Tweet(s) of the Day: "I just interviewed the RUDEST nanny ever. It's crackin me up! She grilled me 4 10 min then got SO offended when I asked about her experience... like I should just know that she is some kinda crazy super nanny. she was super alright...super somethin else! haha. oh well. #interviewfail -- kristenblake2 (Kristen Blake, wife of Lakers guard Steve Blake)

Reader Comment of the Day: "It's too bad that the Lakers gave Sasha the contract that they did, he really is a solid player, just not 5 million-type solid. It is hard to justify paying Ron Artest, Matt Barnes, and Derek Fisher what they do, and then keeping Sasha. They also jumped the gun on Luke, so here is to hoping that we can trade Sasha for a quality shooter, or yet another defensive presence at a much lower cost." -- TNTLakerFan

Why are people still concerned with Shannon Brown? With the starting 5, then Blake, Barnes, and Odom in the rotation, when (or better yet WHY) would Shannon get any minutes?

Good Question. No answer.

Very busy today...Just squeezing in my daily Haiku...

Sasha Vujacic...
The Machine will be back...
Eyebrows looking good...

Any bandwagon Rick F. starts - add me to it. Especially regarding the Greenies or Sheat.

Woohoo!

Mamba24,

The starting 5 plus 3 = 8. You need two more to make it 10. PJ does not play rookies so two starter will always extend their minutes. Would that mean Kobe would play two quarters for 82 games. Sasha and Shannon will relieve the playing time of some starters who are needed to be fresh and injury free in the playoffs. How about looking at the players who are not going to play at all? Why are the Lakers paying big bucks with little in return? Luke should rest now!

Shaq and Kwame might play with the Leprechauns. Are they that desperate?

Stop this! Not even the Celtics are that desperate! LOl!

(01) RICK FRIEDMAN - OWNER – I ask you, apart from James' brawn and motor skills, what's appealing about this guy? He defined himself by refusing to shake hands after the Orlando Magic spanked his team in the playoffs. He misled the Cav's owner into thinking the team had a chance to retain him, all the while colluding to obtain something else. He chose his own interviewer for an ESPN special that bored America to tears. He partied like a rock star in Vegas, then leaned on ESPN to spike an undercover story by its own reporter. Then flips-off a hometown fan who only wants to take a photo with him. And he's still David Stern's poster boy for the NBA. Go figure!
(02) JON K – CO/OWNER - Few things were more infuriating than during the best Finals of the decade--Lakers and Celtics going seven games--and they're talking about where LeCreep is going to go at halftime.
(03) JUSTANOTHERMAMBAFAN – DRIVER - I'll tell you what princess jimmy's legacy is going to be: When the going gets tough, the princess jumps in her Barbie convertible and takes her talents to South Beach.
(04) TIM-4-SHOW RIDING SHOTGUN - everywhere he goes he just keeps pissing people off left and right. Talent, fame, and money will corrupt the corruptible. LBJ is living proof of that.
(05) NEMAIA FALETOGO – SECURITY - What is more troubling to me is that the article says that he left with LO in an Excursion afterwards. I don't think it's a good idea for LO to be associating himself with this guy. I mean, a man can hang out with whoever he wants, but people need to choose their friends more carefully.
(06) MAMBA24 – Princess Jimmy will....NEVER, EVER, NEVER, EVER, NEVER, EVER HAVE A FREAKIN LEGACY!
(07) WESJOENIXON - Wow. That's ugly. The guy says "LeBron, Cleveland still loves you" and LeBron gives him the finger. This will be one of the defining moments of LeBron's career, I believe. I was waiting for LeBron to address his hometown fans in some way, and I guess he finally did. Creep of the year, without adoubt. And what is Lamar doing laughing with James while this was happening? That just show's how dumb Lamar is. Come on Odom, wipe the greasy streak of fame from yourself, and get some perspective. I expected better from Lamar. when someone disrespects the fans like LeBron is doing, I say take the gloves off and pummel him. I never had a problem with LeBron, not even as every Laker fan hated on him. But what I saw him do to the youngest, most sincere fans in Cleveland turned him into a monster in my eyes. And now the clear, concise "F-U" to all the Cleveland fans? I say get the dogs out and chase LeBron until his wretched soul is turned back into a pile of liver or whatever LeBron was before he became famous.
(08) HTJ - But just for the sheer sake of rubbing it in Princess Jimmy's face a little more, I say we bring Delonte "Lebron's New Daddy" West in. LOL!
(09) POINT FORWARD - I wish the Lakers could sign Delonte so he could yeah.. you know what I'm talking about.. Calle Ocho Miami with - pick your trio's GF. Get inside their thick heads. That and being the gym bag handler/test dummy at team practice. But Delonte still has a decent stroke.
(10) MAGIC PHIL - Dude, most of his (PRINCESS JIMMY’S) stuff is ILEGAL! The guy is even forgeting how to play, he just bull his way to the paint, score and wait for the whistle. When he hits a bunch of 3s, that impresses me...but he's ALWAYS pushing his defender coz Stern spoils him. GREAT? LOL...So why he have ZERO RINGS? Wade is great, have 1...What you think is great is LBJ + REFS = GREAT LBJ + Stern = worst thing ever happen to NBA...

