Did I mention how happy I am for michael vick?

Just 2 years ago got screwed by this dogloving justice system, burned on the cross by the media, filed chapter 11 bankrupcty but is now playing like a league MVP and due for a ginormous payday.

Kudos to his loving and faithful wife for stickin by him and eagles management for giving him a second try when no one would touch him w a ten foot pole and special shot out to coach reid... Ur a genius!

no one would touch him w a ten foot pole...

===============

I would be quite happy to touch him with a ten foot pole, especially if it was sharp and pointed at the end. It would be even better if he were chained to a tree so when I was done some dogs, all vicious of course, could have at him.

I don't care what we call Shannon.

As long as he answers the bell when he's on the court, you can call him Nancy for all I care.

uggggh, BSPN is at it again. OTL is doing a piece on the COD: Black Ops and trying to vilify the mamba again

Hey, I'm happy Vick seems to have turned his life around and is performing sensationally for the Eagles, but...'dog loving justice system'???
You actually condone what he did?

Minnesota's Beastly Love combo tonight...you may be in for a treat.

Which reminds me...I saw no caption to the Beasley/Bryant photo on the prior thread. Let me help out.

Okay, I tried justa, but MM has turned a deaf ear to my lack of inhalation. But we will overcome! Sistah must get thee to the ASG!

And I'm callin' Shannon Nancy from now on.

Yellofever,

I agree. I'm super happy to see Micheal Vick back and better than ever. What he was doing was absolutley terrible. I have a dog and dogfighting disgusts me to the max. But there's no doubt that Vick took a punishment that was too much in my opinion. And he took responsibility for it like a man.

I've always liked Micheal Vick, since the Chargers traded him in order to draft the GOAT of the Chargers, LaDainian Tomlinson. We also got Drew Brees out of him. Unfortunately for us Charger fans, our management has no vision and got rid of both of them, but still...

Shannon Brown's nickname? UPS is just fitting I think.

Go Lakers!

Guys sorry for the delayed response. I was doing an interview with Roland Lazenby, who offered terrific insight on Tex Winter and Jerry West getting inducted this weekend to the collegiate basketball hall of fame. And then I wanted to get the Shannon post up.

This has been a fun inside joke between JAMF and I about the ASG, but I think I've emphasized enough how that's just not practical. Leagues are very strict with handing out credentials and in a national event like the ASG, applying for credentials is scrutinized even more.

I'm sure there will be All-Star events open to the public that weekend. And when that information is available, I'll pass it along.

MM

Why the F@#$ does Kevin Garnett hate Kobe and Dirk so much?

@Jon K...sorry bro...but going through my music, I came across this and immediately thought of you...

by the way, if shannon keeps up the three point shooting, id have to label him "Downtown Shannon Brown"

Down Town Shannon Brown

I'm heartbroken...

MM look at htis woman heartbroken near tears. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN YOU ARE A BLOG GOD WORK A MIRACLE AND TAKE HER TO THE ASG!!!!

justa - he's just saying that because he has to. Just remember Nam... we need to keep applying pressure in the form of peaceful protest, good music, winning basketball and the judicious use of extortion.

ASG or bust!

(MM scratches his head, unsure if this is humor or not, makes sure all his sexting has been erased off his cell phone, and breathes a sigh of relief.)

63 Footer - I'm scratching my head confused about your comment

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@63 Footer...

Great insight on Carlos Santana...never knew he tried to upstage Clapton...This really surprises me, for I never though he had any insecurities...

I do love Carlos' style...he just makes that guitar cry and his style is unique...

Do you think never getting a Grammy, and finally getting one with Rob and going commercial with his style, has anything to do with it...

I'm heartbroken...

Well Folks looks like 63 Footer will be our Martyr! We'll sing songs about you 63 Footer! LOL!!

yellofever

Great post about Michael Vick! I think this quote from Wall Street sums up Vick's Jail Sentence

"That's the one thing you have to remember about WASPs: they love animals and hate people"

- Gordon Gekko

LEWSTRS - I've never heard anyone I knew who's hung with him say a bad word, and at that level, everyone's pretty great technically, but he's got a little of that "last guitarist standing" thing going, where if he lasts long enough, he'll have final say on all the "greats" he's played with. He's wonderful, but I never put him in my top tier after his first few albums. Upstaging Eric was something I think you only try once. It's like trying to upstage Kobe... heh-heh-heh.

mamba24 - here's the song I want sung at my Martyr party:

As I've always said: "Martyrdom is a dying art-form."

Roll call ... checking in!!!

Now THIS is a trap game. The stinky, but improving, Kurt Rambis led Wolves will be a problem tonight. They are 3-1 on their home court and both Kevin Love and Michael Beasley have found their groove. The 6'10" Beasley is playing small forward, so the shorter, slower Artest will have his work cut out for him, especially considering he's scored 25+ points in each of his last 5 games. Perhaps LO is a better match up defensively for Beasley, but Love had his way with the "smaller" Artest last time we played them. Anyway, it's nice to see Rambis get this team winning a few games. A win tonight would be sweet, but it's certainly the furthest thing from a must win game.

1-2-3 RING! #17 coming up STRONG!!!

Justa to the ASG!

The first worthy bandwagon in Laker Blog history.

Sonnybelfast

KobeMVP888 - gotta agree, this has "trap" written all over it. I could see Barnes being some help here tonight. Should be interesting. Can't wait.

lew - hope everything's ok.......

lew - hope you're ok......

Somebody has to put a body on Kevin Love all game.

Wow!

Apparently, you've got some sadistic dog haters in Lakerland.

I suppose it makes sense.

Go Kings!
Go Niners!
Go Manny, go!

