Good morning Laker Nation

so, Bynum's doing core strengthening workouts this summer huh. That's good news. I would think (though I'm not certain) that his injuries this year were a result of overcompensating for his past knee injuries. This would be very common. Core strengthening should help. If two of his injuries were freak accidents and the rest were from overcompensating, there is no reason he shouldn't be able to stay healthy this year. I hope so at least.

Good Morning Nation...

Hope you all have a GREAT day...

I'm excited about Bynum and Sasha this year...

Just have a feeling...

Yahoo! Sports:

Doc Rivers: “They still have not beaten our starting five. Our starting five against the Lakers starting five has a ring. Tell him don’t forget that. We will be back strong and Perk (Kendrick Perkins(notes)) will be there next year if there’s a game seven.”

Typical. Using his logic, their starting five never even played our starting five in 2008, so in terms of starting fives playing each other in the 2008 and 2010 NBA Finals, the teams are 3-3. Actually, because Perkins went down early in the 2010 Game 6 demolition, he probably doesn't count that game either. If you add the term, "when healthy," his starting five has never even played our starting five. What a douche.

>>>- Ball Don't Lie's Kelly Dwyer ranks Ron Artest 15th at small forward.

Ball may not lie, but Kelly Dwyer sure does.

Here are some guys he ranked ahead of Ron-Ron:

13. Nicolas Batum. Poster child for potential, but nowhere NEAR Artest's league yet. If he's the 13th best SF in the league, then why won't Portland even consider starting him or giving him starter level minutes? It's not like they have an all-star ahead of him at the position. I'm starting to think that Batum and Rudy Fernandez are two of the most highly overrated players in the league. Until they prove me wrong. Kelly Dwyer needs to understand the difference between "potential to be good" and actually being good. Batum is the former, Artest is the latter

11. Corey Maggette. PUH-LEASE. Corey "no defense" Maggette? Corey "the black hole of offense" Maggette. What's funny is, Dwyer even criticizes Maggette in his first paragraph, then says "But maybe this could chance in 2010-11". Hey Kelly Dwyer, listen up. A cow cannot become a tiger. Maggette's game is scoring and free throws and nothing else. Artest is an elite defender who can provide some scoring when needed as well, and who actually knows how to pass the ball as well. Monumental fail on Dwyer's part putting Maggette ahead of Artest.

11. Danilo Gallinari. That's right. Kelly Dwyer is so good with math, he thinks there are two 11's between 12 and 10. Gallo is a good 3-point shooter, but beyond that, nothing. Seriously, Dwyer is basing a ton of his assessment on players transforming into something they've never been (Maggette or Gallo actually playing defense, Batum being good enough to start and play starter level minutes and,

9. Andrei Kirilenko. Okay, so here's where he gets hypocritical. He ranks AK this high because "Kirilenko consistently does it all. Everything. Plus defense, too,". So AK gets top 10 for playing on both sides of the ball, but Artest doesn't.

The other guys on the list, I can live with - LeBron, Carmelo, Durant, Gerald Wallace, Igoudala, Granger, Pierce, probably even Deng and Gay (but only because Artest has slipped since his prime.

But if Kelly Dwyer wants to HONESTLY assess the abilities of these players and rank them, he needs to consider last year's playoffs. And look not only at Ron Artest's stats, but at the stats of Kevin Durant, Jason Richardson, and Paul Pierce. Artest DEVASTATED all of those players. Took them WAY out of their game. There's not a single player in his top 10 who can disrupt as well on defense as Artest can.

So is this anti-Laker bias? Or just anti-Artest bias.

So, Kelly Dwyer is saying that Corey Maggette is better than Ron Artest... meaning the Lakers would be better if they had Corey Maggette on their team over Ron Artest?

Yeah, that makes sense.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

Sorry, but that's not my RCOTD. Appreciate you trying to show me some love and all, but I just can't take credit for the work of others. (Damn my good conscience.)

Good morning...
...and bye.

Good morning, everyone! Looks like we must be on tape delay since there are no comments on this post yet.

Few thoughts:
1) How many days until the season starts?
2) Are Doc's players stupid enough to buy what he's saying or have they told him to shut his mouth about the starting five business?
3) What does Maria Sharapova see in Sasha?
4) Is Kelly Dwyer mentally disabled and if so, is her job at Ball Don't Lie kind of like the way Carl's Jr. used to hire mentally handicapped employees (before anyone gets too sensitive, I had a good friend who was hired by Carl's Jr for that reason so I'm just saying I would respect Ball Don't Lie more if that was the case)
5) How long do we have to wait before the season starts?

What up, y'all? Sorry I missed out on a great chat. Good to see DBDH represented, though. (LRob! LFICT! woot-woot!)

DBDH - We can't slide anything past you. Just like the good coach you have your moles

I'm ready for the season to start already!
Any updates on the surgery recovery for Bryant and Bynum?

Thanks for another rich vein of links. I can't decide id working out with Maria is an inspiration for Sasha or a distraction.

Tom D.

>>>his starting five has never even played our starting five.

Add me to the "Doc Rivers is a douche" bandwagon please.

Looking at's view of the Western conference I came to this conclusion:

The Eastern conference is top heavy, with a couple of teams that could win a title (Boston/Miami) but not a whole lot of depth.

The Western conference is deep - there are a lot of solid teams that could beat the Lakers on a given night. But there is nobody that can win 4 of 7. So an OKC or Denver or Houston or Portland may beat the Lakers in the regular season, and may make a series interesting in the playoffs. But the Lakers know how to play together and know how to win, and even banged up this year they got the job done.

So book your trip to the Finals now.

Typical sore losing coach.

2008. FULL STRENGTH. Lakers win handily.

Oh, but that's right DOC, we haven't been healthy in three seasons in any final.

I used to love DOC the player. But DOC the coach has lost my respect. What he said was just as idiotic as what the TRUTH said during the summer of 2008 when he declared himself the best basketball player on the planet.

Bottomline, our full strength lineup has lost less than 20 games over the past three seasons. IMPRESSIVE. MOST IMPRESSIVE.

I don't think anybody wants to play us at full strength. It's the closest thing to the 72 win Bulls that any era has seen. And those teams would have to deal with everybody on either the 2008 or 2010 lineup.

Big Baby played much better than Perk and created matchup problems. And as bad a game 7 as KOBE had, DOC forgets that it was his team that had a double digit lead. When crunch time came around MAMBA did what he needed to do. And what he needed to do was win. Rings are not given for style points. If that was the case, Boston wouldn't have any and the Queen would have 7. It's about the work done on the floor.

Since Kobe has been called the second best player and two guard in the league, I can't help but think that when the playoffs start this year, that he may attempt to lift his teammates to a perfect playoff run ending with a celebration on South Beach whether Lebron and Co. make it there or not.

The chip will be there and there is no one currently playing that's man enough to knock it off. The last of a dying breed is still alive and kicking and looking for Number 6. In hardware form and in the form of the Queen. Enjoy the MAMBA while he's still around.
