what's to discuss about Bell? Utah offered a stink-load of money. next...

Exactly - next.

Can we move on to other topics than nearly washed up guards who have no championships and clothesline their opponents in fits of jealousy?

Staples 24 -

It still all comes down to chemistry and PJ has brewed up some awfully good stuff.

If Miami is not careful, they could mix or match the wrong things with them egos and it could all explode in their faces.

I will admit, they have some prime ingredients, but it will take them some playoff time in the lab to get their experiment to work.

Blake=White power

Hey, from watching him in Summer League, DeMarcus Cousins could be an absolute beast. Seriously. I think given enough playing time, he could potentially be better than Bynum... BY THIS SEASON.

And no, I'm not joking.

But there's a difference between playing against Summer League competition and against real NBA players. When October comes around, he might not look quite so beastly.

Oh, by the way...

Both DeMarcus Cousins and the Lakers' own Derrick Caracter have more developed post games than Dwight Howard.

Let's be realistic with all our wishes. I will play the role of Jerry Buss

Kobe 24.8M
Pau 17.8
Drew 13.8
Odom 8.2
RonA 6.3
Sasha 5.4
Luke 5.2
Blake 4.0
Fisher 3.7
Brown 3.5 (?)

Total 92.7M

Note: We can still add three more players.

Luxury threshold 70M
Luxury estimated luxury taxes for the Lakers 22.7M
Total payroll for 10 players - 115.4M

Comment: You guys want TMac, Raja Bell, Shaun Livingston, Darren Collison, Kurt Thomas and so forth, etc. Are you playing with Monopoly Money? It is my money, Jerry Buss money that we are talking about. Therefore, stop dreaming.

I have asked Mitch to go to the end of the universe and find players who will divide the 1.8M or 3.6M in my treasury and divide it among themselves. Any multiple year contract years similar to Raja, Luke, Fisher and this time Shannon forgetaboutit. It's the Buss money you are all chatting on the blog. You don't even pay for your parking tickets. LMAO!

LTLF,

">>>My guess is Caracter, Ebanks to wind it up.

I'll agree with those two. I'm betting a bench big for the third player. Preferably someone who can play center."

Conventional wisdom says the right 13th player is a back up Center. But, TO ME THAT IS WRONG.

Let me explain why?

Lakers are going to the Finals with or without a BACK UP CENTER like Mbenga! Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Caracter can get us to the Finals. Mbenga did not even play in the playoffs last year.

So, WHAT THE LAKERS SHOLD BE PREPARING IS THE FINALS!!! Not the regular season games or a balance roster!!!

NBA FINALS MATCH UP!!!! with MIAMI HEAT !!! is a real consideration! Let's face it!

What is the strentgh of MIAMI HEAT? We will face them in the Finals!!! JAMES and WADE is what the LAKERS SHOLD BE PREPARING FOR RIGHT NOW. BIG PERIMETER BODIES, almost untoppable duo... that can do it all.

Put the ball on the floor, attack the basket, shoot mid range, shoot 3's, fast break, dunks, drive and dish, rebound, dfend, NAME IT THIS TWO HAS IT!

How many times have we heard defense wins championships.

How many times have we heard Lakers have enough offensive fire power?

Lakers weakness has always been defense.

MIAMI"S strength THREE perimeter unstoppable players LEBRON, WADE AND MILLER!

What is Laker's weakness? perimeter dfense!

WHAT DO WE NEED AGAIN? A back up CENTER? I DID NOT THINK SO!!!

That is why I thought TONY ALLEN's defensive prowess on KOBE BRYANT WHO SIGNED with Grizzlies for 10 MIL three years... Would have been a BIG HELP defensively for the Lakers!!! We MISSED OUT IN THIS BIG TIME!!!

Lakers focused too much on Fisher and Brown, maybe!

Blake, Thought is already in Fisner's category, solid vet and better paser and lay maker than Fish, probably better shooter and dfender too.

Sasha is a poor man's Blake and Fisher.

Aside from Ron Artest, who can easily get in foul trouble guarding JAMES in the Finals, Kobe will be asked tohelp on James after running around on Wade. Kobe could get in foul trouble himself with Wade.

LAKERS WILL BE in BIG TORUBLE? Luke and Sasha off the bench for James and Wade in teh FINALS!!! C'mon people!!!

THINK!!!

Next Post: Lakers sign Brown and MBenga!!!!!

**** THE INDIVIDUAL FORMERLY KNOWN AS MAMBA24 WILL ADDRESS ANY ISSUES ANY ONE HAS WITH HIM TOMMOROW BEFORE I LEAVE THIS BLOG FOR GOOD. SUFFICE IT TO SAY I DID NOT TAKE KINDLY TO MY DAUGHTER BEING CALLED OUT OF HER NAME WITH NO PROVOCATION ON HER PART OTHER THAN PLAYING AROUND WITH HER FATHER PUTTING RELATIVES ON A BAND WAGON. IF FATHER TAKING UP FOR HIS DAUGHTER IS GROUNDS FOR BANISHMENT. I SAY IN ADVANCE I'M SORRY FOR ANY I OFFENDED, I SAY ALSO IF THE SAME SITUATION OCCURED IN THE SAME WAY I WOULD RESPOND IN THE SAME WAY. THAT'S WHAT A MAN DOES. AGAIN MY APOLOGIES. I guess this will be grist for all kind of Drama Punk and Drama Queen jokes. Well naw, it was neither Drama Punk or Drama Queen it was a Father protecting his Daughter thing. If you can't understand that I pity you. SORRY LAKER BLOG YOU DESERVED BETTER THAN THIS. For those who had my back I thank you, but I don't deserve it because as I said you deserve better than that and so do my beloved Lakers & Laker Nation. FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART LAKER NATION I APOLOGIZE. TILL TOMORROW

Larry Holiway

MM,

Is it true that you banned Mamba24, Mike T. and Jon K comments on Lebron?

