Video Caption Contest: Ron Artest playing dodgeball

"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball."

Those were the famous words uttered by one Patches O'Houlihan in the movie "Dodgeball."  And it's lucky for Ron Artest when he teamed up with Team Zankou Chicken recently for a little dodgeball action that his opponents weren't throwing wrenches.

Laker fans need not worry. Artest isn't hurt, and he can say with a straight face that he's more comfortable in the triangle (Hat Tip to You Been Blinded, Ball Don't Lie and ESPN Los Angeles' Andy Kamenetzky).

I'm going to feature a video caption contest with a few options. First: the event itself. Say you're on a dodgeball team and you see Artest show up to play. What's the first thing you say to him? Say you're on the opposing team and you try to knock Artest out. What do you say to him as you hurl the rubber ball at him?

The other option: Which sport do you want Artest playing in your rec league? Would Artest score 300 on your bowling team, or would every turn result in a gutter ball? Would Artest hit a home run on your softball team, or would he perform worse than Manny Ramirez post-female-fertility-drug era? Would Artest bend it like Beckham on your soccer team, or would he fare worse then France did in this year's World Cup? The best answers will be featured in a post Wednesday.

If I'm on a Dogeball team and I see Ron Ron show up to play on the opposite team I say 2 words....Hi! and Bye! As I hurl the Ball at him I also say nothing because the moment I throw it at him...I'm out the door. I'm not crazy, I just play crazy in commercials.

@ PURPLE & GOLD REIGN ...

You got it when you used the word "spirit"! Sometimes the exchanges on this blog sink from debate of ideas to deragotory personal attacks. Not good when this happens.

Sometimes news is slow and the banter includes personal, comical, whimsical, existential, etc. Good when this happens.

But, as P&GR nailed it, the key is the SPIRIT in which things are said. Amazing examples in this chronicles of total disagreement on ideas while showing the utmost respect. Such respect seems to grow out of a true, genuine, passion for Lakers Basketball.

For those of you new to this blog, we welcome your ideas. We also challenge you to acclimate yourself to the necessary SPIRIT here required to get in the trenches and duke it out. Petty, personal attacks attempting to ridicule are NOT part of the necessary spirit here.

Those who have history and built enough trust and relationship will engage with each other, kid each other, even put each other down ~ but they have that SPIRIT. It is EARNED and UNDERSTOOD.

So let the debate of ideas rage on. Bynum-bashers v. Bynum-boosters. Bandwagon jumpers. Trade scenarios to the craziest degree. Critiques of and suggestions for the Front Office. But let it be done in the TRUE LAKER SPIRIT!

Mike

Great job, as always!

I would take Ron Ron on my flag football team as long as he could learn the passing routes.

Agree Mamba, nothing bettter than that baby. I can't wait 'till we wipe the court with Miami's "Big 3".

One day, though, he's gonna make that dunk. The poor posterized soul will probably vanish in a puff of smoke right on the spot. The vortex of shame might be so great as to take a referee along with him.

--FEARless

FEARless!!!! LMAO!!!! That has got to be the best missed "shot" in the history of sports - not just basketball! Good one - and TNT Legs better remain a Laker so that day will indeed come.

Careful now, you might be waiting a lil while. I predict we play Boston again or even Orlando or The Bulls. You can't just throw together a Super Team. Just ask a certain 2004 Team. Lol.

Good Morning, JustAnotherMambaFan Head of The Mamba Clan, how are you this beautiful Laker morning?

I want Matt Barnes on my team!

I don't know if anyone has ever seen this, just a little something to laugh to, maybe Jon.K.

Ouch...

Good morning crwe!

Is the day Shanon re-signs? Is the day our rooks are invited into camp with a contract? Is the day we find out the future of Shaq and McGrady? Is th day Fatty stops asking silly questions?

Magia32,

OMG, that vid link was absolutely horribly, horribly funny.

As in hysterical.

Sick, but hysterical!!

