Time for Drew to also finish the game. Hopefully, Phil does not make the same mistake against the Spurs as he did last time, which cost us a 1-point loss when the Spurs got a tip in at the buzzer.

@MAMBA24… Good morning, Larry. What could be better than French toast and bacon, a Coke over ice, a couple of tokes, and Game Day Roll Call for breakfast to start a great Sunday in Lakersville. I’m looking for the Lakers to bring their A-Game today. Here’s my prescription for a sweet victory:
…..
(1) Run the Triangle Offense efficiently to control the pace of the game and minimize turnovers and lapses in transition defense. As Phil has stated, our defense really starts with running our offense. More ball and player movement and lots of assists. Less isolation and jump shots early in the clock.
…..
(2) Play inside-out basketball on offense to take advantage of our superiority and length in the front court. Pound the ball inside to Drew, Pau, Lamar, Ron, and Kobe. Get Duncan and the Spurs bigs in foul trouble and build a big advantage in points in the paint, offensive rebounding, and free throws.
…..
(3) Take care of the ball because turnovers are always the wild card. Not only do they waste an opportunity to score but they give it to the other team. Consider every turnover to be a 4-point play. More quick passing of the ball and cutting by players. Less dribbling, especially through crowds.
…..
(4) Seal the paint and protect the rim on defense to erase mistakes by our perimeter players. This means that Drew has to play defense against the Spurs like he did against the Bobcats, challenging and blocking shots, intimidating and forcing the Spurs to become a jump shooting team.
…..
(5) Stay at home on 3-point shooters. Let Drew, Pau, and Lamar play their men 1-0n-1. Trust Drew and our rotations to protect your back and prevent penetrators from scoring down low. The key with the Spurs is to take away points in the paint and 3-point shots, forcing them to take non-paint 2’s.

Another LeBron clutch shot FAIL. Didn't even hit the rim. At least DWade's shot hit the rim.

Rose was completely willing to take the blame if the Bulls had lost b/c of his airball and TO. Awesome.

And remember the choice between Blake and Miller during the off-season? While Blake hasn't exactly been stellar, Miller cost the Heat the game!

Love the stat about the Heat being the LEAST clutch team in the league!

OK FOLKS I'M CALLING IT...TIME OF SPURS death 12:45!!!!

You've heard the term "statement game"? Well, ladies and gentlemen (and trolls), THIS was a statement game. And Phil obviously wanted to make sure that nobody had any doubts whatsoever about the statement: "We're the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers, and any of you pretenders out there who don't understand what that means, who think that having a season record better than ours means something, better think again. And just to make sure you get it, we're going to come into your house and not just beat you, but beat you down, and not stop beating on you until the whistle blows at the end and the refs have to pry the ball from our hands. Message delivered."

You know them LA LAKERS some BAD MOTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

The game was won in the first quarter, and Drew was beastly in that quarter.

TRU DAT MARK G!!!!!! TRU DAT MY BROTHER!!!
WE GOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not sure if Bynum's rebound and defensive switch was turned on by himself or by coaching staff, but if Bynum keeps concentrating on rebound and defense, no team can beat the Lakers 4 times in playoff series.

PREACH LAKER PEACE, PREACH MY BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:^)

GET DOWN MUD!!! GET DOWN!!!!!

DAMN HAVEN'T FELT THIS GOOD IN MONTHS.....WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I just have one word....

DEFENSE

Wow, Drew is transforming into his natural and true dominant self. That first quarter was sick!

Favorite moment - There was a point in the game when we had hit like eight shots in a row (and had played incredible lock-down defense at the same time) and it was as if the net was as big as the grand canyon. Then, Pau steps up and hits a three to prove it... Priceless...

Favorite Moment #2 – Shannon launching himself into space and slamming it down!

The rest of the league had to hear. The statement has been made. Boston? I don’t think so. Spurs? No! Miami? Stay tuned… But I am thinking… NOT!!!
;-)

I am a Lakerholic

Nice to beat the Spurs, but the big win was finally taking down the Bobcats.