Well, we have an automatic posting here. Once in a while, we get off board because of youth's exuberance and overbearing personalities. It best that posts should be edited before being posted, perhaps a delay than being banned for irresponsible deeds. Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes you don't know the boundary of what is reasonable statement or not. I believe that is the price of freedom of speech in automatic posting.

I wish you don't ban anybody but just clarify your rules, your laws and keep reminding everyone to adhere on it. I defied LakerTom before in banning KL. Let this blog grow than removing people. The people mentioned above contributed immensely to the growth of this blog. Nobody here is perfect.

Larry:
1- We are full of trolls around here, i thought that "happenning" was one of them also. Anybody can make a mistake -somebody thinking that was a troll, or you taking it personal- we need to go forward. We all make mistakes.
2- Arriba el ánimo hermano!! Te mando fuerza desde muy lejos!!
3- BOSTON SUCKS!!! BOSTON SUCKS!!! BOSTON SUCKS!!!

GO LAKERS!!!

"Both DeMarcus Cousins and the Lakers' own Derrick Caracter have more developed post games than Dwight Howard."

I thought so too. Caracter is also much better than Powell and Mbenga combined. Mbenga and Powell won't play like that not even in summer league, dominating the paint four straight games! Commanding double team.

I really wish we still had Turiaf. He was a good big for us, and a great teammate.

We could also really reload this team if we could trade Lamar for a few pieces like a shooter and maybe a slasher. Problem is, it's been Lamar and Gasol as our frontline in both finals we just won. Lamar in essence is our starting power forward in clutch moments. It's always Odom and Gasol in the 4th. And as a PF he does so much that other PFs can't do, like run and jump.

If we can get actual, sustained minutes from the Bynum / Gasol frontline, then we can start to dream about Lamar's value in a trade. And I'm one who believes that he's a desirable piece for a championship team. If Turkaglu and his bloated contract can find a home, Lamar can be traded.

I'll keep an eye on Caracter, too. If he developes, who knows, maybe he becomes a regular at the PF position. Were that to happen, we'd have an awsome trade chip cash in.

Wes

Nice article in the Orange County Registar written by Keving Ding about Steve Blaker.

Blake is going to teach us this year how Farmar's cockiness was undeserved.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

I still think Matt Barnes could be a nice fit, we can offer a little more than Miami, or Boston, and he has proven to be a nice defender with an outside shot. He is not coming off an injury like Bell or McGrady and his wife would love to soak up some L.A. lights. As for the remaining spots; Ebanks for sure, maybe Caracter. But why not sign a Josh Powell or Joe Smith? Great locker room guys and practice players.

Can someone please explain to me what happened with Larry/Mamba24? I read his post today and am more confused than ever. Yesterday was a crazy day that threw the whole blog out of whack, and I honestly cannot say I understand what happened.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has more knowledge than I on the subject.

Larry or Mamba24,

You are better person than that I read on the post. You get into situations, get emotional and could not handle the slings of arrows lodged against you. It is all but fun whether drama king, blog elder, and other name calling. You should just lie low and treat the blog as an entertainment. You are still the soul of the blog and I don't know whether we will be happy posting here on a lazy summer without your entertainment.

Sometimes, we all get overbounds with our expression of opinions. We forget what is offensive to the other human being reading our posts. You know what, let's all go back to the Lakers. Talk about the players, the coach, the organization because that is the subject matter of the blog. It is not about us, about our family, if those are mentioned they are only sidelines or spices of the blog. The blog is still about public figures who made b2b and now aiming for 3peat.

I think you should take a hike, take a vacation, cool down on a fishing trip and if you guys declare that you're truly lakerholic then come back during preseason. Once the roster is completed, let's take a timeout. An empty talk is the workhorse of the devil. There is nothing relevant that we can add on fantasy blogging.

Hobbitmage,

"Staples24,

you gave this lineup: BigZ, Haslem, James, Miller, Chalmers

my response: Actually, that's not a bench. As of right now, I believe
Big Z would be the starting C, James the starting SF & Chalmers the
starting PG."

Did you not put Gasol as bench player? So why not James?
I am pretty sure James and Wade will not sit both at the same time, do You?

BIG Z, will come off the bench. Because PITTMAN is like PERKINS, young, big and strong. He is a bully already in summer league, I saw him pushing naturally like Perkins does.

Chalmers or Jason Williams will start, who knows?

Miami just need role players to start with the big three. But in the 4th quarter, you can bet HASLEM AND MILLER will be there with them. Not Chalmers or Big Z.

