Tweet of the Day: "RIP Lorenzen Wright. I was blessed to know him." -- RealLamarOdom (Lakers forward Lamar Odom)
Reader Comment of the Day:"love our off-season so far. the Steve Blake signing was all i had asked for this season in addition to retaining Brown and Fisher. the Barnes move is ok considering the toughness he brings to the table. Farmar never fit the system anyway and should do pretty well in New Jersey i think. i would've liked to have gotten Bell as another defensive stopper but oh well. also i love the upside of our draft picks after watching summer league. Ebanks is an Ariza clone, which is great and Caracter is the hustler we so desperately need off the bench. i feel the Ratliff deal was fairly irrelevant but he can at least do what Mbenga did for us. i feel like we addressed our most glaring need, bench production and intensity. i mean i cringed every time the second unit went in because they would constantly blow double digit leads and Phil would always leave them in to "let them work it out" as he puts it. then Kobe has to come in and play hero for us to win. i feel like we have to still be the favorites either way you look it regardless of what everyone else is doing. Artest has a full year of the triangle under his belt, Odom has big games when we need them, and hopefully Bynum can stay healthy. the other guys go without saying." -- SoCoolCurt

Give the Spurs credit for being a class organization. They promised RJ they'd take care of him if he opted out of his 15mil and they did. 4 years/39 mil fully guaranteed. The 4th year is a player option at 11mil. I'm going out on a limb and guessing Jefferson will probably exercise his option to keep the 11 mil in 2014...lol

You're right the 2011 Lakers are shaping up to be quite a clan. You mentioned the 70 A's and the Raiders, but don't forget about the late 70 Billy Martin Yankees or Bad Boy Pistons.

Mamba24,
Looks like u n eye are on some same wavelength today, I wasn't a big Jet Li fan at first, but been watching some of his movies, and there are alot of them, and I think he found his niche....so I put "The One" on my Netflix queue.....
I been watching the NBATV all day long while doing stuff, and I have this to say about Shannon, I don't think he's any more erratic or less consistent than many players of his experience level....he (like Fish) hit his open shots during the playoff run....at his age, his athletic freakdom, I say pay him whatever he wants, he won't be a guy who has a good season but disappears during the playoffs, he can play under pressure. Again, keep Sasha as well, as long as he shows that he's a little bit better than he has been, and loses the attitude if he has any. I believe he's liked by Kobe, that's all that counts, I think he would take less to stay in LA for his next contract, Maria Sharapova would probably find him less attractive if he were playing on a loser team, where your tires, freeze as well as your nuts, all kinds of nuts, walnuts, chestnust, brazil nuts......
Think I'll see "Inception" tomorrow, it's one of those movies that you need to see in the theater, a good one, big screen, great sound, not like a dialogue movie where it watching it at home is fine.....
Does anybody know why they decided to make the "Philadelphia roll" on a sushi menu???? Cream cheese??? I don't get it (order it, or understand it, and yes I have tried it, I guess it's a good way to mask the taste of the raw fish for people who aren't entirely connoisseurs of raw fish, but want to be able to tag along.
Wesley Matthews looks like he has great potential, he has a rock hard body , I don't think the X-Man (Xavier) would have choked Wesley, as he is much more physically imposing than his father was. His dad Wes, was pretty good, not great, but good enough to have a decade career.
Percocet????? Man, Oxycontin is the drug du jour.... But Percocet and Percodan are both quite strong....I havn't dispensed either in years as I don't do that kinda work anymore, still same career, but different environment entirely....

It's official!!! It's the offseason and we are feeling good about our team, Shannon Brown not withstanding.
I think eventhough the season just ended we would like to see the boys start going at it. Walleton will be instrumental in showing the newbys the Triangle O, and recruiting players for his new post-Laker career as a Player Agent. I know I would hire him.
That's all for now. Keep'm coming.

"and some say it's in the letters: htj, BD, EJK, DJG, xyz..."
Posted by: LEWSTRS | July 31, 2010 at 05:24 PM
Sometimes I wonder why, it was more prevalent back in the 50's to 70's.....why women who had the intials of "B.J." would prefer to go by that moniker, personally, whatever the B or the J stood for I would have used that.
Pepsi has so much product placement in movies, well Coke isn't far behind....whenever I go see a movie, I bring some rum and add it to my "Coke", which I prefer over Pepsi, Coke Zero is the best diet, but if it's a choice between a Diet Coke or a Diet Pepsi, I'll take a Diet Pepsi. I usually drink a combo of diet coke and regular coke, that way you can avoid a few calories and straight coke is a little too sugar syrupy, diet coke has a metallic aftertaste.