If Artest showed up to play for the other team, all I'd say would be "dibs".

Ron Artest: Man of the People

Gotta love it :-)

The more we learn about him, the more we can see that he really is a softy.

Family man: devoted husband and father. Mingling with the public. Spending $18,000 dollars of HIS OWN MONEY to buy courtside seats for fans he did NOT EVEN KNOW for a playoff game. Dropping by for dinner with the family of another Lakers fan he recently met. The photos with countless fans. The hours spent signing autographs.

Ron is a genuinely 'Nice Guy' that deserves all the praise and accolades. It is definitely a 'feel good' story when nice things happen to good people.

The biggest part of Ron Artest's tale of redemption may be tied to his Game 7 heroics and winning Championship #16 with the Lakers, but I suspect the inner-Ron has always been a kind and gentle soul.

Kudos to the media for being on the (dodge)ball with this, and helping draw the curtain back on this side of Ron.

I love how the black team has their own "pornstache guy".

Reign - perfectly said. I heart me some RonRon.

Mamba24 - I'm good - you? Did you read my "thanks to you" post?

Sup Laker Fam,

Nothing but love for y'all right here!!! Go Lakers!!!

KobeMVP888,

Man, you have thrown down the gauntlet! Now the fun is really starting! In the classic words of "The Outlaw Josey Wales", when confronted by Union soldiers outside a saloon..."are you gonna pull them pistols or just stand there and whistle dixie?" All while holding a bag of groceries.

With my current needs......

I would put Ron on my home team..."Team Flood"....and make him captain of the sand bagging crew, not wasting his talents in filling or tying, but tossing the 40 lb bags.

Plus...if during a flash flood and my levy starts to leak, I would send Ron out to plug it up.

"Ron. Its leaking, we need someone to go out and plug that hole. The water is deep, the currrents are strong, lightning is all around....you can do it! Go for it Ron!"

@Justa, yeah thanks. You know we always got each others back, that's what being part of the Mamba Clan is all about.Sorry I took that fools side last time against you. Blame it on temporary insanity! Lol! Well I'm getting alil wozzy off this Percoset and Vodka...Damn you Justa :) You did say take 4 percoset didn't you? hahahaha!
Mamba24

Hogan,

1st. Nice response to me. Thanks for the dialogue.

2nd. When looking at your response for LakerTom's the comment about
rational people should make more sense.

you wrote: To answer your question, if Drew is still at 14/8 in 3 years then no, he hasn’t fulfilled my expectations. In the near term I’d be happy with 14/8/2/2 for an entire year and that would make him good.

my response: I appreciate the honesty. I agree with you.

you wrote: What leads me to believe that he will do better than that was how he was playing before each of his last two injuries, including his development on the defensive side of the ball, and his grit in playing through the pain in the playoffs.

my response: I sorta agree. Let's flesh this out a bit. In reverse order.
I agree about playing through pain. I am undecided about the defensive side.
Why? Because he didn't work on his defense until we were heading into the
playoffs. If he had focused on his defense in November, I would be in full
agreement with you. We can agree to disagree about this. However, do you
feel that I have a right to be cautious about this?

re: how he was playing before injury. Again, I'm undecided. He had good
numbers, but he was getting good numbers against teams that didn't have a
strong low post presence. ex: Warriors, Raptors, Kings.

you wrote: I’d say something like a consistent 20/11/2.5blks with the points increasing over the years as he develops and Kobe and/or Pau decline. More than the numbers I just want to see the kid kick the hell out of the opposition.

my response: I'll take this. Seriously. If Bynum is averaging 20/11 with 2.5
blocks he'd be roughly where Pau is at today. I'll take it as a definition of
beastliness. I'd love to see him beat up on the opposition. Getting 20/11
against Howard would be a sign of his arrival.

you wrote: Putting aside my expectations can we agree that if he stays healthy it would be reasonable to expect 20/10 this year?

my response: You're asking him to get 5 more points & 2 more rebounds
this year. I would *LOVE* to see it, but I don't expect it. There are a couple
of reasons why. They are:

1. Artest knows the offense better. I expect his offense to go up not down.
2. Ratliff. Phil has a steady "Big" coming off the bench. I expect him to use
Ratliff more than he used Mbenga.
3. Bynum is going to have to fight for his position. He hasn't done a great job
of that so far. On the other hand, the West has gotten easier. I was
looking at OKC vs. Lakers last night. There were a lot of times when he
didn't fight for position. I don't know that he's learned that. I hope so.
4. I don't expect any decline in Pau or Kobe for 2 - 3 years.

