Poll: Will you watch Lamar Odom's reality show?

Usually, readers of The Times' Lakers blog will feast on anything Laker related.

Watch every single Lakers game? Check.

Be on top of any Lakers-related new item? Check

Check out the premiere of Lamar Odom's reality show titled "Khloe and Lamar" Sunday night at 10 Pacific on E? Umm, I'm not sure.

Any time I've written on anything related to Odom's marriage to Khloe Kardashian, his upcoming reality show and his unisex fragrance ad, the reaction usually folds this way: Some Laker fans express positive sentiments for Odom's happiness, some wonder how he'll balance all of it, and some just laugh at the absurdity of it all.

But will you watch the show? I'll DVR each episode, but not by my own choosing. I've never liked reality television and Odom's upcoming show likely won't change that. Because I run a Lakers blog and all, I feel I should probably be on top of it because the show will likely feature tidbits about Odom that at least will be fun to laugh at in the blog. What about you, as a Lakers fan?

Vote in the poll below and we'll see where the breakdown lies.

Umm I just painted my entertainment room so I think I will watch the paint dry instead. I will post it on youtube for anyone looking for an alternative than watching corny tv.

LO has been ballin' all season! He has been the most consistent Laker player so far. Lo has been taping his show since January and they just finished taping last Sunday and he hasn't missed a beat on the court. Marriage has been good for Lamar. He has become more focused and motivated. I am a proud LO fan of his work on the court and am just as proud of his work of the court. Congrats to Khloe & Lamar! #LakeShow 3Peat!

I read somewhere that lo don't check for his kids from his previous relationship. What a deadbeat dad!! Hooking up with a golddigger is one thing but take care of your children odumb. When you finish playing for the lakers khloe will be long gone but your kids will still love you. Priest loves the kids.

khloe doesn't love you she only loves the attention and the dinero. Get traded to the cavs or memphis and see if that golddigger wil be as in love with you. Don't be a fool lo take care of your children.

he shot the ball 5 time more than his teammates. FIVE TIMES!

D. Rose is a ballhog!

rrriiiiiiggggghhhhhttttt

hobbitmage,

This summer, would you trade D. Rose for Kobe straight up if it were possible?

:)

Checking in for game day. I’m looking forward to seeing the Lakers matchup with the new look OKC and for Pau to have a strong bounce back game.

@Lew – Thanks for the roll call.

@dkwsfo - congrats on the Friedman

Hobbit I will ignore your insults because it is Sunday. I never said Kobe was the source of all that is wrong with the Lakers. The true blame lies with Phil who can't seem to control him or the team. From Phil to the least assistant coach always preach going inside so why did kobe take 90 shots over the last couple games? So don't you think Phil who is paid millions of dollars know more than you or I that this is the winning formula when you have two talented 7 footers? Everyone always talking about la size advantage but have kobe take all of their shots is the equivalent of having a 2011 ferrari in your yard with no engine.

my response:

Per the text, you should be forgiving me regardless of the day.

re: you comments about Kobe. Hmmm ... you seem unclear on something.
The *general* opinion of people other than you and Kobefan, is that you
blame Kobe for the Lakers problems. i.e. He takes too many shots. or
why wasn't he on the bench supporting his teammates instead of in the back
room getting medical treatment. If that is not the opinion that you desire
people to have of you, now is a great time to set the record straight. Your
time of repentance is at hand. :)

re: Phil being able to coach the team. I completely understand why you
don't like his coaching style. I'm not a huge fan of it either. That being
the case, the man is going for his 4th 3-peat. Maybe he's got a clue when it
comes to coaching?

re: Why Kobe took over 90 shots the last couple of games?

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310408022

25 shots

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310405013

18 shots

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=310403013

27 shots

isn't that ~ 23 shots per game. Which is 1 more shot than MJ averaged
when he was winning champions? In the middle of a 3-peat?

umm ... who are the defending champions? .. Well, you see where I'm going.

Art, why would you trade Kobe for Rose this summer? Why, why, why? I love DRose, and he idolizes Kobe. But why the heck would we trade him for Rose? A man who has gotten us 5 rings going on 6, and you would trade him at this time of his carreer. What has he done to deserve such a horrible thought?

Where is the love!

Kobe will be always be a laker! He will retire a Laker! He will be the greatest laker of all time when all is done, (sorry magic).

hobbit jordan played with scrubs centers like luc longley and bill wennigton. kobe is playing with the most fundamental big man in gasol and the beast. gasol is an all star and superstar. gastron a back to back champion, euro champ, world game champ and olympic champ. Gastrong helped kobe from the time he got here. so kobe don't need to take all of those shots.

only a thread back and everybody is saying PAu is soft, Bynum is no good. Odom is dumb .. our point guards are scrubs.. our bench are losers... and yet here you are Priest saying that Kobe have the best supporting big men...

Go Kobe! Go Lakers!

And by the way, i am missing Terry. He was wagering 1K for Portland against Lakers in forst round. I wonder where he is.

This is our LA Lakers! Either you are in or you are out. Jump off the ship already! We won't miss you a bit.

Lakerssweep the season serious tonight with Okc 3-0.

Go LAKERS!

@HOBBITMAGE … While we obviously approach things differently, we ironically are pretty much in agreement on how you should play the game. Where we do differ is on whose fault it is when we are not playing the game the right way. Without debating the past, here is my take on Kobe and shooting:

To start, I don’t have a problem with Kobe taking a disproportionate number of the Lakers shots. Most fans don’t appreciate how difficult it is to carry the scoring load night after night for a team. It’s just not about shot attempts, it’s about having defenses focused on you and your team depending on you every single game. Kobe needs to be in attack mode at all times for the Lakers to be at their best.