LRob,
Nice contribution on the blog for that RJ news, he may have heard the plan for divorce after getting the big contract from the Spurs. Why enter the alimony area when he could go on dinner dates with multiple ladies?
Laker J,
That's a new name for Walton (Walleton), he's always in the wallet of Jerry Buss forever and ever. That back ailment is another causing for the delay of making the final moves. Gosh, why not give the Lakers a little reprieve for one year and get healed from the back surgery?

Here's what I remember most about Wes Matthews - the Dad. Not his towel waving Dads with the Lakers, although he did appear to be a great teammate, but my freshman year at Michigan State he hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer the last game of the season and Wisconsin beat Magic's MSU squad. It deprived Michigan State of the outright Big Ten championship. They ended up in a 4-way tie with Iowa (Ronnie Lester), Illinois (Eddie Johnson) and Purdue (Joe Barry Carroll).

The Lakers already made an offer to Shannon and they even showed them how they valued him by trying to trade sasha in order to get some space for him but I'm confident that even if Shannon leaves, the Lakers already prepared a pretty good back up plan just like what happened when Turiaf and Trevor left.We even got a more talented player to replace him. That's the reason why,I'm not worried at all that Shannon leaves coz I really trust Mitch.I know that Mitch will surprise everybody once Shannon declares to leave.Mark my words, guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IN MITCH ,WE TRUST!

Thanks for the link. Shaq is the only one of the 3 that we KNOW still has game. He'll get picked up once he lowers his price. Also, somebody will eventually take a flyer on TMac. AI...unfortunately I think has played his last game in the Association.

LEWSTRS- upon careful consideration, MARVEL.
Sure, Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman were good, but they did a lot of independent stuff. Heck, characters Lee and Kirby designed in their sleep, or Larry Lieber designed and Stan took credit for (Thor), were better than every single bland ass whitebread justice league character ever (ok, quick, name me a difference between Ray Palmer, Hal Jordan, and Barry Allen. Or for that matter, any of those guys and The Spirit. Or the Angel, the Torch, Marvel Boy, or Captain D Bag. (Golden Age versions) Oops, too late.

Posted by: LRob | July 31, 2010 at 10:04 PM
My first reaction to signing of Shaq, AI and TMac, if they just follow what Vinny or Kurt asks from them....shut up their mouth....do the drills.....work for their future posterity, I think that team will reach 2nd round of the playoffs. of course, with the Clippers they will play the support roll to the lead players or with T'wolves. Can they make miracles or the fastest way of ruining a franchise?
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | July 31, 2010 at 10:04 PM
Yup, we will never reach the great glories of the golden age of the blog. Back when sunshines were brighter, grass was greener, the dollar was stronger, and a guy who thought Kwame Brown was the greatest player of his generation and Jerry Buss was a perverted criminal ruled supreme. Actually, I started reading the K Bros in 2006 and never actually read the comment section until a year and a half later. Honest. Some of those guys still come by. Heck, I miss Korey.
AK, BK, and Jon K. Why the rest of the K family looked at Thanksgiving with a sense of horrible dread every year. All great guys. Love them all. Dinner conversation from hell.

Something I've been thinking about the UPS situation [and apologies if this has been covered above, I haven't been reading diligently the past 2 days ;-) ]
(Still this will count toward the 500 tally, right???)
Anyway . . . let's assume that:
1) SB has an offer for 4-5 and
2) he's torn b/c he really wants to be a Laker, but
3) this might also be his last real stab at a payday, so he HAS to take it
4) and the Lakers can't clear Sasha to offer more money to UPS (which, the economics of that mystify me, b/c even if the Lakers brought in 25% less value on Sasha's contract -- if I have that right -- that really isn't going to do it for Shannon since that would only be an added 1.25 million on his 2-3 (but I could have the math wrong -- or also Shannon's floor on economic necessity)
5) despite someone writing on HoopsHype (or wherever) that if SB books, Mitch would then look elsewhere for a guard (but with what money, since the Lakers are capped and can only deal with existing contracts at this point) . . .
Isn't the only possibility for the Lakers to engage in a sign and trade . . . in which case they are looking for value/replacement from the Knicks after signing SB to a 4-5 mil deal.
Is any of that correct? And, if so, (since we basically can't have Shannon because the Knicks have now priced him off the Laker roster), then the question is:
A) will the Knicks do a sign and trade? and
B) who would the Lakers want/who would the Knicks part with?
Again, sorry if this has been covered, but I was wondering . . . (and it may be good for 2 or 3 posts added to our final # for the day)

