Lakers satisfied with Thursday's practice as it gears up for Miami

Normally the Lakers practice no longer than an 75 minutes, knowing that rest for a veteran laden bodes more importance than ironing out chemistry.

Still, the Lakers had the day off Wednesday following an embarrassing loss Tuesday to Milwaukee and acknowledged the lack of the practice time during their six-game trip hurt their effectiveness. So the Lakers spent about two hours practicing Thursday, with Coach Phil Jackson saying it mostly emphasized on running drills and practice simulations.

The results turned out to be in Pau Gasol's eyes "one of the best practices we had all year," a positive sign as the Lakers prepare for their Christmas Day game against Miami. In fact it was one of the rare practices that featured everyone with exception to Theo Ratliff practicing together in full-court drills.

"Hopefully we'll start learning how to play together," said Jackson.

GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Well hello LAT bloggers, hoping you're staying dry if you're there on the coast, has it stopped raining yet? Happy holidays to all, across the cyber universe. Glad to see that Lakers practice has brought a degree of normalcy and togetherness because the other night was just not a happy place for team or fans. Very much looking forward to the Christmas day game, hoping a refocused Lakers squad reduced the Heat to splintered kindling.

dave m - a merry happy to you as well. Rains stopped today, and all is looking brighter (though it was fun). See you on the other side... of the year. Go Lakers!

The coaches ought to be held accountable too, because i do not see why they did not run a single play to post up Boykins. That just does not make any sense to me.

It makes no difference. This team will be boston's bitch.
3peat? Uh oh. Not this time lake show. Boston will tear your hearts out.
p.s: losing to bucks is a disgrace to the basketball world.

Dear Troll,

Merry Christmas!

I think you might want to hold your tongue before you take a stab at being a prognosticator. After all, it didn't work out so well for Paul Pierce.

Good luck in the season,

LTLL

Looks like the Grinch is out in full force.

Guess he's still upset about a game 7 loss. Being up 14 and getting owned will always make you grouchy. But he is green, and that's enough to make anyone sick.

Apply to Mitch Kupchak for the head coaching job next season. Wait! I forgot that he's "Cupcake" to you and you hate him, too.

By the way, what are your thoughts on the recent 6-1 road trip the Lakers just completed?

Oh, and LRob, a Voice of Reason who is accepting of everyone's viewpoints (unlike arrogant me), has also expressed an interest in seeing your Lakers Fan Profile. That makes LRob, 63 and me who would like to see it. You certainly add a different twist in here being an AVID Lakers fan who has absolutely nothing positive to say about the team .. past, present or future (including your implication that we would have lost to Cleveland last season if we had faced them in the Finals). So how about it, keen? We'd love to learn more about you!

If I were a Celtic fan, I'd be way more concerned about the Heat than the Lakers. Gotta go through a young-ish Heat team to even get to the Lakers.

longtimelakerlover - and a violent little munchkin as well, wanting to throw things in Laker players' faces. We don't want to throw things in Celtic players' faces. We let them lose all by themselves.

Boykins was guarding Fish and Blake. Neither of them are post up players. Thus, I don't think it would have been wise strategy. Now if the Phil had put Shannon in at PG for either of them...then it would've been a valid strategy to pursue to get Lil Earl out his comfort zone. However, given how bad the Lakers outside shooting was I sure Skiles would've doubled the post and gave up more jumpers.

We need to get some humor in here and get that Christmas spirit...

This is the funniest post I have read in a while.

Someone who is a Miami Heat fan with the name HATER saying they need to leave the Lakers blog because the comments are too negative towards the Lakers.

I don't mean any offense to you Mr Hater, it just struck me as funny.

@DJ-If I were a Yankee fan, I'd be more concerned about the Red Sox than the Celtics.

Hey didn't the celtics lose to the cavs who has the worst record in the league?

what's mean woodwork?...

@63 Footer – Excellent selection. I heard that earlier today on the radio. Now get better and that’s an order!

@hobbit – Happy Holidays. How is your dog doing?

@Lew – That was funny. How did you like the Cheech and Chong?

@frmkt – Nice call. Yep Connie could sing that to the Trolls. "Now they’re having their way, but later they’ll pay!"

