PRE-SEASON WE TALKING ABOUT PRE-SEASON!!!
First preseaon game and so it begins, Folks are complaining about no meaning Wins.
What does it matter if we won or loss, Nows not the time to show the opponent who’s boss
This is a time to get the Rooks in the Flow, So they will be ready for the Finals Show
Say we don’t play the rooks & win all of our Presason games, That would be a Freakin shame
Just like a 73 – 9 record does not mean a thing, if it does not result in winning a Ring
A preseason win means less than nothing at all, If the Rooks not ready to play basketball
This time is about getting the team to Jell, Not about a Freakin preseason win what the hell
Well that’s my lil rant for today, I believe we are still 2 time Champs of the NBA

Good morning,

LA fans were deprived of live TV coverage of the Lakers first pre-season game only because it was played in London at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Had it been played in the U.S., we wouldn't have had to wait eight hours.

Thursday, the Lakers play in Barcelona. Same issue. Let me declare that we need strong support for a new bandwagon: WAVE THE BLACKOUT RULE ON THURSDAY.

CBS (KCAL9's owner), Jeanie Buss, and David Stern can wave the rule if they want to. They just have to want to. We have to make them want to.

Only rabid fans that populate the Lakers blog will be watching, but we matter. It won't affect the prime time ratings whatsoever. Sign up. Speak up. Post. Tweet. Facebook. Make your feelings known.

Power to the people!

Rick - chest bump - finger point - POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!

Yeah - that sucked yesterday. And most likely it will suck again tomorrow....

*sigh*

Love it, Mamba!! And loved your profile. Didn't see it 'til yesterday. Nice to meet you!

I didn't care that we didn't win. I didn't care that Kobe didn't play. My whole thing was watching the rooks and our new guys play. Liked it that Barnes and Blake mostly hit their shots. Liked it that Ratliff was active. Liked it that they passed the ball. Fun seeing Shannon dunk, but dude - he needs to pass the ball right away instead of holding it for 5 seconds while he dribbles. Pass it Shannon, I promise it will come back to you!! Pass it and move, boy!

Can't wait for Thursday and the Barcelona game. Will Pau be conflicted?

Love my team!
GO LAKERS!!!

@LongTimeLakerLover, Thank you and thank you, LOL! appreciate the nice sentiments as well as your sentiments about the pre-season game. Thanks for alll you do for Lakers Nation as well.

Its good to hear that the sky isn't falling after one meaningless exhibition game.
I am somewhat concerned about Bynum's injury/surgery recovery, though.

The Lakers have arrived to my city today. I Think the game against Barça will be amazing. The NBA champion vs. FIBa champion. In this moment, Barça is better team. I hope J.C. Navarro can score 30 or more points.

Congratulations from Barcelona.

Well folks headed out for work today so I won't be around till late afternoon. Just wanted to stop by and tell everyone good morning, and that I just found out I'll be going to the Portland game on Nov. 7. My first ever live Laker game YEAH BABY! WOO HOO!

And do you know why this good thing happened? Because you kept being Troy B! Now I hope this wonderful sign will convince you to continue as Troy B! WOO HOO!!!!

Staples 24,

Enjoyed the posts on the Spurs and T Wolves.

Trey Johnson is a 6'5 well built PG. Every Lakers Coaches must be wanting to keep him in the roster. Should Mitch keep him and carry 15 players going into the season?

LIVE TV UPDATE FOR THURSDAY!!!! . . .

Yes, many of us were justifiably upset with the unexpected blackout on NBA TV of the game in London. That was a very, very cruel trick. I felt like Charlie Brown when he reaches in his trick-or-treat back for candy and discovers... a lump of coal. BUMMER!!

Yes, many of us are justifiably upset enough to start our own "TeaV Party" Movement to stop this from happening again. MM summed it up all too well in his words in previous thread on Five things taken from first game.

BUT, I have GOOD NEWS!!!! Here is a direct quote from the Official LA Lakers website.

"The game in Barcelona will be shown nationally live by ESPN2."

So hold off on the signs and placards, the march on KCAL headquarters and threats on Darth Stern (yes, JUSTA, I am talking to you!!!!).

THURSDAY... in Barcelona... LIVE ON ESPN2.

