Poll Question: Do you prefer Ron Artest's or Lamar Odom's reality TV show?
Forget LeBron James' hourlong ESPN special Thursday that will detail where he wants to play. The Lakers provide more riveting reality television.
The New York Post's Kelly Magee recently reported that Lamar Odom and his wife, Khloe Kardashian, will soon be in a reality TV show together. The Hollywood Reporter mentioned back in April that Ron Artest agreed to get his own reality series, though he later shared that filming wouldn't start until after the season began.
It's not completely clear what each reality show will entail. The Post's report mentioned that Odom's show "will chronicle shock-jock Khloe's quest to get pregnant by her multimillion-dollar Laker husband." After the Lakers' parade, Artest revealed that he was being filmed while rapping his song "Champion" a cappella. Even if we're left in the dark on what each show will feature, Lakers fans at least know what to anticipate. Here are two ideas for both shows.
1. With Kardashian issuing Odom a Rolls-Royce after the Lakers won the championship, the two debate whether this should actually be part of their prenuptial agreement. The conversation becomes contentious at first, raising questions on whether they can trust each other, but they eventually agree it should just serve as a gift and nothing else.
2. Amid the reports that say Kardashian and Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa Bryant, don't like each other, we get the real scoop on the apparent animosity between the two basketball moms. If there is indeed a fight, Artest can play peacemaker.
3. Artest has spent plenty of time on Twitter these days, but one day he goes over the limit. He types one too many tweets, causing Twitter to shut his access and leave him wondering what to do with himself the rest of the day.
4. After Artest made the rap single "Champion" with Dr. Dre, many in the hip-hop community lauded Artest for his effort. In this episode, the likes of Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg teach Artest how to freestyle. The sessions ends in Eminem and Artest having a war of words and ultimately coming to blows. They then release separate battle tracks dissing each other.
Which reality TV show -- Odom's or Artest's -- would you prefer to watch? Vote in the poll below and feel free to suggest a few episode ideas in the comments section.

I know how it goes down.
That crazy Burger King character comes out, takes off his mask and it's LeBronz.
He reveals his choice. He's buying Greece and moving there to play.
But seriously, no way this clown takes a whole hour, the day after, to announce he's moving into Dwade's house. If so, he's a bigger douche than I thought.
The question is what's he gonna do to try and take the sting out for dumping Cleveland?
The bulls got a litter better today (not $80 Million worth), so that might apeal to him. Then again Amare is waiting in his dream destination, with a kiss and a promise from Melo...

Here is a prime example of the the whole picture in the NBA...
While all the teams are trying to get better, younger and stronger...
Or as we see it through our eyes...How everyone is trying to keep up with the Lakeshow...
Our loyal fans have a predicament of which reality show we should watch...
Life is good being a Laker fan...

I keep saying this and could be off base (pardon the baseball pun," I just can't see even the "King of No Rings" calling this big deal to announce he's leaving his home, what an extra insult that would be!
Posted by: D(erek)J(eter) | July 07, 2010 at 05:07 PM
PS-I do think he'll have an out or two in his contract, you know, to do it all over again sooner than later.

Come on everyone quit being so hard on Lebron (HSC) James. That's High School Champion. He is also a gold medal winner.
I think all bloggers should predict where LBJ is going.
Posted by: Troll Man | July 07, 2010 at 05:13 PM
TM,
The "King of No Rings" is a really fine player, but all that fake picture taking at games a couple years ago and then the dancing during games last season is seems very disrespectful to the opponent, and then he hasn't won any Rings!
Kobe just goes about his business, you know, 1,2,3,4,5 and counting.

The school where LeBron will announce is in NY…
Knicks then make big trade with Hornets to get Chris Paul…
Like the Yankees, the Knicks don’t mind taking on big contracts…
Throw in Emeka Okafor probably at center too…
LeBron, CP3, and Amare would be the NY answer…
Dantoni’s run and gun would be unleashed…
LeBron’s stats would go through the roof…
Madison Square Garden stock would explode…
Where else would a billionaire in waiting to?
To be the biggest star you have to be on the biggest stage.
LeBron joins the Knicks and Spike goes berserk!