Sonnybelfast

Sonny,

Since you're a "kings" fan, what's up with the pundits saying Reke & Cousins are a cancer on the team?

just wait till lamar gets in foul trouble and our great phillip goes to luuuuuke at PF against love...
LUUUUUUUUUUKE..

i can feel another 30/30 game already.. you heard it here first!

yellofever - man, I SO HATE people who rag on Luke. It's obvious that Luke would do an AMAZING job on Love. Love and him would be running down court, and Luke would trip on his untied shoelace, go down hard, Love would trip over Luke, go sprawling, whack his head too hard on the floor and be out for the rest of the game (but be fine after that). Man, you have no faith in Luke's basketball greatness....

To those of you who are vilifying Michael Vick,

Would you feel the same way about Pau if you learned that he was into bullfighting? Or what if you learned that Luke was into hunting? I am a dog and animal lover, but I 100% support Vick. It's about understanding the cultural differences and environment that others grew up in. Vick grew up in a culture where dog fighting was accepted, and it's only natural to be desensitized to certain cruel behaviors if you are exposed to it since youth. If we grew up in ancient Rome, I would guess that most of us sports fans would have been gladiator fans back than, where humans kill other humans for sport. That would not make us "evil" or horrible human beings. We are simply products of our culture, and so is Vick. He has paid his dues, and than some, and deserves a second chance, just as much as you or me.

Love is a nice player, hope the Lakers get him some day.

Shan-WOW says it all.

HB Matt,

For all the apparent problems that the Kings have right now,
Reke and DMC being cancer on the team is honestly one I haven't heard.
What pundits have to say doesn't hold much water with me anyway.
Their job is to find (read create) storylines that will sell. Period.
Many people who contribute to this, and other good sports blogs
seem more insightful, and from them I have heard nothing in that regard.

I really like what I'm seeing with DMC. He's only 20.
I expect him to be one of the best in only two or three years.
Reke will be one of the best, but never, I think, as a guard.
He might function better as a three.

I'm not sold on Westphal. I'm not sure he is ideal for such a young team,
but we don't need another coaching change.

More experience, more experience, better coaching, only a couple of pieces,
and did I say, more experience will be all this very young team needs to get back into the game.

Can you believe the animal haters on this board?
What's the matter with these people?

Go Kings!
Go Niners!
Go Manny, Go!

Solid post, although there is room for judgment regardless of the environment, culture or upbringing one had. None of that makes it acceptable to break laws. Also, once you become a professional athlete earning millions of dollars, it holds you to a higher standard in terms of being a model citizen. I personally do not believe that athletes are role models; parents should strive to be role models. But the fact that Mike Tyson, for example, was an orphan does not give him the right to defile women, nor does it excuse Mike Vick from the puzzling conduct that he engaged in.

HAVING SAID THAT, I believe Vick has paid his dues and I am thrilled to watch him play football again, thrilled that he is playing at an even higher level than he played at before and thrilled that he should have many great years left in him. I do not think of his past misgivings nor do I judge him for those; I simply marvel at his play on the football field and wish him the very best.

I have the answer for Justa's ASG predicament. MM can hire her for one day as his personal assistant. That way, she is there on business.

@63
That vid was hilarious and disturbing at the same time.

@ 63 Footer – thanks for sharing the Santana-Clapton story. If there’s one dude you don’t want to upstage it would be the man with the Slow Hand.

@Lew – Al Stewart – a very good year indeed.

@RamneetKB24 – keep the predictions coming.

@yellofever–Being happy for Vick’s redemption is admirable. Condoning/Endorsing killing dogs is despicable.Dog fighting was a common occurrence where I grew up. It was a status thing to have the toughest dog. So I understand that mentality. In retrospect that was dumb. I’m glad Vick has expressed regret over that behavior and I wish him all the best.

UPS is a great nickname! Besides the shipping company reference, it also refers to his massive vertical. Brill!

Brown Mamba also way hilar.

RE: Michael Vick

Hold Vick up to the same standard you hold Kobe. Slight difference is Kobe was able to settle out of court (was most likely a smear campaign for dough, anyhow) and Vick was convicted and did jail time. But as far as the dues a person pays for a crime...that's why we have a penal system (no jokes, phred), courts judges and all that brou-ha-ha.

Once you pass though that system, you once again fall under the 'innocent until proven guilty' provision of our great country.

I love dogs, could never bring myself to hurt an animal (or most insects, they just have to live outside), karmically, it's bad to hurt others and so I try my best not to. That being said, it doesn't matter how rich, succesful or popular the person, we all make mistakes. The difference between us normal folk and the celebs is that they have a media following and nobody cares what I do.

Watching Michael Vick play football right now is watching athletic perfection. He is fulfilling all expectations that he had fallen short of. If anything, he's become a better person as a result of his mis-judgement. Was what he did heinous? More so than some people realize, dogs often never recover from the emotional scars inflicted on them. Should he be villified? Doesn't matter what I say, some will, some won't, but at the end of the day I challenge those who are willing to throw him on the pyre of righteous outrage to forgive lest they become that which they so voiciferously abhor, in a manner of speaking.

I vehemently disagree with yellofever that Vick got 'screwed'. He must be a cat person or something because that's kind of a thoughtless post. Electrocuting dogs, pulling the teeth out and other barbaric acts of torture are illegal for a very good reason.

I'm happy to see Vick do well, I think he is sincere about it all...it all speaks well for second chances

for Shannon: Freeze frame

I am on side with this LakerTruth nice post....about Shannon Brown's nickname...well as long as he continues to do what he's been doing and carry it through the Finals his name is Shannon, but if no I call him Kwame Brown Jr.....

Here's one for the list that I love to call him...

Downtown Cannon Brown

"UPTOWN" Brown or "THROWDOWN" Brown?

I think that Shannon's name should be:........

Shannon Brown- Son of Kobe!