Seriously, Drew was incredible in the first quarter on defense and the boards. Just owned the paint. Artest came to play. Pau and that face up pinch post thing has become automatic. Fish fought through pain and played well at both ends. Kobe was Kobe. It was all over after one Q!!!!!!!!!!!

And now suddenly from nowhere a Lakers party has suddenly broken out from nowhere in the Mamba24 household!!! SWEET JESUS!!!!

The league heard that one loud and clear.
more importantly, SA felt it.
Dallas already knows. It's winnin time.
Here comes April right on schedule.

PJ, Kobe, and the Lakers to the NBA....

"F U. We're the Lakers, who the hell are you?"

Gasol in the corner was just sick

SHO YOU RIGHT MAC MY BROTHER...LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Methinks the entire league just began to freak the frick out.

My only point of concern was the bench. They really let the lead slip.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

If Drew keeps dominating on the defensive end like this, he may very well make all of us thank Mitch for not trading him for Melo.

No need to wait because we can all thank him right now!
________
Bynum has been playing injured since his return has been easing himself back to health while playing NBA minutes. He’s getting healthier and I’m telling you: he's going to be the Lakers’ "not so secret weapon." drew has accepted his role on this team and it's a commitment to the defense. His points will come from offensive rebounds around the rim but his primary job is defense and rebounds. The scoring load is on Pau and Kobe. When the playoffs arrive, I think we'll see a true commitment to the inside-out game and drew's scoring will increase. #17 is ours to lose and I just don't see that happening. We’re going to finish this road trip 4-0 and then take the Orlando game on the 14th. After that, the schedule eases up a bit and then we can work on having a better record than the contenders back east so we can secure HCA in the Finals. Subjective optimistic reality!
"It's very important for us to go out here and do what we need to do on this road trip and win these games. Fortunately, there are not back-to-backs, so we have a day to prepare for each of them. So we really want to win these games, not just for the standings, but to send a message and let everybody know we're here and we're serious." A Bynum 3/4/11 – regarding today’s match-up
Mission accomplished Big Man!

"Everything about the Lakers is geared toward winning playoff games. It's what they do." J.A. Adande

"Even when we didn’t make the playoffs, I thought we'd win the championship." Dr. Buss

"WHEN WILL LEBRON TAKE HIS TALENTS TO THE 4TH QUARTER?" LOSO

(01) JUSTANOTHERMAMBAFAN - OWNER - We Got This & We Want More! Nothing but a (17th) Title will suffice. I am also of the opinion that PJ will be back next year - health providing - to take a shot at the illusive Quat-row. And YES - we're winning the 3-peat this year.

(40) NEWMEXICOLL – WE GOT THIS!!!

Well I said for the Lakers to have a chance of winning they'd have to play lockdown D against the Spurs.

Boy did they ever today. Not surprisingly, looks like Drew's effectiveness will be the key in the playoffs.

Laker Tom,

It look like your boy, Andrew "The Beast" Bynum may be the key to our Championship this year.

And next year.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

Totally Awesome!!! @Laker Tom...They have awakened a Gentle Giant!!!!!!!!!!!!!You are right to all the bragging rights on Bynum!! He is playing defense (17 Rebounds) 2 or 3 blks and not concerned about scoring. Then there's Pau with a 3 in the corner. We are now focused and everybody in the NBA is saying "Oh S**T, They're baaaccck! And we didn't resort to crying in the locker room after losses! Sic..HEATLES!!!
@Mamba24... I really don't have a 2nd team, but I sure do like DRose and the Raging Bulls!

Oh YEAH!!!

Won at Portland- check
Won at Boston-check
Won at San Antonio-check
NEXT...

Drew is what I always hoped he would be, a dominant defensive force in the middle. OOOOHHH WEEEE!

Mamba24 you are the man! We certainly, GOT THIS!

The Heatles crying in the laker room after a four game losing streak-Pathetic!
Lakers beat down of the Spurs in San Antonion-Priceless!!!

