Lakers keep practicing; Kobe Bryant still not doing much
While the rest of the Lakers continued to practice during the fifth day of training camp, Kobe Bryant stood on the sidelines and watched yet again.
Bryant and Lakers center Andrew Bynum are recovering from surgeries to their right knees.
Bryant practiced some Monday night, but has done little else since then.
Bynum has not practiced, but he has done some flat-foot shooting.
The Lakers will play their first exhibition game Monday in London against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
When asked if Bryant would play in London on Monday or in Barcelona, Spain, when the Lakers play Regal FC Barcelona Oct. 7, Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said:
"That's still to be determined. Right now, he's had only one practice live and just short."
Jackson knows that the fans in London and Spain want to see Bryant play, but rest might be better for Bryant.
"Yes, you want the fans that have paid -- I was going to say dollars, but it's not dollars -- to have an opportunity to see remarkable players," Jackson said. "But if he's not well enough to do so, obviously we won't do that."

@DJ… Concerts give life to some of the craziest stories. I remember Mrs. LakerTom and I going to an Elvis Costello concert and he played a couple of songs from the Beatles. I told her basketball season was finally here and Kenny just cashed my retainer check so I no longer have to fend off the Bynum Bashers by myself. Of course, the Bynum Bashers have counsel too. Only problem is that is pro bono legal aid.
