Oh! Yeah!!!!!

that was a proper beatdown.
exactly what should've happened...

Lakers win # 8 in the 8th of March. China man says that's a lucky number. Three games in a row, my MVP of the game is Drew Bynum.

"This is the NBA: No Boys Allowed," Jackson said. "Big boys don't cry. But, if you're going to do it, do it in the toilet where no one can see."

OMG Phil! You really didn't need to give Miami any additional motivation for the Lakers' road game vs. the Heat. He's either genius, oblivious, adding more pressure on the Heat stars or is just getting the Lakers to play all out on Thurs. I'm going to be subjective here and go with the latter! Oy Vey!!

"It's very important for us to go out here and do what we need to do on this road trip and win these games. Fortunately, there are not back-to-backs, so we have a day to prepare for each of them. So we really want to win these games, not just for the standings, but to send a message and let everybody know we're here and we're serious." A Bynum - 3/4/11

"Everything about the Lakers is geared toward winning playoff games. It's what they do." J.A. Adande

"Even when we didn’t make the playoffs, I thought we'd win the championship." Dr. Buss

"WHEN WILL LEBRON TAKE HIS TALENTS TO THE 4TH QUARTER?" LOSO

Go Lakers & In Buss We Trust!!

Heat Fans: "We Want Riley! We Want Riley!" - priceless.. just plain priceless

Kevin McHale on NBA TV: "It's all over, but the crying" in Miami.

Great game again, especially from Bynum. But they all looked good to me (confession: I only caught parts of the game since I am still at work, but it was during that 3rd quarter run that blew the Hawks away).

Oh, yeah. LOVED that the Blazers took the Heat to the woodshed. Game just finished now. Lots of tears in Heatland tonight.

Maybe they should bottle them and sell them at the concession stand.

"Tears" ~ ~ ~ by LeBr~n

or..."Wade in a stream of Dwa~yne~'s sad, sad teardrops"

"Hot-Tears" fr~m the Heat

or...make up your own "Brand" motto.

Miami Heat update...

Chris Botch had his lunch money and sneakers taken away by LaMarcus Aldridge tonight. LA-26 pts. CB_7pts. Ouch! Bosh only had 4 rebs. to boot.

LeBron and DWade played great, but the bench had only 8 points. Closing the game for the Heat?....Bosh, James, Wade, Bibby and Chalmers...no real center and no shot blocker.

Still, a wounded animal is dangerous. The Lakers need to take their talents to South Beach on Thursday and add to the heat on the Heat.

Lake Show needs to bring full 48 minutes of "A" game to beat the Heat next game!

Andrew Bynum with the SWEET 16 double double! The Lakers played great team defense, limiting Atlanta to mainly outside shots. In addition, the Lakers ran their offense very efficiently, complete with some very nice hockey assists. Keep on doing whatcha doing, Lakers!!

Andrew Bynumite Baybee!!!

16 pts
3 ast
16 re
3 blk

Can't rebound, slow, not dedicated, likes soccer, can't defend, injury prone, a bust, trade him for Melo, for Bosh, for Kwame, for DJ Mbenga, etc...hehehehehe

Lake Show needs to bring full 48 minutes of "A" game to beat the Heat next game!
Posted by: NuggetsCountry | March 08, 2011 at 07:32 PM

--------------

Why!!! We only need to play 36 minutes...they have no talent in the 4th qtr...

LMAO

Dan Loumena congrats on a good win tonight...Now the pressure is on us not to be the team to end the losing streak...lol

Andrew Bynum is finally getting it. Just stay healthy, Andrew!

Posted by: NuggetsCountry | March 08, 2011 at 07:32 PM

Agreed, NC...I gotta think that the Lakers will be motivated on Thursday and want to show the Heat a thing or two. The Heat ruined Xmas day for The Show and their fans. Champions have long memories.

2-0 on the roadie....one game at a time.

Lakers will probably have an off day in Miami, so they need to stay thirsty and focused! No time for a letdown.

La Time Lakers blog always has the stupidest comments around. This coming from a Laker fan of 30 years.

Andrew Bynum is finally getting it. Just stay healthy, Andrew!

Posted by: LakerPeace | March 08, 2011 at 07:46 PM

______________

It's the only caveat for the Lakers' season. He's got to stay healthy. He has to avoid situations where he can get injured. He has to be in all of the games from here on out.

