Phil knows he's got a Ferrari this year. He's just got it purring along. Trying a few things in 2nd & 3rd
gear. Knows he's got several more gears, but sees no need to even try them now. Hasn't even floored
it yet when the NBA cops aren't looking, but knows he can lay a patch of smoke & rubber a block
long if he ever needs it. But yeah, Sonny Belfast, Phil knows (and YOU know) he may not even need
to floor it this year at all. But just for the heck of it, I think he will. @CORNERJ

In my mind's eye, the Lakers and Celtics are rushing towards each other in the fashion that they have
in years past. Matching each other, blow-for-blow, against all-comers until the time to meet arrives.
They are looking squarely in the others direction while they simultaneously brush aside any with the
misguided notion that they are contenders. It is the same as how Bruce Lee will casually vanquish all
OF the Big Boss' henchmen on his way to the real dance. It is about Boston. It has always been about
Boston. Boston is the only franchise that has earned our RESPECT...and our DERISION. @ FEARLESS

HOBBITMAGE:

Excellent read from the last post!!

These are the links hobbitmage posted..............Great Job!!..........This is perhaps the best post of the year..............did I say year? The best post in the history of the blog.............

http://www.littlewhitestatistics.com/?cat=7

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Kobe-Bryant-Winning-still-can-t-win?urn=nba-86015

To sum up what these articles suggest is............you have to actually watch the game to UNDERSTAND "what" happened. You can't get these things from a stat sheet.

Also very important to this equation but what is not analyzed is the effect of coaching, strategy and in-game moves in the competitive games that contributes to Laker losses!!

The fact that this "perception" is out there among all "non-thinking" people obscures further analysis into the "real" factors that contribute to these competitive game failures. The main beneficiary from this flawed thinking is non-other than Phil Jackson....................who in my opinion has carefully crafted this "perception" and is usually the source of the quotes in the media......albeit very subtly.

How does this benefit Phil you say? If you take Kobe's shot attempts out of the equation for these failures........................you will automatically begin looking for other reasons..................Like...............Why does the offense bog down in competitive games particularly down the stretch?

What "really" happened in that 2004 Finals against Detroit...........or the 2008 Finals against Boston?

Why is it necessary for Kobe to go more one on one in competitive games to be more effective?

Phil benefits because he all but disappears and escapes scrutiny during these competitive games....................EVERYTHING...........shifts to Kobe and he becomes a very convenient scapegoat.

Think about it

Good Morning Lakerland! Nice to start the day with not just a win but a trouncing. It was great to see Joe Smith get some run. I thought he played well! I hope he can start to help us by providing some minutes so our Bigs can pace themselves better.

WOW! DWill to the Nets. Maybe that's why we were hearing about Farmar being available?

@boynamedsue – interesting theory!

@Cyber – Yesterday is water under the bridge…see the sage advice Art offered at 7:57am. What were your thoughts on the game?

@Rocky – Amare, Boozer, Melo…now DWill? Out it’s a mad exodus of all-stars to the east!

@Mamba – Good point on the Sloan/DWill situation

@hobbit – what does it say about Favors that NJ is giving up on him so soon?

PRACTICE SEASON PART 2 BEGINS !!!
..................................................................
While we all wait with bated breath to see how the Lakers play tonight, it was a pleasure seeing the team come out for the first game after the All-Star break with great energy and focus. It was also good to see Fish and Artest have good games so that we were not forced to play 3 or 4 against 5.
...
It was a victory with contributions literally from everybody on the roster who played and scored. Kobe continued to look in top game form. Although he only had 3 shot attempts and scored 5 points, Drew dominated the boards with 15 rebounds and anchored a great Lakers defensive effort by blocking 3 shots and challenging every shot attempt in the paint by an intimidated Hawks team.
...
It was also great to see solid contributions from the bench early in the game and in the fourth quarter with literally every single Laker on the active roster not only playing but also scoring. Pau played aggressively, Shannon was a real spark plug, and Blake was especially active. All in all, a great way to start out the second half of the season. 40 more wins will lead to a Lakers three-peat.
...
I would like to chime in on the issue of bloggers being banned or leaving the blog after being attacked. First of all, I do hope that everybody will pull together and support keeping 888 on the blog. Frankly, I have never liked seeing fellow bloggers banned or chased away. I would rather see the participants in disputes agree to disagree and move on. Even during my most heated battles with antagonists, I never wanted to see any blogger banned or leave the blog upset. I think it’s a shame when we let our emotions overrule our humanity and civility. Let’s just try to get along.