I used to like Sci Fi, but mostly lately I am going for Westerns. I am sort of disappointed that y'all sidetracked wesjoe from his western recommendations, I used to like those.
LRob- the Archie line is pretty interesting in comics history. Dan DeCarlo has a great reputation, even among the more serious comic creators. Of course, Marvel's 'Millie the Model' was for a lot of the sixties more like the Archie of today than Archie was back then. Of course, did you guys know that Beatle Bailey was orginally a comic about a college fraternity guy? About seven months in, he joined the Army to get away from a girl, and never looked back. "Blondie" used to be a take on a gold digging flapper girl from the thirties who snagged a millionaire schmendrink, Dagwood, who later morphed into a working class schmuch who made sandwiches and ran through mailmen like Spinal Tap ran through drummers.
I used to love the Harvey Richie Rich and Casper comics. I read a great thing a couple months ago that argued somewhat facetiously that Richie Rich was actually a communist polemic, due to how much of a cretin his zillionaire dad was portrayed as. Of course, no, Casper the Friendly Ghost was not actually a little boy murdered by Nazis or whatever the latest urban legend is.
Also- the character of Peppermint Patty in 'Peanuts' was modeled on a real life aunt of Charles Shulz. Charles Schulz never seemed to pick up on the quite obvious well, non male focused nature of his Aunt's lifestyle, as he depicted Patty as holding an unrequited love for Charlie Brown that oddly mirrored Charlies infatuation with the red headed girl, but Shulz nevertheless described his Aunt's character well enough that Patty became something of an icon in the gay community.

Here's a poll question:
What is Kobe's best season in his career...
Posted by: LEWSTRS | July 31, 2010 at 10:29 PM
Spider-man (gotta use the hyphen, LEW) is arguably the greatest character (as opposed to archtype, which is where Superman and Batman rule) in comics, although there are a ton of minor unrecognized characters of more independent comics that get a lot less attention, aside from the 'Big Three,' who occupy a rarefied ground of their own. No, I don't recognize the X Men as true comic book heroes, they are more of a sci fi/lame social commentary who exist in their own separate branch of the Marvel Universe, a branch where Dazzle could fight Galactus to a standstill. (Seriously? I hope I am confused)
I dislike Deadpool intensely. While often funny, he is mostly what is wrong with comics. A take off amalgam of more popular characters Wolverine and Spider-Man, crafted by two talents who exemplified the worst excesses of the nineties, Fabian Niceiza (sic) and Rob Liefeld, who is now written as a supposed meta take on comics, but really just gives comic characters who never read anything but comics in their lives a chance to try to satirize or homage the greater traditions of, well, other comic creators from previous generations, who mostly reimagined characters and ground already covered from another generation previous, the creators of the modern comic, a couple of guys who I have previously mentioned, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. (who themselves took a lot from Will Eisner and Carl Burgos)
Yes, modern comic books are mostly self abuse. And don't get me started on Brian Michael Bendis.
Posted by: phred | July 31, 2010 at 10:31 PM
p ang- Fatty is funnier, in a pure quality of joke kind of way. However, I am very proud of the phred persona, who is a very likable guy in his own right.
Also I think I have a better record in predicting actual basketball stuff, but that could be a whole different debate. (yeah, I hate to plug myself, but I get no credit for anything except jokes otherwise)
Posted by: phred | July 31, 2010 at 10:34 PM
comic character who never read anything but comics= comic creators who never read anything but comics. I can't actually think of too many comic characters who read comics, although Ben Grimm used to read 'the fantastic four' semiregularly.

who knows. I'm trying to help us go for at least 300 here. On the other hand, the realistic projection for how we would reach 500 would be with approximately 75 posts from DFish that pretty much said the same thing, and then Oucccchhhhh and LAL818 could get drunk and rip into me and justa for about 150 comments worth, which would just have to get deleted anyway.

