Lakers Chat: Lakers vs. New Orleans Game 1
Items from Phil Jackson's pre-game press conference:
Lakers Coach Phil Jackson on New Orleans Game 1
Jackson is wearing the 1973 championship ring he won as a player from the New York Knicks instead of the Lakers' 2010 ring for what he called "personal reasons."
He said both Andrew Bynum and Matt Barnes will both suit up. Jackson also said Bynum surpassed his expectations for how he looked in practice after suffering a bone bruise in his right knee last week.

Obama wants the wealthy to pay so "the amount of taxes you pay isn't determined by what kind of accountant you can afford."
Eric Schoenberg says to sign him up for paying higher taxes. Schoenberg, who inherited money and has a healthy portfolio from his days as an investment banker, has joined a group of other wealthy Americans called United for a Fair Economy. Their goal: Raise taxes on rich people like themselves.
Shoenberg, who now teaches a business class at Columbia University, said his income is usually "north of half a million a year." But 2009 was a bad year for investments, so his income dropped to a little over $200,000. His federal income tax bill was a little more than $2,000.
"I simply point out to people, `Do you think this is reasonable, that somebody in my circumstances should only be paying 1 percent of their income in tax?'" Schoenberg said

It would have been nice if that courtside fan tried to catch Kobe at the end of the half or just moved out of the way instead of just sitting there like a bump on a log and letting his knee hit Kobe in the back of the neck! Laker fans are too damn qwuiet in Staples. Sometimes your team needs your support!!!!

Obviously, Gasol had his meal too late last night. He needs to pull a Russell and throw up before the 2nd half. Purge Gasol, Purge!
Lamar didn't eat enough Skittles at warm-ups!

Gasol is always a problem bordering on worthless in these early Sunday games! You live in the USA not Europe, for Pete's sake!!! Barely loping down the court on D and hardly active on the boards at all. Terrible set shot today. etc. etc.

You herd it first from me, new nick name for Kobe, Gold Finger

@hobbit..
not b-ball related, but that is some ish right there. At least the guy is reasonable, unlike some of those other douchbags as it relates to taxes...
@nuggets..lol yea sometimes it seems like we traded a black brown for a white brown(gasol)..lol but you gotta love him, most of the time anyways....
Btw wtf this should be a blowout in the other direction, this team sometimes it seems plays like a bunch of f****ts...LOL...................

Our coach has no game plan. I'm tired of seeing Lakers give up the baseline and cheating off players to give up open shots.

I hope the Hornets sweep the Lakers so I don't have to watch this underachieving team for a long time. Make it quick Hornets so that we the Lakers fans don't have to suffer watching this pathetic team. It is not an entertaining thing to watch this Lakers team but a stressful one. No wonder Kobe called this team "weird" team. What a shame to read in the newspaper "Hornets swept the depending champion Lakers"

Pau cost us this game... For whatever reason, he wasn't able to bring it this afternoon and with NO shooting a horrid percentage at the FT line, the Lakers certainly had their opportunity to eke out a win despite their lazy transitional D and Pau's absence. Needless to say, if they don't execute a game plan, they will be one and done.

What a great win for the Hornets! Lakers=Losers

I posted before that this Lakers team will be out by the first round. No three-peat and no 6 rings for Kobe. What a shame to have this depending champion beaten by the undermanned Hornets. Talk to me now cocky Lakers fans.
Posted by: NINOY | April 17, 2011 at 03:12 PM
@NINOY..
Are they the depending champs, cause they depend on kobe to much??So Much for the big front line.I will admit though,I agree they depend on Kobe to much at times.Like pfunk said on live chat Kobe is the only real all-star on this team.I"ll add that people like to fleece the mamba and talk about the big front line. They repeat what phil, and the media says, question is where was gassy??The incredible shrinking man.I swear at times a dark kwame was trade for a lite kwame..Again these guys really play like a bunch of f****ts sometimes....
P.S. NINoy it's defending, p and f are to far apart on the keyboard, again unless your talking about depending on the mamba all the time...

Keep in mind that Phil has never lost a game at home in the first round when having the home court advantage. Since the playoffs expanded to an eight team format in 1984, when Lakers have been seeded higher than 4, they have not lost at home. All these signs show that the Lakers will not survive this year. Either they will be knocked out in this round or the next round. This crew is not worthy of sixth ring. What a waste. I think everyone in league has figured out the triangle. In today's league, you need a team the run up & down the court and play smothering defense. This years team just not capable of maintaining that effort for 48 minutes this year. Their bench just cant' get it done and Pau has reverted back to 2008 finals soft. After Phil sails off into the sunset, management needs to make major changes in order capture more rings.
Not surprised

My, my...the posters today are pretty SOFT. One loss and everyone's throwing in the towel?!? I would hate to read what these weaklings wrote during last year's Finals when the LAL were down 3-1 and all the Celtics had to do was win one more game...and at home, too...(lost)
then win just Game 6, how hard could it be?...(lost)
then win Game 7...do or die...oh, right...Laker Repeat.
Must've been Kendrick Perkin's injury, remember, 'Celtics Ken?' That's the ONLY reason LAL won..they needed him so much and come this season, for sure...(oops! traded him!) Better luck finding new excuses this year...(as if Celtics fans ever needed help in this dept.~!!!)
'Out in the first round'? On the contrary, NINOY, the Hornets will get slaughtered at home, just like your namesake! (Look it up!)
And you do realize, DEWEY, that your precious superman also lost his own opener? Sorry, I had to ask, but all this hype about a pinhead who's so sad he'll steal his nickname off another (still active) player doesn't impress me all that much.
"Jackson has never lost Game 1 on home court,' 'Ken?' So what? That's just one more amazing record he'll leave smashed for posterity and the Stern Gang's gangster NBA.
In other words...We've Heard ALL This Whining Before!
Luckily for us, our team is made of Greater Stuff than their "fans."
No excuses: Gasol was MIA, Kobe excelled at turnovers and the bench gave paltry few examples of excellence. But after a 4-0 sweep against the Hornets in the regular season, a single loss in a 7-game contest doesn't mean run for the hills, unless you're a Hater.
No. NO! Never Scared. No SURRENDER! LAL in 5.
