3 name proposals for Lamar Odom's fragrance

6a00d8341c506253ef01348587930f970c-320wi

For those Laker fans wishing for any trickle of news to come out, you're in luck! The New York Post's Rosemary Black cited WWD.com, a website devoted to fashion news, as reporting that Lamar Odom and wife Khloe Kardashian will launch a fragrance with a unisex scent in February.

"The new scent may be named "Unbreakable," Khloe Kardashian told WWD," Black wrote, "though she added, "Baby, I dunno, we're still working on it."

The anticipation is killing us all. Upon hearing the news, Ball Don't Lie's Trey Kerby wrote: "I don't know about you, but this is the most excited I've been for an NBA fragrance since the now-defunct Gheorge Muresan Cologne. For years upon years, we've all been wanting to smell like an NBA player who isn't the best player ever while also smelling like a marginal reality television star. This is great news. The fact that there's neither or a name nor a fragrance picked out is even more exciting."

For now all we can do is play the waiting game. And if "Unbreakable," doesn't make the cutting room floor, maybe these ideas will.

1. ReaLO -- It's a take on Odom's Twitter name -- RealLamarOdom -- and it's in reference to Khloe and L.O. being reality T.V. stars.

2. Lucky -- Surely your significant other will feel lucky being close to you while wearing this scent. It's also what then-Phoenix forward Amare Stoudemire accused Odom of being after he scored a double double in Game 1 of the 2010 Western Conference Finals.

3. D-A-S-H -- It's simple marketing. Odom and Khloe and Kim Kardashian co-own D-A-S-H, so naming their fragrance line after their clothing store is a no-brainer. Plus, a simple dash of the fragrance is all you need to get your day started right.

You've got to be kidding......when should we expect it! How about KLO.

Unbreakable is an ok name, as long as the bottle it's in really is.
I can see now people trying trying to test the name by throwing the bottle onto the floor or against a wall after they have used most of it up, then requesting a refund because it isn't.

Khlamar Odor

*Stupid I know... but I like to play along.*

@HOBBITMAGE… “Your failure to read the archives means that you are unaware of LakerTom calling people names & starting fights. "Tweedle dee, Tweedle dum, Bynum Basher, Bynum Hater, Bynum Baiter"
~
Great examples of “fighting” words that justify your calling me and other bloggers “Bynum butt sniffers” or making remarks about “the porn movie starring LakerTom & Andrew Bynum?” Be better than that.

TOM

Oh my.

We have officially reached the dregs of Summer if we are pulling in the Kardashians to talk about the Lakers.

I may take a vacation like FAITH does and just come back when the Lakers start pre-season.

This stuff is killing me....

PLG

Perhaps name it Unpredictable.

You never really know how its going to smell on you and don't know how others may react. Sometimes it will smell awesome and sometimes it won't smell at all.

wow, Rudy Fernandez is ditching the thing...
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/post/Blazers-Fernandez-ditching-NBA?urn=nba-263523
He's not bad, so why he can't get a team to play?
Mitch? Are you there?

i would have called the perfume "OBNOXIOUS"...

"Tweedle dee, Tweedle dum, Bynum Basher, Bynum Hater, Bynum Baiter"

Hobbitmage is a Bynum closet lover but does not want to hurt Kobe's feelings in admitting his love for the beast in public..

Hey MM,

Maybe the next thread could be about the Blake's search for a nanny, and if they have one, maybe a little background into her credentials.

Or...

Who did Pau Gasol use to install his Home Entertainment System. (a nice little plug for my buddy AJ)

Justa more important info we could be brushed up on...

LakerTom,

Why? You've made some sort of assumption that your morals should be my
morals. That I should accept your name calling and should use the same
sort of names that you use. Why?

I'm not you. I wasn't you. I will never be you. Quite frankly, I have no
desire to be you.

You're not better than me. You're just different. To everyone who has been
civil to me, I have been civil in return. You're the only one, in recent
memory, who has made a conscious effort to not be civil. You have been
publicly called out on this behavior a number of times by a few different
bloggers, not just myself.

So. You say tweedle dee, I say pinhead. If you don't like it, walk.

Now, you can chose to be civil and say:

KB Blitz & Hobbitmage & others,

I apologize for calling you names when you did not start that behavior.
In light of world peace or peas, I'm sorry for doing that and will never
call you names again.