Freudian slip, I meant to say the Heatles crying in the locker room

Eeeeewwww weeeee! What a dismantling of "the best team in the League."

Yes, the switch is officially in it's upright position, and will remain there all the way through June.

Pau has removed "Imposter Pau" and is back to his dominating self.

Kobe is unleashing the inner Mamba on all who step up.

Drew is finally accepting his role as the defensive stopper and cleaner that we all knew he could become.

L.O. is continuing his best season to date as a pro.

Fish is still an ironman warrior.

Artest has woken up from his fog.

Barnes is back.

Shannon is playing more like he did in the begining of the season.

Now all we need is the rest of the bench to play a little more consistantly when we have those big leads and all will be perfect in Lakerland.

WE STILL GOT THIS!!!!!!!

Pure, defensive domination. Crisp, decisive ball movement. Excellent transition offense and decent transition defense.

THIS is the Lakers team that the rest of the League fears. And with good reason. When the Lakers play like they played this afternoon, they simply cannot be beaten. Period.

LT: The Beast has awoken, and the rest of the NBA had better take notice.

Go Lake Show!

Laker Tom - with all due respect. Drew turned in a fab game today!!!

I love that he has finally taken ownership of his rebounding game. He follows the bounces and has really focused on his timing.

As I have said previously many times, we don't need Drew's offense, we need his defense. And today, I saw that he has finally put his defensive stamp on this team. I much prefer Drew owning the boards, altering shots and shutting down the lane than getting 20 points. And I hope he does too.

As people were saying today - game ball to Drew (and LakerTom).... well deserved!

Cheers - PLG

Great game!!!!!!

While I was impressed by the Laker offense, their defense was the real show stopper! The Lakers paid attention to detail and did not allow the Bonners to hurt them. They closed out on the Spurs three point shooters and did not allow them any room or good looks until the game had long been decided. Ron took Manu out of the game and Drew and Pau took Duncan out, too!!

Manu resorted to his cheap shots, even running under Kobe as the Mamba made a jumper. Ever notice how Kobe lands on just one foot after his fadeaway? I'm sure he does that to avoid having his front foot land on a defender's foot. Yeah, he's that cerebral and that good! Kobe should have rearranged Manu's septum with a well placed elbow!

Nice job by The Show! But this was only 25% of the roadie. No time for complacency!!

GO LAKERS!!!!

WOW......

I forgot to give major props to the Baby Beast...the man took just two shots and yet he dominated the game! Great interior help defense and great individual defense against Duncan. Timmy got his butt busted today and there wasn't a thing he could do about it!!

Back to back to back.

No, I am not quoting "King's Speech".

GO LAKERS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

@Mamba24

Yaaaaaawn!! I was literally sleeping through the first half of the season. I would go, "oh... the Lakers lost again huh? ." But then, i read Kobe not being too worried, so.... who am i to listen to the trolls???!

Seems like the Lakers just collectively said, "Let's git it on!" after Kobe's MVP play during the All-Star game. They're really playing inspired ball right now. I do hope (crossin' my toes and fingers on this) that they go 4-0 on this road trip, then go smash the Magic when they get back home.

GO LAKERS!

wow...

I'm in shock...

I want to post a comment, but I can't...

Will do later. Bynum is...was...I just can't post....now.....

wow....

"I do hope (crossin' my toes and fingers on this) that they go 4-0 on this road trip, then go smash the Magic when they get back home."

____________

That's what I'm talking about. That's the kind of streak that will put the entire league on notice: They will all have to wait for next season for another chance at a championship and if it's a shortened season due to a lock-out (my fingers are crossed for that to happen), then the Lakers will have a nice rest to heal those old bones and muscles for the 4-peat!

"It's very important for us to go out here and do what we need to do on this road trip and win these games. Fortunately, there are not back-to-backs, so we have a day to prepare for each of them. ALLRIGHT!!!!!