To repeat, because that hater in Mill Valley will misconstrue everything:

I would love to see Bynum do better. The premise seems to be that other
Lakers need to decline/sacrifice their game in order for Bynum to do
better. I don't agree that the aforementioned Lakers will decline &/or
sacrifice their game. Yes, it is a team sport. The Lakers have gone to the
finals 3 times in a row utilizing the attributes of Kobe & Pau. What would
the logic be in asking them to sacrifice their game?

Imagine this conversation:

MJ, I know we just won back-to-back titles with your superior play.
However, we were wondering if you can tone it down a bit. We think
Bill Cartwright has a great mismatch and we want to focus more on that
in the coming season.

Does that *really* make any sense to you?

Ron. Its leaking, we need someone to go out and plug that hole. The water is deep, the currrents are strong, lightning is all around....you can do it! Go for it Ron!"Posted by: Fatty | July 27, 2010 at 08:45 AM

WAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! STOP IT! STOP IT NOW! WHAHAHAHHAHA! OH SWEET JESUS! Lightning all around..hahahhahha!

MJ, I know we just won back-to-back titles with your superior play. However, we were wondering if you can tone it down a bit. We think Bill Cartwright has a great mismatch and we want to focus more on that in the coming season.

LMAO!!

Fatty,

We have another competition for Shannon, Cavs are in and they want to load their line up with Byron Scott type of a player. After Sessions, they focus on SB, so Lakers have two stiff competitors Bulls and Cavs. Maybe, just maybe the Shannon Brown haters will have their field day by the end of the week. The love lost on Farmar is extended to hate gain on Shannon.

Speaking of love lost and hate gain, I think I was a little bit harsh last night in ejecting Phred on bloggers I don't want to be with. After sleeping it overnight and reading the inspirational posts of PG & R as well as Laker Mike, perhaps the passion got entangled with personal biases. I confess I have a jaundice eye on Phred's self aggrandizing posts which are encapsulated in form of jokes; ever since I learned from Kblitz that he was responsible in maneuvering to take Mike T. out from the blog. MT was banned from posting after taking the bait of Phred's philosophical banter and the ex-con lost his steam and coolness. How can we associate ourselves with love, when he just put down a well known devil-jester who is loved by many. Anyway, I would rather move on than be a Superman in trying to solve all blog's problems. To everyone I apologize for interrupting the free wheeling discussions.

Mamba24 - funny you should ask. We were going to go last night, until hubby flooded the kitchen. Then all bets were off. Posted by: justanothermambafan | July 27, 2010 at 09:17 AM

Oh Mamba24 - need you even ask? Hubby started it - hubby cleaned it up. I was upstairs relaxing with the kitties!

JustAnotherMambaFan have you ever seen the movie Inception? I have a specific reason for asking this question depending upon if you saw it or not.

Posted by: Mamba24 | July 27, 2010 at 09:05 AM

It's a good movie. I didn't expect it to be good just by looking at the previews. Loved that I was wrong.

"I would love to see Bynum do better. The premise seems to be that other
Lakers need to decline/sacrifice their game in order for Bynum to do
better. I don't agree that the aforementioned Lakers will decline &/or
sacrifice their game. Yes, it is a team sport. The Lakers have gone to the
finals 3 times in a row utilizing the attributes of Kobe & Pau. What would
the logic be in asking them to sacrifice their game?"

