It's official: Shaq is a Celtic

O'neal_300 As expected, the Boston Celtics announced the signing of free agent center Shaquille O'Neal on Wednesday.

"I am honored to be joining the Celtics," O'Neal said. "I have played against Paul, Ray, Kevin, Rajon, and Jermaine for many years and it will be great to be able to call them my teammates. I cannot wait to get to Boston to get started in pursuit of another championship."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

O'Neal won three NBA titles with the Lakers and one with the Miami Heat and has also played for the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers.

O'Neal was named the league MVP as a member of the Lakers in 2000. He is the fifth leading scorer in NBA history (28,255 points) and is 14th on the all-time rebounds list (12,921). He averaged 12 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots in 53 games during his only season with the Cavaliers last year.

"It is not every day that you can add a player of Shaquille's caliber to your team," Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said. "His past experience speaks for itself and we believe that he is a great fit for our roster."

I only worry about the Lakers.

Let's just stick to good ole wholesome sports hate. Sports hate works the same way as political and religious hate, except that it is fun, and the repercussions are minimal.

AMEN to that brother!!!

He will make a small contribution, but Shaq has fallen off considerably. This is similar to the Phoenix Suns signing, although his team could actually go to the Finals. I look for him to miss 20-30 games, and average Kendrick Perkins-like numbers, but not defend the screen and roll as well as Perkins does.

you laker fans are lucky that gasol took out perks - wont work next year now that we also have the BIG DIESEL never the less see you all in July!

Deep down Shaq has a Big heart...We all know about him buying new police cars to replace the ones crazed fans burned during the celebration of winning the finals...And it is widely known, he is very generous tipper, which I know is true, for a friend got a $100 tip from Shaq at the Starbucks she worked at in the Westside...And of course, Shaq's annual toy drive for X-mas in the inner city kids...he bought most of the toys himself...

My problem with Shaq is not his heart, but his Big Mouth and his Big Ego...this is why the Laker situation has come to this...and other teams he has left...

Now signing with the Celtics show another disrespect to the Lakers, which only true die hard fans can understand...

Overall, I think they will retire his jersey...but I like the idea of other players getting theirs retired first...and I would wait till he has been retired for at least 10 years, when he is just a memory, and not a celebrity, which he eats up...

"It's official: Shaq is a Celtic"

My eyes draped across that line and my gut was filled with the emotion of "You've gotta be fricken kidding me. Urgh."

GO LAKERS!!!

Dear Snaq - you're dead to me.

from Bryce Sherman at BleacherReport:

"Despite winning his last championship with the Miami Heat, I always envisioned Shaq’s number 34 jersey hanging in the rafters next to Chamberlain’s, West’s, Jabbar’s, Magic’s, and all the other Laker greats. His jersey should rightfully be retired with the most storied franchise in the NBA. After all, he won three straight championships, three Finals MVP trophies, and his only regular season MVP trophy all while wearing the purple and gold. In the 1999-2000 season Shaq became the only player in NBA history to win the regular season MVP award, the All-Star MVP award, and the Finals MVP award. He literally swept the MVP’s that year! On top of all that (as if that weren’t enough) he won the scoring title, was named to the All NBA First team, named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, and won his first NBA championship that year. Any player that has a season like that deserves to have his jersey retired for the team he played for while achieving those accolades. It doesn’t hurt that he followed that performance up with two more championships and two more Finals MVP trophies.

Despite all these accomplishments and the wonderful things he did for the Lakers franchise and the city of Los Angeles, if he were to play for Boston it would all be for naught. If Shaq-Fu were to finish out his career, or even play a single game, for the Boston Celtics there is absolutely no way I could handle having his jersey retired as a Laker. All else is forgivable, but defection to the Celtics is not. It’s the one unforgivable sin a Laker cannot commit and still expect absolution from the fans."

Here is a question...
Brian Shaw use to play for the Celtics...
Now if they offered him the Celtics coaching job when Doc leaves next year...
Do you think he should accept it...

My opinion is NO...any team but the Chowds...

LEWSTRS,

Shaq does seem to honestly like kids and cops.

He just doesn't care about us as fans.

GO LAKERS!!!

This is like Ariel Sharon becoming the new leader of Hamas. If Shaq has no loyalty at all for the team that made him then the Lakers should have no jersey retirement for him. What if.....the Lakers meet the Septics in the Finals and Shaq helps them beat us? Maybe burn his jersey instead of retiring it. Why wait? Derrick Caracter-#34

Maybe Shaq promised Pierce/KG/Allen/Rondo a ring...

