Josh McRoberts to miss Portland game, maybe more

January 5, 2012 |  1:51 pm

The Lakers need all the energy they can muster tonight in their traditionally tricky visit to Portland, but one of their hustle guys won't be playing.

Reserve power forward Josh McRoberts will be sidelined again because of a sprained big toe on his left foot. He probably won't play Friday against Golden State either, Coach Mike Brown said.

McRoberts sustained the injury last week and played through it for a few games before being removed from the lineup before the Lakers' victory Tuesday over Houston.

He's quickly become a fan favorite because of his on-court energy and is averaging 5.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in his first season with the Lakers.

Troy Murphy will take McRoberts' spot in the line-up.

The Lakers are 6-23 in regular-season games in Portland since Kobe Bryant's pro career began in 1996.