Same here but so far Bynum hasn't changed from an offensive oriented center to a more defensive oriented center. Of course he doesn't have Howard's hops but if he really put his mind to it he can. He did have 7 blocks in one game so the potential is there. The consistency still has to be there but he is capable of it and he has 2-3 years left on his contract to prove me wrong which I hoped last season he would be so far he hasn't.

As for you Hogan. I keep saying it but unless Kobe takes down his Shot Attempts (and past trends he won't take it below 20 FGA) then Bynum won't even average 18 ppg . Remember how Gasol was whining about touches? Well he is going to want touches and was averaging around 12 FGA before Kobe sat out so it is very unlikely that he will want it even less. Then you got the rest of the team who needs touches. Should we increase the pace more just to create more touches and focus less on our defense?

That wouldn't be a bad idea if Trevor was here still instead of Artest since Trevor really flourishes in a high pace game.

And again Hogan rebounding. Odom has been the best rebounder since 04-05 season. He's still in his prime. Gasol is a good rebounder too and even before his large increase in rebounds this year (from 9.6 to 11.3 which is impressive) was a good rebounder. Both Odom and Gasol are superior rebounders to Bynum who only had a 0.3 increase in rebounds from the 08-09 season despite having a 2 minutes increase in overall average playing time.

So kind of optimistic numbers there. The more real numbers assuming people stay healthy should be 15.5ppg and 8.5rpg from Bynum. Plus I would really like Bynum to at least get back to 2.0 blks a game again. Ever since his breakout season of 07-08 his blocks has decreased to 1.8blk last year to 1.5 this year to the point where Gasol has a better shot blocking average. (That is not good). Bynum has a lot to prove this year and actually I'm thinking NEXT NEXT season would be Bynum's to breakout because his contract could end because of the team option and if he hasn't provided the Lakers what they are expecting out of him (more than a role player because he'll be paid the same as Lebron/Wade/Bosh) then who knows about him.

Thanks Hogan.

El Guapooooooooo!!! No - I do NOT think you're an axe murderer. I have moved on. Now I think you may be like the blog family's crazy uncle that no one talks about...
-----------------------------------------------------------

Just because I will drink pretty much anything on bet, or drive nails through boards with my forhead for money, it doesn't make me the crazy uncle...

"ever since I learned from Kblitz that he was responsible in maneuvering to take Mike T. out from the blog"

Huh? Edwin I don't know what you are talking about. I do remember that Mike T. was spamming all those "if Boston wins then I'm right" thing and was insulting people directly that led to his banning. Then MM showed that Mike T. had been banned and people were asking and I let people know that Mike T. was banned.

That's my take about what happened to Mike T. He was a good blogger I heard until his obsession with Kwamay Brown doomed him as nothing more than a Bynum be injured all the time just so his boy kwamay brown can play ( I still remember Mike T. though insulting Magic Johnson and James Worthy on the day Kwamay got traded lol.)

Mamba24 / Blitz - thanks for the recommendation on Inception. Tonight's the night (barring more flooding). Noah - help a sister out, ok?

To Ron: "Nothing personal"

To Mamba24: I want to be in the morning roll call, remember i can "make you an offer you can't refuse"

Posted by: HBMatt | July 27, 2010 at 09:22 AM

HBMatt you need to be an insider to see the article I'll post:

"Los Angeles Lakers

What, you ask, did the Lakers do wrong? Nothing -- in fact, they shored up the point guard spot with Steve Blake and got a tough gamer for peanuts in Matt Barnes. And, of course, they coaxed Phil Jackson to stay on the bench for one more season.

All that would have made the Lakers overwhelming favorites to repeat as champions next season, except for a little thing that went down in Miami. With the Heat looking like a super team, the Lakers find themselves downgraded to co-favorites at best, through no fault of their own.

Had James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh aligned themselves in any other combination with any other team, that wouldn't be the case. Thus, L.A. lost ground this though in narrower terms, it won with the additions of Barnes and Blake.