Like he did to Lebron, Amare and Nash...lol

I wonder if the Cavs are going to retire LeGone's jersey? They should sign Adam Morrison and give him 23.

The Big Green Booger

So he's the Big Leper-Con now...

Stay tuned for the next episode of Shaq Vs. ...

This time it's against His Legacy as a Laker, and from what I hear he STOMPS ON IT pretty good.

NBA is now looking for a Heat/Laker Finals match-up or a Celtic/Laker Finals, but my prediction is it's gonna be a Bulls/Laker Finals.

SCREW THE CELTICS AND THOSE FAKE PAPER CHAMP WANNA BE CHUMPS MIAMI HEAT!!!! AND IN NO WAY NO HOW ARE YOU EVER GONNA STOP OUR QUEST TO 3-PEAT!!!!

REPOST

Shaquille O'Neal deserves to have his #34 hanging in the rafters of Staples. He was one of the greatest Laker centers of all-time. Without him there is *no way* Kobe is chasing title #6 this season, perhaps Kobe would have none at all.

For over 7 years Shaq deliglighted us with his wit (though barely audible most of the time), thrilled us with his power and made us cringe with his free throws. Jerry West knew he was the most unstoppable player in the NBA and all it took was for a young Kobe to add some maturity to his game and a certain coach to pace the side lines.

Shaq has given so much to the local LA community in terms of toy giveaways to the needy, appearances at schools and youth organizations, and donations to charities. Do he and Kobe get along? No. Could Shaq have been more mature in his leaving of the Lakers? Probably not, ever since he left Orlando he's been burning the bridge behind and moving forward. As a child who bounced around alot as a result of his military upbringing is that so shocking?

I will always hold Shaq the player in high regard, at one time I thought that he would retire a Laker, however, that was not meant to be. Since he left, I have never advocated his return to the team and would not do so in any capacity. But I don't think we should trample on the history of the team by not honoring one of it's best players to ever don the uniform.

Retire the number.

END REPOST

I still say retire the number, but not until he retires. Also, it's totally fine to hate on ANYONE wearing Celtic Green, but you HAVE to love them if they've ever been a Laker. Who doesn't love Brian Shaw of the Shaw-Shaq redemption? Or Rick Fox? Celtics at one point, but Lakers forever.

Maaaaaaan, can we get to Training Camp already? Baseball is sucking butt and I want to see this new team in action. I've assembled the same roster via EA Sports NBA Live 2007 (the last version I ever got), but it's just not the same. I'm 17-0 against Miami and we all know Miami would at least win ONE game against us, right guys?

Also, for those of you who have been around here for awhile I give you the return of...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMO8Pyi3UpY

Lewsters - yeah, Shaq has a big heart, nice guy. Me and my 2nd ex-wife used to run into him at Smitty's all the time and he'd always come over and say "hi" and chat. Then, when Shaq was with the Suns he came through Memphis and my 2nd ex-wife wanted to get an interview (she was doing magazine work there), and he totally remembered her and gave her his only interview of the night.

But boy can he put his over-sized foot in his mouth. It's the unprofessional things he's done that make him so toxic; his inability to handle anything involving his career. Was he a force with the Lake-Show? Completely. Going to the Septics... just makes the coming year sweeter for us. Celts, Miami, anyone - what do we care? We're the muther-tossin', dwarf-frickin', everlovin' Lakers. We LIVE for this stuff.

actually, i think he's kinda a good fit in Boston.

as i said though, i remember how great he was. my son had his picture on the wall. i loved the good times. the rest of the time, he hasn't been cool, not by a Laker fan's perspective anyway. for that, his number should go to another player, good bad or otherwise. imo. Shaq was the person who, as far as i could see, was the one who could've done the most to avoid trouble and the breakup of a winning team. instead, he was always at the center of the turmoil. Shaq's Lakers were always a soap opera, and Shaq was the diva soprano.

well, not much has really changed here in Lakerland with the Celtics signing the big thing. to be champion, you have to beat everyone regardless of how easy or tough it is.

Shaq is doing this for one reason and one reason only.....

He is sticking this to Kobe and Phil.

There will be no sunset for the Lakers.

