Khloe Kardashian upset over weighty subject and Lamar Odom's refusal to clean up

We've officially jumped the shark here and frankly, I don't know if I can really stand watching another episode of "Khloé & Lamar."

I'm not going to argue that the show's been a distraction. Odom has been fairly consistent all season and I'm not going to suggest that Odom's past three performances in all the Laker losses the past three Sundays correlates to every new episode of "Khloé & Lamar" being aired on the same day. But I think I'm going to pull the plug on actually caring about the show.

From all accounts, Odom's been happier since marrying Kardashian in September 2009 and has had a more balanced life since then. In person, both are remarkably nice and down to earth. And both are entitled to brand their show and product line. But I'm losing more and more interest in watching "K&L" as each episode passes.

It's the sports fan in me, but I was more intrigued with Lakers Executive Vice President Jeanie Buss recently meeting with Odom to express her sentiments on how well he's played this season and how the organization truly appreciates his presence. Instead, that one-minute clip is overshadowed with middle-school dramas such as Khloé's insecurity about her weight and Odom's refusal to clean the house because he's used to a maid cleaning up after him.

The supposed tension between the two quickly dials down by the end of the half-hour episode, and given the fact that the production crew films plenty of footage, I'm sure how it played out in real life was the equivalent of what a typical "Seinfeld" episode was about: Nothing.

That's why I'm not going to offer any more updates on the show unless it actually pertains to something newsworthy with the Lakers. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Lamar is not the only Laker TV star; as I recall Pau also had guest appearances on CSI:Miami and Numb3rs and guested just this April in the telenovela, Eva Luna.

Pau also shows up on the late night shows: Leno, Craig Ferguson...

Blog God MM: WE WANT TO MEET YOU!!! Set up a meet-and-greet with us devoted fans. Please. Like be at a Westside coffee shop at a certain time and we'll come meet you and chat about the LAKERS!!!!

This is one of the reasons why Lakers lose a game? We are happy that Lamar and Kloe are doing OK. Let's leave it there, now we should be dealing with basketball, not reality TV, not perfumes etc. I wonder when there was no blog if we know anything about the personal lives of players of Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and the player who claimed he slept with 1,001 women. We do not really care about their families UNLESS we already won the Championship and there is no more games on hand. Unfortunately we are now in a different world whether blogging, tweeting, reality tv, anything about kardashians is also related to the Lakers.

I wonder if anyone have consider the Lake Show losing tomorrow? I guess not, they just don't look and play like champions.

The lakers will trhee peat if all healthy.you can take that to the bank haters...

NBA
HEALTH ALERT

AFTER YEARS OF STUDY, THE NBHO (NATIONAL BASKETBALL HEALTH ORGANIZATION) CONCLUDED THE FOLLOWING STUDY REGARDING THE LARRY O'BRIEN TROPHY:

Over the last 40 years, ever since the Keltics 7 straight championships, the NBHO has observed a correlation between F.D.D. (Fundamental Deficit Disorder) and winning the NBA Championships.

Further study has identified that touching, holding and possessing the Larry O'Brien trophy is the triggering event of F.D.D. NBHO's metalurgical studies division has determined that the Larry O'Brien trophy contains a rare mineral, GIDDIUM, that, when combined with Gold plating, causes elation, euphoria and a superman complex (players believe that they are faster than a speeding point guard, more powerful than a thunder dunk and able to leap sideline fans in a single bound while saving the ball). While in a small, select number of players, it has been observed to cause the Gollum Syndrome (a.k.a. "My Precious" Syndrome), causing them to hoard multiple championships throughout their careers.

While GIDDIUM combined with gold plating affects each player differently (some players may actually have a natural immunity), F.D.D. symptoms may occur in players who merely come into contact with the trophy. As evidenced by the Dallas Mavericks implosion after two games into the NBA Finals of 2006 and the Princess Jimmy lead Cleveland Cavaliers debacle in 2007. Symptoms may last a few plays to an entire career depending upon the individual player's tolerance levels.

