While it's interesting to debate is Pau 'too nice', it's a question of wills. Orlando broke Pau's will. Than he came back and had few touches against Charlotte. Than he put up 30/20 against Cleveland, and Cleveland took it back at him.

I hate to use the word 'piggy-back' to describe Pau's performance in game 7. He was following Ron Artest's lead. Ron was the MVP of game 7, he was aggressive, instinctual, a monster. Pau followed his lead, and I'm not quite sure why the media made it out like Pau was the one who enforced his will.
Yeah, he did, only after Artest had long asserted his will on the game. Pau was aggressive and played admiraby. However, if Kobe struggles again, I can't bank on Pau having a similar performance in a big game. He struggled from the field, against a slightly pudgy, not as good a defender as he was, Rasheed Wallace.

Pau's defense needs to be better. I don't care about footspeed, it is what it is. Bird had terrible footspeed and still managed to be an admirable defender.
(For the record, Bird perfected the weakside block technique, not Lebron.) He needs to use his intelligence to make up for his footspeed. If his man backs him down, he has a myriad of options. Take the hard foul, get your body set for the charge on the turnaround. Plus, you've got a bulldog at your disposal, who's willing to do the things you won't or can't for the best outcome of the team.

Oh by the way, Ron Artest is one of the best passing SF's from the block, though, you wouldn't know it because no one let's him go to work down there.

The J.A. Andande article was very informative.

I love how Kobe is gunning for Bill Russell even though he knows he won't
catch him.

Hi Mike-
With due respect to you and all the nervous fans out there that participated in your live chat session Friday, I don't think anyone has really nailed what is really wrong with this team. In the most troubling games they have lost, they have struggled to break 90 and sometimes even 80(!) points. The SC crowd blames lack of defensive intensity for their woes, and surely that's true and means fewer easy baskets, but there is something more fundamentally wrong with their offense. Look at this compilation of plays from last year's finals: These aren't cherry-picked highlights. These are just run-of-the-mill possessions. The fluidity and ease with which the 2009-10 Lakers ran the Triangle -- always one read and one pass ahead -- is missing this year. I don't know why and I don't know how they get it back, but they needed this level of offensive efficiency just to push Boston to a Game 7. Have opponents figured out how to defend it better? Sure. But a well-run Triangle offense takes what the defense gives it. The Lakers' individual offensive stats are down, but I think it has more to do with the overall team O than individual down years. Maybe this is a symptom of Kobe not being able to practice every play with the team. Maybe it is a lack of focus. But, this has to get fixed, and quickly, for these guys to compete much less three-peat.

The NBA is fixed.

The Lakers know this so whats the point of playing hard?

Its what David Stern has planned for the playoffs that matters\.

The Lakers have always won with favorable/non calls from the refs.
Lakers shoot up it, miss, whistle! Free throws!

Then on defense, the refs dont call fouls on the Lakers and they win!

Its the same recipe!

The triangle is a horse shit marketing term. Fans are so dumb

Watched the first 2 minutes of the video.

Every shot attempt shown was perimeter except one. The single lay-up was Farmar off a high screen - and he's been traded away and replaced by someone that can't perform that feat.

On one level, the object of the game is to get easier shots than the other team (which usually leads to MORE made shots and hence more points). If this was the best the Lakers could do, I'd be a bit worried

Mornin' crue.

Mamba24 - what are you talking about that I waited until you stopped blogging for the day before I posted a comment in support of Laker Tom? My blogging doesn't revolve around whether you're here or not. LOL! I saw your bandwagon and I saw his response to it. I agree with Tom. I'm not a fan of trolls on here in the first place, even if (like some say) they serve a useful purpose. Sonny is not vitriolic like most of them, and so I can tolerate him but I'm not jumping on a bandwagon. I didn't agree with Tom calling them the 'family dog" but I did agree with his main point. They are NOT my family - like you are. Then when you call them 'brother' - well let's just say I'm not amused. Still - it's your thing and I understand where you're coming from. I can accept you doing your thing, as long as you can accept me not being happy about it. Everyone's got their voice on here, right?

What the hell is Magic Johnson talking about?? Griffen brought the slam dunk contest back?? Did we see the same thing??

I'm sorely disappointed about last night's dunk "contest". Seemed the fix was in from the git go, and Ibaka was robbed. What did Griffen do that was so spectacular? A 360? Seen it. Jumping over the hood of a car? Might as well have been chairs. Locking his arm in the hoop? Yeah. Seen that too.

Oh well - maybe the home town cooking will be in full force tonight and the Bean will have another ASG MVP trophy to add to his collection. Or not. Whatever. As long as he's Finals MVP I'm cool.

Defeating the Cavs > winning ASG MVP

I guess, however, that one can go on a resume while the other only puts the team in a better position to have any sort of HCA in the playoffs.

@justanothermambafan- Yeah, well, Kenny Smith, pure ham, what can you say.

I did like Serge Ibaka and Demar Derozan, they had some fine dunks. What the hell was dark chocolate wearing? OMG, did you see that? LOL.