John Hollinger used an Oxymoron of "lost ground in this though in narrower terms, it won".

Why didn't he simply put as we won by upgrading and lost because Miami is the next favorite after us?

Oxymoron Hollinger (I hope you are reading John).

Oh this is for you Jon K. since it does mention the Clippers as a loser as well (if they aren't already losers):

"Not a great summer for basketball teams in SoCal. While the Lakers' misfortunes were entirely external, in the case of the Clippers, the offseason has been a full-on disaster. L.A. created enough salary-cap room to sign a big-fish free agent to a maximum contract, and walked away with Ryan Gomes and Randy Foye.

Yeesh. While I appreciate the Clippers' efforts to reconstruct the 2008 Minnesota Timberwolves (they also re-signed Craig Smith; can Greg Buckner and Mark Madsen be far behind?), those two additions do little or nothing to improve their prospects for this season.

L.A. added to its woes with a puzzling coaching hire, selecting the barely adequate Vinny Del Negro over the vastly more qualified Dwane Casey. The Clips have some talent, and if Blake Griffin delivers, they might contend for a playoff spot anyway, but they missed out on a glorious opportunity to rise among the elite in the Western Conference. "

As Clipper Darrell would say: U-G-L-Y they don't got no Alibi Jon K.

The other losers are the Timberwolves (yup), the Raptors (Bosh and their other signings like Amir Johnson), the New Jersey Nyets (expecting to hit big but struck out badly), and of course the Cleveland Cavaliers (no explanation needed).

Good day blog crew!

Been out for a while enjoying the summer, but never missed a day to read the blogmunity. And Mamba great roll call as always. Im home due to stomach virus and NBATV is replaying Lakers vs Thunder playoff series. Love watching these two classy teams go at each other. And Kobe just drained a 3! nothing but swiiiiiiiish.

Ron is such a sweetheart, I saw a clip of him being as hospitable, friendly, appreciative of all the love and support he receives from his fellow Queensbridge residents. Such a great misunderstood human being. Im happy that he is getting the respect he truly deserves.

Is it October yet!!! Quite frankly Im tired of the summer heat wave, I just want to bury myself in my oversized hoodie and tore up jeans sippin on my hot cocoa while I watch our Lakers.

I hope everyone's enjoying their summer.

ROFLMAO!! All you had to do was ask Mr. Nano sir! I promise!

KB Blitz,

Well, perhaps I misquoted what u said but I was not here when those discussions took place. Well, from your description that is Mike who will return the insult in also a harsh manner. It's good that words don't lead to body contact which Mike is capable of doing. As a Christian, I believe he doesn't really what he says tho' he won't take an insult in a mild manner.

Anyway, you guys were not here yet when we blog with him every day since Dec. 2005 and sometimes i acted as a referee just to calm him down. He is part of blog's personality and nobody is being banned. Perhaps, they are reprimanded and silenced for a while like KL being removed for a time but came back so with the others. No worries, KB Blitz you are exonerated from the incident and clarified yourself in describing what happened.

Hey J24 sorry you're not feeling well, but at least you can sit back and watch some Laker classics. Yeah this is going to be a Looooooong off-season. But at least it's a long off season as 16 time champions. Imagine how the other teams fans feel. Lol!

re: DC vs Marvel.

For y'all DC fans, are y'all remembering the comics or looking at the movies?

Supes is the ultimate goody-two-shoes. ugh.

Batman was far too campy, except for the "Dark Night" graphic novel.

Marvel Baby!

Apocolypse, Galactus, Wolverine, Gambit, Hulk, Magneto & the list goes on.

The dialogue is faaaarrrrrr superior in Marvel.

sidenote: Do any of y'all know about Cerebus the Aardvark, the Earth-Pig born?

Now THAT, is a comic book! The wolveroach was one of the best satire's
ever!

snikt!