LakerTom

If you say that, I will say: "Fine. Let's let bygones be bygones."

In the past, you have chosen not to do this and continued with your name
calling. So, what's it going to be? A handshake or an elbow to the jaw?
I'm coolio either way.

Your call sport. It always has been. And the archives of the blog will back
me up on this.

Since it's Lamar, How about " Essence of Gummy bears".

basketball themed could be "The smell of Three peat" " one on one" or my favorite "Fragrant Foul"

Where are the breaking news?

@KMVP… LOL. Listen, I appreciate your fighting the good fight but you should fully realize by now how frustrating, hopeless, and useless it is to get into long exchanges with some bloggers about Andrew Bynum. Such dialogs inevitably end up disintegrating into personal insults just like this one did thanks to Hobbit.

COLD WAR IN PROGRESS, WORLD WAR 3 IN THE MAKING:

Wars start in the head, then it escalates amongst comrades (group of like minded), then pretty soon the entire nation is at it.

Wrote LakerTom: "Tweedle dee, Tweedle dum, Bynum Basher, Bynum Hater, Bynum Baiter"

Wrote Hobbitmage: I'm not you. I wasn't you. I will never be you. Quite frankly, I have no desire to be you.

And wars will continue to rage as long as the mind has control over the heart, history will continue t repeat and humans never learn from it.

MM,

Very funny, very funny. Cologne? I mean, really! Oops, I mean really cologne is good, right? Just don't call it, "Driven Black," ha, ha. That's already taken. Cologne is good!

FCM - did you check your sources on this? Are you sure it's name proposals for cologne and not something else?

PLG

@KMVP… LOL. Sorry Tom, it's just too much fun! When I get responses to my posts like the following post, how can I not keep my competitive juices flowing?

"Nice exchanges between blitz n kobemvp888... Almost like watchin 2 skilled boxers with similar styles in a classic duel exchanging rounds back and forth... lots of bobbin and weavin mixed in with lots of jabs.. But no knockout here... This ones definitely goin the distance

Looks like you met your match blitz. Not your ordinary run of the mill lakertom clone.. A wily bynum supporter very quick on his feet with some surprising pop.

So back to your corners gentlemen and let's keep it a nice clean fight

I thought we were talking about Lamar's new fragrance , not some mano e mano showdown between bloggers.

AT HIGH NOON.....

What started out as some verbal boxing has now become a WWE tag-team caged-deathmatch.

All that is missing is some cool pyrotechnics, a ladder and some folding chairs.

Something about perfumes and sweaty athletes leaves me cold. But here are my 3 ideas for a name for LO's perfume:

1) "L' Odor"
2) "Man Candy"
3) "No I am not the next Magic Johnson (or the next Scottiie Pippen for that matter) but I am a pretty good NBA player you might have heard of - don't you want to smell like me?"

It's a bit long, but I like #3. Who the hell thinks there is a mass market of men out there dying to smell like Lamar? And why is he spending 5 minutes on this rather than on, say, a legitimate jump shot, or driving to his right?

As of now, I promise none of my optimistic dreams of 2010/2011 will include an improved LO.

At least Derek Fisher isn't putting out a frangrance called Fish.

KobeMVP888:

YOU WROTE: MM, please issue this cat a stern warning or just ban him.

Response: You have to understand MM is a biased reporter because he would not ban posters that sing his praises. In fact he welcomes them back in spite of these posters who have used foul lingo and threatened others of physical harm. Go figure, not a big fan of MM but I tolerate him.

@KMVP… No problem if you want to continue but it’s just not a fair fight when you compare your basketball knowledge, analytical aptitude, and written ability to delineate logical sound conclusions to theirs. It’s more like a couple of naïve and backwood greenhorns who think they can win by bringing knives to a gunfight.

I did, but I hope to earn a much higher respect from you as the season progresses than putting me in the same league as an egomaniac like him. You see, using statistics to support jaded opinions goes only so far in a team sport where the reliance of teammates upon one another becomes paramount to their individual accomplishments.