As for Shaq jersey being retired. That's already been confirmed. Why don't you see anyone wearing the number 34?

Normally, when someone jersey is going to be retired, it's removed from the roster. Shaq has been gone for 6-7 years now and no one has wore 34.

That's normally the sign for retirement.

Wow, someone better bring out a can of Troll-B-Gone, it's gettin' thick in here. Septic Trolls (not the reputable, long-standing Sep Trolls, but these Johnny-Come-Lately to Green trolls) and even a Heat Troll spouting Celtic-isms. Shaq seems to propagate the weirdness.

As far as I'm concerned, right now the Celtics are the lesser of two evils -- Miami being #1. If Shaq can help stop the Heat in its tracks during the playoffs, more power to him.

J. Sweet,

"Without him (Shaq) there is *no way* Kobe is chasing title #6 this season, perhaps Kobe would have none at all."

It goes both ways. Without Kobe, Shaq might have zero rings as well. Without Shaq, perhaps Kobe would be going after #7, #8 or #9 this season? Who knows?

Here's what we do know. Shaq could not win with elite perimeter players in Penny Hardaway, Lebron and Nash, but was able to win with Kobe and Wade. That's a decent success rate. Kobe, on the other hand, has won MULTIPLE championships EVERY TIME he was paired up with an elite big man (Shaq and Gasol). Based on his 100% success rate, I think it's safe to assume that Kobe could have won multiple championships if he were paired up with an elite big man, other than Shaq.

I respect your views on Shaq, but there's no reason to dis Kobe in the process.

THE CELTS DEFENSE WILL BE DEVASTATING.

And they will be tops in the league in rebounding. Guaranteed!

Lets retire Tony Smith's # 34...just to piss off Shaq

Ok Celtic fans, before you start counting all those chickens, take a look at this article by Dwyer on Yahoo Sports.

Just remember which Shaq you're getting here, he isn't the early 2000 version anymore.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Shaquille-O-Neal-a-Celtic-;_ylt=AqqngZFpa.1lToW8IVvMW_y8vLYF?urn=nba-260187

I think you guys are WAAAYYY over the top on this thing. He needed a job, he wanted to play for a contender. MIA, ORL and LAL were out! He hasn't played for you guys since, what, 2002? When he dissed Dr. Buss and Bryant, that was okay, but NOW he is a traitor? OMG you guys, give it a rest!

We are very happy to have The Artist Formerly Known as Shaq on our roster this year. In 20 mins, we are hoping for 10 and 8. We also hope he will make an effort to improve his atrocious pick and roll defense.

Don't look at him as Shaq - Shaq is gone, this was simply the best FA big man left on the market, and we needed one.
I always loved and respected Rick Fox, even when he went to the lakers. Brian Shaw? Not so much. He never wanted to play in Boston, and held out twice. I hope he continues to NOT get Head Coaching jobs.

Anyway, we are still not done, one deal left to go. Delonte West? Shane Battier? James Posey? Or maybe a surprise. Lastly, just for the record, NO ONE in Boston is really counting on Von Wafer (another lakers cast-off, right?) for much of anything!

I almost feel sorry for Shaq. The only reason he signed with the Celtics is that no other teams want to give him a job. Shag is hardly impact player anymore. Should the Lakers play against the Celtics in the Final, it would be a good match up. Shaq vs Ratliff....3rd string centers.

Why do I feel like we are in the basketball equivalent of the Blade series and the Celtics are the vampires and the Meat are the reapers?

No matter how much Shaq has slowed down, he is going to be an asset coming off the bench come playoff time, especially if Boston faces Orlando or the Lakers. His limited minutes from the bench should keep him fresh for the playoffs. I was relieved when Miami decided not to pursue him, and was hoping he would sign with Atlanta....anyone but Boston darn it. Shaq, even at his age, can be a big headache for Bynum and Gasol. He might not contribute much in terms of PER in the regular season, but he will be a valuable option for Doc Rivers against big teams in the playoffs.

Three words: No Retired Jersey

I will retire my own Lakers Fan jersey if this clown ever gets his jersey up in the rafters with the true laker legends.

Shaq is a good addition to Celtics team and now it will be even more gratifying to neat the Celtics in the finals..

all kidding aside, what a remarkable, almost shakespearian fall from grace, for one of the greatest icons of this era.