Of course, now many of us must face-off with our contempt for the Miami Heat Propoganda Machine of ESPN. Perhaps we can share with one another what techniques might be best for soothing the conscience while stooping this low for a few hours of preseason basketball?

Mike

Laker Mike,

Thanks for the optimistic update on Thursday's TV coverage. I'll still have to see it to believe it, as ESPN coverage has been blacked out in the LA area for other reasons in the past. NBA-TV had a national telecast on Monday, too, but it was indeed blacked out here.

I'm not ready to count my chickens, just yet.

It seems that the Jazz have been hit by the "Lakers are our rival" delusion that affects the entire league. EVERYONE seems to think that we're their rival.
-
The Jazz aren't our rival.
-
What do we play for? RINGS!!!
-
Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.
-
GO LAKERS!!!

@Ricky;

Hey Spaniard - what's happening. Enjoy the rumble in Barcelona.

Nice game yesterday. The lakers kept it close for a half, and the fans got what they wanted to see. The Lakers fans were interested in seeing how the new players would mesh with this team. There were some nice surprises, and there's some work to be done.
The Wolves fans should be happy, I believe that their team will be vastly improved from last year. Beasly may prove to be a steal if he keeps it up.
GO LAKERS!

Interesting to see how the Lakers PGs will match up agaisnt Ricky Rubio on Thursday. Rubio may be too quick for Fisher, and Blake might be a better match up against Rubio. And how about Trey Johnson? I hope he will have a chance to play against Rubio.

the team has nothing to prove during pre-season. individually, it means more to those trying to make the team. kobe's just checking out his knee. pau is just working his way loose. L.O. looks like he's going to try and kick it up a notch. DFish always comes back in shape and will be effective with limited minutes. blake has taken a lot of pressure off of the "fish." once again, the only let down in all of this is bynum. if you've noticed, it takes him several months to warm up and then the team gets an a great month out of him before he breaks down. he comes back in december, just gets warmed up before the all-star break and will probably break down again before the playoffs. this is not going to be an easy season for the lakers. just keepin' it real.

GO LAKERS & IN BUSS WE TRUST!!

RICK . . .

Big gulp here... my gut is telling my you have a good point. Doggone it@!

Mike

So upset I couldn't even use my personal pronouns correctly!!!!! Should be, "...my gut is telling ME..."

Mike

LakerMike - are you talkin to me? ARE YOU TALKIN TO ME??? LOL!

That's great news - even though I'll be stuck at work and still have to watch the replay.... *sigh* This work thingy is really interfering with my Lakerholism. It must stop. THE HORROR.

My best suggestion for soothing your conscience is simple - use BSPN for what you need it for and then dump it fast like that ugly guy/chick you dated on a dare. Quick and painless.

Is that mean? Yeah, but who cares? It's BSNP and these are our beloved Lakers.

Caveat: I have I never done that dating on a dare thing (either side - dater or datee) and I don't recommend any one of you do it. It's not right. These are people, people. Be nice.

Exception: trolls. You can do whatever you want to them.

Any bandwagon Rick F. starts - I am riding shotgun! POWER to the Laker peeps!

And now that I am back in SF - maybe I will get the live national tv feed. Yahoo! I was so bummed yesterday when I ventured out in the LA rain to ESPN Zone and NO LAKER game...

Cheers - PLG

Theo, Steve and Matt the new arrivals brings new thirsty blood for a Championship. That I like so much!

Caracter brings youth, power and toughness inside.

Best summer for Mitch Kupchuck ever.

@T_Sensei/Art - thanks for the game breakdown.

@Staples - thanks for the Spurs link. I gotta give them credit for taking care of RJ...when they could've low balled him after he opted out.

@Staples/Sensei - You guys gave contrasting views on Trey
Johnson's game. Sensei you described him as a waterbug and Staples described him more like a Billups...which is it???

@Psyched - I agree with you & Rick that it should be broadcast live.

Caracter 58th pick is already better than Kwame Brown 1st pick, unbelievable! I bet you even MIKE T will like DC, he has got every aspect Mike T liked about Kwame and then some, like hands and use of his strength.

Ricky,

Which team are you going to root for? Barça or "Pau" and "Gasol"s Lakers?

@Lew - you were on a roll earlier...FYI lyrics to Papa was a Rolling Stone should say....All he left us "alone"...instead of "a loan" cause Papa def didn't leave any loot behind...lol. (I'm sure it was just a typo).