NBA4ever,

I know Dwill wasn’t happy with some of the transactions made by FO…i.e letting Boozer walk, trading Brewer, losing Korver, etc. It looks like Utah felt he was going to leave…so maybe they traded him before it turned into a Melo situation being talked about every day next season. (Maybe it’s like Mamba said…Sloan saw the handwriting on the wall and didn’t want to stick around for the “rebuilding” project.)

I know one thing. Avery’s probably grinning from ear to ear right about now!

Hello

Police here; Dwill is a player the PSP like and have long coveted for the Lake Show. Does anyone think he will ditch the Nets after next season? He sure would look good in P&G!

Thanks
PSP Intern

Oh Lord, moderation again? As far as the PSP recall, the guys that were bickering last night didn't really say a lot of horrible things. I mean, what's the point of moderation if you are still going to approve those same comments? Come on MM!

Thanks
PSP Officer

@LROB... Excellent comments regarding Drew. I would have liked to see the Lakers give him more shot attempts but it was good to see a little more bounce in his step. The real test for the Lakers will be tonight at the Rose Garden. A big win tonight would be a real positive sign.
...
I’ve never hated the police but have found in my life that too many cops around usually resulted in a lot less fun. Now we even have cops handing out tickets before events happen, sort of like in the movie Minority Report. How about a few less cops and tickets and a little more basketball? Of course, there are real cops (in this case, MM) and then the guys who are really more like security guards, who thankfully are not usually given real guns out of fear they’d shoot themselves.

TOM

When D-Will was interviewed the day after the whole Sloan thing went down, he was practically giddy at times during it. You could just read his body language and see that he was one happy player.

This was coming. I just wish the Lakers had the pieces to put together a trade for him. He sure would have looked nice in our starting lineup.

- - -

Art: When people are repeatedly called out, like Lew was, or G. Money repeatedly calling out mamba - we don't need it. It's not about being liked or disliked.

Bottom line is Larry & Lew are both good people and worthy of speaking up for.

I don't want this to be Beirut or 'Nam or something. On some days this place more resembles a battleground than a blog with some people going about their business while the bullets fly around, stepping around the bodies.

Sucks to think that most want a blog where we have to scroll by 3 pot-shot posts for every decent one. That might be fine for everyone, not for me.

AS ALWAYS - AND FOREVER - GO LAKERS!!!!!!

justa checking in for ROLL CALL!

It's GAME DAY BABY!!
(Those 3 little words I do so love to hear).

GREAT win last night. Not our "neatest" of games but I'll take the W!
So tell me - is Pau the answer to our PG problems? HAHA!!
Nothing like watching Big Bird on the break. I love that guy!

Cry me a river East Coast fans. Everyone's bailing to your side of the divide cuz they know they'll have a better shot at reaching the Finals there, than if they have to face Kobe in the West in a conference match. So whatever - SuperFriends Unite! Bwahahahahah !! The Lakers will still be waiting for you. You don't stand a chance.

GO LAKERS!!
Let the hunt for 6 begin - DFish
Nothing but another title will suffice - KBryant
Nobody destroys Ron Artest - RArtest
Are you serious - ABynum
WE GOT THIS - justa

Whoops, wrong thread, sorry-

Art- How can we have a 'Libya type situation' here on the blog? Does the Times have bombers? Man, no wonder they went bankrupt.