That being said, I would still trade Drew for Howard. The "health thing" is a huge issue. I think L.A. will have no choice. Howard has made it known he wants to come here. Orlando doesn't want to lose him and get nothing in return. With a "swap," they get the next best thing in Drew. I say it happens but right now, it's all about this season, the Finals and a 17th banner. Drew is the key and it's as simple as that.

All the Lakers have to do against Miami is just playing as a team. It could be a good test for the Lakers not to fall into "one-on-one" basketball, Kobe vs Wade, LeBron vs Artes, and Gasol vs Bosh, etc. If the Lakers keep playing "inside-out," no team can beat them. It will be interesting to see "how" the Lakers will play against the Heat.

Israel, thank you for explaining what the ACB statistical evaluation is. Sounds like Ayon had a very good game. I'm curious how NBA players would do using that same formula.

My grandmother came from Tenerife. Her parents immigrated to Cuba around the time she was born, in 1907, so she left as an infant. She never returned to the island as far as I know. My father-in-law visited Tenerife last year, he had a great time.

I would very much like to go, it is something that I will do one day. I would also like to visit Andalusia, where my grandfather was born.

Are you a Laker fan? A Pau Gasol fan? It's great to see you here, hope you post some more.

Chris Webber ripped coach Spoelstra a new one in the Fan Night postgm on NBA TV. He also made a great point, the meat would have to lose only one more game to finish with the same record the Cavs had last season. I wonder if he is really starting to regret The Decision now...

- - -

Yes, the Beast has been unleashed! NO STOPPING THE TRAIN NOW!!!

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

Fisher looks like a different player ever since Kwame Brown pulled his elbow. Thanks "again" Kwame!!

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!

i think pj pick the wrong time to run his mouth.why give the
heat extra incentive to play harder against the lakers.just
my opinion.go lakers go lakers.

It's too late in the season for Riley to fire Spoelstra.

REASON: Riley won't risk losing as head coach in the playoffs.

Spoelstra will be Fiedler once they get knocked out of the playoffs.

Riley will take over next year IF and ONLY IF he can add a legitimate big.

Otherwise, he'll try to

Cont.

Sign Coach Sloan...

LAKER TOM VINDICATED!!!!!

I have been one of Andrew Bynum's biggest supporters over the years.

When he was drafted, I said, "YES!!!"

When there were calls for trades, I screamed, "NOO!!!"

Yet, there has been no bigger booster, no man (NO MAN!) who has witnessed the potential Greatness of Andrew Bynum than our own Laker Tom.

Laker Tom has experienced 6 CONTINUOUS YEARS OF ATTACKS AND DEBATES AND CHALLENGES FOR HIS SUPPORT OF ANDREW BYNUM!!! DAY IN AND DAY OUT!!!!

No Lakeraholic has stuck to his guns about a particular player like our own treasured Laker Tom!

Laker Tom has supported Andrew Bynum more than Jim Buss for God's sake!

And over this win streak, Andrew Bynum has BEGUN to return the favor and shown that Lakeraholics (BUT MOST ESPECIALLY LAKER TOM!) who have supported Andrew Bynum FOR YEARS against all the trolls, doubters, and chicken littles... well, maybe we were onto something.

Andrew Bynum, tonight I toast you.

Laker Tom, tonight I salute you.

Proceed.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

That is, Riley will try to sign Coach Sloan if he doesn't get a legitimate big to justify his taking over the reigns again...

frmkt,

""This is the NBA: No Boys Allowed," Jackson said. "Big boys don't cry. But, if you're going to do it, do it in the toilet where no one can see."

Dude, this is Phil Jackson at his sardonic best.

The Zen Master is also a Master Psychologist. The walls of LeBron's narcissistic shall are beginning to crack. Phil's about winning. Time to crack the shell.

Thursday we are going to see the beginning of the end of LeBron.

You thought Charlie Sheen was bad.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

As for Drew, ANDREW BYNUM IS FANTASTIC!!!

And I can honestly say I have supported Drew and NEVER called for him being traded. Search the archives if you doubt me...

As for the Miami Measles, don't take this game for granted. Luckily, the Measles aren't contagious once you've already had them.

Time to send back the Fruit Cake they served us on Xmas day...

Laker Peace,

Kwame straightened the elbow of the Fish so he improved his shooting accuracy.