FYI...this would be my song for Shaq...

@JR - agree on Mr. Withers. Although Club Noveau did at least bring a different vibe and introduce a whole new audience to a great song.

Like any of us here actually care about Hollinger's opinion. Come on Medina, get with the program.

@LRob: For the paper champs, I submit the following pearls of wisdom from Stevie Wonder's Grammy winning 1974 "Fulfillingness First Finale" album:

We are amazed but not amused by all the things you say that you'll do.
Though much concerned but not involved in DECISIONS that are made by you.
But we are sick and tired of hearing your song.
Tellin' how you are gonna change right from wrong.
But if you really wanna hear our views:
YOU HAVEN'T DONE NOTHIN!

Lakers Blog join along with me & sing...DOOOO DE WOP!

It looks like the rotation will be Gasol-Ratliff (C) and Odom-Caracter (PF) during Bynum's absence. I just hope PJ will have Ratliff and Caracter play enough so Gasol and Odom won't have to play too much once the season starts.

Who really cares if we win any "practice" games? I mean, we're talking "practice," not a real game, "practice!"

Hey LRob,

I don't know if Trey J was like Billups or a waterbug but I liked what I saw.
I wish now I had recorded the game so I could go back and watch again so my faulty memory might be more accurate but I remember saying to my self, self, he looks good. He seemed to be playing under control, confident, aware and hit some nice shots. He seems to have some speed also. Had a couple of assists and a steal and only one turnover, but he only played just under 13 minutes.
I hope he gets more time on Thursday.
The thing is, I can't see how he breaks into the guard rotation especially with how Phil is with rookies, unless maybe they do trade Sasha and that opens a spot. Maybe the put him in the D league for a while.
He reminds me of someone but I can't remember who that is yet. Isn't that a big help :)

You think tape delay is bad, here in San Luis Obispo County Charter won't carry KCAL in HD!!! Standard def only. I request it every year and every year am told they are working it. BS. They are bankrupt and don't want to pay for it. Sucks. Lakers in standard def, it is so hard to watch.

@Staples24- thanks for the Spurs inside info. I have much respect for Pop after reading this. It's no wonder the Spurs are considered such a classy and professional franchise. I would love to hear more similar rhetoric from coaches to players. I'm so tired of hearing about how babied some of these players have been all throughout their careers and enjoy finding out about those who don't succumb to this nonsense.

I, as well as Phil, don't care about preseason wins, but just for fun, does anyone know what Phil's win loss, preseason record is for his career ?

** REPOST**

Otis - I was away this weekend but just read your profile. Really good stuff.

You are really funny and I will always enjoy your caustic, greenie tolerant, shaq loving manner.

Cheers - PLG!

Art - Thanks for your follow up. Actually I did tape the game, but didn't watch it yet. I'll skim it and let you know what I think of Trey.

Steve - LOL I'm with the program. My philosophy is to have links for all things Lakers, whether you like them or not. But I want to make all stories easily available.

MM

Hey guys we got a new post up. I hope you enjoy it

Like some romantic movie, I hope when we enter the court in Barcelona, eyes will meet and Ricky Rubio and the Lakers will suddenly realize that their in love and destined for a long and successful marriage. Hurry though, so you can share at least one championship creating assists for the Black Mamba. For all you complaining free loaders, the games are shown on the NBA TV channel, at least up here in SF cable stations. For the Times reporter, this is only the first exhibition of a very long season, save the grim, chicken little attitude for a more appropriate time and place. One thing we know from watching the local Warriors have to play D League call ups, is that they are well coached and up to speed with fundamentals and game awareness. The were better coached than the regular GS players. How would that sound for some future contending Laker team, the backcourt of Trey and Ricky?

@PLG;

That was a nice thing to say. As I said earlier, it will be plenty hard to remain caustic now that the veil has been lifted on the real me, but I will always be somewhat of a 'greenie lover" but hating them when they are on the floor with the Forum blue & gold gang.

LRob: Why in the world did you pick Count Basie out of a world full of music?

Considering that Rambis has some of PJ's philosophy in mind, if the T-Wolves were not coming off such a horrible season, that game might have ended up being a standoff, with both teams trying NOT to win....however, the T-Wolves don't have the luxury, they need to instill the thought that winning is always possible.
