The changing of the guard from Kobe to Bynum The Beast. I like it I really like it.

UP by 4 at half, way too early, but promising!

Bynum is a beast indeed!

JUST WIN THIS GAME and it's a new series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOUDER: *****JUST WIN THIS GAME!!!***********

Dallas will choke away the series, if they lose tonight... GUARANTEED!!!!

JUST WIN THIS FREAKING GAME!!!

BYNUM STEAL...COAST TO COAST. He wants it, Kobe wants it, Lamar wants it, Fish wants it.

Changing of the guard, Kobe to Bynum? No....Gasol to Bynum. Bynum deserves all the touches Pau has been getting. He should be the second to eat. If the Lakers can make the switch from Pau as #2 option to Bynum, the Lakers win a title and set up a new dynasty.

LAKERS/BASKETBALL FANS: did anybody notice the footwork of kobe's travel violation? it was a travel. SO IS EVERY ONE OF DIRKS FALL-AWAY JUMP SHOTS AS HE GOES LEFT. he plants and pivots off his right foot, then picks it up to fall away on his left. TRAVEL. plain and simple. impossible to guard, especially if you're a 7 footer with touch. how many of his points over the years are off a non-called travel violation? mmm... neither here nor there...just a thot.

WTF is up with Pau Gasol???? He's acting like a bi*ch! What the heck happened to him? This is unbelievable. Yet we can still win.

Go Lakers!

Love the "Derek Fisher comedy hour ". It's amazing how he can't stay on his feet. Total Buffoon !!!!

Did you see that guy's shirt sitting behind the bench? LBJ is no Kobe. Where can I get that????

LAKERS NEED TO GO TO THE BASKET!!!

Well ... nobody is feeding Drew and last but not least, nobody is attacking the rim. relying on jump shots won´t get it done

THANK YOU DEREK FISHER. THANK YOU! NOW PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RETIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IN 3 GAMES 1 DOUBLE TEAM ON DIRK......

shux

AND KOBE IS RIGHT. HE'S NOT CLUTCH. THE LAKERS HAVE THE LEAD AND WHAT KOBIATCH DO? STARTS JACKING UP STUPID JUMP SHOTS!!!

@Andi: Good looking out, I was just about to post about it! You can pick that up at 1twoclothing.com

Game over...Series over...Dynasty over

We need Howard. Bynum 4'howard or gasol 4 Howard. Or both for Howard. What ever Orlando will take.

Phil gets off the high chair?

FRAUD FISHER LIKE I SAID THE WHOLE SEASON

PAY SOME MONEY ARE REHIRE THE K BROS, SO LATIMES CAN HAVE AN INTELLIGENT AND FAIR WRITER WORKING FOR THEM

JUST SOME WORDS FROM BLOGGERS WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Of course Gunner shows up when the Lakers are against the ropes. He'll disappear (like usual) when the Lakers win out this series, and hopefully he'll take his all-caps and gross misspellings (it's "reel," smarty) with him.

I believe. And I always will.

Go Lake Show!

WHERE IS OUTLAW....CLAP, CLAP......CLAP, CLAP, CLAP....WHERE IS OUTLAW!!!

The brutal truth that Dallas fans don’t realize right now is the Lakers have the Mavs right where they want them. This weekend will start with the Lakers blowing Game 3 wide open in the 1st quarter and end with the Mavs trying to pick themselves up off the floor after 2 humiliated thrashings at home and suddenly realizing they not only lost back home court advantage but probably the series as well. With Dallas’ confidence reeling, the Lakers pound out 2 more dominating wins to close out the semis 4-2.

So get your act together Lakers fans and show up for your team whether in person, on TV, or on DVR. Will your team to triumph. Let the collective karma flow and inspire the greatness that we know this team has to emerge at last. From now on, our motto needs to be just win out. Every game. Metal to the pedal for full48 minutes. Don’t let up. Don’t slow down. Don’t look back. Just win out!

OBVIOUSLY, UNCLETOM DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT TOO. CAN YOU TWO PLEASE GO AND EAT CROW NOW?

