Should Lamar Odom appear on reality television next season?
At this point in his career, forward Lamar Odom no longer leaves Lakers fans divided about his value to the team.
Instead, he leaves fans debating if his becoming a reality television star is a good career move. Some believe he has every right to expand his branding with Khloe Kardashian. Some think it's tacky.
So it shouldn't be surprising that Odom sent out a tweet Thursday night asking for fan approval.
"Khloe and LaMar season 2?" Odom tweeted. "Yeah or Neah? I'm going 2 let the people pick! Let me know what's up."
The question goes beyond Lakers fans' tastes in reality shows. Many care only whether it's hindering his playing. Because filming took place during his most consistent time during the 2010-11 regular season, it's hard to argue that the show distracted Odom. Some countered that the show's release date contributed to his poor play in the 2011 NBA playoffs.
I'm not going to pretend to know about Odom's personal life, but if the show's filming didn't hurt his regular-season play, it's a stretch to think the show's airing coinciding with the NBA playoffs shifted his focus. In reality, Odom simply played poorly, as did the rest of his teammates.
Even so, Odom should put his reality television interests on hold. Though teammates razzed Odom about his unisex fragrance and avoided watching the show, many suggested they're happy he's able to promote his brand. So Odom opening up his schedule has nothing to do with addressing concerns by teammates about stretching himself too thin. But for the sake of wanting to leave nothing unturned in the Lakers' quest to rebound from a poor season, it'd be best just to leave Khloe and the rest of her family to take care of the trivial reality shows.
But that's only my vote. What about yours? Perhaps Odom might weigh the poll results below before making a decision.