Thanks man. lol! I must admit that I enjoy squishing little ants like KB Blitz. The reason fans from other teams dislike the Lakers isn't so much the team itself, but Lakers fans out there like KB Blitz. As Lakers fans, it is in our blood to hate the Celtics but, at the same time, any Lakers fan who hasn't developed a healthy respect for Doc Rivers and what he has to say about certain things isn't an NBA fan at all. His comments make a certain point: that not every thing on the court is reflected on the stat sheet. If there was a statistic for "altered shots," I assure you that Bynum would be right there at the top of the league in that very important aspect of his game. You hear Joel and Stu repeatedly say "the length of Andrew Bynum" during the broadcast of a game and talk about how altering shots is more important than blocking shots. That's what Doc Rivers was talking about.

But no, KB Blitz chooses to ignore those contributions and make it all about Kobe this and Kobe that (as if I don't have just a small appreciation for Kobe Bryant; uh, just look at my moniker). So if he wants to engage in an all out war, he has met his match. By the time I'm done with him, he will go whimpering back to TLN where I am sure he came from and where he belongs with all other childish Lakers fans who don't grasp the simple concepts of "team," "roles," "role players," "sacrifice" and "small contributions." Over at TLN, he will have an orgy. There they do the same thing that he does which is compare Bynum's numbers to players from other teams who barely make the playoffs, don't make the playoffs at all or get nowhere near the NBA Finals. It kills me that he even mentions players like Yao or Andrew Bogut who can't even make it to the finish line, yet he's obsessed with Bynum's history of injuries. Talk about hypocrisy! Here, he will eventually cower into a corner like a beaten puppy and eventually go away.

DC vs Marvel.

Marvel won. These were the results:

Superman over Hulk

Batman over Captain America

Spiderman (Ben Reilly clone) over Superboy

Thor over Captain Marvel

Robin over Jubilaee

Aquaman over Submariner (Aquaman cheated by using a whale).

Flash over Quicksliver

Elekctra over Catwoman

Storm over Wonder Woman

Silver Surfer over Green Lantern

Wolverine over Lobo

Marvel won 6-5.

Besides Living Tribunal>>>Spectre. Enough said about Marvel vs DC

So if he wants to engage in an all out war, he has met his match

I've been here far longer than you so you do more than amuse me. You and your "potential" on Andrew Bynum yet Bynum has even reach to be an All-Star, an All-NBA team and you think you are some beast here in the LA times blog. Did Laker Nation kick you out? I'm sure Lakersground did too and Forum Blue and Gold. How is Real Deal from Laker Nation? Did he ban you there?

You say you want to squish me? How old are you? 13? Lots of us here are mature fans and the immature ones like DFish are quickly squashed. Very nice sign of your maturity.

If you want a war I'm ok with that. Even Laker Tom and I have a good history together despite our obvious disagreements with Andrew Bynum. But if you really want to act immature about this go ahead. I don't lose sleep over it either.

Mamba, so the Percocet & Vodka ... does that mean you are happy about the possibility of us looking at TMac, or you are against it?

Mamba, so the Percocet & Vodka ... does that mean you are happy about the possibility of us looking at TMac, or you are against it? Posted by: PurpleHeart | July 27, 2010 at 10:15 AM

After 4 percoset...Both! LMAO!!

@PurpleHeart, Just playing with ya. Naw, we The Freakin LA Lakers. If we get him cool, if we don't cool. I keep telling you all this season is destiny. There is no way we don't win the title. To many things coming into conjunction at the same time. I don't think there has ever been another occasion where so many things were on the line. Phils 4 3 peats, Kobe & Fish's 6 Rings, Lakers tie Celtics for most titles. It's destiny. As Laker Tom says, This is going to be a season for the ages and I tend to agree. So TMac or no TMac...WE GOT THIS!!!

"If there was a statistic for "altered shots," I assure you that Bynum would be right there at the top of the league in that very important aspect of his game."

LOL. You obviously miss that Dwight is at the top of the league in that category and there has been better shot blockers than Bynum the last two years who altered shots as well.