Larry/Mamba24...

Nothing is unforgiveable. Certainly not some heated cyber comments. I forgive you. Find it in your heart to forgive yourself. You mean a lot to all of us. You've made us smile and have uplifted our spirits when we were down. Your spirituality and wisdom have helped some of us get through tough times. Forgive yourself, Larry. You deserve it.

"Both DeMarcus Cousins and the Lakers' own Derrick Caracter have more developed post games than Dwight Howard."

Ltlf,

There you have it, Gasol and Charcater is gtrat combo to play when Bynum goes to the bench and Lakers still has Odom sitting while Bynum is getting rest.

If we still need a big, it should for the 14th or 15th spot. You know my stance on 12 and 13th spot.

Puddle, I'm equally puzzled on all these vaudeville. I grew up in this blog with Mike T and KL so I believe I have witnessed the worst part of blogging. Is it about the TMac bandwagon? Can somebody give us a summary of what transpired yesterday? We are puzzeld by dazzling moves of Mamba24, MM, Rick Friedman, Justa....what were the issues?

It is way too late for DWade to start back tracking on the impressions he and his teammates have made in this past week or so. We've all heard this quote: "The Lakers are the champions and we know the Lakers are very good," Wade told the Associated Press on Wednesday. "That's the team that everyone's shooting for and they should be. Not the Miami Heat."

Trouble is, you've already been lifted on stage by hydrolics like they do in some ring ceremonies and you've already had LeBron predict seven titles in six years. You've already had Bosh and LeBron posing and strutting on stage like they are the rightful champions of someting.

After that HUGE welcoming ceremony that had more dramatics than the Laker's ligitimate ring ceremony, the world will be gunning for you. They literally tried to usurp the Celtics eastern conf championship and the Lakers NBA championship by believing and acting like signing players is enough to make them legitimate champions. It doesn't work like that guys, if it did, LeBron would already be a ring bearer.

Every tream in the NBA will want to beat the Heat now, and they aren't even champions. Not a smart way to begin their time together, and I thing they'll actually see quite a few whoopings in the 1st year especially.

Wes

Perimeter Defenders: Matt Barnes or Rasual Butler?!?!

Geez Mamba24, You can't be serious about leaving the blog!!!!!!!It won't be the same and I might not even get on here as much. I love your imput and we would totally MISS those BANDWAGON'S. Please rethink and come back I really didn't see anything wrong. Just strange things going the whole day. We are all Lakers and we must unite, we're going to need it for 2011.

ME TOO!!!!!

"Blake is going to teach us this year how Farmar's cockiness was undeserved."

I believe that too. I think he might do more than that, he will open our eyes, how long we have not had a real point guard who likes to set the table for his teammates and shoot hogh efficiency ball. Not just Farmar but Brown, Sasha and Fisher included.

Blake is the guy we all been waiting for and Mitch knows it from long time ago!

What happened last night with Mamba bandwagon

Someone put me on it, please. On the outside looking, and I want in.

Edwin Gueco/puddle/Magic Phil,

I have no idea what happened yesterday. I'd love a summary of the drama.

Methinks the heat created a kind of blogmunity-wide sunstroke and everyone went bonkers.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

Magic Phil, to all of the participants and accessories to the event leading to today's post, nobody wants to volunteer his take and tell us the story. I tried to review the past postings I don't see any problem except for playing with each other just like kids on toy named TMac. I have seen more trouble watching little kids claiming for their toys, get mad, bawl and tell Mommy about it andMommy admonished the aggressive boy or girl by asking to take timeout and go to the corner, afterawhile he comes back and play again as if nothing has happened. What about if grown ups act as kids? I guess that is more difficult to understand, they have egos, emotional outburst and freedom to walk out. lol! On wishful thinking, if you cannot get what you wish, you should enjoy what you have. Move on to the next journey.

Fallacious argument... the Knicks ALSO refused to play Nate Robinson

When someone does something they are embarrassed about, the best thing to do, for them, is to forget it and let it go.

Time heals all wounds.

"Staples 24 -

It still all comes down to chemistry and PJ has brewed up some awfully good stuff.

If Miami is not careful, they could mix or match the wrong things with them egos and it could all explode in their faces.

I will admit, they have some prime ingredients, but it will take them some playoff time in the lab to get their experiment to work."

I agree with you. Just remebr one thing. Pat Riley and the Miami Heat organization is not new to this thing. They have done it before just recently actuall lie 2006.

Wade and Shaq did it in 2006. With new hires like Posey, Jason Williams, Payton, etc, etc. So, don't be fooled too much by chemistry, Lebron and Bosh is much easier to get along than Shaq and Payton. Haslem, Miller and Big Z are all nice character guys.

I do not see any chemisrty issues with this team. Besides Wade took the least money, Lebron and Bosh sacrificed too. Their chemistry is already on the right track. Isn't it? Guys who will come in will have a lot of respect for them, they know being role players with a chance to win a ring, these guys Lebron/Wade/Bosh gave money away to sign them.

What more can you ask from your SUPERSTARS?

No disrespect to Kobe, but if he chooses to get paid less during his ocnract extension, we could have BELL AND BARNES alreday in the line up. With the right timing maybe Kobe would have done it. Who knows?