Ten reasons why Shaq isn't signed yet...
1. “How can Benedict Arnold be reliable in what he says?” (Referring to Phil Jackson, who criticized his work ethic after the Heat won the 2006 NBA Championship.)
2. ”Buss also said that O’Neal lost weight last off-season (approximately 30 pounds) only because the trade to Miami motivated him. O’Neal refuted that claim while taking a shot at his former team’s owner.“I didn’t need motivation,” O’Neal said. “I needed a real owner like Micky Arison, not a guy that parties with girls three times [younger than him] -- when you’re 60, hang out with 60-year-olds, not 20-year-olds. You can quote me on that. I’ve got nothing else to say about Jerry Buss.”
3. “I’m sorry, who?” (When asked about his relationship with Kobe Bryant.)
4. “The difference between those three is in The Godfather trilogy. One is Alfredo, who’s never ready for me to hand it over to him. One is Sonny, who will do whatever it takes to be the man. And one is Michael, who, if you watch the trilogy, the Godfather hands it over to Michael. So I have no problem handing it to Dwyane.” (Referring to Penny Hardaway, Kobe Bryant, and Dwyane Wade.)
5. “The Spurs are a great WNBA team.”
6. After Chris Bosh accused Shaq of getting away with three-second violations in the lane: “That’s strong words coming from the RuPaul of big men….I’m going to do the same thing (in the next game) I did before — make him quit.”
7. "And one thing I really despise is a front-runner, so I know for a fact that he's a master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go in the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down because of his panic. I've been there before, I've played for him." (speaking of Stan Van Gundy)
8. "I love playing for this coach and I love playing with these guys (Phoenix),""We have professionals who know what to do. No one is asking me to play with Chris Quinn or Ricky Davis. I'm actually on a team again."
9. Regarding Dwight Howard’s use of the Superman moniker for himself:
“Superman my ---. When I was coming up and there was Pat Ewing and Hakeem (Olajuwon) and I never doubled anybody. You tell me who the real Superman is. Don’t compare me to nobody. I’d rather not me mentioned, I’m offended.”
10. There’s two kinds of dirty — dirty and sewer-dirty. Danny Ferry is sewer-dirty and has been ever since he was at Duke.”

speaking of golf -- why is it that Kobe could overcome the pain/shame of his very public transgression and Tiger can't?
Frankly, I'm surprised that Tiger has allowed the psychological to intrude on and disrupt the physical. And I am starting to wonder if he can ever get back to where he was when he thought he was impervious to every external force--whether moral code, natural barrier, or sporting competition.

Cherry Coke reminds me too much of cough syrup, but then again, the buzz you get from cough syrup used to be pretty good, by the way, it's the promethazine in most of them (The Phenergan's ....that's the brand name, not the generic) that gives you the spinning buzz, not the codeine that's in there. Codeine has a cough suppressant effect as well as a constipating effect, so if you do too much you may find yourself trying to pass hard pellets.

My mom, threw away my entire comic collection and sportscard collection when I went away to college, out of state. I had a great collection, Fantastic Four 1-170 or so, all bagged and boxed, Avengers were my favorite, cuz they didn't all dress alike and look like a synchronized swimming team...I had 1 to 220, and the special editions, I wasn't into the X-Men, I didn't understand where they were coming from, I had Daredevil 1-100 (these are approximations), Howard the Duck 1-18, Various Spiderman, he wasn't my favorite, I thought he was a wuss in his personal life. Silver Surfer 1-20..... ....I had some "collectable" DC comics, but as we all know, the market fell out of comics and sports cards from their peak in the early 90's....My card collection was mostly Dodgers, Maury Wills, Willie Davis, Drysdale, Koufax, .....but I did have the Nolan Ryan Rookie Card, because I remember Koosman who I thought was the more significant guy at the time....
Yup, that's my mom, damn I bet it was over $15000 worth of stuff.....she thought it wasn't good reading, She also threw out my marble collection, and other collections, yeah, I collect too many things, still do, BB shoe collection is over 250 pair........