I never did like Princess Jimmy..........Him and his chalk throwing, picture taking, riverdancing, was just a little bit too much to stomach. It's nice to see he's getting some bad press, except for BSPN. Give him a year in Miami and we'll see the REAL side of the self annointed KING!!!!!!!!

Rick - I understand your hatred. No biggie. I'm just not the pile on type of guy. But just for the record are you saying he's not a great player?

Justa - I'm not saying Lebron is doing great things and I'm certainly not going to search them out and post them. Understand, I'm no big Lebron fan I'm justa the kinda brother don't feed on the blood in the water. Yes my scroll does works and I use it when I see fit, but I'm good for now.

Wes - I feel you. The dogs are definitely out. I'm just not joining the pack.

ups needs major improvement on his outside shot and d. just because sasha runs around like a spark plug, a la verajao doesn't make him effective. he's a hack.. a butcher. dude has no game. weak players on team: LO, sasha & brown. there's enough there for a couple of good trades and of course, our big x-factor of them all: BYNUM.. what to do with bynum. this is his last chance. if he can't give the team a complete season, he'll be gone and rightfully so. Wright-R.I.P.

GO LAKERS and IN BUSS WE TRUST!!

all lbj did was what mngmt couldn't do: upgrade the roster. the heat is his team, just wait and see. we all "witnessed" what he did for the past couple of years so just watch what he does with a guys like wade, bosh and hopefully riley as a coach... this is too much "heat" for spoelstra to handle. he's got to go. come back "riles."

Sometimes I, yes I feel sorry for Princess Jimmy, But then my Daughter slaps the ISH out of me and I come back to reality.

yahoooooooo,, hahahahahahaha

If Shannon Brown signs with the Knicks, he actually could be a starter, so that could be better for his career. I think that trading Sasha to obtain Delonte West is still an option worth exploring, especially given the way he performed last year in the playoffs. We could possibly wait for the T-Wolves to buy him out as well, and then sign him at a reduced cost. The T-Wolves have enough cap space to take on Sasha's contract, with us perhaps getting a second round pick in return. To me West would be a better fifth guard than Sasha assuming we re-sign Shannon Brown.

Lakers should think about next years' acquisition. Carmelo Anthony!!!!

Sasha (way overpaid), Luke (way overpaid), & Brown are all expendable!!!

P.S. - plus, Mark Gasol ... that would be something 2 brothers in the same team.

PART 1 OF 4

Fellow Laker fans... Please tell me what you think?
Please be kind....of course itsa brain storm...
...or course i dont know ever cap rule!!