Take for example these recent remarks by the hated Paul Pierce:

“You know it could come together right away for them, like it did when we brought our whole new team together, but it’s all about the sacrifice, it’s all about dropping the egos, and it’s all about communication,” he said. “It’s going to be hard, you know why? I like to call this barbershop talk, because you go to a barbershop and all you talk about is basketball and sports
and people are always saying, ‘What if Kevin, Ray, and Paul had gotten together when they were younger? They’d probably have four or five championships. But then you don’t take into (account) the fact that we were all in our primes, still trying to establish ourselves at the same time, which is what you’re seeing with Miami now. All of these guys are in their prime. Now, how much of your prime are you going to sacrifice? LeBron right now is an MVP-caliber player. Wade is also, too. And also Chris Bosh. Now, can these guys say for the rest of their careers it’s not about winning the MVP? It’s about sacrificing the individual numbers for a greater good, and that’s winning a championship. I think the great players make the adjustment. If it doesn’t work out (the first year), I think as time goes, they’ll figure it out.”

This goes directly to how Andrew Bynum has remained patient within the confines of Phil Jackson's system. JVG has said that Bynum would be a 20-10 player on almost any other team, and despite his lofty aspirations to be an all-star (which he will be), he remains patient, content and a team player. This process has not stunted his growth; to the contrary it has taught him the sacrifices that are necessary to be a champion. Contrast that with Jordan Farmar's me-first attitude. Let's see if Bosh can make these sacrifices because for that team to be successful, he will have to do a lot of the dirty work.

How about "KhlOdoMusk"?

Which thread? Here's my attitude:

D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.

Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Otter: Germans?

Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
[thinks hard]

Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
[runs out, alone; then returns]

Bluto: What the fuck happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer...
Otter: Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

Bluto: We're just the guys to do it.

D-Day: Let's do it.

Bluto: *Let's do it*!

I hate to post on a thread after some *(&# posts something stupid. Like using a toilet somebody forgot to flush. Doesn't hurt the toilet, doesn't hurt me if i'm careful and I stand back, but it's still icky.

Trey Kirby definitely hitting the low hanging fruit. Good point, though. Not exactly ‘news’ in the sense of ‘anything happening.’ Possibly an effort to set some kind of record for ironic use of the word ‘news.’

Harsh but funny.

Tom Daniels- also very good.

KobeMVP,

You been sayin' some good stuff, but blew it with the JVG comments.
He is more or less an idiot, mostly more.
He also said the Heat are going to break the 33 game win streak and the 72 win season record, among other nonsense.
No credibility.
That one may come back to haunt you.

not sure why I put that there, the comment in question will be deleted, and everyone else will get offended. Never mind.

ok, my real thoughts. (not that great either. I think i'm having an off day. Sorry)

My fake blogger profile thing got stuck on the end of a thread, if anyone wants to read it, it’s at the end of well…some earlier thread. Wasn’t that great, I guess. Not sure why I brought it up. Still not gonna go back and delete bringing it up, though, so I guess that would be a bit of hypocrisy. I’m still talking about it….

Hobbitmage- you need to stop defending yourself with ‘yeah, but LakerTom said….’ That’s as much as I’m gonna say about that.

Edwin- Great Rushdie Quote. Pretty much how I feel about it, and a tribute to a great author.

Justanoah re Jon K’s comment- funny.

The Blazers could definitely get something better for Rudy F than Sasha. Heck, even if they don’t trade Rudy F, and he stays in Spain dodging bulls the whole year he might play as much as Sasha. They don’t really need expiring contracts, they have tons.

Peace- great vibe. My favorite Gandhi quote is probably apocryphal but I always liked (when asked what he thought about western civilization) ‘I think it would be a good thing.’

justa- (yes, you)- I noticed you bagging on Mark Cuban. I just had to add a slight note to his defense, since I’m still po’d a the hypocrisy of MLB denying him the chance to be any owner because of his competitiveness and personality, while giving endless BS tributes to George (Hey! I spent more money to lose more games than any coach ever until I finally won!) Steinbrenner; I’d hate to coach for Cuban, but he has done right by his players, and he has shown a lot of loyalty to guys like Dirk Nowitzki. Other than that, he’s pretty much an #$%@, but you could do worse for an NBA owner. Long comment for little point, sorry.

IT HAS BEEN A FREAKIN LONG COUPLE OF WEEKS

IT IS PROBABLY JUST GOING TO GO DOWNHILL FROM HERE

BUT ONE THING I KNOW; (I FEEL LIKE I AM WRITING BAD LEONARD COHEN LYRICS FOR SOME REASON)

funny stuff.

Do we need Ron Ron's therapist for an evaluation for the the blog fights? I understand she does a great job in resolving issues. I hope Lamar places just as much concern about his consistancy, like showing up for at least 50 games, as he is about naming some cologne.