CyberCosmiX,

Since you have links in Spain, this is the best time to travel during off season, get a euro rail pass and u will save a lot. Take a vacation, your long lost relatives would welcome u with open arms as they be waiting for you to spend those mighty dollars. lol! Time your visit during lent. Canary Islands and Andalucia was featured on Travel Channel if I'm not mistaken by Rick Steves, a travel guru. You can also visit the site of Virtual Tourist and there are groups there who'd exchange info about the place, where to stay and what to see at budget travel. However, you will be missing the blog and the Lakers.

Who should be the next Coach? My vote is Coach K or the Showtime Lakers w/ Brian S. as one of the assistant coaches. I find Brian S. too young to be the head coach, he could not even handle the nutty Slovenian in the recent past. He needs more coaching time outside of the triangle or perhaps coach another team in the small market like Kings. Lakers and their fans is a pressure vessel place for a young coach. He could easily become another Eric Spoelestra who is not a good teacher and a disciplinarian.

CyberCosmiX/Edwin Gueco,

I've got a thing for islamds.

Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to visit the Canary Island, the Cape Verde Islands, Madeira Islands, Iceland, Greenland and the Falkland Islands.

All are extraordinarily special places.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

AMEN!

I join you in saluting LakerTom, toasting Andrew Bynum. Tom has certainly has taken more than his fair share of flak over the years. His steadfast, unwavering defense of Drew is going to pay off in huge dividends for years to come - and that is a great thing for all Laker fans!

Bynum has certainly has turned a corner with his psyche, his approach in these games. Something has set him off, triggered him. I believe it was he that initiated the meeting with Phil in order to discuss an increased defensive role. That is very impressive for a 23-yr old player to do in and of itself, but the vigor he's displayed defensively is beautiful.

We have seen glimpses of greatness with him for several years now, and we are just starting to scrape the surface with Drew. He's still a few years from entering his prime and he's already at this level???

As he keeps piling up dominant performances, one after another, it will be hard not recognize just what kind of player the Lakers have on their hand.

Mikan - Wilt - Kareem - Shaq. Drew still has a lot of work to get to the level each of them got to, but even the most skeptical Laker fans have to see that the next Great One is amongst us, and he's only 23.

Something LakerTom has been telling us all along...

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

Wish I'd have caught that Travel Channel show, will look to see if they replay it sometime. Having kids though, and the wife in nursing school, will be something for the future. A friend that went to Iceland and the Faroe Islands says it was the greatest trip he has ever taken.

I also got something for islands, sadly only have spent a couple hours on several Caribbean ones as stops on a cruise. My mother says she can never live far from water having grown up on islands most of her life.

One day.....

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

Ron Artest seems to enjoy playing basketball again!!! Good for him. No one's mentioning the return of Matt Barnes. He is the energizer of the Lakers. Good to see him playing again! Hope to see both of them tormenting LeBron and Wade on Thursday.

Why do we need revenge for XMas...That and this game means nothing except some trash talk for a fleeting period...

Even if we lost to the Cheats thurs, do people in here still think they are a better team...Do we still need to FEAR the Cheats, like I have read here so many times since LeBrick sign with them...

This is a Lakers Dynasty...no matter what happens this year...The Next Generation...and Andrew Bynum will be a big part of it...

Book it Dano...in the archives for the GHE Club to dig up later for one of the 'archives' posts...

Props to those who kept the faith, and props to those who can admit they were WRONG...

CyberCosmiX,

"Mikan - Wilt - Kareem - Shaq"... Drew.

Yeah, man.

Seriously, dude, if Andrew reaches that potential (the potential we all know he has, centers don't reach their potential until 27-29) he will open up a Championship window for this team for years.

Kobe could seriously begin chasing Bill Russell instead of Michael Jordan.

Yeah.

Fricken yeah.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

Andrew Bynum took away any inside game from Al Horford. Forced Al to take mainly long jumpers and Drew blocked two of those! When your center can control the middle and take away the paint from the opposing center...AND...chase that center all the way out to the three point line, then you have got a primo defensive center!

And I loved Drew's reaction after he forced a travel on Joe Johnson late in the 4th Q. The young man was hyped!! Phil rewarded Drew's resurgent defense with long 4th quarter minutes and the Beast made the most of those minutes.

