Live chat: Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings

Following some not-so-great performances over the last four games, the Lakers will be looking to start 2010 on the right foot with a win over their Sacramento rivals. Two days off has given them the chance to heal a little bit and reflect upon the past week, so hopefully tonight's game won't be decided in double overtime.

Live chat: Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors

Following last night's defenseless debacle in Phoenix, the Lakers should find some relief against an upset-minded Golden State squad at Staples Center.

Four games in five nights has taken its toll on the defending champs and they'll be eager to finish out the year on a high note. We'll see if someone other than Kobe Bryant can have a standout game.

But Golden State hasn't been itself lately -- the Warriors are coming off impressive victories over Boston and Phoenix.

Live chat: Lakers at Phoenix Suns

No Ron Artest, no problem? Well, that was the case against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, but the Lakers shouldn't underestimate Phoenix.

The Lakers' lackadaisical Christmas Day performance illustrated that the purple and gold machine still needs some tinkering underneath its impressive 24-5 skin. It'll also be interesting to see if Andrew Bynum can make an impact tonight and keep his devotees on the bandwagon.

Live Game Chat: Oklahoma City vs. Lakers

The Lakers are looking to keep the good times rolling in a much warmer locale that, thankfully, isn't Detroit or New Jersey. It'll be interesting to see how the team responds coming off a successful road trip before heading into their Christmas Day showdown against LeBron and his bodyguard.

Lakers at Bulls- Live game chat

UPDATE: POSTGAME CHAT IS LIVE!!!

There are no gimmies in the NBA... but there shouldn't be giveaways, either. A solid defensive effort against a team struggling to score points- Lord knows the Bulls qualify in that regard- should get the Lakers back on the winning side of the ledger.

Live from Staples: Lakers vs. Hornets

It's a different Hornets team without Chris Paul, no question. For one thing, GM/coach Jeff Bower is giving much more burn to a rookie backcourt of Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton than Byron Scott ever did. Neither makes up for CP3, but it's unquestionably a more vibrant combination than Browns Bobby and Devin. But as it was the first time these teams met, New Orleans will suffer up front, particularly now that the Lakers again have Pau Gasol at their disposal. Emeka Okafor is an undersized center, one that Andrew Bynum can handle, and the Lakers have the length to bother David West on both ends.

Even with Gasol in the lineup, Phil Jackson expects Kobe Bryant to do plenty of damage in the post tonight, just as he did a few weeks back. "He'll get there by hook or by crook," PJ said with a smile. Frankly, as long as the ball gets down there, I don't really care who takes the shots. The easiest way for the Lakers to keep this game competitive would be to allow the Hornets to get out and run, scoring in transition.

Shots near the hoop help keep that from happening.