You can't make this stuff up!

Found it. Reproduced here:

KobeMVP888,

Interesting ..... Let's go.

you wrote: Like who? Dwight Howard, the first overall pick in the 2004 draft? Yao? The first overall pick of the 2002 draft? Andrew Bogut? The first overall pick of the 2005 draft?

my response: Are you aware that LakerTom compared Bynum to Wilt &
Kareem? I suggested that you read the archives. Clearly, you didn't.
Would you like to compare Bynum to Yao? Feel free.

1st year 13.5/8 2nd year 17.5/9 It's obvious that Yao has better numbers.
One could easily suggest that Yao has more skill. It's hard to be decisive in
the argument because Bynum plays with Kobe and Yao doesn't. Bynum also
plays for Phil & Yao doesn't. So how do you account for the influence of
the other players and the coach when making a comparison b/n Yao &
Bynum?

re: all being forgiven with Bynum. You are missing the point. KB Blitz has
nothing against Bynum. KB Blitz has everything against the propaganda
machine which is making him out to be something that he isn't. That should
have been clear to you. However, *He* can speak for himself. Since LakerTom
often lumps me in with KB Blitz, I will speak for myself. I have nothing
against Bynum. I have everything against his main cheerleader, LakerTom.

re: homosexual references & LakerTom & Bynum. I suggested that you read
the archives. You didn't. If you had you would have seen that this heated
conversation b/n LakerTom, KB Blitz & Myself has been going on for YEARS!
You would have also seen LakerTom repeatedly calling people names and
mis-representing their statements and in general being a jack-ass. Once again,
I suggest you read the archives to better understand the history before you
become a self-righteous prig.

you wrote: Bynum KNEW that the Lakers would not beat Boston without him on the floor and he was ABSOLUTELY right about that.

my response: This is pure speculation. It is this type of speculation that has
supported the entire stupid conversation.

you wrote: One thing this "slow developing center" has accomplished that the three aforementioned #1 overalls haven't is a championship ... make that TWO championships.

my response: See the earlier point about why he won the championships.
Your statement is logically flawed in that you imply *Bynum's* playing
on a championship team make him better than the other players. By that
reasoning Robert Horry is better than Charles Barkley and we know that to
be factually untrue.

you wrote: If you want to put your pal and me in a room and have a stat contest, which must include NBA history going back to the early 70's, I am happy to accept the challenge. This is NOT Major League Baseball, where statistics mean everything. There are no statistics for things like dissuading shot attempts, keeping players out of the lane or altering shots. Nor are there statistics for hockey assists which result when players like Bynum pass out of a double team. There is no way to quantify team defense either. One of the things that drives me crazy is when Lakers fans say that Derek Fisher hurts the team defensively. I watch nearly every possession of every game and attend one-third of the home Practice Games and about half the Real Season games and I come away scratching my head on this issue. Do you think Phil Jackson would trust having Fish out on the court in the NBA Finals if he hurt the team defensively?

my response: So I suggested to you earlier that you read the archives. If you
had read the archives you would have read that *I* said: There are lies,
damn lies & statistics. i.e. Stats don't mean everything. If you had paid
attention to what I wrote earlier today you should have understood the point.
Since you missed it, allow me to clarify: You're posting hyperbole as if it's
fact and ignore fact for the sake of your opinion. My suggestion to you was
to use stats to support your opinion and you'll get a different type of
conversation from KB Blitz. If's a free country and you don't have to do this.
However, if you actually want to have a reasonable conversation vs. to frothing
idiots going at it ... Back up your hyperbole with something objective.

You also wrote: If I was MM, I ban you for this. This is not the place for a scathe-off. Watch your words!

My response: If I were a judge and you were a lawyer presenting your case, I'd
send you back to law school for being unprepared. Your failure to read the
archives means that you are unaware of LakerTom calling people names &
starting fights. "Tweedle dee, Tweedle dum, Bynum Basher, Bynum Hater,
Bynum Baiter" When you run a blog, you are free to do whatever you want to.
Until then, in this pool we play by the these rules. The bottom line is that he's
acted like a cowardly jack*&^ over a lengthy period of time.

you wrote: I could go mano a mano with him any time should I so choose, but I would be lowering myself, ignoring my principles, and insulting my much deeper understanding of NBA basketball if I wasted my time doing that. NBA fans who get all wrapped up in individual statistics simply do NOT get it. Period. Talk to me about where the Lakers finished last season in blocked shots, opposing team fg%, steals, etc, and I'm all ears.