To clarify, my request for a sign in requirement would be in order to avoid comment moderation delays, ie if there is some way for comments from users that are already registered to be cleared automatically but for comments by new or unsigned in users to be held for moderation. I don't know how many problems it would solve if people really wanted to fight, but it would have to cut down on the ad hominem personal attacks and bad language.

Also it would be nice if people who were banned could stay banned and not just change their name and come back and attack people again.

LRob:
I agree with you as far as trading him now because he wasn't staying around that is for sure.

Avery can't believe it. What a great pick-up for Jersey after failing to land a "superstar" I believe they got one at the most important position in this new NBA. As far as Utah it depends on how Favors turns out, I feel bad for that franchise. I like to see the small markets succeed as long as they have the fan support, and that Utah has always had. Without Sloan and now Williams I think they will be irrelevant in the years to come.

@MM... I have to agree with PSP on the moderation issue. I did not see any reason for turning off instant posting unless you are trying to make everybody wake up and be nicer. We get it so how about turning instant posting back on and we will promise to be good bloggers. Too many cops.

Lakers took a step in the right direction, tonight their journey continues in Portland. What's good is that they can see the hill top from where they are. The rest of the road does not get easier, but their approach to it will make the difference on how they finish. If last night was any indication on how they'll complete this difficult task called the threepeat, they should be just fine.

pfunk,

>>>To sum up what these articles suggest is............you have to actually watch
>>>the game to UNDERSTAND "what" happened. You can't get these things
>>>from a stat sheet.

I'm totally down with you on this one.

Last night was the perfect example of Kobe taking very few shots.

If the Lakers get a lead (especially a big lead) and the bench is able to hold off any major runs by the opponent, then Kobe plays fewer minutes and takes fewer shots.

Or if Kobe is passing a lot in the first quarter and Bynum and Gasol are slicing and dicing the other team and the Lakers are leading, then Kobe will continue to pass more and shoot less.

But if Gasol goes 0-for-6 in the first quarter or Bynum goes 1-for-5, and the Lakers fall behind, then you can bet that Kobe is going to shoot more and pass less.

And if the Lakers are trailing by 20 to start the 4th, then usually Kobe's shooting more aggressively in the fourth so the shot count goes up (and a lot of the time the shooting percentage goes down - especially if he's jacking quick 3's).

How many games has Kobe shot more than 20 times this season? hmmmm. Maybe I'll go review the game logs over at ESPN to try to support that theory.

If you are Deron Williams you have all the right to be frustrated with the Jazz after letting go Carlos Boozer, Wes Mathews, Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver.

Nets vs Knicks, Knicks vs Bulls, Bulls vs Miami, Miami vs Celtics, Celtics vs Lakers.

All the young Superstars not named Kevin Durant have moved to the EASTERN Conference. Durant will rule the WEST for a long long time after Duncan and Kobe faze into sunset.

Chris Paul should stay is NO and build a contending team. The West is getting much easier to get into the Finals than the East in a couple of years.

>>>What "really" happened in that 2004 Finals against Detroit.

One of my observations there: Detroit sagged off of the Lakers to double and sometimes triple team Shaq. They were basically daring the other Lakers to beat them. This caused some turnovers, some indecision by the other Lakers, and often ended up with them throwing it to Kobe late in the shot clock to jack up a guarded outside shot.

There was also the fact that Karl Malone was injured, barely played, and played poorly when he DID play.

I haven't re-watched any of the games since then, but that was my impression at the time.

Dear abby,

A win is a win and they needed it but that was the closest thing they'll ever get to a cakewalk.. The hawks had no fight in them and evidently were still in allstar weekend mode.. What do u expect from a team led by (120MIL max contract R u serious? )mr nice guy joe johnson.. U punch them in the mouth once and they fold up like a camping chair.

On the bright side, ron artest did make his presence felt defensively and luke walton the king of garbaj time was again in his element throwing crisp bullet passes.. Good win but do you think we can see this type of effort for the next 24 games now?

Sincerely,
Still not too impressed in los angeles

Deron Williams, Sasha Vujacic, Brook Lopez is Avery Johnson's New Jersey Nets BIG THREE, a deadly combination.

