Laker blog profile: Wendy glad to be a newcomer with the L.A. Times Lakers blog

Screen name: Wendy

Full name: Wendy Maradiaga

Occupation: Office manager

Age: 36

Gender: Female

Home: Honduras

Story behind your screen name: Simple, my first name!

How I became a Lakers fan: I was a big Bulls fan and after learning Phil Jackson was the new Lakers head coach, I immediately became a Lakers fan, but not only that -- I love Kobe's game, his determination, his focus. I think he is a great player.

Favorite Laker memory: Would have to be Game 7 and Artest being the difference, proving Mitch Kupchack’s only move for the year paid off brilliantly.

Most heartbreaking Lakers experience: Haven't had one yet; hopefully there is not one in the near future.

Favorite Lakers player: Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol

Greatest all-time Laker: Kobe Bean Bryant

Last time you went to a game at Staples Center and at the Forum: Never been to a game before. I live outside the U.S.

Opposing team, player you dislike the most: I love basketball and don't hate any other team or players. I actually like the Boston Celtics but the Lakers is the best team in the NBA.

Interactions with Lakers players: I tweet Shannon Brown, Matt Barnes, Derek Fisher and Lamar Odom hoping one of them will one day reply to me. That is the closest interaction I can ever get.

Most cherished piece of Lakers memorabilia I have: Two Lakers Adidas T-shirts, yellow and purple, and a Lakers cap.

Memorable stories about being a Lakers fan: I have never even seen a game live, but I love the game and seeing them play so this year I decided to register the NBA League Pass so I can see all of their games and so far I have not missed a game. My heart hurts every time they play and lose. All my family and friends hide from me now because all I do is talk about the Lakers. I am hoping to fly to New Orleans in February to watch them play Feb. 5 against the New Orleans Hornets. I really hope I can make it; this would be a dream come true for me. I really love watching them play, and I would die to be able to see Kobe.

Hiya Wendy! Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome to the blog! I have never been to Honduras, but I was in Peru at one time. Nice to meet you.

Welcome aboard. I enjoyed your profile and hope you make in to the game in February. Way to represent Laker Nation in Honduras.

@WENDY… Thanks for joining the blog family. It’s a pleasure to meet you and to have a Lakers blogger from Honduras. You’re joining an already impressive group of female bloggers.

Wendy welcome to Lakers Nation and Lakers Blog. Favorite Lakers Player Kobe Bryant and Greatest Laker Player Kobe Bryant, that alone means you can do no wrong in my book ma'am. Then add that to your being a big Bulls fan and my being from Chicago and I'd say Folks we got ourselves a winner here! Lol! But Wendy, Wendy, like the Celtics? LIKE THE CELTICS? Lol! Yes Wendy we can respect the Tradition of the Celtics but, we gone have to work on that liking the Celtics thing. Just playing with you Wendy. It appears to me you are an outstanding representative of Lakers Nation in Honduras. Thank you for giving Lakers Blog a little slice of the life of Wendy. Oh and Wendy...OUT FREAKIN STANDING MA'AM!!!!

@LakerPeace – A tribute from Ree Ree…whoa you just gave LO the ultimate props…sweet.

@Justa – Luda in the building! And thanks for the quote from DJ. I’m with you in wishing him all the best.

@Mamba – Good to see Chris Brown get some love on his looong road to recovery. I’m hoping he make it.

@magia32 – blazing the J. Blue…I like.

@LakerTom – Thanks for highlighting that article.

@bronx – I agree LO wasn’t trying to pass to himself. He was trying to lay it in, but missed and followed with a tip dunk. Nice improv.

As for LO - I will repeat what I said when I joined the all-star or bust bandwagon: just watch LO. Watch him with the starters, watch him with the bench. He's leading, he's running, he's decisive and excited. If LO is happy and able to play to his natural skills and persona, I think the team is happy. There's a lot of good that comes with team chemistry....

His dunk last night was like watching a really good saxophonist, say Ravi Coltrane. Like Ravi's father before him, LO used old school moves of The Iceman and Wilt to make beautiful Laker music in the birthplace of jazz.

PLG – Well here’s your dedication to LO….Ravi doing one of his dad’s standards, “Giant Steps”. Definitely a case of the apple not falling too far from the tree. Very fitting for the steps LO is taking this year.