Ten reasons why Shaq should be signed:
1. When asked, in a recent interview with the Sporting News, to talk about the best teammates he has ever had: “Most ferocious was Kobe. Fiercest, most competitive, it was Kobe. D Wade is second after that.”
2. “I’m probably going to have to go with Kobester. He’s an assassin with LeBron coming right after.” (Referring to the 2007-2008 MPV race.)
3. “Pat Riley is the best coach I’ve ever had.” (In 2006.)
4. Los Angeles Lakers superstar Shaquille O'Neal says coach Phil Jackson reminds him of his father, Phillip Harrison, a former U.S. Army drill sergeant."He's a White version of my father," O'Neal recently told USA Today."Big guy. Bad back. Knows the game. Hayed the game. Understands the game. Expects a lot out of me, and isn't afraid to tell me," he said.
5. One lucky shot deserves another. (after DFish .04 miracle following Duncan's fluke double clutch 20ft shot).
6. After seeing video of Stephon Marbury: “You know what? I’m considered to be a master of marketing and like getting hits on the internet and like doing crazy outlandish things. But I looked at all my marketing manuals, and I’ve never seen that technique before. The eating-the-vaseline technique is a new technique.
7. “Challenge me. Treat me like a game of checkers and play me. That’s all I’m asking, just play me. Treat me like Sega and play me.” (Referring to his frustration with Dikembe Mutombo’s “flopping” during the 2001 NBA Finals against Philadelphia.)
8. Przybilla can’t guard me when I’m 27, 37 or 47.”
9. “I’m not worried about facing the Sacramento Queens. Write it down. Take a picture. I’m not going to talk about this all year. When I get back, there’s going to be trouble.” (Before a game against the Sacramento Kings.)
10. You can never have too many 7-footers

speaking of golf -- why is it that Kobe could overcome the pain/shame of his very public transgression and Tiger can't?
Posted by: t_sensei | July 31, 2010 at 10:54 PM
Could it be cause Kobe didn't lose his family over it? Or maybe Kobe has been blessed with that one in a generation type of focus? Or maybe its still early and Tiger will still bounce back?
Posted by: LRob | July 31, 2010 at 11:26 PM
T sensei,
I wondered the same thing. If I was the knicks I would have asked to do a sign and trade and perhaps save a few dollars in the process. They don't have to do it with LA because SB is unrestricted, unless they wanted to shed someone off their roster and the Lakers were interested in that player.
If losing SB to NY is ineviatable, I would try to get Bill Walker from them he will earn $850K an plays SG or SF.
As far as Sasha, the Lakers could save his whole salary if they trade him to a team under the CAP. The 125% only applies to teams over the CAP. That's why they were offering a 1st round pick to go with him. If Minn. would trade Sasha for Delonte, they get a 1st round pick as well, and the Lakers would relese D West with a 500K payoff.
That's how I understand it...anyone?

"speaking of golf -- why is it that Kobe could overcome the pain/shame of his very public transgression and Tiger can't?
Frankly, I'm surprised that Tiger has allowed the psychological to intrude on and disrupt the physical. And I am starting to wonder if he can ever get back to where he was when he thought he was impervious to every external force--whether moral code, natural barrier, or sporting competition.
Posted by: t_sensei | July 31, 2010 at 10:54 PM"
Probably because of the differences in the games, golf is just too finicky....hey any sport where the athlete gets upset because someone has the gall to take a picture disrupting their swing, or serve with the overwhelming sound of a single lens reflex camera (now digital) disrupting them enough that they can reprimand the photographer, geez, people should be able to shout and scream and try to distract them just as they try to distract B-Ballers trying to sink a free throw.......
I'd really like to have been a fly on the wall the night that Tiger got banged (up).

What was that about??? I musta missed it.

I don't know how you missed that last summer humanomaly. I believe it was during the ongoing Odom negotiation so maybe you was wrapped up into that...but it was a big story. Since then I looked at RJ like something just aint right. And he certainly didn't play well this season. But embarassing as it was, it was definitely better not to take the vows if he was having serious doubts.

I think Captain Douche Bag was probably more in reference to the mostly Spirit inspired attack of the bland rich debutante superhero, The Phantom, The Shadow, the the Cat, even Batman. Jerks.
I'm sorry I can't be as much help as I would like. I would love to go to my archives and find the craziest and lengthiest blasts from the past, but here I am, 1250 miles away from my PC. See, if I had an Ipad, I could give you the greatest hits of phred, even from washington. See if y'all guys want to take up a collection for that.

IMO if they don't sign shannon they will probably take a look at dj strawberry who played pretty well in summer league. he's a better defensive player than shannon and although his shot is suspect it's no worse than shannon's. also let's not forget jcrit the former laker. he woulda played in summer league if it wasn't for his foot. if shannon isn't signed and his foot is healed i wouldn't be surprised if he gets invited to training camp.