Bell and Tone Allen both signed for only 3 mil a year and LAKERS CAN NOT AFFORD IT. How much does Kobe makes, he could easily spare 1 mil for the signing of both players? Buss willing to pay them 2 mil but not 3 mil. You see how ! mil makes a big difference? and kobe makes 30 MIL a year. You can have a WADE AND JAMES for that kind of money.

Someone called Mamba/Larry's daughter out of her name???

MM, you gotta give him a pass for that. Trust and believe, if any of these trolls does that to Mini Banner Holderette, the Chaplain robe is coming off and it's ON!

Larry/Mamba: I've jokingly threatened to call Mama Banner Holder and get her mighty Belt Of Justice everytime you've threatened to leave the Blog. This time, no jokes & no threats. Please stay with us. You are indeed our heart and soul. As others have suggested, take the summer off and recharge your batteries and we'll see you in October.

As far as I'm concerned, all is forgiven. I hope my fellow Blog Patriarchs agree with my assessment.

Art-Fl Laker fan,

Perhaps, you can tell us more of the story of embarrassment before we let it go. Even in the Superior court, a fool is entitled to tell his story. The blog participants are evasive and seem to avoid adding fuel into fire. Apologize for what?

Edwin / puddle / Magic Phil / Jon K / etc etc etc....

The real story is not worth repeating. It will only serve to make some people look bad, and make others look like those people who can't get enough of the gossip (to their own detriment).

Suffice it to say that apologies have been made, and happenings have been forgiven.

If we can all just stick to the Lakers, our blog lives can continue in a happy manner. Our real lives should be left alone. I think that's what we all really want anyways, isn't it?

So......... Steve Blake seems to be happy to be here. That's the kind of guys we want. Ones who will be proud to join THE premier winning franchise, and can contribute both on and off the court. I said I was pro Bell because Kobe said he wanted him, and whatever the Kobester wants is cool by me. Now that Bell has taken his talents to Utah, then I say enjoy your money. Enjoy your family. But sorry bud - you'll never sniff a ring. And if that's cool with you, then good.

Larry/Mamba24,

I too don't really understand what happened yesterday, looked like some trolls posing as other posters to me maybe---and maybe that's how those that responded saw it to, I don't know...

BUT I do know that you are indeed the heart and soul of this blog and you will be surely missed, especially by me...

hope you can keep the faith brother...

AND REMEMBER:

AS ALWAYS, AS EVER, YET ANOTHER GREAT DAY (AND BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON) TO BE A LAKER FAN !!!

GO LAKERS !!!

Staples 24: Your GUNNER horns are showing...

In my humble (Ok sometimes not so humble) opinion what we need to finish off our 2010 roster is Barnes and Mbenga.

Both are tough and toughness is what we'll need when we play whoever comes out of the East this year be it Miami or the Celtics. Barnes would be great for some minutes at the 2 and 3 and giving Kobe more rest. He backs down from no one and comes the closest to Artest-like defense of anyone in his price range. Plus he can shoot the three too.

Mbenga is the best 3rd string center in the NBA. I was at the game last year in November when both Drew and Pau were sidelined and DJ started and got a double double. Yeah he fouls a lot, but if he's only playing 10-12 minutes who cares? If either Pau or Drew or Lamar goes down for any length of time we need a tough backup who knows the triangle. Plus there are days when his midrange jump shot is actually better than Sasha's.

I know what happened but I wont tell. Justa how selfish of you.

I think Miami is going to be a dynamite team next year and even may lead the league in W's.

They may start off a bit slow until they figure out everyone's role/place, get used to each others movements, etc, but they have the potential to get on a major role.

After 82 games, by playoff time they should have their act together.

I still don't like them, but they have a team built for the regular season and the playoffs.

If we're lucky they go into a slump and start pointing fingers and back biting, but I sure wouldn't count on that.

The Cavs had the best record last year with James and a weaker supporting cast than Miami has this coming year.
And with somewhat less pressure on Labron this year, that team may fly.

I look forward to the first game the Lakers/Heat play, it will probably be hyped like crazy.

From what I'm seeing on the free agent market........

The players are very concerned with the coming lock out and new CBA.

Years are very important, as well as the amount. With the owners wanting to drive down costs and limit salary risks in the new CBA, everyone wants to lock in some of the old CBA money rules.

Blakes signing seems to be just below his market value, but the added year of security, plus, playing for his dream team sealed the deal.

This guy could be the prefect fit for the Lakers. As Mitch said, we brought him in to back up Fisher, then take over his role as time goes by. Our FO thinks a lot of him.

A starting point guard, on a Championship team, for only $4 million and 4 years to me could be a real bargain in the long run.

Raja Bell would have been a nice piece, but no where near as valuable as bringing in our needed point guard replacement.

Fatty - Who really hopes Luke can return healthy, because if he doesn't, we will need Lamar to back up Artest some, and LO doesn't have the shot to do that.

30 mil a year for Bryant and Odom got a huge paycut worth 7 mil after Odom showed big in the 08 and 09 playoffs without Bynum.

You think Odom is pumped up about it? Chemistry issues are well hidden in Lakernation, maybe? Jordan Farmar making 1.8 Mil? and Sasha 5 mil? Whose got more talent Jordan or Sasha, That's right Farmar!

