Ex-Laker DJ Mbenga signs with Hornets

It took him a while to find a new team, but former Lakers center DJ Mbenga signed Wednesday with the New Orleans Hornets.

The seven-foot-tall Mbenga was signed by the Lakers in January 2008 after being cut by the Warriors; he won two championship rings as a reserve with the Lakers. Mbenga became a free agent in July.

Mbgenga played in 49 regular season games for the Lakers in in 2009-10 and averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Trevor and DJ re-united! Their goal? Jimmy Kimmel.

Mamba24,
Dude I am so sorry I was half asleep and didn't wish your daughter a very happy birthday. May she enjoy and wish each one is better than the last.

REPOST

@mamba24 - Thanks for the bandwagon auto-adds, G-Unit, you're the best. Funny slice of theology, justa, as a life long agnostic all these stories about ancient dinosuars named 'Adam' and 'Eve' always crack me up, why would a dinosaur talk to a snake any way, right? But I suppose when you're a fellow back 1n 205 AD, drinking your homemade wine, rambling to the young scribe working on his college thesis called 'The Bible' who just so happens to live next door to your hut on the coast of the Mediterannean (this was before property tax so having a hut/villa on the coast was affordable for the comman man), your liable to get a few whoppers in there.

And God said, GAME DAY, BABY, YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH!! (God cracks open a cold can O suds) - Looks like we get to pound on the Queens tonight, BOO-YAH! Feeling good avout tonight, not sure why, but I think we take this one behind a super game from Caracter who didn't have the best overseas stat lines (mainly he got ownedby the guys playing centert for FC Barca), but showed his heart by fighting through some bad play. I'm talking big 4th quarter minutes, the most he's likely to see all year.

GO LAKERS!!!!!

Truly, though, I like your version better.

Also, great news for the Mbenga clan, I kinda had a hard time believeing nobody would want the guy. I mean, the Clippers didn't sign Jake Voshkul and Dj's hand over foot better than that guy. Crack the starting line up DJ, that'll mean the season's in the crapper for the Hornets and maybe they'll trade us Chris Paul for peanuts! JK

Well, in a perfect world, I'd pay $5o to watch Kobe play LBJ, and with what I make, that would be like most people paying like $5,000 or so. But not this season, Kobe needs to rest that knee.

Oh, but if Kobe was healthy, or if Kobe's shot was on, either way, he'd beat LBJ 10-0, 20-0, 81-0, whatever you want.

I hate myself for even reading the Ricky Reilly article, but I had to see the quotes. I noticed that with all the talk about officiating and whether they would call fouls on LBJ or no, nobody ever mentioned whether they would call traveling. Since Bronny hasn't had to actually dribble the ball since about fifth grade, that would definitely make a difference.

Good for DJ. I wish him the best. Better there than in Charlotte XD

GO LAKERS!!

LOL Jamie Sweet - I don't believe my version for a second! :)

DJ Mbenga - I hope you do GREAT in NO. I hope you kick some azz and take a few names. I am really going to miss you. You represented the Laker organization with class and dignity, and you'll always be loved and appreciated for that AND for your ceaseless efforts in making your home country a better place to live. Best of success in everything you do, DJ. Thanks for everything.

LRob - I was not being defensive. I was being funny dammit.

:)

Damn. Anybody got a web link to the live game. Comcast in NorCal does not have the game on the air. What a bummer. Come home looking forward to a game. Help, somebody. Thanks.

Laker Tom,

It's poor man's TV, but try out ATDHE.net. They've got the game scheduled.
This is how I watch games over here, but especially during the preseason, it's a crap shoot.

Go Kings!

thanks for the link.... awesome

I'm really happy for 'Congo Cash', he was one of the more likeable players to don the Purple & Gold. I hope he does well with his new team.

Let's go Ls...all the way to a 3-peat!!!!!

@SONNY & CHICNSTU… Thanks for the link. Not real smooth but better than nothing and great to hear the normal LA announcers. Team looked pretty good. We should be fine by opening day and at hopefully at full strength by the end of the first month.

Geez, how many different ways can you misspell Mbenga?

Had it right the first time, but then:

Mbgena?

Mbegna?

Mbgenga?