Then again, I already know that stuff and that helps lead me to MY strong opinions.

my response: My original post to you was simply ... Use the stats that you
have to make your argument & you would get a different conversation
from him. If you know all of this, then please break it down. Where did
the Lakers end in blocked shots and who blocked more ... Bynum or Pau?
What portion of the season did the majority of blocked shots actually
happen? Against what teams? If you've got game, then bring it! Otherwise,
you're just sellin' wolf tickets.

you wrote: Why don't you quit the name calling. You couldn't discern objective information from KB Blitz's opinions if you tried even if I threw a bunch of irrelevant individual stats at you anyway.

my response: Actually, I haven't called anyone besides LakerTom any names.
I wrote that your arguments aren't worth cow manure. Which they aren't.
If you're going to make a solid argument, then make the solid argument and
back it up with objective facts. Otherwise, you're just spewing hyperbole
like LakerTom, whom I have called names. Just as he has called me names.
Kindly stay out of my interactions with LakerTom or I'll beef with you too.
It's your call. Don't care either way.

you wrote: That's because like your partner in crime, you simply don't get it. I was at that game. Bynum's first quarter elevated the team's confidence. He made Dwight work hard and softened him up for Pau. What Drew did after the first quarter no longer mattered because he did EVERYTHING that his head coach asked of him and more .. playing at about 50%, no less. So how do you analyze things? STATISTICS!!! You take the stats and proceed to empty out the glass and see it half empty. Yipppeeee. zzzzzzz

my response: Glad you got to go to the game. I didn't have the $$ to attend.
That doesn't mean that I didn't watch the game. I've seen nothing to
support your statement as truth. In fact, I would argue that the Lakers were
winning the championship from the opening tip of the season. They came
out with purpose and focus. Pau did not play soft the entire season, which
is what made this season so frustrating. That's another conversation ...

You see Bynum's play as being critical to what happened. Maybe you're right
and maybe you're wrong. I see Kobe's attitude and play as being critical. He
won the Finals MVP. While neither of us can prove our positions, I have more
objective evidence on my side than you do. If you were to go and ask any
professional basketball player, past or present, I'm reasonably sure that they
would agree with my point. Would you like me to post links for you?

Regardless of my speculation or your speculation, this is what we know to
be true. Basketball professionals agree with me because of the accolades
that Kobe has received. We know that they don't agree with you because
of the lack of accolades for Bynum.

Now. Have we beaten this dead horse enough?

=====

Mr. Hobbitmage-

I stopped here:

"Once again, I suggest you read the archives to better understand the history before you become a self-righteous pig."

I have no need to filter through archives to read all about how KB Blitz's statistics support his self-serving conclusions. I have read enough from him and you to understand what I am dealing with. This isn't the first forum I have posted in and, believe me, the only thing that you and KB Blitz have in common with some of the exemplary Lakers fans who I have had enjoyable dialogues with over the years is your ability to write endless prose. The difference, of course, is that they don't come across as holier-than-thou know-it-alls like you and KB Blitz do. I don't "side" with Laker Tom on the Bynum issue; I have my own opinions that I have formed over time. In fact, the greatest blogger in the history of Lakers blogging, TrueFan1947 (may he rest in peace) DIFFERED with me on Bynum, but not for the same childish reasons spewed by you and your partner. His reasons had NOTHING to do with statistics but, before he died, he withdrew his criticisms of Bynum because he finally saw out of the kid what he wanted to see and that was the heart of a warrior! As opposed to narcissistic people like KB Blitz and you, he was old enough and mature enough to understand when he was "proved wrong" and more than that, he was BIG enough to apologize for any disparaging remarks that he may have lobbed at young Andrew.

I get the feeling that both of you actually root for Drew to get injured again just to prove yourselves right. If you think for one minute that I believe that either you or KB wouldn't jump for joy if Bynum got traded or injured, you're fooling yourselves. You know you would because your egos are too immense for that. You pray for the day when you can say: "I told you so." You don't like Bynum or wish him success at all. So if I refer to you and/or KB someday as The Cellophane Brothers, you'll know why.