THE SEASON IS OVER!!!!! LET'S GET READY FOR DWIGHT HOWARD/CP3 FREE AGENCY IN ONE YEAR. THIS KOBE BALL HOGGING EXHIBITION HAS RUN ITS COURSE.

We are old, slow, cocky, overworked and clueless.

I am sure Lakers are loosing this series and out of championship. Trade Pau out of the Lakers ASAP. He is a stupid player and really a soft player.

Meant Outworked, not overworked....sorry ;)

LO, quits reality show, no?

Ron Ron apologizes, no?

That's got to hurt seeing Dirk surpass coby. Likewise Peja having his revenge.

Lakers, get there shit together? You can't blame Luke Walton?

It's over for the FAker fans!this series is clearly over. They've come across to a more better and more hungrier team! No more 3peat for the Lakers!=)

Jonny boy K thank god you have 2 more years of your beloved DEREK !!!
" Mr. Intangible " cetainly didn't bring any tangibles tonight.

Dallas will choke away the series, if they lose tonight... GUARANTEED!!!!

JUST WIN THIS FREAKING GAME!!!

Posted by: Ludwig | May 06, 2011 at 07:55 PM

I FEEL YOUR PAIN LUDWIG. BUT THE SERIES IS OVER! AS PREDICTED MAVS/THUNDER VS HEAT. BUT ALL IS NOT LOST. WE CAN NOW SERIOUSLY REBUILD THIS TEAM PROPERLY WITH DHOWARD/CP3.

WE CAN LET THE FRAUD PHIL JACKSON AND HIS OBSESS LOVE FOR DEREK FISHER. LET THEM BOTH GO. AND I WOULDN'T PUT MY MONEY ON BRIAN SHAW BEING THE COACH. WE NEED SOME NEW X'S AND O'S COACH IN HERE WHO UNDERSTANDS HOW TO COACH DEFENSE. AND JUST MAYBE, KOBE LEARNS HOW TO OFFICIALLY PLAY TEAM BALL.

hmmmm, hate to be negative, but what is going on, oh, i know, they want to be the team that comes back from 0-3 and win it all, TNT, ABC, wants increased ratings, Dr.B, gets paid!

once again, mavs bench destroys lakers bench. gasoft was horrible, only bright spots were kobe, bynum and LO. dallas just wants it more, you can tell dirk is obsessed with winning it all.

What a disappointment tonight (:

Lakers gave it all they had but came up short so it's over. Looking at the big picture, still a great team. But it's finished for this season.

I'm guessing we'll see at some point the reality show version of odum's fumble. I hope she takes pity on her humiliated husband but we'll have to wait to see it.

M A V S MAVS MAVS MAVS!!!!! It's a beautiful thing tonight.

if you laker fans are tired of gasol and kobe, we'll take either of them in san antonio. tell you what, even though we crashed and burned in the first round, spurs fans are proud of their team. we wouldn't dog them like you all are doing. terrible fan base in l.a. says a lot about faker fans.

LO wanted to be a hero on offense and a ZERO on defense.

FISHER - the same stupid foul like a few years ago in the SA game. game lost

what a VETERAN - his BB IQ is NONE!

and the inbound PASS - what a beauty!

PJ has no PLAYS - maybe TEX can send him a few from HEAVEN!

Pau is soft

THE FAT CHARLES BARKLEY IS NOW SINGING LOUDLY AND HE JUST ENTERED THE STORE TO COLLECT HIS BROOM!!!

Good thing we had clutch Fisher.

It's okay though.

This series was over after game 2, and everyone, including the Lakers, made me believe. In the end, too little - and lacking mentally

And oh yeah, not surprised to see Gunner here, but seriously, you're going to blame Kobe? Last minute of the game, and we decide that LO is our go-to player all of a sudden...

You've got Bynum, Gasol, and Kobe... but yet, let's give it to LO and watch him go one on one with the game tied and less than a minute to go.

Genius.

is it STILL "practice season"?

See my previous posts after last two games.
Also, three key stats tonight:
42-15 bench points for dallas
Pau Gasol>12pts-8rbs
29-14fts
For whatever reason, Pau just isn't there.
If you bench gets killed, you have to play your starters more.

Too bad.

Well, it's time to either make history, or go home.