@Mamba – Good to see Chris Brown get some love on his looong road to recovery. I’m hoping he make it.Posted by: LRob | December 30, 2010 at 01:12 PM
Yep LRob me too! And I'm hoping he's going to help me to make someone number one! Lol! You hear that Fabulous!!!!

Bienvenida Wendy. I hope you get to go to New Orleans to watch the Lake Show and Kobe. Glad to have you on board. Keep tweeting away at our players, one day you'll get a response back. Vivan Los Lakers!

*Welcome Wendy.

*Finally got a win. Bynum back in the starting lineup is a good thing.

*Is it just me, or are LeBron James and Chris Bosh 'Mr. Know-it-all's'? It seems every time one of them has an inteview, they are talking about how they know about this and know about that, how they knew about this and knew about that. I think it's starting to get ridiculous. It's ok to say you don't know fellas. jeez

*Let's get on a little win streak now and get back into the homecourt advantage hunt.

Go Lakers!

Welcome, Wendy...did a quick Google of Honduras and it certainly seems like a beautiful country. I recently got a chance to see Kobe play in person for the first time and can only hope that you'll be able to experience the same thrill.

Your eclectic knowledge of music never ceases to amaze me. seems like you read every word that is written on this blog. Interacting with folks like you is what makes this site fun! Cheers!

LRob... Loved the Giant Steps tribute to LO!! Did Detroit get a lot of snow? Knowing the Vikings will be playing the Lions, look for a cancelled game.LOL. What does your wife think of Joe Webb? Maybe he'll be okay and maybe Brett can at least start his last game ever!!! A very Awesome New Year to you. I Enjoy your posts.

Here's the skinny on KG....

It's a calf injury that will probably keep him out a couple of weeks.

Welcome "Home" Wendy :-) If you're not surrounded by other Laker Fanatics during game time, do yourself and the Blog Family a favor: join us on the Mark Medina sponsored Lakers Live Chat and if you're still "jonesing" after the game, there's always the "Renegade Chat Room." It's perfect therapy when you just can't get enough of our beloved Lakers! Good Luck making it to N.O. in February; nothing better than experiencing a live game and I appreciate your candor regarding the Celtics and other teams in the NBA in general. I share your love and appreciation for the other teams in the league. All that matters is whatever team comes up against the Lakers, it's imperative that our opponent loses. I look forward to reading your posts and "seeing" you in the chat rooms.

Dear Wendy:

Hope you do attend a Lakers game in Feb. There is nothing like it live and real in front of you.

To all Laker Fans, Happy New Year! Be well...

Hey Wendy...glad you were able to submit your profile to Mark M...

Welcome to the Blog...not just Game Day Chat, but we want to see you on the Blog as well...

Thanks for representing over there in Honduras...and I hope you get to watch a game live...

Gotta be able to say...YES...I have seen my favorite player and my team play in person...

At last a game that a Laker fan can watch to its entirely. I feel for all the fans who paid to watch them in Staple Center only to see them being kick in the They are 3-6 against teams with a winning record. They've been beaten by teams that is good but not supposed to be a title contender namely Utah, Denver, Chicago, beaten badly by supposed to be title contender like San Antonio and Miami and yet to face real contender like the Mavericks, Celtics, and the Magic. The longer the season goes the shorter the belief that this team will three-peat.

Wendy, - I want to extend a hearty welcome to the L.A. Times Lakers blog and am honored and appreciative that you've decided to visit us and contribute on the comment threads.

Forgive me, but you are unclear on the concept.

One simply cannot simultaneously like the Boston Celtics and be a Lakers fan. It doesn't work like that.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

Bienvenida Wendy. Talvez un dia logras a ver un juego vivo.
Bien deseos de parte de su vecino (un chapin) pero aqui en Los Angeles.

*lol* That's funny, Jon. That's what others on this blog told me when I said my hubby is both a Lakers and Celtics fan - almost like a multiple personality disorder. But hey, you love who you love, right Wendy? So if you feel strongly for both Lakers and Celtics, I'm cool with that. Just make sure when they play each other, you're rooting for the Lakers - let there be no confusion there.

I hope your wish will come true and you get to scream your lungs out in Nawlins!

Would it be possible if you can have a link or seperate section on this page of other Laker Blog member profiles? I feel it would make the blog more interactive.