Jon K...you need to visit the Philippine Islands...

Lewstrs,

I've heard of the beauty of the Philippines. I've researched their history. I just wonder about the crazy humidity. It seems like it's pretty humid there. I sweat easily.

The woman are beautiful, though.

{By the way, I'm still a little amazed that under the Spanish Empire, the Philippines was considered a province of Mexico. Very strange.}

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

So, I did a Bio-Chrono Reading on Steve Blake...

There are four possible reasons he's not playing as well as he can (in order of likelihood):

1. Love life problems
2. Feels like he's not accepted/doesn't belong
3. Is concerned that he's not being given a significant enough role
4. Financial issues

More tomorrow.

(By the way, his make up is great for a point guard. He certainly is playing the right position.)

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

GO

I hate to be a Debbie Downer...but lets not get ahead of ourselves and start counting chips this year or in the future before they hatch. There's still a long way to go this season. The eight game streak is nice, but my calendar still shows March.

Yes, Drew has been great since the break and Kudos to LT and those that never lost faith in Drew. But also kudos to those that also that believed in LO enough to allow him to do his TV show, that didn't want to stick a fork in Ron, that didn't want to ship Pau out of town, that didn't want to give PJ and/or staff their walking papers, that didn't relegate the team to view "only if they're winning" status, etc.

This TEAM is built to win the championship in June...not in December or March. I'll enjoy these victories and the success along the way. But no one here or with the Lakers should feel fully vindicated until the LO trophy is being toasted again.

Fisher looks like a different player ever since Kwame Brown pulled his elbow. Thanks "again" Kwame!!

Bronx,

I enjoyed that also. The enthusiasm Drew showed on that play was inspiring. His continued excellent play has given Phil more options on how to close games.

Lakers can't afford to lose to anyone right now... to catch the Ceptics, it will take a monumental "run the table" type of post all-star close out. The likes of which we've never seen

I am still on my self imposed ban from posting after losses. Funny thing though, haven't had to actually skip any time here since I decided to put it into effect

@LEWSTRS and anyone else praising the Blazers . . . that was a strange game with both teams looking fantastic at times and both looking kind of sloppy. But you have to love Western Conference teams racking up victories back East. That was P-town's seventh win in a row on the road, all but two against the East.

If the Lakers take care of business Thursday as they've been doing since the All-Star break (and I see no reason why they won't dominate again), Miami's downward spiral continues. Then again, the Heat will eventually get to play conference and division rivals to close out the last two weeks of the season, so they have time to get back on track for the playoffs. They're 29-12 in conference and 9-3 in division, so they have plenty of opportunity to take out their frustrations on weaklings.

I'm off tomorrow. I know there's a post set to go live in the morning. I'll be back on duty Thursday to run the live chat, etc.

Take care Lakerholics.

Reasons why Riley will NOT want to Coach the Heat:

Sloan's system is based on a set of good/average players, each performing their role and playing tough-as-nails defense.

In all of Sloan teams, there has been a gritty/strong/physical PF - Karl Malone, Boozer and now Big Al.

His system also flourishes due to a pure-PG. Stockton and Williams are big examples.

In Miami, this is not true. They have a bunch of super-stars or players who think they are super-stars, and scraps - These are not players who are ready to accept their roles and play. They also lack a physical PF. Bosh is not someone who loves to get physical or play in the post. Wade and James can do the ball handling, but they are not PGs.

Sloan has coached too long in the league, and does not like/want someone to oversee his duties sitting over hin. Erk is very young, and he likes and accepts Riley's dominance. Sloan would not want to keep looking around his back to see if his seat is in trouble. He is too proud, too good and too experienced to have that sort of crap.

He needs the system, where he is THE boss, and the players listen to him. In Miami this is not true as well. Its going to be James having the ball 70% of the time in the final possession, and the other 30% is going to be Wade. Sloan's teams dont do that.

So, I DONT see Sloan coaching the Heat!!

Reasons why Riley will NOT want to Coach the Heat:So, I DONT see Sloan coaching the Heat!! Posted by: Stefan Martin | March 09, 2011 at 01:07 AM

OK Sloan won't coach Heat, but I thought this was about reasons why Riley won't coach.

@Israel - thanks for the clarification. Even without the fancy mathmatical evaluation those numbers = good production.