Very curious situation. LeBron already tarnished his reputation once with his now-infamous handshake-refusal. Would he really want to tarnish it further by rubbing an hour’s worth of salt into a gaping Cleveland wound? Makes me think he might actually be staying in Cleveland. Otherwise, surely (?) his entourage would advise him that the classy thing to do would be to make just a brief announcement, thanking the Cleveland fans and graciously citing his new destination. But we’ll see. If I were a betting man, well . . . I still wouldn’t bet.

We’re talking about the marketing capital of the world…
Remember…this guy does not think like Kobe…he thinks he transcends the sport…
No way does LeBron want to be part of a trio of stars like three princes…

The Heat would actually be better off not getting LeBron and using the money for a solid supporting cast and bench. They could be a dangerous team if everyone clicks together.
If LeBron joins, the team will self-destruct. Three alpha males on one team, with no money for a supporting staff, doesn't work.
And if Pat Riley takes over coaching, it will self-destruct SPECTACULARLY.

Can't say I'm into reality shows. But I know one thing for sure, is that I could care less where Le Le Bron goes. The media hype is nauseating. IMO it is about the Le Le Bron lovers trying to ignore the elephant in the room (The Lakers). When it's all said and done, he and all of the other supposed super stars will still have to play on the court with the elephant.
Make the big announcement. Bask in the attention. Have a coronation. The question is, Will we see you in the finals?

First of all, Ron Ron could only star in an 'unreality' show. That's what I'm voting for.
I might get around to Lamar and Khloe after I finish watching the Anna Nicole Smith reruns ... you know, in case I want to see something really trashy.
Really, LaFoul Odor now goes from 'flake' to clown. I got a feeling the Busses are figurin' out how to get him on a Greyhound out of town. Course, Khole will stay behind.
Seriously, I thought Lamar grew up when he went through the pain of losing his child. Sadly, I was wrong.

1. Sterns has always stated that he prefers Lebron to stay there. Can he go against the wishes of the Commissioner?

Agreed. Chicago's Mike's, if not MJ then Ditka's, town and Miami is Wade county.
If JZ and the dude with all the Rubles gives him part of the franchise, you could get to billionaire quicker and wouldn't have to take on the NYC press after every failure. Some star would come play with him sooner than later but it would be impossible to sell that it was a decision based on winning.
LeBron can do no wrong in CLeveland. The city will adore him win or lose. That's powerful. Having had the best record, they're not that far off.
The Knicks? LBJ can't even handle Olympic and playoff pressure. The NYC press put the double "s" in pressure. The Knick's have money but the ownership structure is skewed. The D'Antoni move was put in place for this purpose, but let's review ... championships only will do. His style folds in the playoffs and Amare sure as hell doesn't play enough defense to change that stat. If he doesn't perform at least as well as Cleveland, he's skewered by the press and his marketing value sags.
The best thing for his image would be to stay where he is. There's little that Madison Ave can do because he plays for the Knicks that they haven't done while he was in Cleveland. He's already everywhere. More than everywhere?
The League would prefer he go to NY because of the ratings windfall but that doesn't go in LBJ's pocket. The Knick franchise value doesn't grow much at all, though some unknowingly think otherwise. Wall Street estimates little change in overall value. The jersey revenue is shared by the league. The Knicks sell out anyway but there would be a bump up in playoffs, vendors and the like. Some of the numbers he's had thrown at him aren't real. His people will be smart enough to know that. One estimate said he'd earn between 500K and 2 billion. Huh? You could fit Moscow in between those figures.
Everyone's predicting Amare and the skyline will be enough. All the signs point to the Big Apple, but he should stay home.
Posted by: VMan | July 07, 2010 at 08:09 PM
LeBron will stay in Cleveland. In this case failure to win at home is better than failure to win abroad. His theme song should be "I Try So Hard", by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
Posted by: Nemaia Faletogo | July 07, 2010 at 08:09 PM
Well if Lebron's announcement isn't in Cleveland, then isn't it a given that he's not going back there? Lebron and Byron Scott didnt even speak at the pick up game yesterday. Yuck. I would hate to work in retail, food, or in any you name it services within a 50 mile radius of their arena. Can you spell 2 weeks notice?
So that leaves jay-z team = not. Didnt they almost break the record 4 worse team ever last season? This Russian guy paid for that billboard across fom MSG for whut reason? Maybe this year they will move up to second to last place.
Miami = Wade's team so that's an easy scratch. Plus Bosh basically dissed him with the whole pairing with Wade from Day 1. Besides, who's signing up for Riley's practices, even Magic had had enuff of that.
The Bulls = his rivals and we know he never liked Noah (or maybe the other way around)and I don't blame Noah for wanting to sock him for doing the kid and play during gametime. And you can't drop Jordan's old number and then go to his team. What's next wear hanes?
My co-worker said the Clippers today and my soda came up through my nose.
So here we are right back to where we started this whole conversation so many moons ago. The Knicks = MSG his favorite arena to play in, plus the biggest stage 4 the biggest ego all time. Can't you hear the 50 cent bout to come through your ESPN speakers? The videos, the icey chains, the candy paint rides, the billion dollar pitches. Can't you see Spike Lee & Chris Rock getting in on the pregame rituals on the sidelines? And put a camera on the Lebron box at Yankees stadium during the game? Now imagine Lebron in the dunk contest, or even better, the finals at MSG. A national press conference in an hour long special 4 an announcement on where hes going to play ball, it's like Stern wrote the script himself. It's freakin hilarious! Who does lebron think he is? This stuff has really gone to his head, I am so glad he's not a Laker. Let me say that again, I so glad that this EGOMANIAC is not a Los Angeles Laker.
B Shaw has the last laugh tomorrow.