If Artest gets comfortable with the triangle and becomes a big hit in Lakers like he did in game 7. TWO RINGS later after 2011, Artest maybe complaining how cheap the lakers had him at 5 MIL. Compared to Luke Walton.

The Truth - you see it as selfish. I see it as taking the high road & moving on... :)

potato / potahtoe

MM - were you trying to stir up controversy, or do you really feel that Bell's priorities were misplaced? I think taking guaranteed money may not be as selfish as you made it sound. Especially for a player of his caliber. He's not a high end guy, and maybe he needs this contract?

Ok Bell is gone so we can drop all conversations about him and move on now. What is the 411 on TMac? Was he going to put on a "pro day" for the Clippers scouts? Why wouldnt any Laker scouts check him out? Any ways if he does become a Clipper who should we go after then? I would love to have a defensive minded player to play D on those chumps in Miami. Like Nas797 said, Rasual Butler or Matt Barnes would be a great help on the defensive side for us. Should we go after one of these two? Or is there sumone better out there that can help this Championship team out?

Edwin,

While I was on the blog at the time yesterday, I did not participate.

I see no point in continuing the discussion further.

Please let it go.

Suffice it to say that apologies have been made, and happenings have been forgiven.

If we can all just stick to the Lakers, our blog lives can continue in a happy manner. Our real lives should be left alone. I think that's what we all really want anyways, isn't it?

=======================

Amen justa!

Nicely put.

Justa,

I remember those first posts in this blog, you can find them in the archives Jon K, Mike T, Cbuck, Vman nobody was discussing about their family life. It is all about the Lakers. From time to time, the cuckoo, mike t goes beserk and drag along the family but it's all cool. However, when chat started, I noticed all those social topics about dating, about personalities of bloggers etc. Once in a while some of us make comments and we are accused as "oldies" maybe that's the truth, we are old in some ideas because we're aware of uncanny results of talking about himself or his family not related to the Lakers. We have experienced such event that leads to nowhere. Everytime summer comes, there are problems in the blog due to inactivity. I wish MM should devote more educational trade about the EuroBasket, the activities of laker scouts, what consist of the front office and their little biographies like Bill Bertka, John Black, Gary Vitti perhaps something worthwhile to talk about than going with fantasies and fanatical wishful thinking that leads to witch hunt. This blog is out of control. You don't have to register to blog. There is automatic postings. Again we have "old" concepts in blogging. Can you avoid irresponsible postings in that scenario?

Mamba24
What's going on?

Cölöradö löves öür Mamba24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Edwin - are you saying that I've been posting irresponsibly? Or are you asking is it possible for all of us to avoid doing that? I'm just trying to see where I stand here, because I'm feeling sensitive after yesterday's craziness....

@ "I Bleed Purple and Gold - you are so right!!! we need to scout TMAC asap....

@ nas797 - we dont need matt barnes.. what is he good for? shooting? defense? post?

i would love to know... why we would get him to our team.

Mamba24, Justa

I don't know what happened. Don't need an update, but you guys know how I've rolled with you guys in the past. Let's move on. Just like moving on to the next game.

Warm Regards and back to basketball.

justanothermambafan,

What exactly happened yesterday? I wasn't paying close attention. I just witnessed the aftermath of it.

Edwin Gueco,

The role of the old guard (ourselves included) has evolved to kind of become a security presence among posters. Left to its own devices, especially because of the presence of trolls, people start to become highly cantankerous towards each other, as some people just live to create division.

People like ourselves need to be a stablizing presence and absorb the slings and arrows of the lunatic trolls who live to destroy. Eventually our strength wins out over their gutless negativity.

However, I don't think we need any wholesale changes in the blog. These storms eventually pass.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

GO LAKERS!!!

Justa,

By this time, you should know my style of writing aside from the errors in every post. I address the post to you but the topic is for everyone. It is not irresponsible to talk about socials and families, however this should be done in a face-to-face situation not on written communications. Why? Because we are all anonymous we all relate each other on what was written. There is no body language expressed so we really don't know the real intention of the post whether it is a joke, serious one or being negative. As such misunderstandings occur. I know everyone is guilty on the chat talking about what they did yesterday, about their dates etc. but my concern is that when it goes haywire like what happened yesterday,(we are still blank to tell you the truth) it leads to misinterpretation and misunderstanding and yet we remain anonymous with feelings.

Having said that, I'm not saying you are irresponsible but perhaps you got what I meant when we treat bloggers as public figures.

Whew! Glad I missed out on all the drama.

I would sorely miss you, Mamba/Larry if you weren't around. You're just a great blog mate, flat out.

Well, the Bell drama is over. I'm secretly relieved I don't have to like him. No matter which way I thought about it, I couldn't wrap my brain around him being in the PnG. It's just kind of - for a fan - fundamentally wrong. Disappointed we're losing out on his defensive skills, though.

I still don't want TMac. I'm not sure he could do what Ron did, which was do everything he could to win. He was a great player in his prime, but I have serious reservations about now. But hey, I could be wrong.