Utah just made it easier for Dallas to pick up Harris.

It's obvious Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson have a plan in place to beat us.
Going after Harris make's it abundantly clear, that Dallas wants to match our size in the paint and wants to run us out of the gym in transition.

Lakers missed out on Utah's Williams and Net's Harris. We are now left with Fisher. Wow, what is going on with Lakers management ?? Fisher is not the future and he is not the NOW either.

>>>2008 Finals against Boston?

That was pretty clear. Every other Laker except Kobe, Fish (and occasionally Sasha and Farmar) looked like deer in headlights.

Perkins and Garnett (and even PJ Brown) repeatedly pushed Pau and Lamar out of the way to get rebounds or get position in the lane. And Pau and Lamar didn't push back. Even if the Lakers had had Bynum, it may not have made a difference. He may just have been one more Laker big that the Celtics would play smash-mouth basketball against.

The C's got a hot game here out of Leon Powe and a hot game there out of Eddie House, and stellar D out of Posey and Brown and the Lakers hadn't figured out to sag off of Rondo and force him to shoot, as they did in the 2010 finals.

And give credit where credit is due. The big three in 2008 were MUCH better than the big three were in 2010. KG was pre-surgery and more explosive. Pierce and Allen were more efficient shooters. Perkins did contribute. And their defense that whole season was spectacular.

Kobe's volume shooting was to compensate for the fact that much of the time his teammates were playing like boys in a men's tournament.

Parenthetical note...which should concern all NBA fans.
Remember the Rams?
It could happen to you...and it just ain't right.

LRob: As for Art's comments at 7:57, I would more like to defer to LakerTom who I think nails it:

"I would like to chime in on the issue of bloggers being banned or leaving the blog after being attacked. Let’s just try to get along."

As for the game, well our bigs really got after it on the defensive end. Beauty of a game for them.

I loved how Ron Ron hit the post some, got his game going that way. He missed a couple shots early, and instead of remaining on the perimeter he tried mixing it up underneath and got going that way. THAT is the way Ron Ron should play.

- - -

We may never find out, but I would love to know if Mitch even made a call about D-Will, or if the Jazz informed teams he was available (as I would imagine it would be in the best interest of GM's to let everyone know, so that they'd get the maximum amount they could get for their guy.)

Frankly, Harris is pretty nice, never the player he looked like he'd become in Dallas. Derrick Favors may turn out alright too. But they didn't get nearly enough for a PG the quality of D-Will.

The leastern conference is becoming the new West...

A little advice to everyone, … if you all would speak up then the instigators would not be welcome. When we see someone like G.Money trying to start something, trolls calling out Lew, etc... and do nothing about it - what kind of society would it be if we saw old ladies getting mugged, cars jacked, banks robbed and did nothing? That's what goes on around here...

Posted by: sean | February 23, 2011 at 09:45 AM

Lakers missed out on Utah's Williams and Net's Harris. We are now left with Fisher. Wow, what is going on with Lakers management ?? Fisher is not the future and he is not the NOW either.

Posted by: BEDO | February 23, 2011 at 09:46 AM

@Sean
That doesn't make sense.

@BEDO
What are you talking about? Why don't we trade for Chris Paul for Fisher? Or D Howard for Luke?

Wow, who woulda thunk D-Will would be traded to NJ of all places? Totally blown away by the trade. Talk about a mass exodus of stars to the East. Now if only Dirk and Duncan would be sent East too...

With CP3 likely headed to NY in the near future, it looks like Westbrook will be the top dog among point guards in the West. The future looks brighter for OKC everyday.

We may never find out, but I would love to know if Mitch even made a call about D-Will, or if the Jazz informed teams he was available (as I would imagine it would be in the best interest of GM's to let everyone know, so that they'd get the maximum amount they could get for their guy.)

You suprised me that you too would even make such a post. Why do people even think of these impossible senerios? What do we have that Utah would want?