LakerSunshine- no psychiatrist is that good. Individually and on their own, Blitz, Tom and Mage all are good writers and smart people, but after about five lines of any of their (no doubt 'expert') debating with each other i'm going to just borrow a page from Zaira and tell them to go 'heal' themselves.

and KobeMVP wants to get on this merry go round?

KobeMVP- sorry, no way i'm reading all that. I didn't read it the first time. I doubt mage read it when he was writing it.

Good god, why couldn't I have been out having fun tonight, and trying to kill a few hours before drinking myself to sleep on some other night, like our night of 1000 comments or something?

This is obviously a junk thread.
That's ok, some good stuff often shows up during the junk times.
Wish I could stay and play but momma says I gotta come in now.
Look forward to seeing what the evening/night crew comes up with.
Play nice, no swearing, no hair pulling, umm, never mind.
Have at it.

Lamar has won a couple of rings now, hasn't he? So how about "Eau de Two"?

Ok, I've been sitting here working on this for like half an hour now, working it over and over, thinking about it, pondering it, reacting, and now i've just got to say it;

I don't care if I save $.00002 per yard, off brand minty scented dental floss is just not worth it. I'm gonna throw all this crap out and buy some of the real stuff.

KobeMVP,

You been sayin' some good stuff, but blew it with the JVG comments.
He is more or less an idiot, mostly more.
He also said the Heat are going to break the 33 game win streak and the 72 win season record, among other nonsense.
No credibility.
That one may come back to haunt you.

=====

I agree with you about JVG, but he has actually come a long way about his attitudes toward the Lakers, Kobe and Bynum. Of course his comments about the Heat were absurd, but don't you think he has a separate agenda with that comment given that his brother coaches an elite team in the same conference?

Among other things, over the past few seasons he has put Kobe Bryant in the same conversation with Michael Jordan, admitting that if you had asked him that 4-5 years ago he would tell you that you're crazy. He also made this comment about great point guards during the 2009 Finals: "You don't need a great point guard to win a championship, you need great players."

I was the biggest JVG Hater on the planet (I used to call him Jeff Van C*nty) and, since the 2009 Finals (when the league office must have told him to quit hating on the Lakers so much), he has softened his stance and now shows a lot more respect toward the Lakers. The guy I can't stand now is Mike Breen. Fortunately, I was able to avoid Breen, JVG and Mark Jackson because I attended Games 2, 6 and 7, so you heard more than I did.

Do you disagree that Bynum would be 20-10 on most other teams? I agree with that statement. He's already at 15 and 8 with Gasol and LO at his side sharing the rebounding and scoring.

@KMVP… “I did, but I hope to earn a much higher respect from you as the season progresses than putting me in the same league as an egomaniac like him. You see, using statistics to support jaded opinions goes only so far in a team sport where the reliance of teammates upon one another becomes paramount to their individual accomplishments.” You’ve already shown yourself to understand the team dynamic and Bynum’s value better than your distracters in my opinion and I am sure most of the bloggers who know and understand the game.

came across an old LA Times Lakers Blog during the start of the 05-06 season. none of the bloggers then are posting now & vice versa - unless handles were changed, but does anybody do that?

keeping in mind w/ the time, interesting pts. 5 yrs ago:

- split views on Kobe being the best player in the league, falling behind players like - Duncan, Shaq, KG, TMac, LeBron, Wade

- Bynum debate (the beginnings)

- hoping for Lamar to have a bigger impact, consistency.

- lucky to have found Smush Parker

- Lakers strategy: to bide their time, clear cap space, and in two years be in a place to really improve

and KobeMVP wants to get on this merry go round?

phred-

I just don't like watching two thugs jumping the good guy especially when they're coming at him with a whole lot of nothing. From everything I've read, they distort and twist everything that Tom says, and then nitpick and take things out of context. Hell, The Cellophane Brothers have already done it to me! I notice how Hobbitmage is making a shallow effort to "give me the benefit of the doubt," but I saw right through that pseudo-niceness. As if I need his support and approval for anything anyway. ewww

Anyway, I think you'll find that I am well versed on anything Lakers and NBA related, from both a contemporary and historical perspective (statistically and otherwise), and I will hop off the Merry-Go-Round and look forward to engaging in Lakers talk, especially when the season starts!

