Tweet of the Day: "RIP Lorenzen Wright. I was blessed to know him." -- RealLamarOdom (Lakers forward Lamar Odom)
Reader Comment of the Day:"love our off-season so far. the Steve Blake signing was all i had asked for this season in addition to retaining Brown and Fisher. the Barnes move is ok considering the toughness he brings to the table. Farmar never fit the system anyway and should do pretty well in New Jersey i think. i would've liked to have gotten Bell as another defensive stopper but oh well. also i love the upside of our draft picks after watching summer league. Ebanks is an Ariza clone, which is great and Caracter is the hustler we so desperately need off the bench. i feel the Ratliff deal was fairly irrelevant but he can at least do what Mbenga did for us. i feel like we addressed our most glaring need, bench production and intensity. i mean i cringed every time the second unit went in because they would constantly blow double digit leads and Phil would always leave them in to "let them work it out" as he puts it. then Kobe has to come in and play hero for us to win. i feel like we have to still be the favorites either way you look it regardless of what everyone else is doing. Artest has a full year of the triangle under his belt, Odom has big games when we need them, and hopefully Bynum can stay healthy. the other guys go without saying." -- SoCoolCurt

Yeah Artis Gilmore definitely deserves to be in....maybe there's some dirt on him.....here's a guy that maybe isn't as qualified:
"Canadian-born Robert J. "Bob" Houbregs (inducted 1987) was drafted by NBA's Milwaukee Hawks in 1953 and played five seasons in the league.[64] " (Wikipedia)

Wow MagicPhil that was definitely a blast from the past. That fold over was always the highlight. I think I was a little to young to fully appreciate the satire in early 70's. What do you have next - clips of the Midnight Special/Wolfman Jack?
Posted by: LRob | August 01, 2010 at 12:16 AM
Robert J. "Bob" Houbregs....led his college team to final 4 (did not win), and his career scoring average in the NBA was 9.3 .......... he must have been related to somebody.

Also didn't really get the whole Rowan and Martin laugh in...although I did like Lilly Tomlin's character.

By the way, I know alot isn't the proper word to use, but it's just my rebellious side....just as my writing rarely ever ends a sentence with the proper period...I'm Keroucian... At my work, they won't even allow us to carry our cell phones on our bodies. That would be ok, but we have management that is as I say "stupidvisors", and a phone system that is a maze, to a machine, that won't take a message. So if there is ever a real emergency, you would not find out til your own time. LRob-
Oh man i hope you are right that the NBA schedule for 2010-2011 is released on tuesday. That also means that come Monday ESPN is going to highlight the best games to look forward of the upcoming season.
The majority of televised games will be the Miami Heat. Followed by the Lakers if they are lucky.
Supposedly the top 2 teams of each conference gets the same amount of air time each season. Yeah right!
TNT is going to start promoting that they are the home/station of the Eastern Conference Finals during the pre-season games that they air.
Last year they waited until the last minute to promote the Lakers vs the Suns as their prime coverage of their Conerence Finals.
Posted by: Joe_Corad | August 01, 2010 at 03:38 AM
I really like the idea of KOBE retiring in 6-8 years time and become the Lakers graetest of all time far more ahead than Magic.NBA greatest player of all time far more ahead than NBA baby hype MJ as players are far more athletic, bigger, more skilled today than those MJ face before.MJ and LBJ are Stern babies marketed by NBA and always have referies helping them to bolster their stats...
Posted by: Adrian Palomar | August 01, 2010 at 03:39 AM
Who should the Lakers face againts when they collect their 16th ring as a franchise?
What should be the X-mas game opponent of the Lakers?
What about MLK day game?
I say for opening act it should be the Lakers vs Utah Jazz-
For the Holidays, the Lake show should go up againts the Celtics;
And for MLK day it should come down to the Lakers hosting the Miami Heat on their 2nd meeting of the season. It's only appropriate since the Lakers will have the home court advantage in the FINALS. Lets see if the Heat can travel and win.
Posted by: Joe_Corad | August 01, 2010 at 03:45 AM
lakers blog the best blog in the world...
Posted by: Adrian Palomar | August 01, 2010 at 03:49 AM
Another thought. I hope not to see that Lakers have the most or close to having the more back to back games as they did last year. We will see who Stern Favors next year. If the Heat have fewer than LA; then its something us Laker Fans should be alarmed with.
The Miami Heat are younger, they should be able to handle that. They are the best trio ever assembled in NBA history, according to WADE.
The LA Lakers are the repeat defending champions, they deserve to be cut some slack.
We will just have to wait and see.

Word is that LBJ will be "injured" when he travels to Cleveland when the Heat play againts the Cavaliers. Therefore he won't be there because of precautionary messures. LOL
Yeah if I was LBJ I would fake an injury too, and stay in Miami.

Karl Malone did the same; the difference was he was injured and he left after 18 years of trying to bring a title to Utah. 18 YEARS!!!
Also, the Jazz didn't work hard to bring him back. Most imnportantly, Malone never quit on the Jazz or led them on.
Once again, Malone left the Jazz after 18 years!!!

A very late thought.
Players we hate to join the Lakers in the near future-
Absolutely no Andre Varejao, or however his name is spelled. For some reason all Brazilian players are cocky and seem to be playing for teams that Lakers find as rivals. The Suns have Leandro Barbosa(traded to toronto i think). Cleveland has that sideshow bob of Varejao. The Nuggets have Nene Hilario.; but Nene wanted to erase his last name because he thought he would be as big as Pele and Ronaldo. The two biggest soccer players ever to play in Brazil.
If i miss to include other Brazilian players, its only because they are not cocky, over rated players like the ones previously mentioned.
Now for French players. . .

Best blog quote about Jordam Farmar
==========================
And now I read that Farmar may not really be 6'2", so how tall is he for real?"
Farmar's height is 6'2" (sort of roundoff of 6' 1 3/4"). Here is the breakdown:
socks - 1/2"
sole - 1'
hair(increases at a vertical leap of 42")- 1/4"
flesh (head to foot) - 6'

Crazy story about the Film The Exorcist.
My Aunt was pregnant with her first child. She dared to go watch that movie while she was 8 months. While she was in that theater, she witness a couple of viewers run out screaming, and she saw alot more folks kneeling down on their knees praying.
Nothing compared to when she started screaming in pain when she realized that her child was ready to be born; prematurely.
According to her everyone that was there made the cross and told her to get out. WOW!
Good news is my cousin is alive and healthy and is a Lawyer, and my aunt's only distate from her experience is, the long line and the crappy popcorn she bought when she had her contractions.

I still have alot of films to see that are classics, and are now being remade as we speak. But nothing like an original idea.
I took note from all the films from experience bloggers that gave their take as their favorite Sci-Fi peliculas.

Oh man...I was taking the summer off from the blog. I pop in just to see wassup and see the equivalent of "The 300" trying to take on a world record blogdump and tiring badly...OK, I'm in...strokin' it from the corner.
Too bad we don't have DFish here to help out with his usual 30 or 40 posts obsessively stalking Fisher. We'd hit 500 easy.

There once was a boy named Jack,
he lived in a shack by the tracks,
he tried all his might
to get some delight,
but it's hard when you live life on crack.
