Kobe Bryant to appear on Extreme Makeover Home Edition
After spending all summer undergoing numerous procedures to repair his ailing body, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will now work on fixing ailing homes.
According to a post on the UC Irvine athletic department's Facebook site, Bryant plans to appear on an episode of ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition where he will help coordinate rebuilding efforts in Joplin, Mo. A reported 160 people died from a tornado that swept through that region on May 22 and has been considered the seventh deadliest in U.S. history. Part of that episode will feature Bryant at the Bren Events Center.
It remains unclear when filming will take place or when the episode will air. But Michael Izzi, UC Irvine's athletic director, posted on the athletic department's Facebook page that the first 2,500 to arrive at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bren Events Center will qualify as extras for the episode. Anyone who also donates at least two articles of new or used winter clothing will be entered into a raffle for the chance to play Bryant in a one-on-one game much like the way he did this summer with rapper Bow Wow.