From team-maker (ahm, many would say braker) to a minimum sal pariah, reduced to shopping his considerable baggage on on annual basis for another second-tier team destined to regret the moment they brought him into their locker room.

Rick Fox and Brian Shaw retired as Lakers. The Big Leprechaun has spit on his true legacy just for another payday.

$34 will get retired one of these years, after everyone else deserving has had theirs first.

After yet another argument between Walter O'Malley and Jackie Robinson made O' Malley so mad that he sold Robinson's contract to the pre-Frisco Gints, Robinson retired rather than EVER put on the Orange and Black Halloween costume.

Posted by: LAKER TRUTH | August 04, 2010 at 03:09 PM

yeah blame it on Jon K.....

I'm not afraid of a Celtics-led, I mean, Celtics-followed Shaq (Shaq is not leading the Celtics anywhere) team. The Lakers will win the matchup with them in the Finals because we are a better offensive and defensive team particularly with the addition of Blake, Barnes, and Ratliff on the defensive end. It's just the thought of him being in Celtics green. You know, he is a Lakers despite all the drama, even the fact that he played for Miami, Cavs, Suns, etc. I don't particularly hold any of that against him. But to don the hated Celtics green, AFTER he had bled P&G with us Lakers Nation is most unkind and unforgiveable sin in my Lakers Nation eyes. Please don't retire his jersey number Dr. Buss! He's sticking it to you and asking you how his a$$ taste. The best thing to reply back is to issue his 34 number to somebody else, beat him and his Celtics squad in the Finals next June, and take a full page ad out of the Boston Globe to ask Shaq, how does mine taste, fool?

A suggestion for a future post:
What to do with your old Lakers-Shaq jersey?

The Knicks' chances of landing free agent shooting guard Shannon Brown are just about over. Mark Bartelstein, Brown's agent, told The Post the Lakers guard is "leaning'' toward returning to the Lakers to go for a "three-peat.'' Brown is expected to make his final decision Thursday

http://tinyurl.com/23wa7xk

Shannnon Brown update.........HoopsHype reports Brown's agent said that he's leaning toward returning to the Lakers for a 3-peat. Final decision by Thurs, Some much needed Laker news.

Shaq did not defect to Boston he was pushed out of LA by Kobe.

Defection is what Lebron did to Cleveland, and what Kobe threated to do before the arrival of Gasol.

Don't blame Shaq, it was his only option. Blame those that sent him away, they are to blame.

Kobe's the reason Shaq joined the Cs.

"One more than Shaq."

Glad Kobe said that. Now we know how much it got to Shaq. Payback's a bitch.

I don't see why anyone should be appalled by Shaq's signing with the Celtics; personally I think it's a great day for Celtic and Laker fans both. If his addition helps the Celtics get past Miami for the Eastern Conference title, I'm all for it. There is no greater NBA Final than one that matches up the Lakers against the Celtics. As for the Heat, if they fail dismally, it would be a beautiful thing as far as I'm concerned.

If Bynum wants to put his signature on a championship, this might be a good a time as any. In Jackson's rotation, Bynum is the 2nd team center. He'll get significant minutes going heads up against Shaq, provided both of them are healthy which is always questionable. Bynum has the "Big Heir-Apparent" for the past 5 years, so what better opportunity than prove it against your predecessor?

In regards to Shaq's jersey, it should be retired and hung on the wall at Staples Center without question, but not anytime soon. I don't know if he's ever given the Lakers the proper respect, especially Dr. Buss. Certainly, he's always given the highest praise to West, but there are times when he did not seem to be very appreciative of the time he spent with the Lakers or what they did for him, like making him one of NBA's highest paid players. Before that #34 jersey gets nailed up to the Staples Center wall, I need to see an act of contrition which could be asking for the impossible considering he is the "Big Ego."

In my mind, it's very simple. When Shaq is nominated for the HOF, he simply needs to say "I wish to enter the Hall as a Los Angeles Laker" and wear a purple and gold tie to emphasize the fact. If he wants to go in as a Heat, Magic, or as a member of another team, then the Lakers should release #34 to any player who wishes to wear it and Shaq loses all of his L.A. privileges.

Lakers-Celtic Final 2011. Can't wait!

Charley Rosen must die.

GO LAKERS!!!

It's not about Shaq being a Celt, it's about him being a jerk...

NO #34 in the Rafters!

I'm actually a little embarrassed for Shaq now. It's honestly pretty sad.

