Kobe Bryant's new Christmas shoes require protective eyeware

Kobe Bryant's new Christmas shoes
If Kobe Bryant's Grinch-themed Nike shoes last Christmas didn't leave you blinded, consider yourself lucky.

But you'll want to keep that protective eyeware handy. Whether you attend the Lakers' Christmas Day game against Chicago at Staples Center or watch it on your new wide-screen TV, beware of the bright objects. Bryant will debut a unique pair of his Nike Zoom VII shoes featuring cheetah spots and red laces.

Regardless of the design, Bryant's shoes have a track record of feeling really comfortable. I tested out the Grinch-colored Nike Zoom IVS last year, and they felt good enough at least to beat my colleague, The Times' Melissa Rohlin, in basketball. Ever since she beat me in the last game of a three-game series, revisionist history has suggested I lost horribly. So perhaps this is the perfect time for a rematch — wearing the new Kobe shoes, of course.
