Lakers make hustle plays in 92-89 victory over Denver Nuggets

December 31, 2011 |  5:25 pm

Among the highlights of my breakdown on the Lakers' 92-89 victory Saturday over the Denver Nuggets:

  • Derek Fisher's ability to grab a cross-court loose ball in the final minutes of the game defined his toughness. It also sets a good example for how the Lakers will often need to grind out wins.
  • Steve Blake deserves credit for chasing down Danilo Gallinari. It was clear Gallinari was waiting for a foul, and Blake smartly avoided it.
  • There's no transition period for Andrew Bynum on offense. But how long will it take for him to get back in shape?
  • Kobe Bryant handled his facilitating role so nicely, he almost logged a triple-double.