LEBRON DESTINATION PREDICTIONS

1. Troll Man---- It has always been New York.
Knick fans are easily satisfied, win 1 championship and you are worshipped forever. Chicago, no way, LBJ can't compete with MJ. Miami, no way, this guys ego is to big to share top billing.
2. lbj is a joke----lbj is going to join wade and bosh in miami
cleveland can't do anything for him. he needs rings and wade and bosh will help him get them.
3. LakerTom---LeBronze goes to New York.
Cleveland has no chance to win a title…
Miami is still Wade’s town…
Chicago will always be MJ’s town…
New Jersey will be Brooklyn…
But to be the best of the best at anything…
The Big Apple is the only place to go…
Where else do you go to make your fortune?
4. Magic Phil---LeGone is going to NY
coz she was the last to know Delonte was making his mom...That hurts...Oh, and I think he throw the last 2 games, just for revenge...
5. htj ---Lebron stays home.
Knowing he'll never win squat any way, might as well take the money.
6. D(erek)J(eter) ---Cavs
However, will have an opt out after a couple years or so.
7. Staples 24 ---LEBRON will choose NEW YORK KNICKS
8. LEWSTRS---LeBron will sign with the Knicks...
He is about money...There's your poster boy going to the media capital of the world...
Mr. Stern is walking on air...He plan is falling into place...The season is over, but the NBA is still on prime time...The only think missing are some rings...Kobe has em...
9. WintonDupree--- I say NY. Bright Lights, big city.
Since you didn't record my vote for Greece
Melo joins them next year.
They still don't win
I should change my name to Nostrodamus
10. Rick Friedman---Hell (I'm guessing that's NY- Troll Man)
LeBron doesn't understand that there's no "I" in "Team, so he's going where there is no team.
11. Lakergurl---It has to be Cleveland.
Sterns has always stated that he prefers Lebron to stay there. Can he go against the wishes of the Commissioner?
Lebron has also proclaimed that he intends to bring a championship to Cleveland (even if he dies trying to do it).
He's from Ohio and big city is not for him.
12. Nemaia Faletogo---LeBron will stay in Cleveland.
In this case failure to win at home is better than failure to win abroad.
His theme song should be "I Try So Hard", by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
13. jayden24---The Knicks

One of the fewest times I'll agree with a Celtic fan(s).
Btw Chad Ochocinco/Johnson and Jared Dudley has their votes as well:
http://twitter.com/OGOchoCinco/status/17964214624
http://twitter.com/JaredDudley619/status/17967607292
Is it really a vote or do they know where he is really going??
Btw for those NFL fans I"m really surprised how Chad Johnson err Ochocinco (should be Ochenta y Cinco) matured ever since he got known in the NFL in the 05-06 season with those bold guarantees. He earned my respect after years of being such an arrogant dude in Cincinnati.