I was lucky enough to visit the islands of Cape Verde, Madeira, and the Falkland Islands. They are wonderful.
I am impartial to the Canary Islands and I'd rather not say.

Very nice win again!!!

8 & O! Now, Magic is excited!

Let's pray that Andrew will stay healthy all throughout. He is playing amazing! KUDOS TO DREW!

Now, bring on the Heat! I'm sure Kobe and the gang remembers the Christmas Day humiliation. It's payback!

LAKERS ALL DAY!!!

Jerry Sloan is not gonna coach any team in the NBA unless Kobe demands his services in LA. Yeah I know he has been successful with PF and PG. His specialty is defense and organized offense.

I would love to see him win Coach of the Year, and see him win a title in LA. He deserves it. Loyalty, it goes a long way.

Coach Sloan has always said good things about the Lakers, specially about KOBE.

@CyberCosmiX -

* Israel, thank you for explaining what the ACB statistical evaluation is. Sounds like Ayon had a very good game. I'm curious how NBA players would do using that same formula.

ATLANTA HAWKS
Josh Smith 15
Marvin Williams 3
Al Horford 20
Joe Johnson -3
Kirk Hinrich 10
Jamal Crawford 4
Damien Wilkins 9
Zaza Pachulia 15
Jeff Teague -2

LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Ron Artest 2
Pau Gasol 18
Andrew Bynum 32
Kobe Bryant 25
Derek Fisher 11
Lamar Odom 12
Matt Barnes 7
Steve Blake 4
Shannon Brown 3

The statistics said that the MVP of the game is Bynum

* Are you a Laker fan? A Pau Gasol fan? It's great to see you here, hope you post some more.

I'm a fan of basketball. I usually watch games acb, nba, Euroleague and Eurocup. Gasol is a great PF. Pau has many skills, but I do not like playing in the last game because he no takes advantage. Only time will tell how good it is Spanish.
My opinion of the lakers? Great teams are measured by their opponents. James + Wade + Bosch. Amare + Melo, .....
Beware denver. Before it was Melo's team, now is the team of George Karl. The coach has the players who likes

MM Good job with the forum. Two years I've been reading the forum Latimer. I really like.

Excuse my pitiful English

Great game by Bynum again, domination on defense.
He is reaching is peak form, I hope he stays healthy and continues focused on his role.

In every rebound battle it seems Andrew wants the rebound (just like old Uncle Wiltie! and not like lazy Shaq).

And rest of the team is playing great too.

I hope the team keeps the focus for next game and competes like it is just another game and don't enter the drama.

Miami = ruh-oh... (Scooby-Doo style)

Lakers = Oh, yeah! ("Macho Man" Randy Savage style)

DBDH!

Thursday is now a TRAP GAME. Hope the Lakers don't overlook the Heat in preparing for the Big Game Saturday against the Mavs. LOL

One of the funniest things I've read this morning!

We have all seen glimmers of this Drew throughout his career. Even when he was 17, he had moments:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPRqhNK6g6g

I have often wondered if that potential would ever be reached. Never more so than this season when he played with such a lack of energy and caring if we won or lost. Many of my posts were explaining to him (as if he reads this stuff ;-) how he is the biggest guy in the NBA and should play like it. I hope that is behind us now and he is ready to step into his role as the most dominant player in the league. Shaq was the most dominant player. It is Drew's turn. The way it is set up, the official changing of the guard could happen in the finals.

I was thinking the switch was defense and I was partly right. The switch was mostly Drew.

I think the whole team watched that all star game and thought to themselves, “I have to be the luckiest guy on the face of the earth. I am playing on a team with a living legend. It is not fair to him and his legacy not to give it my all every night. “

Blake actually took more than one shot last night which was great. He was 1-3, but his 1 was a 3-pointer. He also had 4 assists and a steal in 16 minutes. Looking at his career, he seems to shoot well from 3 point land. This year, not so much… What is different? Certainly a lot of pressure... I thought maybe he wasn’t use to being open all the time, but another blogger pointed out that he shot better when he was set… There goes that theory… Maybe he needs to go see Ron’s guy?

Another part of the switch is rotations. Phil has tightened it up quite a bit since the all star break. The bench guys not named Lamar only played 16 minutes.