Symptoms include:

Over Dribbling
Unforced Turnovers
Ill Advised Passing
Flat-Footed Pick and Roll Defense
OC (Outta Control) Drives to the Rim
Rushed Shots
Poor Clock Management
Lack of Communication
Team Dysfunctionality

If you believe that your team is suffering from F.D.D., check the symptoms and contact your head coach. A sure sign is if their heads are over-inflated (as evidenced by the recent NBA TV bobble head commercial).

TREATMENT

The coaching staff needs to inject a strong dose of reality STAT!
Routinely check heads for over-inflation.
Hide all shiny NBA Trophies, original and replicas (GIDDIUM has been known to create residual side effects from replica trophies), from players views until after the championship.
And infuse team fundamentals over individual mad skills.

WHILE LOW LEVEL EXPOSURE TO GIDDIUM IS ACCEPTABLE OVER THE COURSE OF EACH SEASON, IT IS BEST LEFT TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP PARADE SO AS TO ALLOW TOXICITY LEVELS THE CHANCE TO DROP BACK DOWN TO ACCEPTABLE LEVELS AFTER THE RING CEREMONY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FOLLOWING SEASON.

REMEMBER: F.D.D. CAN BE A SERIOUSLY DEBILITATING SYNDROME (EX., THE DALLAS MAVERICKS).

HOWEVER, WITH THE CONTINUING SUPPORT OF YOUR LOYAL FANS AND COACHING STAFF, IT IS DEFINITELY CONTROLLABLE.

GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hurray!!
Finally, some good news today!
Does that mean no more threads about about this? (I hope...)

@Art.. If hornets had another scorer I can understand but its a one man wrecking crew.

@Edwin.. Sorry bout the trouble with the pesky trolls but best policy is usually to shut them out and not bother! Good luck my friend :-)

I'm just trying to understand why Sports writer are writing about an entertainment show and getting mad. It's not sports! It's meant to entertain. And judging from the ratings and those who kept in trending worldwide last night for hours, folks were entertain.

If you prefer LO with the number 7 on stick to reporting on that! It just seems senseless to keep reporting on it and be upset. Reality TV is not for everyone.

According to the Bleacher Report, Derrick Caracter was arrested on battery charges in New Orleans at their hotel. N other info available.

MM?

http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b95Hc

MM, Never mind about Caracter. Somehow I missed that link. Obviously, Khloe and LO link stuck out more. LOL

Lamar justified the extracurricular activity by asking: "what do you do when the ball stops bouncing?"

Well, you and other NBA players get paid millions upon millions of dollars throughout your career so you DON'T have to WORRY about until it does! All of these guys act like they will be completely broke and homeless when their careers are over.

Get a great tax attorney, a fee based CFP, put your money with Bessemer Trust, brainstorm with the “crew” and build upon your financial legacy. I'm tired of this entire nonsensical BS with these guys. Respect the game; respect your employers; respect the money and respect the fans that make it all possible.

Rap music, guest appearances "un-reality" shows. No Mas!

@MM.. Are you rehearsing for a position over at Echannel or something? The mood is somber there must be something else positive to report :-)

Hobbit,

I tend to agree with your lineup assessment. I like the Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Artest, and Kobe deal. Not quite sure why we don't and why PJ continues to use 3 to 4 benchers at the same time. Also, why are best players are in the entire 4th Q and given rest throughout the earlier parts of the game?

Lakers have always been my team.

However this year I started watching another team with another Gasol. The Memphis Grizzlies. I was looking at their lineup during the summer legue when suddenly I realized that they had so much untapped potential. The Grizzlies started 4-9 and were ranked 25th when I realized that they would be contenders this year (even after their horrid start) and if one of the Lakers superstars were injured that anything would be possible. I also thought that they would probably have a poor record the first half of the season but that through experience and knowing each other strengths and weaknesses and playing as a "team" that they had the right tools to become a very exiting team and be ranked 8th by ESPN website. That's exactly what occurred. If anyone wants to follow a storybook team, I'm so happy because I was so vested and even wrote all this before the regular season on this Lakers blog. They are my second favorite team right now! Kick the Spurs butt!!!

