Derrick Caracter and Devin Ebanks debate 2Pac versus Notorious B.I.G.

It's remained an unresolved issue within the hip-hop community and has even sparked debate among Laker rookies Derrick Caracter and Devin Ebanks.

It's the age-old question on whether 2Pac or Notorious B.I.G hold the crown as the all-time greatest rapper. It's a debate that intrigues most rap fans because of how much their albums set the tone in the mid-1990s, their unfortunate and unresolved deaths and the beef between Death Row and Bad Boy records.

The ongoing debate Caracter and Ebanks have about their hip-hop interests reflect the close relationship they've fostered since AAU ball and it's certainly helped their acclimation phase with the Lakers. More than likely, they have debated this topic a few times during the team's trip to Europe. And in the video below, they lay out their arguments.

This is really a non-debate, these guy's are well into their dirt nap, Both were tops in the game.

Don't care in this one as to who is better rapper. They need to debate who is going to have better season this year, DC or DE.

Must be a slow day for Lakers news. MM, nice job holding the camera and moving the mic back and forth without losing the frame much.

Being one of three daughters myself and the oldest so I was my Dad's son that he never had. He wanted to instill his love of sports in me and he did. It's so nice of you to share your love of Lakers with your girls. I know they will appreciate it (and so will their future boyfriends/husbands). Cheers and congrats! Great profile. PLG

Hey Psyhced, thanks for the compliments, I truly appreciate it. I think your Dad did a remarkable job with his daughters if the others are in any way similar to you. He instilled them with the knowledge to hold their own in all types of situations. As the Lakers were going for the 1st Title of this 3-peat, Lakers Nation was not just hoping for a win for the Nation or the team or Phil or Kobe. We wanted it just as much for you and your Dad. So it was a kind of bittersweet victory. Psyched if my girls can turn out half as well as PsychedLakerGirl, I will be the proudest dad in the world. Thank you for all you do to keep Lakers Nation in balance. Even when all hope is gone – such as Game 7 of the Finals -PsychedLakerGirl believes and it’s a beautiful thing. Thank you Shannon.

@JustaHater & JustaLakerFan, great points from you both so I don't know how I'm going to do this. I've never split one before, but I got to say it so...OUT FREAKIN STANDING SIRS!!!!!

WAVE THE BLACKOUT RULE ON THURSDAY - BANDWAGON
*_______________________________________________________*
(01) RICK FRIEDMAN - OWNER - LA fans were deprived of live TV coverage of the Lakers first pre-season game only because it was played in London at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Had it been played in the U.S., we wouldn't have had to wait eight hours. Thursday, the Lakers play in Barcelona. Same issue. Let me declare that we need strong support for a new bandwagon: WAVE THE BLACKOUT RULE ON THURSDAY. CBS (KCAL9's owner), Jeanie Buss, and David Stern can wave the rule if they want to. They just have to want to. We have to make them want to. Only rabid fans that populate the Lakers blog will be watching, but we matter. It won't affect the prime time ratings whatsoever. Sign up. Rick F., include me in your bandwagon on black out rule. You want to trace all the BS in our society today, follow the money trail. Players asked for more long term contract, Lakers asked for more fees from networks, Networks are now asking more fees from cable providers, eventually providers asked for increased fees on end users. Why did they have a black out rule? Because of low ratings at noon time compared to 7pm and promote NBA league pass as well. I wonder what happened to ratings after Lakers were trashed by the bottom dweller team last season.

We don't really care if you lose during preseason but it is not a good promotion of purple and gold team especially to fans overseas. It is like going to the show of: Ringling Bros Circus, Cirque du Soleil, Harlem Globetrotters, wherever and whenever they performed, the audience expect good entertainment because of the brand that they carry. The audience paid good money to watch the show. Who are we as a brand? The Purple and Gold team, the team with winning tradition, therefore all Laker players (new or old) got to have a heart to play like a Champion, Artest should always be playing his best even if it is just playing preseason game in London or playing hoops in Venice Beach. A Laker is like a Spartan who should be proud of his brand and his image.

Remember pre season Ain't no big thang!

Just remember...

i think that the nba should be a little more concerned about the "product" they are putting out there. i think that it was rather thoughtless, ok, stupid of them to tick off a new market by showing a poor product. also as some of you did, i saw the london press conference with stern giving the impression there does not appear to be any franchises from that side of the pond any time soon. i see this as arrogance rto think people paying a lot of money for that "dreck"

I think the real debate is how are these guys going to handle the Heat!

handle the Heat? That's pretty easy: high passes to our bigs, what are they going to do? NADA...