That the Lakers I know complete domination of the boards, defense turned into easy offense. Yes, I agree Bynum is the most valuable player today, he was the behemoth, Kingkong, Godzilla that Spurs could not solved. The Spurs retreated to Alamo and asked for helped from late Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie, well nobody could stop the Lakers today. It got to be purple uniform that gave them that huge boost, not the lazy white used for socializing. I wish every game is like this, a Christmas Day in March. What is the significance of that large margin against the No. 1 team? The seed of DOUBT has been planted to all aspiring contenders. Before talking of big time, seeding, finals, next Champ. everybody please line up and take a bow to the SWITCH..the new lord of NBA. lol! Where's 131, GMoney, Red? Where SonnyB? Ninoy are you happy? You should all post a comment not only in bad times but also in good times.

GREAT SAYINGS:

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars. ~Les Brown

Wherever you go, go with all your heart. ~Confucius

Don't find fault. Find a remedy. ~Henry Ford

Bynum has been in the NBA for 5+ years and he's not a great rebounder. ~hobbitmage

OK, well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Sorry, hobbit, you dug your own hole there, and we don't even have to scour the archives for that baby being it was only last night you said it. Now you can spend the rest of the time you're on this blog trying to justify it - as I'm sure you will...

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

Hi Dan Loumena

i was wondering if you have any news on whether the blazers plan on playing brandon roy on back to back games yet.. since his return he's been held out but there were some talks last week his minutes would be reevaluated and he might start play b2b in their upcoming road trip.

hes on my fantasy team and have no idea what to do with him.

thanks!

The omen is Mark Medina, he just took a vacation and the pressure has been released. We won and nobody was censured or banned. We don't have to read multiple threads, deal with the police and trolls alike, multiple comments from all scribes from Timbuktu. (j/k)Today is all for bloggers who are Laker fans whether lakerholics or fairweather, who cares? Most important news we won big against SA.

Lakers, please tape the switch to ON. Fellow fans, don't praise them too much, it goes to their heads and will sulk into premature celebration. Just win more 3 in a row, with the same intensity as today's game.

Cyber, don't start another train of snippets from Hobbit. Debates are tiresome. Everybody makes a comment and somehow may fall into a trap because nobody here has divine powers of reasoning. Maintain the tranquility like the cliche' says: United We Stand and Divided We Fall. Followed by a religious cliche' Thou shall Love thy neighbor as thyself.

What a day! First the Heat choke again and are crying in the locker room...classic. Then absolute domination by the L's over the Spurs. Message delivered. Here's a question for y'all. If the Heat have the "Big 3" why don't we get credit for the "Big 4"? I mean who would you want if you could chose between Bosh, Lamar, and Bynum? I say Lamar brings more to the table with his "Swiss Army Knife" all-around game than Bosh does and if Bynum continues to rebound and change shots like the last two games, he is one of the most dominant bigs in the association. If Mitch isn't trading Drew for Melo, he damn sure isn't thinking of a swap for Bosh. I have to believe if Drew was on the Raptors and was the featured guy (like Bosh was) he would be a 20/10 all star. So my point is, Kobe+Pau+Drew+Lamar=Big 4. As Tim Duncan says..."game over".

@MARK G… “The game was won in the first quarter, and Drew was beastly in that quarter.”
That was as dominating a defensive performance as I have seen in a long time. Drew not only pulled down 8 boards in the quarter but he blocked layups by both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli and completely intimidated the Spurs from attacking the paint as the Lakers spanked San Antonio to take a 21-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Even though he only scored 4 points, Drew was the unquestioned MVP of this game in my opinion. The Spurs had no answer at all for Andrew Bynum.
………………………
@MAMBA24… “GOD BLESS YOU LAKERTOM FOR KEEPING THE FAITH IN THE BEAST!!!!”
I’ve only been the most vocal of thousands of Bynum fans, Larry. The guy we really need to thank is Jimmy Buss for refusing to trade Drew despite being pilloried by the media and fans. If Drew plays like this, he ain’t going to be going to Orlando either. Like Kobe, he will be a Laker for life.
………………………..
@JON K & PLG… Thanks for the shout it. I have to admit to having an ear-to-ear grin on my face after Drew’s performance today. I wish he play defense like this every game but I know that is not humanly possible. Or is it? LOL. There was a stretch after he blocked both Tony and Manu where the Spurs kept penetrating only to dish out over and over. Total intimidation. No Spur wanted any part of Andrew Bynum in the paint. Drew is looking like a BIGGER, BADDED, BETTER BEAST!

