@KobeMVP888...You know I think you are being very HARSH and I take offense the way you poke fun of Ron being nuts. If you want to bash the way he's playing or that he's not stepping up, fine go for it, he'd probably agree. But until you've walked in his shoes and know what he has to deal with every day of his life,I think you owe him and all the other people that suffer from this illness!!!!!!! Being a Laker fan is an Honor and if yov've been one for the last 4 yrs, you know that we all worry and fret when they don't show up. But you know what? They show up in JUNE which is 5 months away!!! And no, I don't give them a free pass for NOT playing defense. And all you Celtic lovers, in the words of Paula Pierce....We're not going back to LA! You could have won it in BAWSToN with PERK!! Laker's will hang #17!! I'm out.

"Ten days from now, it will be 154-120...we`ll try to get VONilla WAFER some playing time in that one."
I think KG needs to put these numbers as well on his sneaks:
4-10(the number of CHAMPIONSHIPS the Celts have won, vs. the Lakers since 1980)
The worst part about yesterday's game: seeing Matt "horse face" Damon courtside smiling and yucking it up.

I swam competitively for my LAUSD high school TEAM and won a city championship for 3 consecutive years as well as playing varsity city finalist volleyball. I know about TEAM play.

Okay that explains it, but I don't like it. All Lakers are worthy of criticism, but I don't think we should bash ANY of them...but hey that's me. Lots here enjoy bashing Fish, Luke, etc. Don't go to the dark side.
That being said...the Lakers will not get a 3pt if Ron doesn't play better. Yesterday was just a terrible game by him. He'll get it togehter...he's too talented not to.

Implicitly, I did criticize everyone but Kobe. I don't even think I "bashed" Artest, at least not compared to the sickening over the top bashing that Bynum, Gasol, Fish, Luke and Blake endure in here. I know you read my posts and rarely do I mention Artest. When he signed with us, I was thrilled because he gave us that element of toughness and defense that I thought would be necessary to repeat. He also shot the ball from 3 point land very well the preceding season. So I guess I was right about that. And while I am not one to talk about off court behavior as a general rule, I have never liked this nut job notwithstanding the Detroit incident and, not unexpectedly, last year's championship has swelled his head more than any other player on the team. He's more concerned with giving away his personal possessions, forgoing his salary next season, making rap records and otherwise distracting himself to the task at hand and it has been evident all season. So I'm just suggesting that he get his act together. If you want to call that "bashing," so be it.
But I am NOT doing what the real bashers are doing which is demanding that he or anyone else be traded. You read my criticisms on Gasol, but I don't call him names or do anything but show appreciation for everything he has done since he arrived here and I can only hope he gets a second wind. Without a 100% Pau, no three-peat and I don't care what player you replace him with. I recognize Bynum's role on this team, realize he's not 100% quite yet, but I'm satisfied with his progress. And I will never abandon D-Fish as long as he's a Laker and I think Lamar Odom is still a unique piece to the championship puzzle with his versatility. I saw enough in the second quarter yesterday to satisfy myself that this team, with its 4-5 combination playing 48 minutes at a high level, cannot be beat in a 7 game series. My only concern is whether Gasol has enough gas left in his tank this season because he is the key to that 4-5 combination. If he's truly on empty, we'll get knocked out in the second round.
Oh, and if that happens, I'll still give this team a standing ovation for all it has given us fans for the past three seasons. Frankly, I still feel spoiled rotten.

It really does help perspective to have played at the 'pro' level to know how hard and demoralizing it is to force passes into bigs that are unable to hold onto a pass because they don't elbow their defenders off or have hands strong enough to grab the ball and hold it while being pummelled by 'Celtics' or any other 'Thuggets' types we have seen these years. Many broken ribs later from playing the 5 have taught some of us what it is to play against these odds.
BTW, if Lakers just run the passing lanes and break across the lane no matter how much Kobe waves them off, he will either continue to run into them on his drive or then be forced to hit them on the move and open on the quick slash (I do miss Trevor for this). Win-win for all involved and when/if they lose the ball or put up weak shots (like they are doing 90% of the time now), that will hopefully silence PJ and all these other blog/ESPN/pundit experts for a day or two.
Remember, no less than Jon Barry (no Laker/Kobe fan) was defending Lobe's play last night in anger at his co-commentators on TV!!! ESPN has a vested interest (Wilbon, etc.) in making sure anything other than Lebron, (such as Kobe) is diminished in stature. Wilbon also is a Chicago/Jordan homer, so all he has to say needs to be put through that screen/filter, also. His forever hero Jordan can do no wrong and his GOAT will never be unseated by anybody no matter what they do, unless it is his ESPN sponsored Lebron.