We always use to have a couple of guys that would come off the bench that liked to run. It would push the tempo of the game right at the point the opposing team thinks it is getting a breather with Kobe out. Now that Barnes is back, that seems to be remedied. He is high-energy, so he keeps the opponent guessing. If our bench doesn’t run, the opposing coach is more likely to leave his starters in for a while longer and try to get back in the game.

As Drew is coming into his own, the downside is less Lamar. Less Lamar is bad. We need the triple towers. Not as the starting line-up, but we need it.

Lamar
Kobe
Ron
Pau
Drew

They are our five best players. 4 of them should have been on the all star team. The other is the best defensive stopper in the league. Put them on the floor together. The little guards are getting by our guards as it stands. Lamar can handle the ball as good as anyone. Magic was 6’9 and played point. It didn’t seem to be a problem. He won five championship rings.

Match Ups:
Wade/Fish – Advantage Heat
Kobe/Chalmers – Advantage Lakers
Drew/Dampier – Advantage Lakers
James/Ron – We will find out
Pau/Bosh – Advantage Lakers
Bench – Advantage Lakers
Coaching – Advantage Lakers
Venue – Advantage Heat
Momentum – Advantage Lakers

Looks like a win!!!

“We’re taking our tissues to South Beach.”

Go Lakers.

onto the miami weeps. i rather doubt that pj's sardonic comments will whip the weeps into a frenzy. they are lucky that there is a charlie sheen in the world who is sadly, sharing with the world his suffering. there is an interesting possibility in the weeps situation that may occur, however. i can see a split in the three amigos, with d.wade calling the princess out , privately and remind him that he,wade is not an extra in princess jimmy's movie. james is not the closer that wade is. much like c.sheen, jimmy is a true believer in his own pr.

Count me among those that didn’t like PJ’s comments about the Heat. The last time he commented on coach Spoles troubles the Heat won 19 out of 20 games.

@DBDH – Scooby Doo – lol.

@Tidal – Excellent observations

@Israel – your English is just fine. Your bball knowledge is very good also. Keep posting.

I saw a Laker team that was very committed on defense last night, individually as well as collectively. Ron Artest continues to remind everyone why his defense is so valuable. He was draped over Joe Johnson, and helped hold him to 4-14 from the field. DFish (yeah, that's right) hassled Hinrich and gave him so little space that Kurt was frustrated to the point of pushing off several times. Bynum shut down the middle and held the Hawks to one and done, finishing off the defense with textbook rebounding. A lot of good things on D, things that translate to winning PLAYOFF basketball.

Nice observations Israel about the Nuggets, the trade seemed to favored the chemistry of the veterans and the newcomers. They didn't missed the PG in Billups, in fact added more speed with the combination of Lawson and Felton. The void that was felt on Anthony was replicated by two good shooters Gallinari and Chandler. Confidence was restored from the veterans like KMart, Hilario, Anderson, Affalo and Smith. Although they lost to Clippers in LA, the Nuggets are 5-2 since ASG. Another team worth watching are the Suns, they're also 5-2 since All Stars. I think the teams in West with less Superstars are more aggressive and stable than the East.

Crying players and a talk-trashing Coach don't mean anything, it's all for the show like a movie prelude to entice audience and junkies in the media. Lakers has to equalize their match with the Heat. The latter won last Christmas day and this time, it's Lakers time.

Great to see Drew playing this well. Great to see him healthy.

Sports is about right now. Tiger has stalled at 14 majors and everyone's talkin' his demise. Even Kobe wanted to trade Drew when he was healthy. I wondered, as did Tex, about his fire but never considered a trade save the KG option which KG worked out for us back when we were desperate about Kobe's timetable.

Drew's health was the only reason for caution, and frankly, still is. He takes a while to get up to speed after healing, and if you use this level of play as the yard stick, his continued health is critical.

But it's about now, and now's the time to hi five LT and the AB support crew for incredible dedication to Drew. Go Lakers!

Now come the Heat. Earlier this year, my co-workers and I had a spirited discussion about NBA basketball. I, of course, was repping the Lakers. I tried to explain my theory to them that LeBron James will never be a winner on the ultimate stage until he relinquishes control of the ball. LeBron is enamored with stats, triple doubles in particular. He sees himself as Magic Johnson II. LeBron, IMO, would be best served by developing a go-to game in the post. Basketball is a simple game. The closer you are to the basket, the better. LeBron is a great passer who could take advantage of double teams if he were more apt to post up. With his size and athletic ability, he'd be a nightmare in the post. Fortunately, Brawny is too busy chasing stats and not interested in doing any dirty work. Personally, I hope he never changes.