You got it, Edwin. I'm just messin' with hobbit. He pulled out a 6-month old quote of mine a couple days back to try to use against LakerTom, I pulled out a 1-day old quote of his to return the favor. It's all good.

BTW, does anyone have Verizon FIOS? I DVR'd the game today since we were cleaning out part of the back garage, finished watching it a few minutes ago and it was all messed up. Had stupid lines going through it, probably 80% of the game was garbled, the audio was in-and-out the whole freaking time. Did that happen to anyone else? Sucks watching such a good game like that, totally ruined it.

The only thing that was clear was Bynum dominating defensively. OK, ok, I kid - not about Bynum dominating part, well you get it... =P

- - -

LakerTom: Congrats, I predict your faith in Drew will pay off very handsomely for years to come... You're too classy to say 'I told you so' - so I'm saying it for you!

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

I hope somehow the Grizz get matched up with the Mavs in the 1st round. They seem to have the Mavs number for some reason.

Ridiculous shots by Battier and Z Randolph to win the game at the very end.

Scott,

It's not just the Mavs. Grizz have been tough vs. all the top teams in the west.

Dallas 3-1
OKC 2-1
Lakers 2-2
SA 1-2

Oh yeah, that was also a great shot by Dirk to give the Mavs the lead with 3 sec to go.

@yellofever,

Yes, BRoy has been cleared to play back-to-back games. Jason Quick of the Oregonian reported that Friday night or Saturday morning.

Now, will Nate McMillan utilize Roy often on the second night? They are so deep at the 2-3 right now with Matthews, Fernandez, Wallace and Batum that I can't see Roy returning to his high-scoring self.

But, I did catch a game the other night and he played nearly the entire fourth quarter. At one point, they had him running the point, with Andre Miller on the bench, and Fernandez and Matthews were at the 2-3. A very tall, athletic group on the perimeter.

LRob,

I think there is also resurgence from the Suns and Nuggets because of the trade. Since ASG, Suns were 5-1 while Nuggets @ 5-2

@LRob,

I think I've said it before here, the Grizzlies have an excellent starting five (although I'm not a big Mike Conley fan) and some talented bench players. They just lack depth, especially in the frontcourt.

Have I mentioned that I think Dirk Nowitzki should be a leading candidate for MVP? Now, the Mavericks do have depth.

An excellent review of Drew’s performance by Andy Kamenetzky. Here is an excerpt:
……………………………………………………………………
“Andrew Bynum. Friday night against Charlotte, in grabbing 17 boards, blocking five shots, and altering countless more, he showed how capable he is of controlling games even without scoring much. Sunday, Bynum proved the same point to San Antonio. On the afternoon, he scored four points on two shots, and didn't shoot a free throw. Still, Bynum was the team's catalyst early, rising for an offensive rebound off a Derek Fisher miss and throwing it down for L.A.'s first points. On the other end, he blocked Ginobili inside, then quickly earned more offensive boards for Lakers second-chance points.
…..
Over the first 12 minutes, Bynum grabbed eight rebounds (four offensive) and blocked two shots, and was a major reason the Spurs shot only 27.3 percent. He'd finish with 17 rebounds and three blocks. Best of all for Lakers fans, Bynum's mobility around the basket continues to improve, as does his ability to make that "second jump" -- getting back off the floor after an initial contest or attempt at a rebound.
…..
Most encouraging for Lakers fans, Bynum seems to embrace the role he's played so well over the last seven games, trading scoring for presence. "This team is going to win regardless of if I get 15 points or if I get four points. That's the kind of team we are," he said. "But this team won't win if we don't have defensive toughness on the inside. I just think that's the biggest thing I can bring."