First you need to figure out who you are talking to. Your giving me credit for something I didnt say. Your post would probably carry more weight if you at least knew who said what!
But since you brought it up ... I dont think KG can put "4-10(the number of CHAMPIONSHIPS the Celts have won, vs. the Lakers since 1980)" that would be much too long to fit on his "sneaks". Too many disclaimers. After this year and before that year ... too messy!
How bout if he just puts 17-16? Or 9-3? Simple, clear and to the point!

bob costas?
Posted by: soshibo | January 31, 2011 at 09:37 AM
As crazy as it sounds, I used to berate Costas, now, I'm...'okay'... with him, in small doses.
I'll take Costas over Stuart 'lame as a duck' Scott any day of the week. I'll take him over Hannah Storm, Mike Torico, etc.
He's quite condescending in tone and verbally, I just ignore it now, I'm used to
his I'm better and smarter than you mentality.

nba on nbc sounds better, imo. mike torico and "BANG!" is pretty funny. hand down, man down; hand up, so what are all pretty funny too. costas was cool, and i can't stand jvg at all.
oh, and hannah storm.... yum... and she's like, 50?

I think he could easily fit 4-10.
Plus, the only player on that squad to have any credibility as a true Green Weenie is Paula Pierce.
K.G. proved to be a loser all those years in Minny. He couldn't get it done without teaming up with Puala and Allen.
Just like LeQueen couldn't get it done( and is still trying to get it done)without teaming up with Bosh and Wade.

I guess that makes Kobe a loser too!

Somebody mentioned earlier in this post that this game meant more to the greenies. Now that you guys have me thinking about this, I agree.
The whole HCA is something we need to be mindful of as the season progresses. Look at who is constantly on the greenies behind - they have a legit 3 other teams (ORL, MIA, CHI). The worst we can do is 4th in our conference.
Seedings are going to way more important for the EC.
As for the WC - Spurs have to be on every night because Dallas is legit this year. I don't think Pop wants to have another 6, 7, 8 seeding - remember last year. The Spurs spent all of last year saying HCA didn't mean anything, this year, they actually have to keep looking over their shoulder.
I think this whole nipping at the bud thing can get a little tiring during the course of a very long season. It's exhausting having to be on EVERY single night.
I'm not excusing lack of team play, strengthening weakneses, TEAM defense, etc. But I think part of PJ's psychology with this Laker team is let everyone else beat themselves up. Let everyone else get the glory of the regular season media hype.
There are certainly going to be L's as well as very frustrating games where we (the casual, yet hyper, super Laker fans) get a little nutty, PJ knows how to manage a champion season. And my money is still on the Lakers and as long as he's coach, still on PJ!
If PJ sees progress, then I am okay with that. He will never tell us (or the media otherwise) but if we start to see some improvements (esp after ASG), then I think we will be on the right track.
I can still expect a much higher level of play from the Lakers. But let's face it - HCA means way more to the Celtics this year than it does to the Lakers. It meant more to the Cavs last year and oops there it went. HA!
PJ is the master. And when the chips are down and it's Spurs/Lakers in WCF - deep down, PJ knows we can beat the Spurs and frankly I feel that too. No way the Spurs beat us in 7.
I think PJ is saying if this Laker team stays in top 3 record-wise - we have a good chance to keep HCA - like last year. He might be playing a little roulette but the NBA is "where amazing happens".
Cheers all - PLG

Nope, I did not forget. Kobe and Shaq were a dominant team. So are Kobe and Pau.
Kobe and Shaq= two perrenial All Stars
Kobe and Pau = two perrenial All Stars
K.G., Allen, Paula, Rondo= three perrenial All Stars, one one time All Star(2010)
LeCreep, Wade, Bosh= three perrenial All Stars

Who cares about all star appearences? Bottom line ... Kobe didnt win without Shaq or Pau! So if KG and LeBron are losers because they cant win without others ... Then so is Kobe.
What about Karl Malone and Gary Payton? How many All Star appearences did they make? Hall of Famers?
Dont try and spin it! Take those purple and gold glasses off! Nobody wins by themselves and that includes MJ, Russell, Wilt and on and on.
Want more proof? Did you watch the game yesterday?
Stop spinning ... youre gonna hurt yourself!!!
Posted by: 131-92 | January 31, 2011 at 10:58 AM
Yes, yesterday was a terrible loss. It's always a terrible loss when it's against the Celtics. But, it was a close game throughout until 5 minutes left in the 4th qtr.
Posted by: Rocky | January 31, 2011 at 08:00 AM
Very good point, Rocky...the Celtics won the game during that last five minute spurt and during the outburst in the third quarter when Pierce got hot. As bad as the Lakers played, this was still a close game. The final score is not indicative of that.