Personally, I'd put Ron-Ron on Dirk, and sit Pau.

Best to all

kobe could have been an all time great, but he was too busy
being a ball hog jacking up stupid shots.
such a shame.

For game 4, Phil Jackson should congratulate the Lakers players for sending him on an early retirement, and then tell them that he has to go pack his suitcases while they practice.

Total Humiliation.

The Zen Master's car broke down in Inglewood and he got buggered by vicious homeless people.

OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

KL beast was right.

TEX's still alive you dumb!

Sweep!!

It was so near and yet so far away.....

After building an 8 pt lead and six minutes to go, let's award to bummer trophies to defending Champs.

1. For Odom who did a great job in dissing shots for three quarters and made bum catch in the end, poor defense of Stepa and kept on jacking long ball. Bad decision for the Reality TV best actor.

2. For Fisher who has been in NBA since 1995 and made strong bump on Terry for a sure two shot. Bad decision for the Union President.

3. For Gasol who put up his best game, not enough again outplayed by the German. Time to say goodbye for Gasol

And last but not the least, please FIRE Mitch Cupcake who never added a three point scorer during the ASG trading dead line, in fact traded prematurely the only three point scorer in Vujacic. This Mitch re-enactment of Cupcake decisions of 2006 & 2007. No vision, no foresight bad GM. Promote Phil Jackson to that position and eliminate this inept overstaying bummer.

Fisher with one bonehead play after another tonight. You gotta love this clown. No matter how bad he plays he's Derek Fisher and you guys love him.
Now please STFU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manny, that's the way we roll in Cali. You don't like it, get the hell outta this blog.

CRUEsters
Our run was great and exciting. We're done for the season. See you next season.

One more time...

...Colorado loves our World Champion Lakers!

wow bynum ate first, kobe had 6 assists and shot 50%,we still still lost..wtf is that, wtf was phil saving kobe for with 7 minutes left and up 8??2008 anyone?/whoever posted phil's exwife's comment, post em again, cause this guy has truly, truly, truly, lost it.Maybe he loves mj more, who knows but anyone blames kobes is an @$$. thank godness I had a few drinks, eff them eff them all............

i love the lakers ever since but the way they show their defense in this playoffs, they might collapse earlier in the second round...but still i believe Phil could find a solution for this...heart of a champion.

All I can think of is even though we got Blake who was a good pickup, the bench wasn't as good as last year and we thought last years bench wasn't good. At this point its pretty much over.
I love Ron Ron but his suspension pretty much cost the season because with Odom starting the bench is really thin also Barnes didn't play as well as I thought he would with Ron Ron out.
Anyway, we have had 2 championships recently when many of teams still in it haven't ever won 1 so we can't them all.
Now looking to the future work on getting B. Shaw as manager and developing Ebanks and bringing in a couple big men who are hungry. Hopefully we can get Ron Ron to the Knicks since I know he wants to finish his career at home.
Hopefully Bynum has learned how important it is to stretch to avoid injuries and the rebuilding process won't be so painful because Kobe has 1 or 2 more decent years left.

LA was outplayed, and the Lakers choked with the game on the line against a team which was simply mentally tougher tonight. These Mavs get off the mat.

Terrible defensive rotations led to a dozen 3s tonite. Improved bench play helped little. The Mavs are hitting all the shots they need to hit.

A turning point in this game was Gasol's terrible stretch in the 3d. He let Marion beat him to a tip-out, leading to a Nowitzki 3. Then he fumbled the ball away, leading to another score at the other end. What could have been a double-digit lead was shaved to 5, and the game remained in doubt going into the 4th. Gasol used to help the team hold leads. With a looming lockout and the specter of a hard cap, he better be careful he's not playing his way out of LA.

Then there's Phil Jackson. Once again, he leaves the franchise player on the bench in a must-win situation for extended stretches in the 2nd half. And once again, LA fails to find the separation it needed to hold on for a win. It's baffling, at least to me.

But on top of it all, this team is just . . . tired. Too many games played, perhaps. As sad as it is, it is inevitable. But the warning signs were there. Regardless of the outcome, we should applaud what the Lakers have accomplished, and in return, LA should get younger and more athletic in the next season, whenever that may start.