So; "Hey Jude' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" 'Yellow Submarine; all about drug use or just good music by some guys who were taking too many drugs?
The claim that 'Puff the Magic Dragon' referred to drug use has been largely rebuted by the author, who claims he knew nothing about drugs back in his freshman year of college when he wrote the song, and besides, he never inhaled.
The symbolism and the significance behind "H&R PuffinStuff" is more likely to fulfill the requirements in that direction.

speaking about HGH or "roids".....anyone else besides me notice that Venus and Serena Williams were not exactly "average" women????? And as some of the muscles came off it seemed their dominance receded as well, just my general unproven observation. I used to love Rod Laver's game.... Ivan Lendl......

I was going to get an iPad, but was going to wait til it went to 128GB, and though I had fun playing with it at the store, afterword I was flippin thru WSJ and I think Mossberg said the screen display isn't widescreen ratio, 16:9, so you would be watching cropped movies, which I absolutely refuse to do......true??? I didn't verify it myself, as I'm probably going to get a new iMac, getting tired of all the laptops, may be nice to have that 27" display, and the speed would be significant over what I'm using now, a 1.8Ghz MacBook Air....

lakerfan45, DJ strawberry is not good. Reports are that the individual kinda sucks.

The truth is that Shannon wants what is best for his career, but he's not sure about his options. He doesn't want to live/raise-his-kid in Cleveland. In NY, he's probably affraid of being trade to Denver or NO for Melo and/or CP3...So, even the Lakers being the team that offers the lowest deal, he must get this chance of being part of such wonderfull ride. If he can prove himself, he can have the minutes he wants so bad.

Cheers

LRob,
Thanks for posting those old quotes from Shaq. The guy certainly has burned a lot of bridges over the years. It's a shame he didn't stay in shape when he was with us - we would've easily had a 5-peat if he did.
And no doubt, the 2005-2006 Kobe was flat out lethal. I also recall the 2002-2003 Kobe was freakin awesome too. That was when Shaq was out a whole bunch of games, and Kobe had to carry the team with Slava being the 2nd best player on the team. Quite an accomplishment. Also, the 2001 playoffs was when Kobe really established himself and put him in the discussion as the best player in the league.

All time playoffs NBA/ABA blocks per game:
1. Hakeem Olajuwon* 3.26
2. Dwight Howard 2.88
3. Mark Eaton 2.84
4. Elvin Hayes* 2.61
5. Tim Duncan 2.58
6. David Robinson* 2.54
7. Dikembe Mutombo 2.49
8. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar* 2.43
9. Alonzo Mourning 2.26
10. Artis Gilmore 2.24
Hey I just wanna to give some love to Mark Eaton. Just remember blocks we're kept as a stat until around 1974 so that's why Wilt and Russ are in there.

Laker J,
They won't ask the Lakers to do a sign and trade cuz they got ego.....they don't have 3 am-EGO's, but they are the Big Apple......geez, I wonder if there are apple trees in New York......How the city got that nickname.....

Sorry pherd. The only time I read comics was when my pops took me and my brother to the barber shop when I was a kid.
Even then I went straight to the back for the sea monkeys and x-ray glasses.
I was a Mad Magazine freak from day one! Couldn't wait to see the new monthly addition, and I was always so proud when I was the first one to fold the back cover!
Wish I would have kept that huge stack of mags. To this day, when I see certain old school movies I can see the Mad parody!
It was the best!
Heading to Dove Valley this week (10 minutes from the crib) so maybe I'll post a few NFL notes if the faithful can stomach it.

Steve Blake does not look like a high maintenance NBA player, he looks like he would be working the paint department at a Lowe's.....We'll see how he dresses when they show the players walking into Staples's....which I thought was kinda a dumb name back at the beginning, but how it turned out, I think it will be hard to beat, although the Brooklyn arena probably will be something, probably costing 3 times as much......
Posted by: humanomaly (ow) | July 31, 2010 at 11:57 PM
I thought Caracter deserved the props he got in Summer league, but I just didn't see the Ebanks/Trevor semblance. I was expecting to see Ebanks with more athleticism after people made the analogy.

I still think of the Honda Center as the Arrowhead Pond, I can remember when it was brand new.....there was a race kind of......Irvine, I think was going to try to build an arena, but that never came about, either way, neither would have gotten the Clippers.....who SHOULD STILL BE IN SAN DIEGO, THE 8TH (I THINK) LARGEST CITY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
OK,. I tried, but, I failed....

LRob: could be right, but you are also comparing Ebanks now to Trevor in his 4th year. I chalk some of Ebanks' lack of athleticism (such as it was) to simply lacking some confidence/thinking too much. Once he relaxes into the league, he'll be fine I think. Really getting after it like Trevor did after his foot injury healed.