I don't want this to be Beirut or 'Nam or something. On some days this place more resembles a battleground than a blog with some people going about their business while the bullets fly around, stepping around the bodies.

Sucks to think that most want a blog where we have to scroll by 3 pot-shot posts for every decent one. That might be fine for everyone, not for me.

This isn't the first time you've referenced 'Nam'...and today,
you threw in Beirut, for good measure I suppose.

I've been to both when the bullets were flying, and frankly,
I find it hard to relate any of what goes on here;
a totally anonymous internet sports blog,
even in a metaphorical sense,
to terrible things which did (and still do) happen at those places....
catch my drift?

So I thinking, brother, to use another metaphor,
if it's too hot for you in the kitchen...
well...
you know.

Is this post 'decent' enough for you?

@Sonny- sorry to burst your bubble Sonny, Sacramento is leaving. Las Vegas is going under, and the Maloofs are one of their biggest tenets. They own a production company that makes cheap, recyclable programming. Their music companies biggest artist is Ali Lohan.

The new stadium is called the Power Balance Pavillion. Joke. Name it something that's ridiculous for ridiculous. Like how about, 'The Arco Arena Quick Energy Choco-Bot Pavillion". Still has that air of stupidity, without the corporate greed.

Joe and Gavin Maloof, along with the other family members, have made really poor, business decisions. They want to re-structure debt in this economic climate? Are you nuts? They're in more trouble than what's been speculated, if they want to do that.

How are these trades going to effect the playoff seedings?
Utah and Denver will certainly take a nose dive, right?
What about Portland, NOLA and Memphis?
I also heard nothing about Phoenix trying to improve (maybe Gortat and VCarter and Pietrus is all the changes they want for one season).
Hopefully Dallas doesn't improve (TMurphy?)

Shocked to see D-Will going to the Nets. Kudos to NJ for being persistent in landing a superstar and becoming relevant again in the NBA. (Maybe next year) Hope they can keep him.Well, it's time for some East players to jump ship to the West. D12 I'm talking to you.

Good win by the Lake show. Life is beautiful when they play like this. Keep it up tonight in Portland

@NBA4ever- Dude, it makes perfect sense. Utah really has no intention of keeping Harris. They've got draft picks, Harris will not do them any good in the short or long-term.

Mark Cuban loves Harris, wants him back, and I guarantee you, he or Donnie Nelson is on the phone looking to pick up Harris.

Doesn't make sense? Hmmm.

Dude...our biggest weakness is perimeter shooting and transition D when shots aren't falling, and in the playoffs that's a premium.

Dallas has Roddy Beaubois, and if they added Harris, it would be a devastating combo in transition.

New Jersey wanted Caron Butler, that's why, Cuban pulled out of the deal for that reason. Hence, New Jersey made a Coup with Williams.

See the forest for the trees, man, Cuban wants to run us out of the gym. He might not get Harris, but, you can tell where his minds at. He wants a fast point guard, combined with Kidd, Terry, Barea and Beaubois, that makes a formidable and versatile back-court.

It makes perfect sense for Mark Cuban.

@Cyber - I agree LT's comments were on point!

@NBA4ever - I hope Favors does develop into a player because I also would like for Utah to remain relevant. It's a good NBA market with a very rabid fan base.

>>>Deron Williams, Sasha Vujacic, Brook Lopez is Avery Johnson's New Jersey
>>>Nets BIG THREE, a deadly combination.

LOL

@Sean

Why would Utah trade Harris? He is a solid proven point, because they have picks? I can gaurentee that they don't trade him, are you confussing Utah with Denver?

>>>What do we have that Utah would want?

Bynum.

Bynum for Carmelo would be kinda dicey.

Bynum for Williams (one of the top 3 or 4 point guards in the LEAGUE) would be golden.

But Bynum might not have been enough to convince Utah to trade Williams in conference.

Sonny, I never brought up 'Nam before.

BTW for what it's worth I have no problem with anyone. Not with you, not with anyone. Bottom line is you're a human being as I am. I'm no better than anyone here, just feel compelled speak out sometimes when others don't.