Yep... 3 down and 1 to go: a Celtics loss to the Bucks will make it a perfect basketball day for our Lakers! We need the best record going into the finals against the ECC for HCA.

GO LAKERS!!

Dan L,

@ 7-0 Lakers are trending to overtake the Mavs. before April. The difference right now is 1.5, hopefully after Saturday, it will just be 0.5. It would be difficult to beat SA from HCA because they will also keep on winning. Lakers should aim at No. 2 in the West and try to overtake Celtics and Bulls, HCA in the Finals will be a nice, provided they avoid injuries along the way.

Speaking of injuries, Fisher and Barnes fooled everybody, they took a copy of Tony Parker's playbook.

LakerTom

I couldn't agree with you more. You have to give it up to Drew in that game. His performance was pretty much Russellesque. The Spurs wanted no part of the paint after he had blocked a couple of shots in the first quarter. I thought he might have a monster game today after Friday's performance. To me it just looks like he's finally getting his athleticism back.

Oh yeah... Wade made a comment that all is good in the world because the Heat are losing. I for one have nothing against the Heat or Wade. Its LBJ that I have a problem with and it has nothing to do with his "decision." It was that race card that really bummed me out. Hey Princess: maybe it's racism that's making you choke at the end of games. I don't know, just saying, that's all.

@CyberCosmiX....

ESPN usually replays the ABC-TV games on Sunday overnight. Here in NYC, the Lakers are supposed to be replayed at 2:30AM EST. As they say, check your local listings.

Great defensive effort spearheaded by Drew, also very good d by Ron and Kobe. Everyone was solid on defense. Nice adjustment by coaching staff to switch Pick and pop with Bonner so he wouldn’t get any open looks. Also, good to see Kobe attack Manu and GHill (you know Kobe remembers that whole finger pointing incident). Anyway, its just another win in March. I enjoyed it but its still only March.

I have no sympathy for the Heat or DWade. LeBrawn and Chris Botch weren't the only ones preening through all that smoke on stage like they were at an Earth, Wind and Fire concert....Wade was there, too. When they said they were going to win 7 chips, they disrespected the entire process of winning a ring and the League in general.

COOL! I looked earlier at what ESPN would be replaying in the program guide, saw they were replaying the meat/Bulls game and was disappointed. But, after you said this, I scanned all the ESPN channels for later tonight and saw that you're right - it's on ESPN2!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!

THANK YOU BRONX, YOU'RE A LIFESAVER!!!

BTW, I've been taping selected Laker games all the way back to the showtime days, started taping all of them when Shaq/Kobe joined. This was a nice game to get in top quality. Much appreciated =)

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

@fever – my 2 cent is to replace BRoy anyway.

@Jefe – Sade = sweet. Your musical contributions were missed.

@Edwin – good point about Phoenix and Denver. It’ll be interesting to see if they can sustain it.

@Dan – you did mention you like the Grizz starters. And now that they’ve added Battier they’ll have a little more depth when Gay returns. Darrell Arthur has been a pleasant surprise, but they still need another legit big man.

@LT – Drew’s attitude has been as impressive as his performance.

Anyway, its just another win in March. I enjoyed it but its still only March.

So true and with 18 games left, a lot can happen. I was disappointed to see Kobe pick up another tech. There is some dispute whether its officially #13 or #14. One may have been rescinded. At any rate, it's going to be difficult for him to avoid reaching 16 and the one game suspension that goes with it. I can understand the suspensions for technicals accrued for arguing with the officials under the guidelines of "respect the game". However, when players respond to unnecessary contact as in Kobe's case on Sunday, I think a bit more scrutiny is called for. Just one man's opinion.

Cyber...

Glad I could be of help...after I hit POST I realized I didn't specify ESPN2 but I see you did your homework!! Enjoy...that one is a keeper...I'm going to watch my recording of it in a little while!