I also agree with LRob that it's only March, don't jump overboard in thinking that we are already in the Finals. Lakers performance this season is swinging like a pendulum which started with 8-0, became cold as the winter approaches, came back alive as we approach Spring. Does it mean anything? Well it's true, season games are just a preparation of the playoffs. At this time, whatever Lakers will accomplish, the HCA goes to the Spurs in the West. However, Lakers had the psychological advantage when they won in SA, it means that they can nullify any home court advantage. This time try to work on Boston, Miami, Magic and Bulls with an end in view that Lakers will be in the Finals. The objective remains constant while the strategies in getting there goes with ebb and flow of the competition. Lakers can win them all if they don't fall sleep or slip back to manana habit again.

The latter won last Christmas day and this time, it's Lakers time. Posted by: Edwin Gueco | March 09, 2011 at 07:42 AM

Good Morning Mamba24!!!

Good Morning BronxLakerfan, nice game last night my brother huh? LOL!

Mamba24,

What do you think about the Heat head coach, is this Riley announcement of come back?

Don't cry for me Pat Riley
The truth is we never left you
All through our wild plays
Our bad existence
We kept our promise
Don't keep your distance

And as for fortune, and as for fame
We never invited them in
Though it seemed to Stearn and ESPN they were all we desired

They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
We love South Beach and hope you still love us.

Don't cry for us Pat Riley
We will do the crying instead.

Seeing andrew bynum finally get it and accept his role as a defensive minded rebounding center is a sight to behold.. But not let's get carried away we still have one whole month of regular season basketball so let's save the salutes n champagne once andrew can show us he can do this CONSISTENTLY for another month.. but please everyone don't hide ur emotions just let it out cry if you have to cause I know this is an exciting time to be a lakerfan

And how about a little love for RON RON... Don't hear much about him cause his contributions don't show up on the statsheet but he deserves as much praise as anyone else on the team.. The man is playin LIGHTS OUT SHUTDOWN defense... In our 8 game win streak he's shutdown the likes of joe johnson TWICE, manu, stephen jackson, beasley and durant... So how bout a little love for RON RON I say YOU!!!!

8 in a row! I swear I have to get some work done today and quit basking in Laker-shine!

@Mamba24...

Yeah, my brother...nothing I like better in the regular season than a Laker win and a Cryami loss....wait, we can have both rolled into one tomorrow night!!

So how bout a little love for RON RON I say YOU!!!! Posted by: yellofever | March 09, 2011 at 08:20 AM

PUT RON ARTEST ON NBA ALL DEFENSIVE 1st. TEAM – BANDWAGON
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRkLp3ixrzQ&feature=related
*________________________________________________________________*
(01) PSYCHEDLAKERGIRL - OWNER - Jon K - yes!! I absolutely agree with Ron Artest on the All Defensive Team. Maybe we should start that bandwagon right now so he gets our early message!!!!
(02) JON K. - DRIVER - By the way, if Ron Artest isn't selected to the All-Defensive Team this year, there's going to be a riot in David Stern's soon-to-be-burning house.
(03) YELLOFEVER – CO/DRIVER - And how about a little love for RON RON...
(04) MAMBA24 - RIDING SHOTGUN - NO RON ON DEFENSIVE TEAM NO PEACE!!!!!
(05) FAN OF THE MAMBA - RIDING SHOTGUN2 - put me on the Ron Artest bandwagon! DEFENSE Wins Championships BABEEE!!!!
(06) D(EREK) J(ETER) - SECURITY - Ron on the 1st team all D, well, duhhh!
(07) SEELY-IGGY - WARRIOR PRINCESS - Ron Artest is a stud on defense. It's a travesty to not have him on the ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM. The Coffee Crasher rules!!! Count me in.
(08) LAKERTOM - ENFORCER - Please add me to the Ron Artest All-NBA Defensive Team bandwagon. The best hands bar none in the entire NBA. This is an award that only the top scorers in the league should vote for – LeBron, Pierce, Durant, Manu, Kobe. Then Ron would make the team.
(09) LEWSTRS - Please include me on The Ron Ron Bandwagon...I love me some Ron Ron...
(10) 63 Footer - I'm kissin' my bicep for joy in hopin' Ron makes the team. Him AND Kobe... rather have that than All-Stars
(11) SEAN - Ron playing well defensively will have more emphasis on a victory, than what Pau/Kobe are doing offensively, this week. Ron will be completely dialed in this week and let the chips fall where they may.
(12) SOSHIBO - Kiss the Biceps Ron!!! #bicepkiss #winning
(13) LAKERHOLIC - Oh... Ron has to be on the first team defense. I was very dissapointed when he was left off last year. I guess PP didn't get a vote.
(14) JOHNNYV - Concerning Ron Ron, he is a defensive juggernaut the way that PJ is a Championship coach. PJ doesn't run around directing people and exhausting himself during games. No, PJ has a vision for the season and sticks to it. Ron has a tough time making the 1st Defensive Team because he is pacing himself for the playoffs. Think about it. Ron will enter the playoffs without sore feet (last year he was bothered all year by them), he won't be burned out by overextending himself during the long season. He will be ready and will perform like the defensive monster he is.