My issue is that attack mode should come within the confines of the Lakers offense, not in isolation plays where Kobe holds the ball and goes through his choreographed repertoire of moves while the rest of the team becomes his audience. As much as I enjoy watching Kobe make near impossible shot after shot, I would much rather see him shoot 50% consistently by staying within the offense. His 45% shooting percentage is one of the major reasons some say is not as great a player as Michael Jordan.

It’s nice to say that the other players should keep moving but the object of the game when you play it properly is for players AND the ball to keep moving. The reality when you play the game is that when the ball stops moving, players stop moving. And the offense loses its synergistic impact when the ball stops. That’s what used to drive Tex Winter crazy. Realizing that exact same thing is what has turned Andrew Bynum into part of the offense as a passer rather than the black hole he was. Realizing the ball needs to keep moving may be what Kobe needs to do for this team to win its third title in a row.

Why not give Kobe more wide-open mid-range jumper coming off screens in the Triangle Offense. Or post him up at the basket where he can torture smaller guards and be the inside in our inside-out game. Or give him more backdoor lobs. There are lots of ways to give Kobe the same number of shots but with better shot selection and without bringing the offense to a screaming halt by stopping ball movement with isolation plays. Playing smarter is the key to Kobe and the Lakers playing better.

Here is a comment for espn.. and there are countless of these comments all over the internet regarding MJ's Bulls and Kobe's Lakers supporting championship casts..

----
JuliusSeizure06 (4/10/2011 at 11:51 PM) Report Violation They need to bring in a established coach not a rookie. I would like to see Adelman once he leaves Houston but I would really LOVE to see Jerry Sloan.... He is an amazing coach, I can only imagine what he could do with the mediocure Lakers. And just for the record the Lakers are NO WHERE near as talented as Jordan's Bulls."

I would agree totally. I have watch the Bulls in Jordan's prime.. and I hated them for beating Magic and my Lakers in 91'... They were a jaugernaut, them Bulls.

Rather watch that dudes paint job dry. i mean CMON......is this a joke

Island Priest,

Jordan played with Scottie Pippen, who is considered one of the best SF's to
ever play the game. MVP candidate the year after Jordan retired.

Jordan also played w/ Dennis Rodman, who I believe is going into the HoF.

*I* would take Dennis Rodman over Pau Gasol 11 times out of 10. I also
think that Gasol is a Top 3 PF in the NBA/World. Today. I would take
Rodman over Gasol because Rodman understood that defense wins
championships. A fantastic athlete, per Phil jackson. Capable of double-
double on a nightly basis if he wanted and during the Chicago Years.

re: Gasol won the Olympics the year the US sent the JV squad. 2004, I
believe. He lost when he went head to head w/ Kobe.

re: Euro & World star. You're missing the point. No one has said he's not
skilled. Everyone is noticing that his play isn't where it needs to be. In
physical situations, sometimes size & quickness overwhelm skill. They're
going after him.

re: the beast. Andrew Bynum is a young center who seems to have just
discovered how to play the way the Lakers need & want him to play.
Basketball is a *team* game and Bynum has not demonstrated the ability
to carry the team and drive them to a championship. Yes, he's
important. He's one of a number of important pieces. All of which are
necessary to win the championship.

So ... now we're back to the number of shots Kobe takes. And again you
skirt the context to focus on negative Kobe comments.

Q. What is the best player on the team supposed to do when his team is
losing and his teammates can't hit shots?

A1. Keep passing the ball to people who keep missing shots, so you'll fall
farther behind [ because you're already down and the opponents are
making shots ].

A2. Keep passing the ball to people who don't want to shoot and pass the
ball back to you, with little time left on the 24 sec. clock.

A3. Pass the ball to your teammates who are in the wrong position, thus
allowing the opposing team's defense to get a steal, and a layup and
exacerbate an already bad situation.

B. Try and do something yourself and thru your energy get the others
going.

FYI, B has been the game plan PJ/Lakers have utilized since PJ returned
from retirement.

re: Gasol helping Bryant. Oddly enough, everybody in the NBA actually
agrees w/ you. Including me. The thing that you seem to be oblivious to
is that Pau has been playing like a cream puff lately.

What part of Phil words are unclear:

snippet:
Jackson said he's not befuddled by his team's plight because he knows what's wrong.

"Too many turnovers," he began.

Lakers' inside game comes up short against the Blazers

Before he continued his list, Jackson was told that the Lakers have turned the ball over 73 times during the losing streak, an average of 18.3 per game.

He went on to say the Lakers have allowed too many offensive rebounds and have been poor in transition defense.

snippet:
You know what happened? We lost to Denver and realized — guys must have thought it because I didn't — that San Antonio is out of reach and they stopped playing hard," Jackson said.

---------------------------------------------

I have always said and believed that stat's don't tell the whole story, but
without stats the story can't be told.

You are looking at a number on a page, w/o looking at the story of *HOW*
the numbers got on the page.

I will not watch the show, CAN"T stand Khloe, she is very selfish and hates Kim Kardashian. She married Lamar because she wants to be the most popular Kardashian, she wants Lamar's popularity and MONEY. Remember she couldn't afford a freaking apartment in NY?
She is sick of Kim's popularity, Kim is the most popular in that family, don't care about nasty people. Lamar, you are a very good and hard worker guy, please don't let her take your money, she will get popular because of you.