@LRob, agreed on BRoy and Grizzlies, particularly Arthur AND needing another big.

@Edwin Gueco, I agree. It's a race between Lakers and Mavs for No. 2 in West. I think either can win on Spurs' home court, so HCA isn't so important in the WC Finals. Then again, it's likely to be Thunder-Spurs in second round and OKC could advance to WCF.

@Dan & LRob...

Memphis is looking more and more like the first round matchup from Hades! A very dangerous team!

Is everyone calm now?
Be fair, regular game, right?

But Bynum, ooh Bynum. Oh yeah, Bynum.
What I like most is there's no scowl, No lip action, no smile (on the court), no expression from Bynum. Just another day at work.

Good news about Chris Paul....

http://tinyurl.com/4exkfp6

Although Chris suffered a concussion in an on court collision with Ramon Sessions of the Bobcats, he was able to return to the arena.

All we do is win win win win ....

Thanks
PSP Intern

Oops...Ramon Sessions is on the CAVS, not the Bobcats.

LRob & Dan L,

Correction, I said the difference between Mavs & Lakers was 1.5, actually it is only 1 game cuz' we won and they lost. We're on the attack and they're on the run for cover. I don't think the Thunder will be settling comfortably on the 4th spot, in fact this will be a stiff competition from 4th to 10th. IMO, Jazz and Grizz' will be the dark horses. Look at the line-up and their respective schedules. Because of the Lakers surge in the 2nd half, all coaches will be avoiding the 7th slot which will be a match-up with the Lakers in 1st round.

While in the East, the competition will be 8th spot between Bobcats and Pacers both below .500, the first seven will be exchanging places like the game of musical chairs and remain the same in the end.

See, I just watched the replay of the elbow that Kobe threw at Manu that earned him the technical today and now I'm a little ticked. Kobe merely pushed Ginobli off of him with that elbow. The refs over-reacted to the contact. Manu clearly instigated the whole scene and wound up getting away with it.

This is how the Lakers players and fans feel!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzlpTRNIAvc

I said "The Lakers will be fine...don't get too caught up on the practice season...
I was ridiculed, and ask for stats to justify, and the past seasons was not acceptable reason, so I had to rest on my "FAITH" in this team...

I said "Do not put too much in these so called statement games...They are just like the other 81 games of the season. Same response as above...

I said AB will come back, make an immediate effect on defense and will be a major factor in how far we get into the playoffs. We don't even want to go there, the hate that was spewed on the kid, including for a huge contingent of 'trade for Melo...(great job standing firm on Bynum Laker Tom)

I said "do you think this Laker squad will not make the playoffs..." Well that one is hard to argue against...

So I say now: This team is in an excellent position at this point. We would win the West if the playoffs were to start right now, so HCA in not the main concern. More important to me than the score or win and losses, is if we keep progressing to that level we know we can reach, and to consistently play that way, in sync, in our schemes, playing Laker Ball. Deep in me I know when we play Laker Ball, no team in the Association, can beat us in a 7 game series.

So this is what I'm looking for, and we've made tremendous strides since the ASB. Our defense is the main reason, but there are still more adjustments we could make. Ron Ron is playing his old lock down pestering defense, the rotation is looking more smooth and of course no need to reiterate Bynumite's recent play...

Blake getting his shot and confidence back, Pau getting more tougher, Shannon playing smarter, Lamar playing as consistent, and AB getting some more production on offense. Those are the things I will be paying attention to. But at this point I'm very pleased with team.

Dan,

thanks for the news on roy.. i see hes been a strict minute count.. i saw part of that game when roy played fourth quarter (although it was garbage time) so i'm hopin coach mcmillan is ready to play him w/ starters.. guess hes still a poor fantasy option until then but hopefully coach will start to turn him loose.