At least Javale McGee didn't wait for the theatrics. I was really disappointed with Shannon's effort last year. If he had DJ and Kobe there, why wait, just do like McGee and give the people what they want.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! Shots on the one side from his idol, Shots on the other from the one person he trusts with his life…DOWN GOES MAMBA24!!, DOWN GOES MAMBA24!!! Get up Mamba24, Get up Mamba24!! Ding Ding Ding!!
Mamba24 could you give us a few words. “AINT GONNA BE NO REMATCH”

Get up, Mamba24, Get up ya bum!!!! LOL

Well the one reason I still post here is getting chased away...If you notice I have not posted except to check in for Mamba's Roll Call...Larry will always have my support, and being the one in charge of Roll Call on another blog, I know the dedication and work it takes to keep one going...

LAT Blog do not take for granted what you got...The energy and passion on any blogs are due to people like Mamba24...

If Mamba does decide to take another hiatus...I will not be posting Roll Call if Larrry doesn't do it....I have been very disappointed with the blog lately...disappointed on the overall flavor...the negative members...the chasing out of good people...the fickle...the hateful...and the collusion...And I'm not even talking about trolls....these are supposedly Laker

So my point is whatever your standards are set here by the senior members...please do not neglect and take for granted...the one member who takes the extra measure to make this an enjoyable blog and resemble some sort of a harmonious family.

That is all I have to say about Vietnam....

Larry - It's your Roll Call...if they don't like what you post...Then they can post a Roll Call of their own...

Mamba24 - to echo sean - get up ya bum! We don't have to agree on everything, do we? I respect your contributions to the blog even if I don't like the troll welcoming. We're cool - as usual. Besides - jv is right too - we bring out the best in others if we ourselves put our best forward. It's all for blog harmony. It's all about the love.

lew - who takes issue with Mamba24's roll call? It was a bandwagon that some of us didn't like, but hey - I know what a scroll wheel is for LOL!

@Lewstrs, thank you my brother! You've always had my back even when I didn't deserve it. But it really aint that serious. I'm just trying to put a little humor out there to laugh to keep from crying! LOL! As far the Roll Call it belongs to the Blog, not Larry or any individual. Anybody who'd like to take it over all you got to do is say so. Roll Calls don't define me, Popularity don't define me. The respect of my friends do. And when two of my closest Blog friends lose respect for me then yeah, it kinda hurts i aint gonna B.S. about it.
Anyway thanks again! I got to go Look at The Mirror some More!!!! Thanks again my brother for the support and all you do for Lakers Nation…Carry On!

Larry - I did NOT lose respect for you. At all. Real talk.

Let me make myself clear...The issue with me is not if Sonny deserves to be on the Roll Call or not...

The issue is Mamba24 was contemplating a move to show how unbiased and true this blog is...How many times have I heard: This is an open forum, everyone is entitled to their opinions...Freedom of speech...etc, etc...

So when Mamba comes up with an idea, to show a blogger who roots for another team belongs...All hell breaks loose...he posted a bandwagon to gauge if his idea will be accepted by the membership, and he get's a scolding instead...

Let's not have 2 standards...So called Laker fans are allowed to totally insult, berate, and say vicious remarks...but since they have been labeled "Laker Fans" it is normal behaviour...but when an opponents fan comes in to berate...he is not worthy...he is a troll...he is garbage...

Well I'm confused...MVP888 get's more grief and attacks on this thread, more than some of the so called trolls...Meanwhile you all condone, Fish sucks, Luke sucks, PJ sucks, the Lakers suck and Mitch sucks...etc...etc...(and I put it nicely...the posts are more vicious and personal)...

Maybe this whole blog needs to look in the mirror....

@Justanothermambafan, Thank you I needed that...Truly!!!! Carry on!

Maybe this whole blog needs to look in the mirror....Posted by: LEWSTRS | February 20, 2011 at 12:54 PM
I know I am!!! WOW!! THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL MY BROTHER!!! You got a gift for writting there!!!

Ummm, maybe lighten up a bit.
Mamba wants a roll call for Sonny, a few people complain about it.
Out of the hundreds who post here and the thousands who read, isn't this much ado about nothing.
A few people complaining about something is hardly very representative.

Mamba, you got hit by a change up, not a fast ball, walk it off. A few people complaining, not a big deal.

If you want a roll call for anyone do it, it's your business. If a few folks complain about it, oh well, let them make an anti-roll call!
5 people is hardly all hell breaking loose.

No games, no basketball to discuss/argue about, no trade rumors, blog is slow as molasses, so a few guys gotta create some drama.

Okey dokey then, have fun.

@Art, Sounds like a plan. Mamba24 walking it off! Thank you my brother! Carry On!

Justa... When Griffen can leap over a Lamborgini like Kobe, only then will I accept that 3 ring Circus of a dunk!!! Mamba24.. All's good with Laker nation. It becomes very hard when you can see both view points and you like both bloggers.

1. I thought Kobe jumped over an Austin Martin.

2. Kobe didn't really jump over that car.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

JonK .... Really I know he didn't jump over the car and I'm a woman, I don't remember cars!! LOL

Sean are u gonna tell us what happened in the finals? seriously? u have a big imagination, Pau didnt follow Artest lead, he was the one leading lakers, making huge shots and fundamental defenses. He was the one who made lakers think that really could win when koby was doing turnovers and bad selected shots nonstop. Simply dont say lies. Many pple is not happy with gasol now, but they are every year the say, they always blame him in the middle of the season, but u know what dont tell lies. Pau has always been an intense player and a winner, just look at the titles he has, its not casual, he works like that and its a succes, its a fact