Steve Blaker (love LOVE that nick!) is a great pick up. I like his game. He always killed us when he was with Portland. No reason he can't fit right in. And it was cool to read about his martial arts training.

I predict a serious basketball jones this time next week.

GO LAKERS!!!!

MM

can you please tell Kurt Helin not to tweet things that dosnt really concern him... we do want TMAC who cares how he played in New York... im sure his gonna change that whole prospective as soon as he gets in the LAL lineup... i mean think about it.. the guys depressed because they always take him to a team where there is no good players... how is he suppose to play like that??? if his in the lakers lineup... hell sit on the bench and wait to be called on in time of need plus well only spend vets min on him so i say his a steal not even a good deal i mean a steal....

are me and i bleed p n g only ones talking about him so far? everyone said RAJA bell, but he stood up KOBE at a resturant lmao " ESPN Los Angeles' Brian Kamenetzky wasn't surprised that Bell kept Bryant waiting at an Orange County restaurant.

and you guys wanted this guy lmao

JUSTA - justify yourself, your a mamba fan how dose it feel to get flaked on by someone you tried to bring in to the team lmao

justa - I wasn't trying to stir up controversy. You know me. I'm pretty even measured. I understand why he chose Utah. I'm just explaining that if he chose to be with the Lakers he would have the chance to win a ring. Lockout or not, your value goes up after winning a title. Particularly being in L.A., I'd imagine your exposure and endorsement opportunities increase as well

This LAL818 is an incendiary troll disguised as a fan who helped blow up this blog yesterday. He tweaked Larry into uncharacteristic behavior.. and for those who see him as enthusiastic --he seems to me malevolent and agitated.
He did a lot of damage yesterday... he divides and the blog will suffer if he stays..

Can we please get back to the oh-so-agreeable subject of re-signing Kwame Brown? At least that is a subject matter that brings people together.

How do you spell "unity"? Kwame Brown.

GO LAKERS!!!

So in conclusion, if healthy Miami makes it to the Finals the Lakers have a ZERO PERCENT chance of winning if they get lucky enough to make it their, with the current roster they have. Phil is Zenlike so I know he knows all of this and is as smart as me, hopefully for Laker fans he can convince the owner to shake up its roster as that is their only chance of winning it all in what looks like his last year coaching. If I’m wrong I’ll never post again but I’m 110% sure that I’m right so I’ll never not be here. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if you are a Lakers fan. Not interested in hearing any arguments against what I say until after the 2010-2011 season cause I’ve already analyzed any possible retort and my equation trumps all of them effortlessly.

Posted by: Garrett Kall | July 15, 2010 at 12:3

Sorry to break it to you Garrett, but your words mean nothing to me, especially because you're not willing to even hear an argument against them. So this will be my first and last post to you. You simply aren't worth more of my time.

GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!

Let's move on from the DRAMA, Mamba24 is still the "GOD Father" and we all have our bad days. He'll be back in grand fashion with the ROLL CALLS, as we head for the promise land of 3 peat. This to shall past, our conscious is our reality. Take this time my BROTHER and re-charge the batteries, will need all you're energy. Miami is loading up for BEAR, and we are the HUNTED. As Phred says..... "It's ALL ABOUT THE LOVE".

Edwin - I didn't ban Jon K or Mamba24. I banned Mike T because he made statements that were entirely irresponsible and personal toward phred. I did delete some comments Jon K made about LeBron because they went outside the realm of basketball and good taste. However Jon K is not banned. Mamba 24 is still welcome and hasn't posted anything that I've deleted.

As far as your proposal to edit comments, The Times has a strict policy that we don't edit comments because they are someone else's words. Once you get in that area, it's a whole can of worms. So their policy is either the post is appropriate or not appropriate.

I'm starting to moderate comments when I'm up, but I put it on automatic posting when I go to bed or if I'm out in the field. Hopefully that will help rectify some of the idiot trolls that are ruining it for everyone else. Seriously if this stuff continues I will go to moderating posts and please be forewarned that the discussion won't be as fast as it is now.

MM

Jon K, we sign Kwame Brown on condition that he will join the Lakers for FREE. No luxury taxes but just the 13th man who is hungry for a ring. lol! Simply because there is no more poker money in JB's treasury chest.

"Factor in ESPN and the national telling Miami all year they can’t beat the Lakers, it puts Miami’s probability to win the championship off the grid"

That's ass backwards. Next year you're going to see the Lakers without the best record in the L and Miami with the best record. BSPN will run non-stop segments about how awesome the Miami Heat are. When Miami runs over the Lakers on Christmas Day, Laker fans here and around the globe will become near suicidal. Everyone will acknowledge that the Heat are superior and we'll be clamoring for an answer. This will go on a full six months.

Not sure how that factors into your motivation, other than giving the Lakers much more of it.

Ugh Noah, FYI, LAL818 is possible one of my best friends on the blog & definitely not a Troll!

ROFTLMBO @ Edwin. Just don't pass Kwame the O'Brien Trophy next June. He'll drop it on Andrew's knee.

MM,

When I say edit comments, I meant you have to point out the reason why you are deleting a particular post. You have to state the phrase, and then make your own comments underneath that those type of posting are not allowed. In the automatic postings, we are at a dark the boundaries or rules of engagement. I am not saying that you change the statements made but tell us why the post is being deleted. Like for example on Jon K, what did he say on Lebron? why are you deleting it?

