Lakers' Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Ron Artest and Andrew Bynum discuss Lakers' 92-86 Game 5 loss to Boston

The Lakers aren't the only ones that didn't have things go their way last night. I had some technical issues with my camera. Unlike the Lakers, however, I adjusted to the obstacles I faced. Below are audio portions of interviews I gathered in the locker room.

Lakers forward Pau Gasol on Game 5 loss to Boston

Lakers guard Derek Fisher on Game 5 loss to Boston Celtics

Lakers forward Lamar Odom on Game 5 loss to Boston

Lakers forward Ron Artest on Game 5 loss to Boston

Lakers center Andrew Bynum on Game 5 loss to Boston

What the heck. Gone for the weekend and the first post I read is an attack on Mamba24? Oh no you didn't.

No defense, getting boxed out on rebounds, too much dribbling and not enough passing the ball. I have to hand one thing, grudgingly, to the C's. They played swarming defense. It was their last game in front of their home crowd and they played like it.

However, that said, I don't see us losing game 6, and anything can happen game 7. I said from the start this is our year and I'm not wavering from it. It took Ray Allen giving a super human effort on the road for them to win game 2, and they haven't won in our venue past that. Yeah, I know they only have to win one. But I'm still not worried. It was the most poorly played game this series, and it just won't happen again. Let the papers get all over the whole "It's looking a lot like 2008..." angle. But it's STILL not 2008. The Lakers will pull this out, I've no doubt. We did one of the things I wanted us to do, and that was to win in Boston. And we won. Handily. The DR pulls a Mark Cuban and send film to the league. All of the sudden they're getting phantom calls. It didn't win them the game per se, but it helped. And that's not whining about the refs. That's cold hard facts talking. Pull out the game tape and take a look.

Look you guys - it's not over 'til it's over. Not scared even a little bit of Boston taking this series.

GO LAKERS!!!!

I'm so looking forward to the game on Tuesday. Green will die that day.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Larche2000 that rocked!

Sorry guys. I'm not buyin' it.

The Lakers were SUPPOSED to show up last night with their A game.

They showed up instead with their C game.

And this is after a few days to ponder the loss in game 4, and in knowing that they'll face elimination if they lose game 5.

Oh, the Lakers did have 'em right where they wanted, but they blew it.

Do you hear me? BLEW IT.

And why? Are the Celtics a superior talent? Are the Celtics truly better physically?

No.

Oh, don't get me wrong. The Celtics are obviously tougher than the Lakers, but not in the way you'd expect in prior years.

No, the Lakers are mentally INFERIOR.

How else do you explain laying an egg when you have a full week to practice in the away arena and when you have two full days to make adjustments and correct all the reasons you lost the prior game?

I expected the Lakers to show up, but last night, I saw the Clippers.

I was willing to put cold hard cash on the line against the trolls. Apparently that was more than almost every player on the Lakers was willing to put on the line.

There's a problem when the fans care more than the players in a crucial game 5 of the NBA finals.

I'm sorry, I'm just not buying it.

Oh yeah, I'll admit, the Lakers are better than this. But are they? What good is physical talent and experience if you're mentally weak?

Show me something, or STFU.

And now for morning Heads will Roll Call:
Lamar Odom
Ron Artest
Shannon Over-Rated Brown
Pau Soft Gasol
Jordan Farmar
Derek massively over-rated Fisher

Show up, or get your a**es off the team.

Don't believe me?

Watch you get booed if you lay another egg this season.

Do what you're capable of, and we cheer you down Figueroa.

Seems pretty simple, doesn't it? Well, only if you have the mental fortitude to take this seriously.

"WE NEED MORE BANDWAGONS"

YES WE CAN

Larry, well at least we're Commin' Home Baby

Mark G (yes it is me)

any slouch on Gasol? or u r just finesse and skill?

ouchhhhh, don't start with me:)

You can go millions over the cap but you can't buy mental toughness.

Its' not about Pau's muscles, it's about his head. LO and ROn have famous mental lapses. Fish is mentally as tough as there is but his body can't always cash the check his mind writes.

Kobe Bryant is one of the only super stars that earns his paycheck.

Lakers in 7 anyway... easier to be mentally tough at home.

We live with the Lakers for 82 games, for the playoffs, for the five games in the Finals. It is not too late to hitch our wagon with them till Tueday and see if there is still Thursday. We can still win it all if we are going to will it.