No offense intended, but if Satch Sanders is HOF material, so is Rob Horry!

re: CP3 being guarded by Bynum & Gasol.

Does anyone remember when there was a thread about the TALL lineup?

How invincible we'd be if we played Kobe, LO, Bynum Gasol & Artest on the
floor, at the same time?

Does anyone think that is a good idea today?

Posted by: hobbitmage

=======

If you're talking about subbing LO for Fish as related to guarding CP,
doesn't much matter, there isn't 1 Laker who can cover him anyway.

johnny,

I suppose you can have a 2nd Fav team, but gotta stick to Lakers 1st. I've been a NY Yankees and LA Lakers fan since Mick, Yogi and Whitey and Jerry and Elgin. "Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share," but I've stayed loyal and I don't give a care (my apologies to Led Zep, ha, ha)!

Zone up CP3, I just would like to try our Best 5 players at the same time. Lamar can bring the ball up. Don't see how it could hurt? Just a thought to mirror Hobbit.

Is it just me, but when the Lakers blew that game last night, I only saw Kobe throw a fit, the rest, oh, whatever.

Does anyone remember when there was a thread about the TALL lineup?

Are you trying to goad Lakertom into joining us again. Good thinkin.. Keep it up!

Winners at mostly all costs:

Rodman
Magic

MM

R u under some contractual obligation to feign interest in LO's show?

With the rapid fire threads, dropping this subject would be addition by subtraction... which I'm assuming is your conclusion? btw Seinfeld made something of nothing. I haven't seen K&L but I'm guessing it's less than nothing?

Whether by utilzing the tall lineup or not, it is abundantly clear that the Lakers cannot stop the pick & roll with their current defensive scheme. They should be zoning up and seeing if N.O. can beat them with outside shots. So far, no Hornet has shown an ability to consistently hit outside shots, so pack in a zone and let them try.

As far as Caracter is concerned, if he did assault the cashier or resisted arrest, I expect the Lakers (after getting the facts in) will release him before the end of the playoffs. Typically, professional sports contracts have morals clauses. And assaulting a cashier while publicly intoxicated and then resisting arrest would breach that clause.

But that's IF. We don't have all the facts yet, but it doesn't look good.

Derrick Caracter will most probably be playing in Russia next year, drinking Stoli and getting in bar brawls. How do you say "Fight Club" in Russian?

@johnny.. I was lionel hollins biggest critic when he permanently benched mayo (on my fantasy team) this year but now he's up 2-1 vs spurs without rudy gay their best player so now would be a good time to eat crow. For the record yellofever does NOT eat crow very often but here goes yum yum..

Solve the P&R, win the series.

Can I get an amen?

DBDH!

I realize Kobe has a mentality sometimes of not seeing the forest for the trees, but always plays hard and does what he thinks best (agreed not always correct). I look at all the rest of our guys and see this:

Artest-Solid D, off and on shooting
Gasol-Sure, soft, but he's never gonna be Shaq, plays well most of the time
Bynum-Playing well lately, but gets pushed out of a good post, Gasol too
Odom-Fairly consistent, but don't know when he's made a real difference
Fisher-Non-factor usually
Barnes-Tries hard
Blake-Over his head, evidently
Brown-Way too erratic
Walton-Unfortunately his days are numbered as a Laker, numbered TOO high
Smith-Who
Ratclif-Again, who

Just my assessment, where am I wrong?

I won't blog about the show unless there is anything newsworthy about it on the basketball court. I'm still obligated to DVR and watch it just in case that happens. But no I'm not contractually obligated to post anything about the show. I just figured when it first came out, some would be interested on how it'd turn out

The Triple-Tower starting lineup was tried out only once. This was last season against Portland when Kobe was on the injured list:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201002060POR.html

It was not successful. Andre Miller kept pushing the pace and the bigs could not get back quickly enough to set up the defense. Portland opened up a 10-pt lead by the second quarter and the Lakers abandoned the Triple Towers. They eventually caught up, using the more conventional Twin Towers combination.