Here's scenario that you can even understand about how Bynum's defense as much as he is a factor isn't what you hyped up to be: Put Bynum in Orlando and do you think the Magic will be a force defensively? Most NBA Fans would chose No. The Magic has Jameer Nelson/Vince Carter/Quentin Richardson/Rashard Lewis that make up the rest of their roster and do they spark fear in any team defensive wise? No. In fact if Bynum was on the Magic they would be complaining about their perimeter defense and how they are bad while the Lakers have so much defensive weapons to stop teams aside from Bynum (having Bryant/Artest/Ariza(in the past) ring a bell? Dwight made the Magic into a good defensive team no way would they be as good if they replaced him with Bynum or even let Gortat (who is a good shot blocker) at center.

Besides you have done nothing but show me "Doc Rivers said" or "Kareem has said". Look at the court. The Lakers had a WINNING record in 08-09 when Bynum was injured. When Kobe and Gasol were healthy they won big time! Winning in Boston against a healthier Celtic squad without Bynum, breaking the Cavaliers 23 home game record and limiting Lebron to 5-20 shooting night (who can really do that besides Kobe?) and winning 7 games on the road without Bynum. Do you wish to ignore that as well?

The last two titles proved that Bynum didn't need to be fully force to win titles. Yet hyping up his "length" when the Lakers as a TEAM held the Celtics to what to two 17 point quarters in Game 7 all with Bynum playing very little.

Two finals showed you don't need Bynum to be fully healthy to win a title. Yet you give more credit to him and his presence on the bench more than even almost anyone is willing to admit.

That's why Bynum was calling Fisher "Daddy" and hugging Fisher after Game 3.

And he's being paid as much as LBJ/D-Wade/Bosh doesn't that ring a bell that he should be playing on their level instead of the role player that he is? Obviously you keep hyping "length" instead of actual wins.

But enough. I don't wish to engage you because simply I don't want to start another heated debate that really bothers this blog. You want to act all immature about this and "squashing ants" yet ignore that 1) Bynum has been the least effect of the starting Lakers in both titles and 2) You have stated that no team in the 2000's won without a good center yet almost every team save for the Shaq-Kobe Lakers and the Heat 06 did NOT have a center that was a scoring option.

Try to act a bit more mature can you?

@JustAnotherMambaFan, Are you sure you have not performed an Interception on my dreams? Lol!

"Aim for his head! He's a visitor and we don't want to hurt him!"

"I've been here far longer than you so you do more than amuse me."

What's your point? Every forum needs people like you to keep them interesting. Because you've been here "far longer" than me, that gives you more credibility? Yeesh. In my short time here, I've demonstrated a far deeper understanding of the Lakers and why they are back-to-back champions than you have in your eternity in this forum as you cling to your dislike of Bynum while the Lakers reel off championships with him as their starting center. What is your recollection of '08? That we got killed by the Chowds or that we were actually in 5 of those games? Perhaps Bynum would have made a difference and perhaps he wouldn't have, but the Lakers are 2-0 in the NBA Finals since then with him as the starting center.

By the way, I'm curious. What do you think of Phil Jackson?

"If you want a war I'm ok with that. Even Laker Tom and I have a good history together despite our obvious disagreements with Andrew Bynum."

I wouldn't know about your history with LT, but I can only guess what he actually thinks about you. Every forum needs its Godfather or Voice of Reason and admittedly Laker Tom fits that personality, while I don't. However, I am neither a pom-pom waver like some or a Hater like others (you). If you are paranoid about Andrew Bynum having a future in this league marred by injuries, that is one thing. But to lack a basic understanding of what he brings to this team is an entirely different matter and that is where your basketball fan IQ falls way short and your stubbornness is unacceptable.

By the way, you started this war and if you expect everyone to back down from your degrading posts or simply ignore you because they file you away in their file cabinet reserved for trolls, forget it. If you want to set this aside and discuss the Lakers without getting contentious, I have an open mind. But until you stop your mocking, condescending, belittling ways, I will meet you with excessive force, if necessary.