It's not like he's Kurt Thomas or some other journeyman big who never won squat and had to poach his way onto a championship squad. But that's what he's trying to do. For the Vet's Minimum. What are the chances he offered himself to the Lakers for the minimum? Would Dr. Buss pay him that effin money? That's quite a pay cut. And in Boston! Of all places Boston? For tip money? That cements it, no 34 in the rafters, not ever. They like to call us Fakers but it's Shaq who's the real Faker.

I never loved what Shaq represented, but he was such a physical force in his prime, playing on my team of teams, I couldn't help but love him. It was always a little sad to me. It was like the universe conspired to create an unstoppable force on the basketball court then gave him the spirit of a petulant child who had to have everything easy or he'd pack up his ball and go play elsewhere. I didn't hate Shaq for what he was - I hated him for what he wasn't. He could've rewritten the record books. They would've renamed the Basketball Hall of Fame the Shaq Hall of Fame if he'd just given anything resembling the effort of the all-time greats. But his effort was always half-hearted at best. In all he did, apparently.

He never gave his heart to this team like the Lakers greats of old. NEVER. And that's when his Jersey should hang amongst theirs - Never. The day Snaq O'Meal's Jersey hangs anywhere near Magic, Kareem, West, Worthy, et al, is the day I become a Clipper fan. His name doesn't even deserve to be whispered in the same breath as those all-time greats.

BREAKING NEWS:

A source from inside the Maintenance Dept at the Staples Center has revealed that a very large order has been placed (approx 19,079) for seat covers with Shaquille O'Neal's smiling face stamped on them to be placed on every seat for the whole season. Urinal cakes with the LeBrons face were also ordered.

Ummm...Miami pulled together 2 HOFers/3 All-Stars in an attempt to unseat Kobe.

Boston just DOUBLED its number of All-Stars and HOFers in their latest attempt, having found that the HOFers and All-Stars they've already collected were inadequate for the job.

Maybe Kobe is already the GOAT. Apposing coaches and General Managers tend to agree...They have voted with their job security and/or pocketbooks. That, fellow bloggers, is the only voting that really counts.

--FEARless

From a BBall perspective, really Boston, you can have him.

If he wasn't motivated by 20 million, he sure isn't gonna be motivated by 1.4.

He'll come in out of shape. He'll have freak injuries all year and play in about 1/2 the games, but then so will J O'Neal, so you'll have an over the hill, out of shape, unmotivated 7 footer on your roster for most of the season. You really think either of those scrubs are going to contribute anything serious this year? Fat Baby will dominate compared to those two has-beens. (Acutally Jermaine is a never-was)

As for your dreams of having Perkins back for the playoffs, good luck with that. It's an ACL. Not some minor knee injury. And he weighs 270 pounds. Probably close to 300 now since he can't work out. It's over for you. Last year was your last gasp and you blew it.

It's over. 30 years of obscurity this time since no former Kelts will be GMs around the league anymore and gift you franchise players in lopsided deals in feeble attempts to bring you back to prominence.

Another idea for a new thread:

Who's got the bigger ego - Snaq or princess?

call him the BIO-DIESEL now

But in his defense, Shaq did sign for the money. No, not the paltry 1.4 the Celts were allowed to pay him. But the money he'll make on his Shaq Vs TV show and other endorsements that he'll keep making by staying relevant. God knows Shaq out of the NBA or on a non-contender is about as relevant as Sven Nater.

• The only addition to this signing is another layer to Shaq's embarrassing "legacy". He was selfish and lazy with LA, then his ego had D-Wade push him away in Miami, then he ruined Nash and the offense in Phoenix, and he got in the way of LeBron in Cleveland. With the Celtics, the old just got older. Shaq's jersey will hang from nowhere and he'll have to live with that. Hopefully his newly-divorced life and millions can deal with being the league joke.

• Miami has a lot of work to do, but they still have the highest potential for a new team. They built a surprisingly stable supporting cast around the top three, so now it just comes down to execution, letting go of egos, and praying an injury happens to LA.

• The Lakers still have best team, the most complete team and the most proven team. It doesn't matter what kind of fan you are, you can't deny that. Are they a lock to win? Absolutely not. Injuries, trades, chemistry and luck prevail sometimes. But if someone put a gun to your head and told you to predict a champion this season or he pulls the trigger if you're wrong? Admit it: You'd say, "Lakers," in a heartbeat.