A few posts back, I meant to say, "Why AREN'T our Best players in the entire or most of the 4th Q?"

I come here to get some reprieve from my angst towards the govt' taking away poker... but I used to come here in the past to reduce stress and strain that we have in everyday life.

And the Lakers aren't making my life any more enjoyable right now.

Dammit.

Play some freaking defense already. Set some off ball screens. Make some cuts. Pass the ball to the open guy. Put the ball in the basket. Just ****in get it DONE.

I don't want to hear any lame excuses. This is the Lakers we're talking about. Maybe triangulator is right - close the window to Jeanie's office; remove the banners from the practice facility. Whatever it takes. Get hungry. Fight like this is your first meal.

I'm so frustrated I could throw my computer across the room.... the only thing stopping me is that I KNOW Kobe is 10x more upset than I am, and he will put everyone else in check.

@DBDH

@DBDH.. Amen!
@MM...Halleluyah!

>>>For what it's worth, Derrick Caracter just tweeted this: "The truth will come
>>>out.. Believe me"

Yeah, it does sound kinda suspicious to me.

He was stoopid to be drunk and disorderly, but the fact that he was making a scene after the police arrived make me think that there's more to this than just refusing him service. That somehow Caracter thought HIS rights were being violated...

Must be the ppplayofffs - because (1) I'm back in and (2) there is panic after a loss. Matchups make basketball game and a series. The lakers are weak at point guard ... by the way to all johnny come latelies thast are arguing to get rid of Fish because he can't guard and Kobe is expending too much energy, 2000 and DS, 2001 and AI, 2002 and J-Kid, are calling and they want their argument back. Get over yourself.

The Lakers are weak at PF -- This Series -- Gasol is being outphysicaled by stronger PFs. Does not mean Gasol is a bad player (See Kwame Brown) -- does not mean Gasol is soft (Circa Suns 1998 - present) -- does not mean that Gasol might as well hang it up (See Vince Carter). It means that the matchup is bad for him ... This Series. He will be fine against Dallas - and yes it will be Dallas.

Never count out a black momba in a corner.

Art, I think what hobbit was saying is use the tall lineup and Zone Up. With the added wingspans the lanes can be closed much quicker provided that they don't back peddle and communicate quicker.

Other problem is that CP3 and Ariza both are playing 40+ minutes compared to 36 or less for our starters. They can afford to do it since all they are trying to do is extend the series and possibly eek out an upset. What have they got to lose? They are not planning ahead for the Finals, Western Conference Finals or even the next series. They can afford to play extended minutes.

With that said, LO became a liability on the offensive end. He needs to step up so that the bench isn't a liability.

However, with 4 starters in double figures there is no reason the Lakers should have lost. Their lack of energy on the boards did them in. This series is reminiscent of the Houston series after they lost Yao. The Lakers didn't take them seriously enough and ended having to play a series instead of taking care of business and getting some rest.

Good or Bad. That's my take.

This is a slightly longer article on the Caracter incident at IHOP:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/2011/04/25/2011-04-25_lakers_forward_derrick_caracter_arrested_in_new_orleans_ihop_after_hitting_pregn.html?r=sports

At the bottom of the article, it discusses some of Derrick's problems with Rick Pitino while at college:
---
While he has stayed out of trouble since turning pro, Caracter had numerous issues in college. He transferred from Louisville following his sophomore year after coach Rick Pitino said he was academically ineligible.

"He just has too many issues to overcome, academically and otherwise, to be a Louisville Cardinal," Pitino told the Louisville Courier-Journal at the time. "The best thing for him would be to go to a different place."

He was suspended many times during his career in Louisville and an exasperated Pitino even called him "a major thorn in my side" at one news conference.

Like the PSP said, Hobbit will not be happy when he comes back and sees you guys say he is advocating the TALL lineup, because he absolutely disagrees with it. :-)

Good job, yello ... the PSP has you pencilled in for an award, coming soon to our beloved blog.

Thanks

DBDH!