Chicago is ready-made for LeBron to win right away.
He could make history with Miami.
He could stay in Cleveland and gut it out.
He could grab the money and spotlight in NY or NJ.
Whatever he does will shock us.
But I'm enjoying all the talk because it's making July a fun sports month. For once. Plus, nothing that has been done changes the Lakers' status as the favorites to retain the crown next year.

Announcer: This is a Special Report from ABC News: America Held Hostage, Day 729. Reporting from New York, here is Ted Koppel.
Koppel: Good evening. We are now only hours away from America's longest-running domestic hostage crisis. In only hours, Americans will be free to live, work, think and live their lives once again. It has been 729 long days since LeBron James declared his free agency. Here's an update from ESPN's Mike Breen.
Breen: Ted, America has never seen anything like this, and Thursday night at 9 pm Eastern Time, all eyes will be on Greenwich, Connecticut. At last, David Stern will get his answer. Where will LeBron James spend the next part of a promising career, that to date, has achieved nothing? For more, here's my colleague, Shelley Smith.
Smith: Mike, I'm in Akron, Ohio, arguably the armpit of America, but in recent years known as the home of Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James. In a place like Cleveland or Akron, a guy who's never won a championship can be a hero. If he leaves here to go to another team, Ohio will be devastated. And so will coach Byron Scott, who after years in the desert, hoped he would arrive in the Promised Land.
Scott: I showed him my ring. It may be the only one he ever sees. But I hope it inspired him to stay with the Cavaliers.
Smith: Ted, a lot of nervous folks here tonight.
Koppel: Thank you, Shelley. Let's get the latest from our reporters covering other teams held hostage, beginning with Ric Bucher in Miami. Ric, what've you got?
Bucher: I got nothin', Ted. Now to my colleague Rachel Nichols in Chicago.
Nichols: I got nothin', Ted. Now to my colleague Stuart Scott in Miami.
Scott: I got nothin', Ted. Now to my colleague Erin Andrews in New York.
Andrews: Nothin' from either the Knicks or the Nets, Ted. Back to you.
Koppel: Five teams held hostage. One self-proclaimed king grandstanding like crazy, playing the teams, fellow players, and fans for suckers. Thursday night it will end, more likely with a whimper than a bang, but America will no longer be held hostage. For all of us at ABC News, I'm Ted Koppel.

some thoughts for the hard core people that read to the end of each thread....
Or for the people who read posts that end with ‘phred’
The thoughts that I have thunk inside my head
Yes, I have been reading Dr Suess with my friend Zed…
“James will announce his decision in the first ten minutes of his one hour special.’
Darn, I was hoping he was going to sit there for 55 minutes with his chin in his hand going ‘hmmm. Eenny meeny….’
Is Vegas taking bets? I want to put my money on Lebron’s special winning the 2010 ‘OJ Simpson in 1994’ and ‘Mark McGuire in 2001’ award for ‘stuff we thought we would care about in ten years’
Fatty- seriously, you are counting? Dude, Rick has like thirty of these things. He is like triple Bill Russell, and the rest of us are like Isaiah Thomas or something. Well, me I think I’m more like Meadowlark Lemon, I don’t really compete in the same category. Or maybe Fellini or something; a couple people think I’m brilliant, everybody else is scratching their head thinking ‘what kind of obscure pretentious crap is this?’ Ok, I don’t really think about it that much.
LosFelizLaker- who ever said ESPN is a news organization? They hire a guy to comment on his own brother, another couple of guys to comment on teams where they are applying for the coaching job, and another guy to comment who owns part of another team. That and sending an avowed Celtics fan to blog at the NBA Finals, without bothering to give the Lakers equal time. To say nothing of reporting on/hyping games where they have a financial stake in high ratings.

whoops, I meant Dr. Seuss. How embrassing.
Posted by: phred | July 07, 2010 at 10:42 PM
Hmmmm. I’m not making predictions, but I think
If Lebron wants to make the most money for playing basketball, and rack up the good karma, he will resign with Cleveland.
If Lebron wants to be on the best actual basketball team, he will go to Chicago.
If Lebron wants to have all the attention, endorsements, and start his ‘media empire (yeah, right) He will go to New York.
Hmmm, I was seriously wondering about this when I started my paragraph…

Posted by: Rick Friedman | July 07, 2010 at 10:54 PM
Maybe I’m just some kind of cynical Luddite, but of what is Lebron’s ‘media empire’ going to consist? Is he going to produce/record some rap songs or albums? Is he going to have a reality tv show? Is he going to try to have thousands of dedicated twitter and youtube followers? Is he actually going to (it’s crazy, I know) try to win one or more NBA titles?
Wow. Lebron wants to be…Ron Artest.