As long as they're playing basketball, I will give them a shot. Play for pride, if nothing else, LA, and the rest may just fall into place.

kobe refuses to pass it inside
same ole same ole
wouldn't pass it to shaq in detroit finals
amd won't pass it to drew.
trade his butt

i personally don't care if gasol led the lakers to three straight finals, he has been invisible ever since game one against the hornets. all NBA teams would pull a blockbuster trade for him, lakers need to shi pau out of LA asap.

What the heck wrong with Gasol. Trade Pau for his younger brother.

Isn't Odom is the one normally throw in the pass? What the hell Fisher doing on the sideline throwing in that pass?

wtf does phil have a speech paper at the podium??Did he already know the outcome???How about hey phil why have kobe out in a crucial game just up 8 with 7 minutes left??what were you saving him for??This was just like in 08,what could you possibly be thinking??You know what past success just not guarentee future sucess. You know you are the highest payed coach in the league right??Hello, hello, phil are you there???

Top 5 reasons why the Lakers will not 3peat

1. Pau Gasol failed to back up Kobe as the Laker number 2 option. He failed to contain or keep pace with Dirk, and he failed as a man.

2. Phil Jackson lazy azz, arrogant attitude finally caught up with him.

3. Mitch Kupchak traded away youth and replaced them with hasbeens and busts. He also failed to sign Peja when he was available.

4. Derek Fisher not playing up to NBA standards the whole year.

5. Shannon Brown and Steve Blake shooting a lower percentage than Derek Fisher.

Trade everyone but Bynum and Lamar. Kobe is an idiot. All he had to do was feed the post and we win. Instead he starts jacking up low percentage jumpers. I've grown tired of his game.

its amazing to see how many post here all the time proclaiming love for the Lakers but when they lose bash them like there's no tomorrow. if you are a true fan you hang in there no matter what.
PJ wins a ton of championships and people are bashing him now like he's a rookie coach.
Fisher has saved this team time and time again and should receive some thanks. Sure he has gotten older but he couldn't help it because Blake couldn't take over the duties, the plan was supposed to be Blake take over and Fish get less minutes but when the 2nd unit always came in the Lakers lost leads.
Kobe is Kobe, you can't say how great he is when the Lakers win and then call him the out for doing what he always does and that's shoot.
There is always next year, hopefully there won't be a lockout.

Genius.

TIM, WHEN THE LAKERS WAS UP BY 6, KOBE ON ONE POSSESSION, FAKE LIKE HE WAS SHOOTING AND WHEN GASOL ROLL TO THE BASKET, HE THREW THE PAST INTO GASOL BACK.

ON THE NEXT POSSESSION, HE TOOK A WHILE FADE AWAY JUMP SHOT FROM THE TOP OF THE KEY.

ON BOTH POSSESSIONS, MAVS CAME BACK DOWN THE COURT AND HIT TWO 3'S. THAT GOT THE MOMENTUM BACK IN THE MAVS FAVOR. THIS IS WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED GOING TO BYNUM, BUT KOBE WENT AWAY FROM WHAT GOT THEM THE LEAD LIKE HE ALWAYS DO.

I agree with you on the Lamar go-to final possession. I don't know who drew that one up either. But, panic set in after Mavs got the momentum on Kobe's two bad possessions.

Worst series preparation I have ever seen Phil Jackson undertake. He seems to have checked out - and the show of emotion is too little, too late.
Fish is still good - but not enough any more to facilitate winning basketball.
Lamar doesn't know who he is out there. Timid is the best word to describe him, I think.
Pau has played soft, soft, soft for weeks. I can't stand it when players of his caliber embrace the "Paul Pierce Method" - playing for the foul instead of finishing for the hoop first and foremost.
Bynum was gutsy, but still under-achieves. Hope he gets stronger and can stay healthy.
I don't even want to talk about Brown, Blake, or Barnes. They'll need to be sent packing when this season is over (Sunday?)
No true three-point shooters is one of the most glaring weaknesses for the Lakers.
Kobe is legend - but seems to be less explosive, maybe slowing down a bit. The knees?

