Besiktas remains determined to sign Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant proclaimed he hasn't talked to the Turkish basketball team Besiktas "in weeks."

Numerous reporters who talked to Bryant's inner circle made it clear there's little chance the Lakers star would actually join them.

To make matters worse, Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears and Adrian Wojnarowski reported Bryant "became irritated with Besiktas officials making public proclamations on the status of talks with him."

Yet, that's not stopping the Turkish basketball team from continuing to go public in its plans to woo Bryant. A Sportando report quoted Obrad Fimic of Alti Sport, who is negotiating with Besiktas on behalf of Rob Pelinka of Land Mark Sports, as saying he's traveling to Los Angeles this week with Besiktas' president to meet with Pelinka. Because of the team's proclamations that it had a "50-50" chance of landing Bryant and that a meeting was actually taking place this weekend, I highly doubt it will take place, particularly after the news has gone public.

This is the equivalent of a desperate suitor buying flowers and making constant phone calls in the hope that the girl of his dreams suddenly changes her mind. But the more Besiktas refuses to let go, the more embarrassing it becomes.