On Mike T., well we all know his background and because of automatic posting, you can't stop the man. Even the State cannot stop him but he should not be banned, some of his posts should be deleted and explain to everyone why you consider them offensive. That is precisely the reason I suggested there should be a little time allotted in reading every post before being posted by the moderator or anyone in your staff. Don't ban anyone but just teach them how to post responsibly in the Lakers Blog. There are always two sides of the story, perhaps Mike T was also reacting to the insults and his reactions are purely offensive too.

Mark Medina,

Do you think Bell had more than money factor in to his decision? Maybe he couldn't stand the thought of being in the PnG after all. Either way, I'm kind of glad. Defensively he helps us, but personally I couldn't stomach the thought of him in LA. Just my feelings on the matter.

I'm happy with Shannon. He's motivated and knows the system. He has a good attitude, too. What are the chances he comes back, do you think?

Beautiful day here (albeit hot) in Southern Cali and I'm lovin' LA!!!

GO LAKERS!!!!!

Staples 24,

>>>Lakers weakness has always been defense.

That is just patently false. They held every single team they faced in the playoffs below their regular season (or even post-season) averages. Boston had been killing other teams with their offense, but when they faced the Lakers, it was like hitting a brick wall. Rondo was looking better than LeBron before the Lakers shut him (and everyone else) down.

The only reason I say a backup Center is for Bynum insurance. If Bynum gets another injury, Pau Gasol cannot play 48 minutes every game while Drew is out.

I agree, LTLF. I know Odom backs Drew up but it would be great to have that go-to guy at the 5.

MM -

Thank you for picking my post for RCOTD...

I am honored...

Larry, I was just trying to have your back and that's how it looked to me.
I apologize to you if I misread the situation.

Hey Garret, or should I just refer to you as "pompous dumbass",

Since motiviation is your key factor in your equation, please tell how you measure the motivation of an individual. Sounds pretty subjective to me. Your so called mathematics equation must have variables with measurement, so how do you measure the motivation of someone you do not even know? You certainly can't be as simplistic as saying "Player X has never won a championship. Player Y has. Therefore, Player X has more motivation than Player Y". Wow, what a flawed argument.

Because Mr. Kobe Bryant blows your argument out of the water. Supposedly, with 5 rings, Kobe has absolutely no motivation according to you. And I can assuredly say that Kobe has more motivation than anybody else in the NBA. HANDS DOWN!! (IMO)

You see, you need to measure motivation dependant on that individual's utmost wants. When Bosh's utmost wants are to hang with his buddies in Miami and winning a championship is secondary, then his motivation has been lessened because he has already achieved his utmost want. When Princess Jimmy's utmost want is to be the most famous and powerful person in the world (dream on), and winning a championship is certainly a part of that but only a small part of that, then consequently his motivation is also lessened. Kobe Bryant needs championships more than anything else. And he NEEDS to have more rings than Jordan, his motivation is greater than any other player to obtain that. And couple that with the superior talent of anyone on this earth, and you have yourself quite a combination.

Of course, as I stated earlier, you still have to know the ins and outs of someone to measure that motivation. I am making subjective assumptions on those three players, but truthfully, I do not really know what truly motivates them. I'm sure you do not either. Oh and you're also full of it.

Take that to the bank.

>>>No disrespect to Kobe, but if he chooses to get paid less during his ocnract
>>>extension, we could have BELL AND BARNES alreday in the line up.

Okay Staples 24,

Explain to us all how Kobe taking less money could have allowed the Lakers to break up a 5.8 million dollar MLE into enough to pay Bell and Barnes and Blake.

Kobe's money has absolutely nothing to do with it. The Lakers had 5.8 million TOTAL TO SPEND. If Kobe had taken a salary of ONE DOLLAR, then the Lakers would STILL have had 5.8 MILLION TO SPEND.

Seriously. If Kobe had agreed to a ONE DOLLAR PER YEAR salary, the Lakers would STILL be over the salary cap and have no cap space to spend.

In review:

Kobe's not being greedy
Pau's not being greedy
Buss is not being greedy

The Lakers are spending the most on salary of any team, and consequently they have the BEST team. They currently have a better overall roster than the Miami Heat. Basketball is not played with 3-man teams.

Staples 24,

>>>LAKERS WILL BE in BIG TORUBLE? Luke and Sasha off the bench for
>>>James and Wade in teh FINALS!!! C'mon people!!!
>>>
>>>THINK!!!

Okay, I'm thinking. You want to hear some of the things that I'm thinking?

For one thing, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James are not going to play 48 minutes a game during the finals. Someone will have to back them up. And that someone will be a player that they could get for a league minimum salary.

Luke (or Ebanks) and Sasha will do fine at defending guys like Larry Hughes and Ime Udoka. Or how about Keith Bogans and Jason Williams.

Kobe will be the primary defender on Wade and Artest will be the primary defender on LeBron. If you think that's not good enough, then I suggest you check with guys like Kevin Durant and Paul Pierce, who got defended by Artest, or Rajon Rondo, who got defended by Kobe.