Now, the real debate is how are these guys going to handle the refs against the Heat!

LOL, Hey you! We did!

MM,

Don't know if either are GROAT...Jay Z, Rakim, Nas and Em all are in the conversation. I tend to lean toward Rakim cause he changed the game.

But I'll take Pac over Biggie cause he had more hits and touched upon more serious subjects overall than Biggie.

@JustaLF - if LO played like Sammy entertained the Lakers would be scary.

Please, Please I beg of you, No East Coast, West Coast, Blog Wars!!!!

NBA TV 'bout to show the meats first game. Pregame show on now, and Marv Albert doing the call, too.

That is, unless we're blacked out. Which takes me to:

mamba24: Definitely hold my place on the 'blackout bus' - haven't been feeling well for a couple days but wouldn't miss the live NBA TV telecast for anything, got all psyched out, readied to sit back and enjoy the Laker 2010-2011 premiere in all it's glory - and was met with nothing but a blank screen.

OK, I did manage to find an ESPN UK TV feed on the 'net, but it was pretty horrible viewing, as those streaming videos tend to be. It was interesting to hear Jon Barry call the game, and the feed even had a Kobe interview at halftime, but I really would have liked to be able to watch it in HD. Only the most hardcore Laker fans would have tuned in and even been able to with work and all, and the ratings on KCAL would have been unaffected (I know a lot of us, like myself, would have watched KCAL also to hear Stu & Joel's call of the game!)

LET US L.A. FANS WATCH THE BARCELONA GAME LIVE!

OK, I'm pretty sure that David Stern isn't reading the blog (Jeannie Buss might though), and this won't be the deciding factor I'm sure, but we all gotta support the cause! FREE LAKER LIVE TV!!! lol...

- - -

Otis (paulie): Great read of your profile, you made the right choice in choosing the Lakers over the Losstown Septics lol. You just gotta work on the family to come over 'from the darkside' lol. Loved the stories, cool you got to touch Wilt, he was like a living legend throughout my childhood, it was simply unimaginable what he did, the 100-pt gm, averaging 50-pts a season, etc...

Glad we have so many great people here on the blog!

Got this migraine I just can't shake, so gonna chill and watch the meat and their mismatched pieces try to gel together.

GO LAKERS!!!!!

Aww, just saw the Hornets released Jannero Pargo:

http://ambasketball.com/2010/10/hornets-release-jannero-pargo/

Hope he finds a home somewhere, I liked his game. Knee surgery and athletes just don't mix...

OK, settling in to watch the meat.

GO LAKERS!!!!!

@CyberCosmiX, Get well soon my brother!

Edwin - I think you make a great point that the Lakers should see themselves as a brand and know that they are part of the show. On one hand, Kobe is saying he wanted to at least play a few minutes because they wanted to see him, but not at the expense of getting more injured. As much as the NBA wants to showcase their teams for an international audience, I think doing it for a pre-season platform is a little too much. They should do it during the regular season. Now coaches may balk at the travel grind and how that would be an even bigger challenge. But it should be something where 8 teams go to one location and are stationed there for a week. Therefore, it's a true showcase and you won't have teams rushing to get in and out and they'll be able to get acquainted with the area.

MM

I agree on concern over handling the "Meat" (Wade goes out with a hamstring) being concern # 1, however... C'mon guys you gotta go with Biggie's flow.

Pac crushes in almost every category. There is no debate.

Biggie was the better rapper, but 2Pac was the James Dean of the 90's, living his art until his death. 2Pac also made eerie predictions about his own death and was multi-talented. I think he would have moved on into acting if he was alive today, since he studied at Juliard in NYC.

Hey bosssirman . how was it? also check this thing out . http://sportscomplainer.com my sports manag. prof. told me about it. think its new. ..tom..

Here's my two cents. I prefer Biggie over 2Pac. I always say 2Pac is the better rapper I guess simply because of his higher volume and different stories. But I like Biggie's voice more and actually enjoyed listening to his albums more, although the volume compared to Shakur's.....

This must be one of the most polarized comparisons in the history of anything. Someone made a good observation that 2Pac had more positive things to say in his music. Biggie talked a lot of violent nonsense, but it sure as hell was great to hear. Listening to Big was like playing GTA as opposed to the cleaner, more sensible metal gear solid (for the gamers). It's very hard to make a choice, they were both great (but biggie was just crazy with his content and delivery, that wins it for me in hiphop & videogames for that matter)!