Instead of "Khloé & Lamar" they should air a show called "Caracter's Character" and follow him around to various pancake houses. Whoops! My bad! It already exists. It's called "COPS"!

Seriously, I hope it all turns out to be more media puffery. Makes me long for the Kwame Brown "Cake Fight!" days if it is true.

Triangulator,

Thanks for the commentary.
I don't think that's what hobbit is saying though, I think he was being sarcastic.
He has been against the big line up.

Any news on Kobe's ankle?

Kardashians are the very definition of GOLD DIGGERS. They have no apparent talent besides posing in stilettos and flapping their yaps and hunting male athletes for husbands. They bore me to tears, and when Heather Cox and her handlers at ESPN determined that it was relevant to mention dummy Khloe's tweet about Lamar's knee boo boo I almost puked. I remain loyal to Lamar, a man whose life has been so tough his sensitivity shows in his eyes, who also manages to deliver in a consistent super hero fashion for the Lakers. If joining the Golddigger Family has made him more stable, then more power to him. I am on his side and if the Golddiggers ever cross him, I will volunteer to come to his rescue. Find him a good divorce lawyer, or something.
My advice to the K-Golddiggers? Go get an education. Better yourselves. Become lawyers or doctors or veterinarians or something so we can find a reason to respect you.

For those old-timers who are truly disgusted with today's brand of Lakers basketball this old-timer would like to point to the root cause of it all: where the buck stops.

This all started when Lakers began practicing the kind of wacko, touchy-feely zen crap brand of basketball. It's all marketing hype and smoke and mirror to hide the fact that it's nothing more than one-on-one basketball relying on the best Lakers players to beat the opponents.

"Let the players figure it out for themselves" is nothing more than an excuse to be lazy, unimaginative and unwilling to properly coach a basketball team right down to the fundamentals such as defending the P n R.

Anybody who watches the Lakers play and think they are a WELL-DISCIPLINED and WELL-COACHED team know nothing about basketball or for that matter have half a brain.

Talking about an OVER-RATED coach and his staff.

Yeah I agree, win or lose I will be glad to see a new coach next year.

PS: Hopefully it won't be anybody remotely connected to this AWFULLY LAME coaching staff of today.

It has some obvious advantages and disadvantages. We have seen that Chris Paul can easily score on just about any Laker but it would be Kobe on him most of the time, not Pau or Andrew. On the other side, the tall lineup would force Chris Paul to guard either Kobe or Artest.

Your anti-Phil rants FAIL every time! Remember, Phil Jackson is 54-1 when his teams hold a lead at any point in a playoff series and 11-0 when his teams win Game 3 after being tied 1-1. Love him or get frustrated by him, those are Philip by the Numbers.

I don't know how much of an "old-timer" you are, but I've been a close fan of this sport for over 42 years and Phil Jackson is hands down the greatest coach who ever lived. If Phil pulls off his fourth three-peat, he will have as many three-peats as Gregg Popovich has championships. I'm sure you don't think he is OVERRATED. The truth of the matter is that somehow Phil gets his players to think for themselves. Now there's a concept! He's also a lot smarter with X' and O's than you can imagine. Remember when he crawled into Jameer Nelson's cranium in Game 4 in 2009 by inbounding the ball at the far end rather than at half court and isolating Fish on him for the game tying three? SVG didn't prepare his players for that stroke of genius, now did he?

Anyone who pretends to understand Phil Jackson's coaching techniques and Zen ways other than management, coaching staff and the players who have played for him are simply ignorant. His level of basketball genius is in such a high stratosphere that no one can figure out how he does it. While otehr head coaches in the NFL mimicked Bill Walsh's West Coast Offense, no other coach has quite figured out how to teach the triangle. It's a testament to Phil's genius.

Psycorp, you have absolutely no idea whatsoever what you are talking about and there is nothing you can point to other than your own blind hatred for the man that supports the wacky things you say about Coach Eleven Rings. While it is true that we are all entitled to our opinions, there is no rason why bloggers shouldn't feel free to run ramshod over the absurd comments you make about the greatest head coach in North American pro sports history.