@Wes – Always nice to get a visit from Bobby. Yes, I believe No Mo Plautitudes gave us a double shot of with the live performance at Band Aid of Queen’s “Is this the World We Created” followed by “Do They Know It’s Christmas”.

FYI…there are some here that have frequently downgraded DHoward’s game imho. I’m sure those guys are probably bummed that’s he would like to play for the P&G. Perhaps they would prefer to see him in Miami or Boston.

KobeMVP888,

you wrote: Nice post at 01:56 PM. Actually, the term "practice season" seems to bother: 1) fans who take EVERY game seriously as if it's personal and 2) bloggers who are contrary for the sake of being contrary. I disagree, without trying to be disagreeable, that there's anything arrogant about it at all if you understand the the context in which it's put.

my response:

re: taking *EVERY* game seriously.

So ... when you play ball at the park, do you try to win? Seriously?

When you play cards for $$, do you play seriously?

Kobe made over $237,690.55 Tuesday night. Is that serious $$ to you?

Would you step on the mat w/ *anyone* for $1000.00 and not take it
seriously?

re: arrogance and your posts.

hmmm ..... Allow me to phrase it this way:

If I tell you that your posts are informing me of a thing that you didn't want
them to ... are you willing to communicate w/ me until I understood what
you meant?

re: trying to be disagreeable. hmmm ... other bloggers have commented on whether
or not your being disagreeable and why.

So ... once again, if I tell you that you're coming across in a manner that ...
perhaps you don't want to ... will you work with me to help me understand?

LRob,

re: my dog. Thanks for asking. He didn't make it.

Mark G,

Speaking of Christmas "Wrapping"...here's my favorite Christmas rap with Kurtis at his best.

It seems the Lakers play up or down to their opponents. The next several games, Miami and San Antonio and New Orleans will be a good gauge of where they are in the season. Something tells me they will beat two out of three.

How may clutch shots on Christmas has Fisher hit ?

The word " L O S E " is spelled L O S E !!!! Not L O O S E.

The Lakers have pretty much stunk up the court this first part of the season.

I'm tired of hearing all the Laker faithful say the regular season doesn't matter.
It might not matter to you when you are watching regular season games at home but spend some hard earned money to watch this team under perform and you won't be so forgiving !!!

hobbitmage

People have different online personalities. Your online personality is irksome to me and mine is irksome to you. You have challenged me since I started posting here and I have returned the favor. We'd probably get along fine in real life.

I didn't say that I'm not being "disagreeable" on here. I just said that there's a big difference between "agree to disagree" (which is commonly used to end a debate) and "disagreeing without being disagreeable" (a blogging approach taken by the more mature bloggers on here like Art and LRob). That doesn't suit my style, as disagreeable as that style may seem to many. I'd change my moniker to LAKER TRUTH, but that's already taken.

You better believe I try to be disagreeable when people twist, distort or otherwise exaggerate what I post in here. However, I prefer to make my own enemies rather have someone like you distort what I mean by, for example, the "practice season" when you know full well what I really mean. You do it just to egg these other anti-KobeMVP888ers on. They already hate me. They don't need to be dished a dime from you.

When I posted "without trying to be disagreeable" to you, I meant it in the spirit of a new approach I've been trying to take with you. However, either you are incapable of taking a new approach with me or have no interest in it because it might cramp your style. Your most recent Webster's Dictionary post defining "arrogant" certainly suggests the latter.

re: my dog. Thanks for asking. He didn't make it.

Regardless of our differences on here, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your pet. That sucks, especially this time of year.

@hobbit
Sorry to hear about your little buddy- Always hurts bad when we lose a family member, whether he/she's a human or not.

@LRob
Nice! Kurtis Blow rocks the house!

@LEWSTRS
That was truly some funny ish!

@63
I like that one too. Hope you wake up healthy tomorrow morning.

This is my favorite Christmas Jam:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR07r0ZMFb8

lakers will win if fisher will not start..fisher no much against miami point guard..offense and defense 5 miami vs 4 lakers..

LEBRON plays better the most hostile the fans. Lebron has beating the Lakers before on Christmas. The Heat do not have a reason to make up motivation. Also, I doubt Lebron or Wade will change their play to prove a point, where Kobe prefers to his one on one vs the triangle.

HEAT BABY!