Laker bench 15 Mavs bench 42.Wow! after being out scored again in another fourth quarter by the Mavs, andwatching the Lakers coming apart like they was the team with out experience.I think its time to press the PANIC button. The Mavs are just better than us right now.And the Lakers they played offense, but forgot how to play defense with all those uncontested 3 pointers. Terrible, just have to not get sweep.

Go Lakers!

So long, Phillip. Take your stepson Luke with you. And Paula, take your weak heart and pink panties and get the hell out of Los Angeles, you loser.

at least we know BYNUM is a keeper.

Sorry guys.. Had to leave for dinner without being done venting my anger on Laker's poor performance. Looks like some politics is going on in Lakerdom. Kobe can not take over the game to avoid being stamped as a selfish or Pau and Bynum taking excuse that Kobe did not play inside out. It is so outrageous. I think only way Lakers can do a miracle is by taking a last chance by making Kobe take over the game.

I am sure the series is almost over for Lakers (to me completes over). I think Laker management should start negotiating with Orlando and New Orleans to trade Chris and Dwight. Trade out Pau, Fisher, Steve, Matt, Artest and Luke Walton.

That will make Lakers to win a chance next year or let them and LA fans do forget any parade for the next 5-6 years until Lakers do find another draft player in a lottery.

I told you guys when the season started - you'd be sorry that Barnes joined your team. The Suns suffered through a Barnes season and he shot em in the foot all the time.

Trade everyone but Bynum and Lamar. Kobe is an idiot. All he had to do was feed the post and we win. Instead he starts jacking up low percentage jumpers. I've grown tired of his game.

Posted by: Dwarfman | May 06, 2011 at 09:40 PM

I AGREE WITH YOU. I HAVE GROWN TIRED OF IT SINCE 2004!!!

Woooo!!! Dallas Mavs all day baby! Lakers over with killin da series 3-0!!!

LAKERS GONE FISHIN..........!!! ;))

I REMEMBER KOBE'S COMMENTS 2 DAYS AGO..."WHY EVERYONE SO WORRIED? WHY EVERY ONE PANICKING?"

WELL....JUST EVALUATE YOUR SHOT SELECTION THE LAST 3 MINUTES OF THE GAME AND YOU KNOW NOW WHY WE WERE PANICKING...YOU STUPID BALL HOG.

THE LAKERS CAN DO ALOT WITH $24 MILLION DOLLARS. WE CAN GET TWO ALLSTARS FOR TRADING THE BALL HOG AWAY.

keep bynum and odom, kobe is untouchable. everyone else is tradeable, and derek fisher should retire, or lakers can package him, gasoft, and the rookies for CP3 or dwight howard.

Don't forget... lockout. This will be the last bball we'll watch in 2011.

WE DON´T EVER ADMIT IT

How many times did I say the Lakers will not win this year championship if they continue to rely on jump shots?

Kobe got into the game while the lakers were up by 6 or 8 and what happened? He started to go over his jump shots, started to make silly mistakes like forcing passes when he had nowhere to go, stopped play defense and so on.

Of course I am not here saying it is Kobe´s fault that the Lakers lost game but, when you rely so much on jump shots you dont get to put the other team in foul trouble and in the penalty.

Dallas won this game and will win the series because they attack the rim and get the lakers in the penalty early.

Last but least... the worst thing that we lakers fan do is dissin on every other laker player. Gasol, Fisher, Odom etc etc are human after all. Some are struggling and it is ok to struggle. I wonder what some of us would do out there.

It is ok for Gasol and Kobe to dominate every night their defenders but it is never ok for other players to dominate Fisher and whoever else? Please if you guys are true Lakers fan, stop crying over other people´s struggle and support them even if they lose.

If Mitch get a chance to get some other players, go over hard working youth to get them out of the bench because... all stars like Paul, Dwight etc are good but will never save the lakers and will not make this team capture 10 championship on row and yet, whenever they start to struggle you guys will be crying to trade them again.

Anyway.... even if the Lakers get swept...