• The Thunder are the most dangerous team in the league. Don't underestimate them for a second.

danny ainge-Fail at the "reload button".

Shaq is going to make the Celtics weaker on the defensive side. His screen and roll defense is still flat out bad and could be getting worst and he will be a nightmare in the locker room no matter how much KG/Ray/Paul will say otherwise. It seemed Shaq behaved in Cleveland but there were reports that said otherwise because Shaq still believed he was deserving of touches.

That being said the Celtics match more with the Lakers and has an edge over the Heat now in terms at the center position. Heat-Celtics playoff series will be a good one. Whoever wins I'm hoping they destroy each other. Whipping the 3 Queens will be as fulfilling as beating the Celtics again.

Though one has to wonder what the rotation will be when Perkins come back healthy since there are 3 centers (though JO can play PF at times) on the team that wants minutes and Doc Rivers will have to be very patient with those 3.

I vote we ban Danny Ainge for posting that garbage three times and then posting it three times twice more! Come on Celt fan, follow the rules. No multiple postings "Just like everybody else here".

This just brings a whole new excitement to Celts- LA games. I love it and even you LA bums should be able to appreciate a thriving rivalry... oh by the way, when is Manny coming back from his vacation in Arizona? Ha ha, suckers!

SHAQ IS A FOOL AND BUFFOON !!!

You always hear about how character is such a major factor when general managers talk about what they look for in putting together a great team. But then when push comes to shove and their jobs are at stake, they’ll sign anybody if they think it will help them compete for or win a championship. They’ll convince themselves that a chemistry crapshoot is a smart move.
~
Thank God that the Lakers front office was not tempted to sign Shaq as a backup center to Andrew. As a long-time Yankee fan, I’ve learned to live with and accept the “he’s an a-hole but he’s our a-hole” reality that certain players inevitably bring to the team. by the time that Shaq departed, I thought he had certainly earned the “our a-hole” status on the Lakers.
~
I love how Celtic fans reluctantly joined with Lakers fans in ridiculing the way that the Miami Heat have turned the league on its tail with the super friends. They’re so blinded with hate and competitive juices that they don’t see that Danny Ainge is going to do the same thing with the Celtics after the 2012 season, when all his big contracts expire at the same time.
~
For every team in the league, it’s all about taking advantage of their windows of opportunity before they close. With the Heat, how long will LeBron be willing to be Wade’s bitch. With the Celtics, it’s how long can the Big Three still be big. Ironically, windows are not something that the LA Lakers worry about. Sure we want to take advantage of Kobe’s prime years but we smartly drafted Andrew Bynum to hopefully take over.
~
And speaking of Andrew Bynum, have you noticed that the trolls and analysts all seem to be ignoring the impact that his being injured had on the Lakers the last two years. The basketball gods willing, a healthy Andrew Bynum is going to elevate the Lakers to a new level that will make them the lone dominant team in the league. I am looking forward to seeing Drew FLUSH Shaq’s career by dominating him in the Finals.

Though for those wondering about Shannon:

Knicks' target Brown likely staying with Lakers: agent

"Mark Bartelstein, Brown's agent, told The Post the Lakers guard is "leaning'' toward returning to the Lakers to go for a "three-peat.''

Brown is expected to make his final decision Thursday."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like again its the bench for the Machine

I am not sure who to fell more sorry for...

The big leech who goes from host to host trying to suck one more championship to keep up with Kobe.

The Boston Celtics who have to carry his lardass and lie about what kind of contribution he makes to the team.

The delusional Celtic fans who thinks that this is the answer to all of their prayers of not having the Lakers surpass the ring total.

My prediction next year Round 2 Celtic and Miami meet in a desperate battle to not blow their season. They end up beating each other up and Orlando takes out the winner in the ECF. It will be nice to see Dwight Howard in the finals again. He seems to be the class of the East.

kb blitz,

Where did the 4m, multiple years NY offer came from? Perhaps, Lakers offered him 2.5M for 3yrs. Anyway, that's good news for everyone.

The Big Benedict! Ya retire his jersey just because he did three-peat, but he was nothing before Phil and Kobe. And the Lakers won before the Big Arnold arrived and will continue to win well after he is elected sheriff to Nowhere, Texas. Boston Celtics? Does he hate Kobe so much that he would pimp himself and wear Celtic gangrene just to try and win another ring while spitting on Lakernation? What a Dict!