Oh, and if anything, he's UNDERRATED.

When the Lakers win, I get to come in here and read about how their switch is flipped and they'll never lose again. When they lose, I get to come in and see all of the bloggers turning on each other and about how the team is fatally flawed and needs to acquire every all-star free agent available. love you girlie & lamar love you too.......Go lakers ........

I agree with most of the comments that PJ had to much faith and trust in the reserve in these playoff games. Some of the starters, Kobe and Ronnie, should be brought back before we're down by almost 10 points. I lost faith in Shannon and his erratic and turnover prone games. Trey J should be given a chance to play instead of Blake who is like Shannon, prefers to dribble around for 15 seconds before trying to make a bad pass to our pansies PF which usually ended up in turnovers. Pau is a skill PF but his lack of effort and hustle do wear me out this year. I've tried emphatically calling out for the management to find a backup PG once it appears that Blake is not the answer and Fish is getting too old, I couldn't believe that our bench this year would be much weaker than the one we had last year. Sasha would fill a great role as a back up PG for Fish instead of Blake. He is not afraid to shoot in the clutch and unlike Shannon who I can no longer stand. Only Bynum is a bright spot this season despite his below average effort on Sunday.

I can see Kobe's frustration after Pau fumbled the near perfect pass under the basket and we're down by 3 points. What a joke this guy is for being a 7 footer but got outmuscled by a 6'7" Landry or 6' 10" scrub like Okafor. His 4 rebounds effort was beyond pathetic!

And with respect to CP3, this guy is making a fool of our defense and lack thereof. We can't continue to use Kobe as a band-aid knowingly DFish who got blown time and time again over the past 3 years by a quick PGs. His bumping style of defense is no longer works! At this point, I wish PJ would give Trey a chance to slow down Paul and let Kobe be the Black Mamba!

Go Lakers!

Re Caracter: R u friggin kidding me? Please tell me you say this in jest! NOTHING should provoke one into battery short of self defense or the protection of others. Character, use this as a turning point and get the help you obviously need.

Fish is old period...why this player playing above 30 mins..fisher stop acting as a leader of the team, while in fact u can't your pg opponent...I still believe lakers will win wid Kobe's effort...be patience lakers fun..Kobe will not let as down..

kobemvp888 vs bull 1/2 empty vs eddievslew....The Priest loves a good smackdown by the kobe lovers. Eddie are you from cuba cause you was quick to talk about banning people for giving their opinions. That sounds like a communist background. 1/2 empty so the kobemvp888 story was complete horse manure you say? Lol....Boys boys boys ccccaan't we all just get along?

I don't think many of us will miss your K&L updates.

I'm happy for the couple, they seem to have a positive effect on each other. I love how Lamar has been playing since Khloe came into his life. She's been great for him, and I'd guess he's been good for her as well.

But frankly, that's the extent of my interest, and I suspect, on this blog, I'm not alone.

OMG - Rob shut the @#$% up - it was clear to me Lamar's comment was when they see us in person she is not small - Lamar is tall (a big guy) and Khloe can hold her own against him. KHLOE UR FINE. I am a big bone girl too with curves in all the right spots - and the men LOVE me. On the real u know the brothas like us best. We can sport all the hot clothes and make them look so much better then these anerexic bitches. :-)

Honestly, Kim may be prettty but her butt bugs me and seriously can not stand Kourtney’s neck, please teach her to wear her hair down, it is NOT flattering. And ur man is 200% better then that using, insincere, fake ass man of hers.

One last note, I think its great that Lamar has ur family and has fallen in so well with them...got him a brother and all, especially given his family status, but really - Rob's got to go!!! Lamar gets a little childish when Rob's around and he needs to grow up and stand on his own. Ur a married, business woman and need to make a family for urself. Big ups for checkin Jamie, he needed it.

Just to reiterate, u are NOT fat in anyway, and even u said a while back u feel comfortable in ur own skin with Lamar, and that's all u need to be concerned with - screw Chris, Rob, and any other idiot that is jealous of ur success, beauty, and talent. .

Stay up!!!