@JustAnotherMambaFan, Thats Inception. See its' that durn Vodka! lol!

KobeMVP888 and KB Blitz,

Can't we all just get along?

And if not, then can't we all just get a long board?

And if not, then can't we all just get a long board? SURF'S UP!!!!!Posted by: LongTimeLakerFan | July 27, 2010 at 10:45 AM

OH SWEET JESUS!!! hahahahhaha!

MY GOD!!!! If this is what happens when your team wins the Championship, I sure hate to see what shape all the other teams fans are in,

"What is your recollection of '08? That we got killed by the Chowds or that we were actually in 5 of those games? "

The latter. Without Bynum no less. A reason Kobe-Pau is the best tandem in the league not Bynum-Gasol.

"By the way, I'm curious. What do you think of Phil Jackson?"

Greatest Coach of All Time. Made Jordan and Kobe and Shaq into winners as the go to guys on their team. Sad he's going to retire after next season. He made the right decisions in the face of fans (I supported every decision except him not putting Kobe in Chauncey in 04 a decision he later regretted too). Tell me did you like that he benched Bynum in Game 2 after Nene got a 3 point play on Kobe because Bynum was annoyed he didn't get the ball? Or who ended up being right when Bynum complained to the media about his PT in the 09 playoffs while Jackson stated "He needs to play better defense." Or when Bynum stated "I'm going to love facing the Celtics" in the middle of the WCF series when Jackson stated a "Brain Fart" on Bynum's part.

"If you are paranoid about Andrew Bynum having a future in this league marred by injuries, that is one thing."

I said this to Laker Truth who has stated about Bynum's injury thing:

"I wouldn't worry about injuries. It's part of the game".

Obviously you chose to ignore that and keep saying I"m paranoid about his injury history when I"m not. Now that's hypocrisy.

"But to lack a basic understanding of what he brings to this team is an entirely different matter and that is where your basketball fan IQ falls way short and your stubbornness is unacceptable."

Again won the Finals MVP, who even got some votes for Finals MVP, and who ended up being the bigger factor?

If it was Bynum who got some votes I wouldn't even be debating.

Again I bring up facts and statistics that show how Bynum's game is not to mention saving every Laker game on Tivo. Yes gets points here and there but do you see other games when Laker games are not on? Or watch other NBA games before Laker games? I'm an NBA fan just as I'm a Laker fan and I can say that you complain about me about an NBA fan yet I've seen the NBA through non biased Laker example. Most NBA fans would never call Patrick Ewing overrated.

"If you want to set this aside and discuss the Lakers without getting contentious, I have an open mind. "

Then back your arguments with empirical proof instead of saying "Kareem says this boy has the potential to be great" or "Doc Rivers says Bynum didn't get enough credit". Yes that's what they said but if DJ Mbenga said that Jordan Farmar is the best PG in the league would that be right? What is done on the court is what matters. That's why I can prove that Wade has a good mid range jumper even though people keep saying he sucks at shooting. That's why I can disagree with MJ that Lebron isn't as good in a half court set. And that's why I can see at the time being Bynum is at best a second fiddle as his fullest potential instead of a dominant center even if KB and PG were not there to take away FGA.

Consistency is what matters to Bynum. If he averaged 15ppg and never got below 10ppg then he is consistent. Yet after the Boston game where he was in clutch time situations he had a bad 5 point 8 rebound game against Memphis.

"But until you stop your mocking, condescending, belittling ways, I will meet you with excessive force, if necessary. "

How would you do that though? Come over to my house and hit me a bat? lol.

Hey, he started it so I threw down the gauntlet and now I'm extending the olive branch. He needs to quit his condescending, belittling ways, that's all. I'm fine with anyone as long as they are civil. Fair enough?

Fine we both will lay the olive branch deal?

Kobe to Kobe

I would pay good money to watch the Lakers and Celtics play a spirited game of dodgeball.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!