DING DING DING:

AND NOW, introducing the fighter in the red corner, wearing gold trunks with purple trim. He tipped the scales at 112 pounds. He hails from Northern California, and has a life long dream of starring in a porno with the Beast. He's fighting for Bynum to be the best center in the world, and become the #1 option over Gasol and Kobe. He is winless in three consecutive years in his predictions about Bynum turning into the Beast, but this might be the year. When it comes to his Laker predictions, he has a record of 3 wins and 58 losses, with 43 losses coming by way of knockout. Let's give it up for ..... LAKER TOOOOOOMMMMM.

And his opponent sitting across the ring in the blue corner. He has never lost a fight (in his own mind), and has outlasted all challengers by posting twice as often, and making his posts twice as long. If he's backed up against the corner, he will scratch and claw his way out. If that doesn't work, he will bring out his secret deadly weapon - biased statistics. Let's give it up for ...... KBLIIIIIIIIIIITZZZZZ.

And now for the challenger in the gold corner. He is making his Laker Blog fighting debut. He hails from the Laker Tom Bynum Loving Academy. Let's give it up for KOBEMVEEEPEEE88.

Gentleman, let's make this a clean fight. No low blows or you will be deducted a point.

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEE!

@OLD HIPPY… LOL. By the way, love Neil Young and Southern Man is one of his best ever. From one old hippy to another, thanks for the link. And if you have ever driven through the deep south, it is unreal.

KobeMVP,

I totally agree that Bynum would be a 20/10 guy on most other teams.

I have participated in the hobbit/blitz debates in the past, but am no longer interested in doing so.
Good luck with that.

phred,

You are a funny, funny, funny guy.

=======================

That's all folks.

@LAKER REFEREE… “He hails from Northern California, and has a life long dream of starring in a porno with the Beast.” I find that extremely offensive remark and not in the least funny. At least have the class to use your real blog name instead of hiding behind a one-time name while you slur people. You have no class.

I'm sorry Folks but this whole Freakin Blog has lost it's mind.
Time for a time-out. Go out smell the roses. Take your kids out
for a nature walk. Go for a walk with your spouse and act like teens.
But GOD##@#^&&*!!!! This ISH has to stop!!!!!!! Carry On!

So let me make sure I got this straight...

Camp A's stance on the Bynum debate is: He is Great and can be the Greatest.

Camp B's stance is: He's Good and needs to get Better.

So you both LIKE him, but have differing interpretations on the level of impact he has on the team.

Wow, very similar to how religious wars start.

Good luck with that.

MVP888- nah, take it from me, ol LakerPangloss (Tom) can take it. But they are all nice guys, they can be interesting, and they all know more about basketball than at least 80% of the people on here. (subtract anything to do with Bynum, natch) they just lose it when they talk about each other. Some kind of residual sibling infighting thing or something. And they are so paranoid about each other gaining any ground they will refuse to ever admit they were wrong about anything.

I like to encourage them to ignore each other and talk about other stuff.

Don't get me wrong, you obviously know your stuff, but if you argue endlessly on here you are bound to say something stupid and it's better to be able to just say 'whoops!' and move on.

just my advice. worth what it cost.

A HANDY DANDY CATCHPHRASE IS ALSO GOOD FOR CYA

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE LOVE

GO LAKERS!

I feel like MBenga. This is definitely garbage time. Time to crank up old arguments and controversies for lack of anything better to do.

Look, guys, best not to get into bad habits. Just run the offense.

halosant- exactly.

...and even here on the old blog,
too many talented but inconsistent players "launching a fragrance"...

wait a minute, we have art, mamba (or some facsimile thereof), halos, rick and lakertom all posting here and we are lacking for a good conversation? what is wrong here?

i post this utterly ironically, cause I don't know what the **@# it is, but it came up when i googled it;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjNJmwwf7QA

i think Green Day really has nailed being a modern version of 'the Clash'

great sound, great music, very stupid content delivered very earnestly.

oh, and noah. hey noah.

..hey phred.

Earlier, I was singing "Dance Me to the End of Love" --inwardly, and it occurred to me that the line "let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone" is as good as anything in the Old Testament.. would have liked to hear that in one of the epistles..

...gospels, I mean..

noah- yeah, but the guys who wrote the old testament didn't get to listen to leonard, and he got to read all their stuff, so of course it's better.

...gospels, I mean.. Posted by: noah | August 19, 2010 at 05:16 PM

NOAHHHHHHH! 10 Hail Mary's for you! Now go and sin no more!

and he got to write about sex, which totally got cut out of the gospels sometime in the fourth century...ok, I probably shouldn't discuss biblical interpretation here on the blog, but apparently nobody is going to read it anyway....