A BIGGER, BADDER, AND BETTER BEAST !!!
……………………………………………………………………
“This team is going to win regardless of whether I get 15 points or four points. This team won't win if we don't have defensive toughness inside.” –Andrew Bynum about scoring just 4 points today.
…..
In the six years Andrew Bynum has been on the Lakers we’ve been given many glimpses of greatness. But until now, those glimpses focused on Drew’s great low post footwork and polished offensive game. Since the All-Star break, though, we’ve had a glimpse of greatness from Drew from the defensive side. …..
Ironically, TJ Simers pretty much captured perfectly how Andrew Bynum’s recent play has affected the championship hopes and aspirations off the rest of the NBA in his article: “Lakers’ Andrew Bynum just might make the rest of the NBA quit.” Drew playing like this truly makes the Lakers unbeatable.
…..
What we are seeing at last is a fully healthy and mature Andrew Bynum totally committed to doing whatever the team needs from him in order to win and willing to sacrifice his personal statistics and aspirations for the better of the team. This the other shoe the rest off the NBA has long feared.
…..
The key is for Drew to continue to dominate the boards and the paint the rest of the regular season. If he can do that consistently, the Lakers may finish the season and their run through the playoffs in historic fashion. A healthy, active Andrew Bynum playing like this is a bigger, badder, better beast.

@fever – my 2 cent is to replace BRoy anyway
Posted by: LRob | March 06, 2011 at 08:04 PM

yeah you're probably right.. i'm probably being hardheaded and emotionally attached with him.. i picked him up and held him for 3 entire weeks and now this stupid minute count. now i gots to ride him like zorro! even if hes half the player he was before as a 15-2-2 guy i'll take it.

bronxlakerfan,

do you think kobe and manu will really exchange blows? they were just teammates two weeks ago. I think manu was frustrated that hill could not stop kobe and the task to take him out through technical fouls was given to him.

barnes first game was also decent, the t/o's were reduced cuz' luke was replaced by barnes in the line up. lol!

the weakness of SA is that they have no legitimate Center, only pf's, duncan & mcdyess playing as C's plus a no-name rookie. their game plan as van gundy or mark jackson said, spurs were dependent on 3's, once they start missing it they were sealed by bynum & pau on rebounds. from thereon, it became a mismatch cuz' ginobli/parker could not execute the easy lay up nor duncan apply those pivots. suddenly, it was noticeable of his aging process on this game.

Edwin...

You are right when you say that Manu tried to get Kobe ejected. Manu is a very savvy, shrewd flopper of a ball player who knows how to play the refs. He baited Kobe into throwing that elbow; of that I have no doubt.

You also make a very good point that the Spurs are a jump shooting team. They do move the ball extremely well and their motion offense usually produces really good, open shots. They do have good shooters. They are a very good team. Our Lakers are better than them, however, IMHO.

Laker Tom,

Do you know how much I respect you and your opinion? Probably not, coz I've been very busy and unable to post more often here, but you're very educated and your comments are, most of the time, really in sync with what's going on.

However, I disagree with your opinion about Gasol. It seems to me that you compare Bynum to Gasol more than it deserves. Gasol is a PF, Bynum is a center. And my opinion, and it's just MY opinion, is that they're both part of the Lakers championship run. But if I had to choose between them, I'd pick Gasol. His consistency is remarkable, 7-12 FG today, the guy is always over 50% FG, this is what I call contribution.

You must understand why all those Bynum basher exists. We, fans, kinda like what a player can do regarding points, scoring. Carmelo is so overrated because he can score like a mofo...Durant too. But if you look at the overall game, I'd rather have Bynum in my team than Melo, hands down.

Once that said, I think we found a common ground here. Bynum is not a scorer. His game tonight was AWESOME, and he didn't score that much. 4 points in the entire game does not impress anybody, but 17 boards and 3 blocks helped us a lot. He's a giant, and that's what he suppose to do. He actually contribute to this win a lot. That's how we should look to Bynum, not criticizing him when he miss a shot 1 feet from the basket. That's how he should play. On D. Blocks and rebounds. That should do it.

And please, let Gasol be what he is. Soft? Maybe. Who cares...Did you see that 3-pointer?

I DID!!!

What a great PF we have.

Cheers.