Shaq will play as a 2nd stringer and when K. Perkins comes back, he slides to 3rd Center. Can he dig that disrespect? What an embarrassment to HOF bound player? Maybe he needs the $1.3M to finance his hi-living.

That came form the rumor mill. Maybe someone wanted to jack up the price hoping that the Lakers would bite.

Thanks JAF,

I surmised shannon is keeping with the blog. We were able to show him the path to greatness and what is the unhidden offer from the Knicks. It says in the NY Post that he was only given one year in order to reserve salary space for Melo. SB will be nuts if he took that offer, one year and then you're gone! With the Lakers, you get less work, guaranteed for three years with lots of opportunities plus many pretty senoritas around and Laker girls compared to working women of NY. haha! If we sign Shannon, we have sigh of relief, next will be Ebanks and Caracter. We can call a vacation if those tasks are accomplished. With regards to Sasha and Luke, whatever will be, will be. Que Sera, Sera. Here is the dream line up

1. Fisher/Blake or Brown
2. Kobe/Brown/Vujacic
3. Artest/Barnes/Ebanks/Luke
4. Gasol/Odom/Caracter
5. Bynum/Raitliff or Gasol

too many players on #3, one must rest forever and ever. lol!

the big F-R-O-N-T-R-U-N-N-E-R strikes again. In case anyone forgot:

"Like I said, one thing I really hate is a front-runner, and I despise front-runners."

Thanks Deez. You extinquished the heat, set the suns, jestered with the "jester", and now-- you're on the cusp of disabling the green machine. IMPRESSIVE. Keep up the good w-o-r-k. 5peat?

On to the next ONE, TWO, THREE (5PEAT?).

Shaq took a page from the LBJ playbook in destroying his legacy.

I’m totally busy and what not, but I took 10 minutes to write down the first part of this. The song could have lent itself to more than one take, depending on what Shaq decided to do, I suppose. Enjoy it now, cause it might get deleted. I’ll add more later.

“^&*# Shaq”

You see his lumpy butt on the side of the road,
you think to yourself ‘^&*$’ Shaq.
He’s headed down that Boston highway
Looking for the last place to play
Lookin for his last place to play

He’s got him an ass, it’s as big as a whale
And he’s headin on down
I say #$%& Shaq!
How many years as he played, it seems about forty
So he’s got to be happy to get that vet min money!

^&(*# Shaq in his fat ol $#%
Let’s all say together;
#$%& Shaq baby, &(*# Shaq Baby
&*$# Shaq, that’s where it’s at, ^*&$ Shaq,

Yeah, i know, right? Classy all the way, took me hours to ponder the right words and the greater meaning behind them. What the heck, Shaq just signed with the Celtics. And $&#@ him anyway.

How can we help Jerry Buss pay less luxury taxes? Well, there is a pending lockout looming before the start of the season. Isn't it if there is a lock out, you could negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement? Owners should move to waive luxury taxes in the new CBA. Since small teams are disrespected with clustering of superstars, why do we need to put a cap? Secondly, all these monies are reserved for what purpose? I think it enhances the retirement plan of David Stearn and Stu Jackson. Do anybody trust head honchos, CEO's nowadays. BTW, is there anyone here know how much is the salary of David Stearn per annum and his retirement benefits?

and yeah,

IF THE LOVE SEES SHAQ IN REAL LIFE, THE LOVE WILL SHAKE HIS HAND AND THANK HIM FOR WHAT HE DID FOR THE LAKERS

THEN THE LOVE WILL TELL HIM THAT THE CELTICS SUCK AND HE IS GOING TO LOSE NEXT YEAR

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE LOVE

GO LAKERS!

I didn't even hit 'post' twice on that. I'm not using my own computer, sorry.

I'd actually like to see Shaq play the Barkley role on ESPN broadcasts. He's be better than Van Gundy or Mark Jackson.

I love it!

Celtic troll has been lurking, hiding, waiting in the weeds, looking for some reason to have hope.

And this is what brings him out!?

A big fat tub of no-class, has-been goo!?

The thought of the O'Neals in green weenie uni's makes me chuckle.

Which one is worse at this point in thier careers?

Waq, you've lost all your L.A. privileges.

This is the ultimate betrayal by Shaq. Lakers never meant anything to him. If Lakers every retire his jersey, I would change my loyalties to Clippers!!