@yellofever...

You are on the money when you talk about Ron Artest's defense. I saw Manu and Joe Johnson both shy away from RonRon. When Ron was playing defense against them, it was like they were dragging around an anchor. Lots of good stuff from Ron, lately!

I swear I have to get some work done today and quit basking in Laker-shine!

THE HELL YOU SAY!! Bask in that Laker-shine Nuggets!!! It is your God given right as a LakerHolic to bask in Laker-shine as needed!! Now BASK!!!!!!!!!

I stil think they should try the triple towers. Play your five best guys sometimes. Comparing Lamar to Magic may be stupid career and certainly stature wise. It is not stupid skill-set wise. Lamar has the ball handling skills to bring the ball up the floor, make a pass or shoot the three as a guard would. He has obvious talents at forward and played center for the US team. There are not a lot of guys in the history of the league who can play center, handle the ball, go coast-to-coast and slam it in your face, and shoot outside. His career hasn’t been so bad either. In Lamar’s freshman year at Rhode Island, he led them to a conference championship. His three-pointer against Temple at the buzzer gave the Rams their first A-10 title. He was a Captain (and second best player) on the US team that won the gold last year in Turkey. He had 15 points and 11 rebounds in the final game. It was the first gold win for a US team in the World Championships since 1994. He is also a two-time NBA Champion.

Yeah, my brother...nothing I like better in the regular season than a Laker win and a Cryami loss....wait, we can have both rolled into one tomorrow night!!

Oh yello, Yello!! You were doing so well and then...and then *sniff* *sniff* you had to go and ruin it...my eyes are getting a lil misty here!!!

****THE PRINCESS JIMMY SONG***
Princess Jimmy, Princess Jimmy, just one more time let me see you Shimmy
Please tell me is there a chance, In Miami you’ll do the Riverdance
Even in Miami you still lose, Darth Stern don’t care who he screws
One more time throw, smoke in the air, People hate you It’s just not fair
Princess Jimmy, Princess Jimmy, just one more time let me see you Shimmy
You went to Miami to scratch an itch, Now you end up being Dwades Biatch
No matter how many Kobe moves you steal, You have no heart for the Kill
I bought some Milk the other day, Saw your face on the carton said you'd run away
Is that why your profiles so low, Because the Public hates you so?
Princess Jimmy, Princess Jimmy, just one more time let me see you Shimmy
Princess Jimmy, are you Darth Sterns Tool, Or R U just a Freakin Fool
Your Super Team just won’t fly, Watch the Princess start to CRY
Stop crying and act like a man, Throw that tiara in the garbage can
Princess Jimmy you've seen your day, Sad to see your @zz go out this way!
Princess Jimmy, Princess Jimmy, just one more time let me see you Shimmy

Good morning Mamba24! It is nice to bask in the win and Miami’s loss. Oh so nice. But can you feel it in the air? I know it is tomorrow, but the tension is mounting. One of the biggest games so far. San Antonio was great, but it is hard to dislike guys like Parker, Manu, Tim, and Pop. With Miami it is much easier… ;-) It would be great to get the triple-crown – Boston, San Antonio, and Miami on their home court. You know… Give them something to think about… That was quite the slamming we took on Christmas. You know what they say - payback is a BIIAAATCH!!!