This is just a blog, but seems like a lot of days it's more about people taking shots at each other, calling others out and of course the bitter discourses (of which I won't name who has that mastered). Hey, to each their own, but more people come here to dump their sludge than ever before.

I happen to despise being policed to the core.

Anyways, a lot of people want me to shut up, so I'm going to do just that.

BTW Sonny, nice Kings game last night...

LEWSTRS checking in for Roll Call...Thanks Mamba24 for you efforts again...

The Nets hit a homerun right there. Carmelo who? I wonder where Troy Murphy will go after his buyout....

@LEWSTRS, Thank you for checking in my brother! Just trying to follow in the footsteps of The Master!! Carry On Sir!

This time next year if Dwight wants to come here and we fall short (shudder) of the title, it'll be Dwight for Drew.

@NBA4ever- Did you read my response post? I said, they might not get Harris, still you can tell what Cuban and Nelson are going after.

Money talks and BS walks, brother.

If you offered Dom Jones, a 1st round pick and cash, Harris would be on the red eye to Dallas, Tx.

I was making a point about Utah. It's obvious, Devin Harris, isn't in the long-term plans or their would have been more parts coming to Utah. That's not a good deal from a personnel perspective, Harris is making 17.8 million over the next two years, Williams was making 12 million. That was a really poor, lateral move, by Kevin O'Connor, I'm surprised. They must have been, scared that Williams would jet after next year.

Harris is a formidable PG, he's not in Deron Williams universe, not even his rearview mirror actually.

You're right that Harris is a good player, and Utah probably does need his talents for the next two years.

My point was about Dallas being proactive, looking for a speedier PG, that can
cause the Lakers problems. I was just using Harris as an example, since his name has been in rumors with Dallas the last few days.

@NBA4ever- you're prob right that Utah won't trade him. With all due respect, though, no one thought Caron Butler was going to be traded from Washington and Mark Cuban swooped in to get him.

Never underestimate the power of Mark Cuban, money means the same thing to him as it does to Dr.Buss, it's no obstacle in big picture of winning.

Just read a rumor that BOS and GS are working on a deal involving Nate Robinson, the other pieces are not known.

The Kings are on the verge of relocation? I think contraction would be the merciful solution here. They've been irrelevant for most of their existence, and will continue to be irrelevant for the foreseeable future.

And a lot of people want you to go on doing what you do best...Being CyberCosmiX!!! Preach on my brother, Preach On!!

Good win last night.

My only gripe: Phil just doesn't get it. The team is up by 27 points and he still refused to put either Caracter or Ebanks in- not for another five minutes. Pau should not have played more than five minutes in the second half. I know Phil is set in his rotations, but this is getting ridiculous!

I wish Phil would have given the rooks some more tick this season. He just doesn't understand grooming young players. Look at whay Pop has done in San Antonio. He gave Blair, Neal and George Hill minutes which allowed them to blossom into dependable players for the Spurs. Since then, the Spurs have put together one of the best regular seasons in decades.

As for tonight, we need a win in Rip City!

@LRob
nice selection- who knew that Nikki Six could write a good song on his own.

"Portland Oregon:"

This year, the Lakers record when they play on Sunday is 6-6.

Thus Sunday must cause the Lakers to lose.

(part one of my "correlation does not imply cause and effect" series)

This year, the Lakers record in the last 1/3 of the month (21-31 of any month) is only 10-8. Thus the last 1/3 of months must cause the Lakers to lose more often.

(part two of my "correlation does not imply cause and effect" series)

When the Lakers play teams who's city name starts with an "M", they are 4-4.

Thus, the letter "M" causes the Lakers to lose.

(part three of my "correlation does not imply cause and effect" series)

When Kobe shoots more than 12 free throws, the Lakers are 1-3.

Thus fouling Kobe a lot causes the Lakers to lose.

Teams should definintely foul Kobe a lot if they want to improve their chances of winning.