Psycho Drama Queen sighting....

How about Disparais, based on the French word for disappear?

...hey ALL THAT IS

Howzit goin? Just exercising a little free will.. sheesh.

laker referee,

Beyond hilarious ... lakertom, bynum really needs to write u a pay check ... the hits u take 4 this guy

Noah that's what you said about the Rabbits!

ok, since you are here, and i am here, and I am keeping myself entertained with the 'american graffitti' soundtrack on youtube rick linked too,

'old hippy'

ALL THAT etc;

do you guys have real blog names? are you the same guy? are you that afraid of Larry? what's the deal?

holy crap, taliq, is that you? where you been?

...but following that logic phred --assumes we're evolving in some way..

noah- we are?

Alright,

Bynum, Bynum, Bynum......if he is that great why does he sit on the bench at the end of games when they are in the balance? Is he sacrificing or does PJ think Pau and Lamar are better decision makers and have higher BB IQ's.

On the other hand, the only Finals series we lost out of the three was when Bynum did not play at all, and the Lakers were labeled as soft against a more physical Celtics team. Gasol was the main target of that criticism. Haven't lost a championship series since.

If you think that there is another (young) center that can make the Lakers as good or better than Bynum, that was drafted at 10 or below (meaning lower draft pick) who would you pick. Here's a few.

a) Brooke Lopez
b) Marc Gasol
c) Andris Biedrins
d) Roy Hibbert
e) Javale McGee
f) Spencer Hawes

four degrees of youtube separation from Rick's link...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsrY440-jpA&feature=related

wait, nobody click on that link, it's freaking terrible. let's move along a bit further here....

Wow, this Lakers blog is WHACK, all the bloggers are fighting each other.

phred,

Regarding Green Day, you hit it right on the nose. As a matter of fact I believe I read in a Rolling Stones interview of the band where they even reference 'the Clash' as being one of their biggest influences.

Now I don't like all of Green Day's music but there are select tracks that I do enjoy. American Idiot, When I Come Around, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), Longview, Blvd of Broken Dreams...

My favorite song is Basket Case. Although it's been said that this song is about Billie Joe's "anxiety", most see it for what it's really about: The perspective of a meth addict. The lyrics are inundated with meth addict slang and terminology. I find it interesting in that he bears his soul in this song like Anthony Keidis (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) does in his song about Heroin use in 'Under the Bridge' <---which by the way is a beautiful song.

phred --I don't think so.. I was just playing out the idea that the gospels would have improved had the disciples been listening to leonard cohen..

holy crap, does everybody have to butcher 'unchained melody?'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgrvDSwH7Oo&feature=related

The ole Blog's a-rolling along.

@LakerTom - Depends on the knives and how quick/good you are with them. I'm thinking Kain from Kung Fu style.

For realsies though, I'm expecting 'Drew to move up in the heirarchy of the offense. We all know Kobe's the main man with Gasol following. After that it gets a bit murky. I'd like us to really focus on establishing a better inside-out game this season with little to no 3-pointers shot in transition or the first few seconds of the shot clock. Getting the ball into Gasol and Bynum has proven to be our best offensive option as they both force the dfense to collapse on them. This opens up our perimeter game.

@ Phred - When someone asks you if you're a god, you say...

@Laker Referee - Yup, no class, dawg. But that's to be expected where one can just throw up all over everyone and then sidle off into the shadows, as one can in our virtual chat place here on LAT Laker Blog.

Man...when's preseason start? Oh yeah, October 4th. Cool.

Wow, this Lakers blog is WHACK, all the bloggers are fighting each other.

That's fun, I got my popcorn here and having a great time!!!!

noah- I know what you meant. it is arguable by most biological standards of evolution that humans are not evolving as a species, but learning and teaching has continually built upon previous achievements. Of course, humans can be perfectly happy never learning anything.

ok, this is a good one;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrK5u5W8afc&feature=related

hey Mamb.. I mean ALL THAT IS

Rabbits don't seem to be the problem. The eat some grass and twitch their noses.
It's people that are fouling up the place. WAY too much begetting --I think that's on you..

Hey Phoenix,

There's ONLY one one type of bird that's good on fire... and that's the chicken on my grill.

So why don't you scurry away, you can't handle what's going on here.