Lakers for life! :)

Maxx

Trolls and Mavs loser fans --

Our team lost tonight, but over the last 35 years of my life they have given me more pure basketball joy than you as trolls or a Mavs fans WILL EVER KNOW! And that's where all you jealous trolls hurt the most, you're bitter at 50 years of glorious success. We, as Laker fans, have been massively spoiled, our cup runeth full, for so many years. That's why you're so jealous, we understand. That's why you hate on us. We understand. Now enjoy this for about a week until you get your heads handed to you by OKC.

The Lakers will not repeat this year as 17-time champions, but you won't win your FIRST this year either.

Ouch!

Now go take off your dirty boots and go lay with your fat cows.

So now the Lakers have to do what no team has ever done - come back from an 0-3 deficit if they want to keep moving towards the threepeat.

It's not looking promising...

Phil had to smack Pau around to get him to wake up and play hard.

Blake and Brown were a tiny bit better, and they contained JJ Barea, but nobody on the Lakers could stop Dirk or Jason Terry or Peja. And the Lakers' 3 point shooting was still extremely poor. They're missing Farmar and Sasha right now - they weren't great last year, but they were better than what the Lakers are getting from Blake and Barnes this year.

Clearly, Dallas's bench is the difference. Tonight they outscored the Laker bench 42 to 15.

And most importantly, the Lakers were once again incapable of holding a lead. They had an 8 point lead with about 6 minutes left and barely scored from there to the end of the game.

Mark Cuban specifically built this team to beat the Lakers - after watching the Lakers size dominate most teams for the last 3 years, Cuban brought in Tyson Chandler and Brendan Heywood, and their threesome of Nowitzki-Chandler-Heywood has matched Bynum-Gasol-Odom blow for blow.

They have two PGs (Kidd & Terry) that have outplayed all Laker PGs in all 3 games, and another PG who has been a bigger spark off the bench than Blake.

If the Lakers lose the series (which is looking more and more likely, but ain't a sure thing yet), they'll have had a good run. They're at a point where they need to rebuild a bit and sacrifice core strength to add better role players...

And I'm sad to say that I think it may be time for Pau to go. The last two seasons before this one, he has played much harder in the playoffs than he has this year. I put the core of the Lakers weakness in BOTH of these first two rounds on Pau's shoulders.

And keeping both Kobe and Pau is not cost effective. The Lakers have TWO players who make more than Dirk, and only one of them has earned his pay in these playoffs... and that's the Bean.

Or if they keep Pau, then Odom and Artest have to go.

Either way, they need a dramatic upgrade at PG. When Kobe and Pau and Bynum are able to dominate, usually it doesn't matter that Fish is a liability on the floor. But this series has shown the TRUE formula for beating the Lakers... Have a couple of small waterbug shoot first PGs - they'll own Fisher & Blake.

Bynum has been the only Laker big who has truly played hard all the time so far in the playoffs.

There are two alternatives:

1: if they could get a few (not 1, but a few) quality role players to sign for less than they're worth. We thought Barnes & Blake would be that, but so far, they've been less productive than the players they replaced.

or

2: If they could stick with almost the entire same roster (maybe adding only a better defending PG/shooter), and if they could use this loss as motivation to play harder next season. That worked for the 2010 Celtics - got them within a quarter of a title.

I agree with jerseylakersfan about trading Gasol and the rookies, but I do not like the players he/she wants to trade for. Chris Paul has too much of a number one guy style and attitude. Howard and Kobe's personality will not mesh at all. Bynum is a more versatile player than Howard. Trade Gasol and Barnes for a guy like Corey Maggette or Trevor Ariza. But if Gasol leaves. they need another backup big guy who can play multiple positions

I still love LA!

Hopefully, Buss and Mitch and clean house, wherever the cards may fall.

C'mon Lakers win this Sunday and bring this series back home!

Wow, how the tides have turned. Pau is soft, Fisher needs to retire, Kobe is an idiot, Lamar is lost.........a week ago they were the greates team in world history now they all suck and Phil Jackson can't coach. I love watching Lakers fans have meltdowns.

S. Perkins,

>>>Fisher with one bonehead play after another tonight. You gotta love this
>>>clown. No matter how bad he plays he's Derek Fisher and you guys love him.

We love him because in the past, even when he's played poorly during the regular season, he's regularly come through in the clutch. But as they say about the stock market... past results don't guarantee future success. Fish had some bad plays tonight, no doubt. And Lamar had some O-dumb plays, and Pau reverted to his Ga-soft form for much of the game.