Rick- yours was pretty good, too.

Trollman -
Add me to the predictors that pick the Knicks. Here's why:
Its all about ego with LeBronze. He could never be the greatest player in the history of Chicago. He would never settle for being just one of a "big 3" in Miami. Who cares who's the greatest player in the history of Cleveland.
But the Knicks, for all their past glory of decades ago, never had one uber-dominant player. Willis Reed, Clyde Frasier, Dave DeB, Earl the Pearl - it was always a TEAM game. Now the opportunity to be the greatest player ever in the Big Apple - the Babe Ruth of Basketball - is irresistible to LeBronze's ego.
I hope he goes for it. And falls flat on his royal ass.

granted, if this really happens, they're not the shaq-old malone-old payton-kobe lineup, but it'd be interesting. i'd feel safer with a couple ron artests..
Posted by: Mike in stanford | July 07, 2010 at 11:25 PM
here's a question; did Lebron make his decision before or after the free agent signings this week? If Lebron chooses the Knicks, he has Amare, maybe Lee, maybe Mike Miller, maybe somebody else to compete with a potent Chicago that has Rose, Deng (or maybe whoever they can sign and trade for Deng) Noah, Boozer, another medium range FAs, a still dangerous, veteran Celtics, and Miami will Wade, Bosh Beasley, etc.
If Lebron didn't know who was going where, he might have thought that the Knicks would have Wade or Bosh, the Bulls would have Bosh, the Heat might not have anybody, and he might have made his decision accordingly, but now can't reasonably back out.
All random speculation, but I wonder. I guess even after we know where Lebron is going, we might not know what Lebron really wanted to happen.
Gonna break my heart, I tell ya.
Posted by: phred | July 07, 2010 at 11:26 PM
* The Knicks might have Wade or Bosh or the Bulls might have Bosh, and could get Wade.
Posted by: phred | July 07, 2010 at 11:27 PM
Earl the Pearl.
What legend he was. I mean yeah he was a Knicks and I wanted him to lose even when he was in Washington but man that dude could ball.
For those who never saw He got Game yet know Ray Ray's character's name of Jesus Shuttlesworth that's where the name originated...Black Jesus aka Earl Monroe. Amare doesn't deserve that name.
When he went to New York and with Walt Frazier he had to tone his game so much he was more down to a flawed diamond than a pearl but earlier on hell only Dr. J, MJ, KB, and maybe Wade could put on a show like he did and win. Good times of watching good players instead of a wannabe drama queen like James is.

Posted by: Troll Man | July 07, 2010 at 11:45 PM
If Lebron was staying in Cleveland he wouldn't have all the rumors pop up the night before he announced his big decision so Cleveland is no longer there for him.
Having said that it's now between Miami and New York. Yeah it says so on ESPN but remember....2 days ago it was "Wade Leaning to Chicago" and guess what happens: Wade not only stays in South Beach but also snags him a Chris Bosh.
I'll wait until Lebron announces his decision but until then I'm still calling NYK.
Posted by: KB Blitz | July 07, 2010 at 11:58 PM
If the reports are true about LBJ joining Wade and Bosh in Miami, I guess it makes sense for Lebron. He doesn't need a max contract, he's his own empire.
The newest "BIG THREE" will be formidable indeed.
But how will the contracts be worked out?
Will they all sign 3 year deals worth around 15 million each?
I thought Bosh was only interested in a max contract.
I can't see Wade signing less than a max contract considering his legal problems with his restaurants/nightclubs and his divorce.
Still doesn't make sense to me. The risk of injury will cost them dearly if they don't get their money now.
Anyway Stephen A. Smith was the first to break the story a week or two ago.
