Pau Gasol scores 19 points in Spain's 77-53 win over France

Even within a three-minute highlight package, it was clear Pau Gasol played much differently in Spain's 77-53 exhibition win Tuesday over France than, say, during the 2011 NBA playoffs.

He scored 19 points in a variety of ways. The video above  shows Gasol sinking jumpers, posting up with efficient footwork and even throwing down an alley-oop lob. Yup, sounds like the Pau Gasol that Lakers fans were accustomed to  when he helped L.A. to three consecutive NBA Finals. Well, maybe except for the alley-oop part.

"I'm glad to be here in our first friendly game. It's a sensational feeling to have a good game against a good team such as France," Gasol says in Spanish in the video. "We got a very good reception by the crowd."

It's way too reactionary to put lots of stock in Gasol's performance in an exhibition game in preparation for the European Championships. It's also reactionary to suggest the Lakers should part ways with Gasol after his poor playoff showing. Still, it's nice for Lakers fans to see Gasol in this light than the one they saw against the Dallas Mavericks.

"Yesterday was a very good game for us against the French national team @FIBA," Gasol tweeted. "I'm sure we'll face them again in #Lithuania2011. "We need to keep improving but the sensations are very good."