Who's your favorite player? How many clutch shots have they hit for your team in helping them win championships? For how many championships?

Yep. You're right. Fish is pretty much done. Put a fork in him. But he is still better than Blake. I kinda wished (and stated as much here) that the Lakers would have re-signed Farmar and given him a chance to start. He's a much better passer than Fisher, he's a bit better at staying in front of small-fast PGs, and he's better at getting to the rim and finishing than Fisher. But Phil has always played with (sometimes over-the-hill) role players and he's regularly succeeded with that formula. This time, old man time has caught up with him.

But I'd like to thank Fish for all that he's done for the Lakers. He's got 5 rings and he earned every one of them. He ain't no Adam Morrison.

>>>Now please STFU

Neither you, nor any other bombastic blogger will ever silence the opinions of Laker fans on this blog. You can rant about Derek Fisher until the cows come home, but he still has 5 rings and you have zero.

If the Lakers lose this series, I WILL SPEAK. I will speak to ADMIT that Derek Fisher contributed to the loss. And I will speak to PRAISE Derek Fisher for what he's contributed to winning championships... just as I will praise Phil Jackson for coaching those teams to championships and Mitch Kupchak for collecting together a strong enough group of players to WIN so many championships.

As much as you criticize, do you know how many point guards in the NBA have won consecutive championships in the last 10 years? Only 1. Derek Fisher. He won a 3-peat and a back to back.

The Last PG before him to do that was Ron Harper with the Bulls... and he was also an aging guy who averaged less than 10 points (with those Bulls) and not many assists. He was also carried by a great SG and coached by the greatest coach of all time.

hey bigrozer, thank you. another proposal i have is to trade gasoft to the nets for deron williams, we all know Dwill is not going to stick around in nj, no matter what that dummy russian tells him about being able to sign dwight howard. the reason i am obsessed with the lakers going after a superstar PG is because david stern has turned the league into a PG show. lakers already have drew at center, LO can replace gasoft, and the bench REALLY needs to be bolstered for another title run.

MITCH KUPCHEK needs to take a lot of blame here. Not since Glen Rice in 2000 have the Lakers had a knock-down 3-point shooter (other than "the Machine" in 2008). This falls squarely on the GM. Isn't it utterly pathetic to go 10 long years and not come up with a 3-point shooter on this team? They have gotten away with it for years, with Horry, Fisher and Kobe stepping up with big shots to win games, but not last night. The Lakers were 0-18 from 3-point range until a couple of meanningless ones in the final minutes.

KUPCHEK is the same guy who gave Luke Walton a 6-year contract, the same guy who signed Devon George to a ridiculous contract when he could have worked out a sign and trade for Chauncy Billups that same year. Billups went on to become the Finals MVP in 2004 against the Lakers. With Billups, you'd have another Championship banner in 2004.

KUPCHEK got lucky ONCE, with the Gasol trade, but more and more even that trade doesn't look all that great as the younger Gasol improves. After all, how would a younger and more physical Marc Gasol look on the Lakers right now, lined up next to Andrew Bynum?

KUPCHEK, what ails this team is a lack of a pure 3-point shooter, FIRST AND FOREMOST. Why weren't you able to secure Peja the dancing queen for the Lakers this year? Why? He killed us tonight! Killed us in the 4th quarter! We desperately needed a 3-point threat this year (after Sasha). You knew that by mid-season. So why haven't you been able to secure such a player in TEN LONG YEARS?????

The person who has the most to lose here is Kobe.

If they get swept in this series, with as much talent as the Lakers have and reasonably good health, then this will be the single most cited moment for why Kobe isn't as good as Jordan (which to this point we all knew anyway).

OTOH...

If Kobe could somehow step it up and pull this team up by their bootstraps, CARRY the team to win the series (by stopping deferring so much and scoring in bunches) and pull off the 3-peat, that would actually be a feat that would pull him closer to Jordan's level.

But if you want to be GOAT, sometimes you've got to work miracles.

The silver lining...