(part four of my "correlation does not imply cause and effect" series)

Well, Shawn, if you put it that way...

I hate to burst YOUR bubble, but I never lived in or near Sacramento,
nor do I intend to. Sacramento has a long way to get there,
but I'm sure that one day it will be as big a dung-beetle resort
as that place the Lakers call home...
but, I am, and will continue to be a King's fan wherever they move,
if they move...
but by no means is any move a fait accompli...not yet.

Oh, and please spare me the details on the Maloofs...
I probably know more about the complete situ than you do my friend,
insomuch as I've been an avid Kings fan and minutiae follower
for a couple of decades now.

But I am rather surprised, and more than a little disappointed with you...
being a rather thoughtful and informed Laker fan (a rarity),
that, I assume, you would endorse such a move.

There is a solid group of fans up there in Sacto country.
They set records selling the joint out even when the team was lousy.
Hard times have befallen them, moreso than other parts of the state.
What was unthinkable, the Kings not being in Sacramento after 25-years,
is now on the brink. Crappola happens, and it could happen to you.

I remember the Rams, who were long thought to be an immovable object before they up and left forever...

Just my opinion...but I don't think it's right...

I am reading comments on the various sites which have been set up to save the Kings...comments in strong support of the Kings remaining in Sacto...
coming from all over the world...possibly to no avail.

Not surprisingly...very few of these comments seem to originate in
La La Land...too wrapped up in themselves down there.

Support your fellow NBA fans up north!

Go Kings!

No one saw it coming? Everyone saw it coming, he was on the trade block when they knew they had to rebuild. He was the first to go so I don't know what your talking about there brother.

@NBA4ever- When he was there, no one saw Mark Cuban swooping in to get him. He wasn't even on the radar. He has a penchant for being a Hawk in trade scenarios.

>>>Deron Williams, Sasha Vujacic, Brook Lopez is Avery Johnson's New Jersey
>>>Nets BIG THREE, a deadly combination.

and

D Will, Sasha and Farmar are the Nyets "little THREE". A versatile combination.

In games where Kobe has gotten 7 or more assists this season, the Lakers are a mere 7-6.

So Kobe getting assists causes the Lakers to lose more often.

I for one am supporting the Kings stay in Sacramento.
I can't make it to the Clippers game or I would.
The city needs to make something happen or it will be a shame to lose them.
If they have to absolutly move then I would prefer them move to San Jose rather then the OC.

@Sonny- I don't have a sarcasm detector, sorry for being so serious, Sonny. It's cool.

For the record, I do hope the Kings stay in Sacramento, I just wish Vegas wasn't the rock that these billionares break themselves against. It's a slippery slope for Bankruptcy.

Outstanding! I threatened to do this a few times in the past years on this blog, but never had the energy to fixate on it. I love it! Keep 'em comin'. My other take was to attack stats related to other players on the team & make absurd cases for those also..........like when Pau has less than ?? assists, then........ Or Luke plays more than XX minutes, then the Lakers win or lose or whatever.. Nonsense like that, unrelated to Kobe. Or games on odd numbered dates on Tuesday..........
You see what I mean.

>>>Or Luke plays more than XX minutes

Well, since you mentioned it...

WHEN LUKE WALTON PLAYS MORE THAN TEN MINUTES...

The Lakers are 11-3.

So now, all you people that say Kobe should shoot less - would you also argue that Luke should play >10 minutes in every game?

exactly.

I think I've done enough to make my point. I'm now trying to find real causes (statistical or otherwise) for the losses where Kobe shoots more, and also trying to find statistical evidence that the fact that they're losing the game CAUSES Kobe to shoot more (e.g. something like: If the Lakers are trailing at a quarter break, then Kobe takes 1.7 more shots in the next quarter than if the Lakers were leading) - in other words, I think there is a cause and effect relationship between Kobe volume shooting and losing, but it's the opposite direction.

I hope that giant wuss-bag Raja Bell is happy with his choice of teams.

NNYEAH NYEAH!!!!