And more importantly, TEAM defense is essential. When LeBron or Wade get past Artest or Kobe (and they will), then Bynum or Gasol is back by the rim to alter or block their shot. When Kobe or Artest get by Wade or LeBron (and they will), then who's guarding the rim for Miami? Zydrunas Ilgauskas? Puh-lease.

>>>Buss willing to pay them 2 mil but not 3 mil.

You really don't get this, do you?

It has nothing to do with what Buss is or isn't willing to pay. The CBA restricts how much teams that are over the salary cap (58 million) can spend on free agents. The Lakers are so far over the cap that it would take Kobe AND Pau BOTH forgoing their entire salary to get the Lakers some cap space.

5.8 million. TOTAL . Beyond that, they can only pay minimum contracts.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSS
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH KOBE
(and for good measure)
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LUKE

>>>Lockout or not, your value goes up after winning a title.

Unless the new CBA eliminates the MLE. Most teams are already over the salary cap for 2011. So it's possible that 90% of free agents will get only minimum contracts in 2011.

One more thing, pompous Garett,

In 1969, the Celtics beat the Lakers in 7 games. The entire Lakers roster except Wilt had not won a ring (Wilt only had 1). The key roster for Boston had multiple rings. Russell had 10. The Lakers were BY FAR the more talented team and were heavy favorites to win, home court etc.

So how did Boston manage to win that series according to your equation. Mathematics never change...

Certainly they had more motivation. Or did they? Maybe it was the yellow and purple ballons in the rafters of the Forum when Boston took the court in Game 7 that motivated them? I know Jerry West's stomach turned when he saw those balloons.

And for that matter, how did Boston beat LA in 68, 66, 65, 63, 62???

I actually don't disagree with your basis. I just disagree with how you supposedly measure motivation.

Lewstrs............ I really think we need a Laker unity caravan. After all, we are the Almighty Lakers, winners of 16 champioships, the greatest coach, The Best Player....man I just can't say it like Mamba24 does. New Mexico loves Mamba24

@ noah - yeah shut up dude, mamba24 is the only person who welcomed me with open arms, what you think im not gonna back him up... i got his back 210%% no matter what he says.. so just think before you speak cuz i hate being insulted when i didnt do nothing...

this blog without my dear Larry/mamba24 is nothing... like previously said he is the heart and soul of this blog and im honored to be commenting on the side with such a person... ( you should be too) so we know his gonna stay because if anyone insults THAT MAN (mamba24) is insulting me and from yesterdays comments i dont take 2 kindly about my friends being insulted yet alone being kicked off here.. over my dead bloging name lol

so my best friend mamba24 is staying yes? i knew you couldnt turn your back on us!! we love you!!!!!!!!!

CAN WE JUST MOVE ON FROM THIS SICK MAN'S DRAMA?

I agree you should take an inventory of your "BEING" and when you feel you are secure and strong then venture out. If you cannot control your emotion and anger in public forum then you should not be participating in such pursuits. You have a chronic problem with losing your temper, threatning people that you don't even know with physical harm, make a mountain out of a mole hill, you make public apologies to draw attention to yourself., please enough of this drama.

The Lakers didn't miss out on Raja Bell because Raja Bell missed out on the Lakers.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX, WELL PUT:

The Lakers didn't miss out on Raja Bell because Raja Bell missed out on the Lakers.

Staples24,

you wrote: Did you not put Gasol as bench player? So why not James?
I am pretty sure James and Wade will not sit both at the same time, do You?

my response: Yes, I put Gasol as a bench player. The standard rotation for
the Lakers C is ... Bynum, Gasol & occasionally LO. I'm not sure that you'd
ever qualify James as the 2nd string "fill in the position".

I think the Lakers are actually weird in this manner. It's also one of the reasons
why I wanted more playing time for Mbenga.

Garrett Kall....

Thanks for the detailed breakdown of next season. Now I won't have to waste my time looking at the ACTUAL games. Speaking of wasting time, what are you doing here blogging? Shouldn't you be in the South of France on your yacht enjoying the winnings you accumulated last year? Sounds like your formulae are either a license to print money or they're the base ingredient for fertilizer!

Shaun Livingston, like Bell, is also off the board as he has signed. Yahoo reports that the Lakers are closed to signing our Brown back.

I agree with fellow posters here that we need another big as insurance for the injury prone Bynum...Mbenga, who has been in our system for the past two years, is a good choice if you ask me. Kurt Thomas is good too.

And with the two rookies, Ebanks and Caracter, expected to be signed, our team roster will be set. Lakers looking good.

Benga/Thomas as a Bynum backup is fine! The remaining gap is perimeter defense against Mike Miller-Wade-James combination. Artest & Kobe are fine but if Kobe has to guard Wade for 40 minutes his offense will suffer. Lakers need to fill the perimeter hole with a Barnes type player, since Tony ALlen is no longer available. Rounding out the bench with Barnes, Ebanks, Carter, and Benga will be fine assuming Brown is back.....14 players total with a couple as 2 for 1 trade bate downstream. Kobe cutting his salary after signing a contract is against the rules, but what if his contract is extended a year and the cash flow reduced for the first two years and correspondingly increased for the last two? Same for Gasol & Bynum? Isn't that what Wade's Miami Heat team has done?