Bynum has stayed healthy and played well for most of the playoffs. And tonight he was playing with power and aggression. I'm much more encouraged with his future.

OTOH, I've gotta admit... if the Lakers had managed to pull off a Bynum + change for Carmelo + Billups trade at the deadline, then they'd be weaker in the front court, but better equipped to fight off this Dallas team.

Disappointing post-season. But let's face it, we're spoiled here in LA. I mean, in my 37 years here, I've seen 10 championships and 14 finals appearances! Incredible run.

the lakers are done this season the good thing is that pj will be gone, hopefully fish, blake walton, pau will also be gone.and the owner should bring in a coach from the outside, and get rid of that stupid triangle.you need smart players for the triangle to work the lakers iq dont fit the
requiremet.i dont know why pj wouldnt call time out when the game was tired with 4 minute left.?

I LOVE YOUR AMBITION. NICE TRY....BUT NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN THIS LIFETIME.

KOBIATCH AINT NO MJ! HE'S JUST A SUPER DUPER ROLE PLAYER LIKE SCOTTIE PIPPEN.

blake was supposed to be the knock down shooter but for some reason shooters come to LA and forget how to shoot. I am thinking based on how the triangle works someone always gets wide open looks and that really lets you know the pure shooters from the streaky shooters. i had said during preseason LA should have tried to get Kapono he would have helped the bench a lot.

I WILL AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT ONE. I WAS ONE THAT WAS HOPING MITCH PULLED OFF THAT TRADE BUT THE LACK OF TRADE MAY GET HIM FIRED.

Clearly there are things going on we won't know about until further down the line, if at all. Gasol's fiancee left him recently and word is he had a blow-up with an unnamed Laker about this, going so far as to blame the player's wife for causing the split. Maybe these are the "trust" issues Bynum spoke of.

Well, finally the Lakers can get some much needed rest, regroup for next year, make a few key trades, get somebody who can shoot some 3's consistently to open things up, get some guards who have the speed to penetrate and kick out, play off the ball, set more screens to open up the game, transition to a new coach, start anew with fresh legs and a clear mindset going into the next season.

Yeah, I know it's not over but it's looking bleak with the way they cannot rotate or defend, cannot shoot the long ball, cannot rebound consistently, cannot get to the free throw line, and cannot pass the ball inside when the jumpers aren't falling that night. Of all the years watching the Lakers play, this year has been the most frustrating year to say the least. I give props to Kobe who plays hard every night. He's off some games but like any other top tier player in this league, he rebounds back the next game and plays even harder. Yes, he throws up a lot of shots but who else is going to step up and shoot the ball.

What can you do when everyone on your team lacks the confidence to shoot the ball? What can you do when your bench gets outscored by 40?

Two Words = Game Over.

Kobe Bryant didn't do anything to help his team win this "must win game", but to try to coach them from the bench... No FGA, no defense, no rebounds, no assists. Kobe's tank has ran out of gas, now is time for him to take Phil Jackson's job as head coach from the Lakers next year, since he enjoys screaming at his team mates like it is their fault that they are losing. Sorry, Kobe, but your time is up to hang up your shoes. It's time for the next generation of players to destroy all your career records. And that's beginning with one man, LEBRON JAMES!

Lakers you need to check out the Boston Celtics game tonight Rondo is playing with heart with an injury left elbow WOW Garnet 18 RB they will win this game. On the Lakers Kobe, Fisher, are playing with heart but they need to have the team get their head and heart into the game. There is no way they should not have won a game at home, they are a better team then what I am seeing. Whatever distactions Odom & Gasol, has going on they need to get with the program and do it for their Coach!!!!
They are so lucky to have played for the world's greatest coach. He should go out with a winning team. Get out there and do your job that I will remind you that you are being paid very well to do.....if you want to remain a Laker!!!!!

I agree with Still a Long time Laker fan, so am I. I was depress when Michael retired and started watching this young man man name Kobe Byrant he gave me back my enjoyment for the game, like Michael he plays to win and plays with heart. He needs his team mate to support him like Scottie and Dennis did for Michael. There is no way the Lakers can't come back and win this if they all put their minds into it and their hearts!! Enough said, if they don't they will need to get players who will support Kobe for next season.