Id love to hear you ideas and comments....
I think Mitch has a few more big moves in him this summer (I hope) ...:)

Remember...The miami gang will only hang together if they win either ONE of the

next two. Otherwise Riley is gonna start loosen 'top' players who came lookin

for a ring. So we should go all out in these next 2 years to build a MONSTAR!! Go

Lakers!!

In my mind the biggest impact player player we could get would be
Mark Gasol.... (or any strong back up Center) . I think we should be willing to
give up several draft picks for Gasol (1st and second rounders). Its his last

year with his Memphis contract. And couple players and a couple picks. might pry

him loose..? If not we end up with a lesser 3rd string Center and some trade able

parts for mid season.

In my mind the end result of a series of trades should net us
another back up center (Mark Gasol!?) and ..if lucky...2 shooting guards (one

second string defensive/veteran (NBA), and one third string offensive/youth

(Europe?) ).

My reasoning is thus..... The more minute away from Bynum to give him a full

healthy season; the better. This 3rds string Center, in my opinion, does the most

good of any single move.
That 'Big Man" advantage is where we will win.

The other two SG guards acquired in many ways.

PART 2 OF 4

Variables to consider befroe the trading begins....

A.....To Consider: ...If Luke Walton can be considered ineligible for the season,

we
get 2/3rds of his salary back to replace him, and he is not counted against our
roster. This gives us about 3.7 million. This would help if possible.

B....To consider: Pick up Shannon as a PG to provide leadership to the 3rd string.

Tempo change, taco time, young guns...

C....Do we pick up the rookies? I hope we will take them both.

D....How many players to carry this year...I am in favor of carry 15 (and Luke on

IR). Gives us trading options, youth, and 3 complete strings. 1st string

(offense/experience), 2nd string (defensive veterans), and third string (young

guns). Gives us many looks, many options.

PART 3 OF 4

Trading begins...!!

1st Move...Make sure we don't lose Shannon.. (wait if possible, but move)

2nd move ..Trade Sasha to Timberwolves (with a pick?). For A Guard (Dante west?)

and/or a Center (2nd String). Or any other player that Memphis would want. At

this point, even if we dont get Mark, we are still better off with any good 2nd

string center than with Sasha.

This is especially true if we can pick up a shooting Guard in Europe with the

'Luke exemption'.

3rd move.. Players from Timber wolves to Memphis (with 2011 1st round and 2012

second round picks?! ) for Mark Gasol.

4th Move [One or more of the following till 2 need guards aquired.

..... Pick/player to Portland for Rudy...or...
....... Euro League Guard with exception from Luke...or...
....... Rookie with promise (extra rookies to training camp)
........ Mid season trade (hold extra 'trade able' players

5th Move ......Hold 15 on roster this season (13 plus the rookies).
......More options mid season when the mid season trade run
for play offs begins.

PART 4 OF 4

My own Comments about strategy...

1. I know Theo is now our current 2nd string....and he is great(keeper). But

another center and will suck up 18 minutes a game ...and Bynum is that much fresher

for the play offs. Plus BYNUMS value to the team, confidence, trade value, and 3

peat, all hinge on him being healthy (otherwise cant even trade him) . We need 3

Centers this season. We have our defensive/veteran, lets go and get some young legs

to suck up minutes.

Of course we want him to resign for us. If Mark Gasol resigns for a few
years..after this next year. That will be huge. If we cant get him this year we

should be patient and get him next year when his contract is over...

2. If this move only got us Mark it was worth it. These picks, next years

actually, are useless for the Lakers. A team forging a 3 year championship run,

that already has 2 rookies(if they sign) can not place more rookies on the team.

At least till these two pan out, or are traded.

At the risk of being redundant.... :)

The miami gang will only hang together if they win either ONE of the next two.
Otherwise Riley is gonna start loosen 'top' players who came lookin for a ring. So

we should go all out in these next 2 years to build a MONSTER!!

Joel Lawrence, I will respond to your suggestion:

I'm a big fan of Marc Gasol and would like to see him on a Lakers Jersey. As you said his contract with Memphis expires next year but he will be a RESTRICTED free agent. So if we offer him any money straight up, Memphis can match that offer and I believe they will, and they get to keep him. BTW we would only be able to offer him the MLE. (about 6 Mil.)because we are over the CAP.

The only way to acquire him would be via a trade. Memphis will only trade him if they know they can't sign him to a long term deal and believe they will end up losing him because he wants to play elsewhere.

So, they can do a sign and trade: They will sign him at a greater salary than he is making right now (possibly 8 or 9 Mil.) and trade him away. The question is do you think he will want to play back up for the Lakers knowing that he can start for any team except Orlando at this point. I don't think so.

So if he is going to play with brother Pau, he will want to start. Meaning that the Lakers would have to trade Bynum for him. The Lakers may pursue OJ Mayo with that deal, and another prospect. That may work. Depending on your views of Bynum.

Frankly, Marc Gasol is not back-up center material. He's a starter and an up and coming star at his position. So he will never back up Andrew Bynum.

thank you. Wanted to hear others opinions. Any back up would be best....Mark is a bit of a pipe dream ...i realize.

I think the lure, to Mark Gasol, to win a championship with his brother will be great. He is young enough that he can come here for a year or three..and still start elsewhere. He is a starter everywhere else...so i realize that might be what he wants. But he can get the rings first, and money second. How much would he pay for the memories of winning championships with his Pau? A lot im gonna guess...esp since he is young and can get the money later in his career.

However, i will accept any young Center (3rd string) for a one year contract to suck up minutes from Drew and Theo. Saving them for the playoffs.

My bigger question is...Everyone thinks we need a guard for perimeter shooting. That's good for us....but it will not make or break us. If Bynum goes down we are SO SCREWED. So the next move is a young gun 2nd string center to suck up minutes. Its worth both 2011 draft picks (esp if we keep both rookies).

Again...if we get a 'Luke IR exemption for this year we can find a great SG in Europe without loosing draft picks.

Joel,

Keep in mind that if Bynum goes down the likely scenario is Pau at center, Odom at PF, with Ratliff and Caracter backing the center and PF positions respectively.

Pau is better than most centers starting in the league now. It is not his natural position and I wouldn't want to see him banged up before the playoffs but he can play center.

As far as third string back ups there is Earl Barron who is a FA and played for the Knicks last year. He could be signed for the Vets minimum, but there may be a reason why no one has signed him.

One option I like is trading Sasha to NYK for Ronny Turiaf, he knows the system and has played under Phil. He can also play center and PF. He is slightly cheaper than Sasha at 4M and can opt out of his contract next year.

GO LAKERS!

Just thinkin another back up center (3rd) is best move to do next.

We can work around it (yes)...but can we 3 peat without Drew healthy...? No.

If he had been totally unavailable this last post season we would have likely lost at some point.

Next season will even more challenging....believe it or not.

Mark gives us a options to trade Drew (dont want to)...but if we had to.

If its Sasha v. Shannon and were not talking about the money...? God thats tough. When Sasha stays in the system, takes smart shots and plays dogged defense I think he is the better player.

However....He doesnt do any of that. He shoots the ball when he shouldnt. He overplays on defense and commits stupid fouls. And the coaches dont seem to like him. Im guessing his teammates thinks he is a bit of a yutz too.

Shannon really can only do one thing consistently and we know what that is. A well timed dunk can be a momentum changer. He can do that. But thats it. But id still take Shannon over Sasha for a couple reasons. He is coachable. He is likeable. He can improve and he has time to develop a consistent shot. His defense will probably remain spotty but at least he wont have Farmar to trip all over this year.

Shannon