There is always a time to talk of player changers but at this time we should stay united, have faith, believe in what is possible.

Any Laker fans going to game 6 tomorrow night, please please please make it the loudest place on the planet. The Lakers need some energy, I really thing they are the better team but the emotion from Boston as not been matched. At home the Lakers need that same energy. LA needs this, make the Staples center a factor in the series!!! Please!

finally some of you will see that calling Gassy SOFT it is not about him not being a banger or a tough guy. i never cared about that. actually if you go back and read posts i never called him SOFT.

ONLY after that 8 game road trip when he was pathetic. and not only that, he started to complain about TOUCHES, deflecting his responsibilities and throwing Kobe under the bus.

and now he runs his mouth and declared KG slow. ironically, they GOT Perk on him in Game 3 and he fizzled. and against SHEED he is toast. a PF that plays 10-12 FT from the rim and sometimes he is on the 3 point line. what kind of triangle is THAT?

what kind of POSTING is that?

GASOL ID GUTLESS.

it's not important if i'm right or not as long as the Lakers WIN. but it was a de-service to the TEAM for people not pointing this out and to fluff him in the past few months. he is delusional. and the Kobe hater press and media r supporting Gasol to undermine KOBE. and all that backfired.

PJ knows that Gassy is SOFT. but PJ wants the TEAM game because of his EGO. he does not want KOBE to be brilliant. he wants the TEAM to win. and the TEAM is a bunch of midgets. brain midgets.

and yesterday, all the PJ strategy and the TEAM weakness was TOTALLY exposed

Two shots at redemption. Two games for the only prize that matters. Don't let them celebrate on our home court. No. Can't happen. Kobe, it's time for some supernatural stuff. I still believe.

Go Lake Show!

And ouchhhhhhhhh, you're a fool.

I think I'm being a little harsh on Fish here. I mean, the guy (overall) has played a decent series.

I don't know, maybe another one of his pep-talks will do the trick.

That, or maybe Kobe needs to start slugging people in the face, a la MJ.

another interview with Gasol, the prophet of aggressiveness, is insulting to any fan's BB knowledge

same with LO. how many years did we put UP with HIM?

and now we have the NEW ron ron who tells us that he FEELS that next game he will make the FT's. it's his journey from loser to winner? do we care?

Lack of mental toughness, physically inferior, bad bench

whatever the reasons we could think of.....

Lakers will still prevail in Game 6 at home and carry it thru Game 7.

Nobody will cheer for the Lakers except the real Laker fans.

Outlaw

stick to parenting so your son won't be ONE

NOW, TAKE A DEEP BREATH . . .

I can understand all the raw emotional venting that has been posted here overnight. Last night was a tough loss. It not only put Lakers down 3-2, but really presented questions about Laker defense that have not been an issue before now (exceptions being Ray Allen's record streak and Big Baby's moment).

Venting is good. But let's not lose sight of what being a Laker fan is all about. It is about cheering on our team, especially when things are difficult.

Home court is a plus, but it is not the solution. WE all know what the solution to this difficult Celtic-puzzle is. In spite of the letdowns that have resulted in a 3-2 deficit, are there any Laker fans here that DO NOT believe the Lakers are incapable of beating the Celtics at Staples?

Enough with the "trade him" and "blame him". It is time to be have the same way we cry for our team to behave. BE MENTALLY STRONG... DO NOT QUIT! It is what being a true Laker fan is all about.

You are NOT a TRUE LAKER FAN if you ...
--Say you are not even going to watch the game
--Cry about the past when the present still matters
--Talk about trading the very players who can still win this thing
--Badmouth the team or coaching staff with irrational attacks
--Ridicule the character of team players you so recently cheered
--Lose focus on what matters ---- GAME 6

You ARE a TRUE LAKER FAN if you ...
--Cheer for the team against all odds
--Hold on to hope at all costs
--Support the team in difficult moments
--Loyalty even when it hurts

This blog will live on thanks to the TRUE LAKER FANS who never quit, never give up, never stop believing, never fail to support the team... PERIOD! The fickle will come and go. The trolls will come and go. Permanent residents of this blog are limited to the TRUE LAKER FANS.

As you challenge the Lakers to "man-up" and be all they can be in Game 6, perhaps it is time to make the same challenge to that face in the mirror.

Mike

OUT FREAKIN STANDING SIR!!!

how about Pollyanna Laker fans?????????????????????

looks like this is the ONLY team blog where if ONE is criticizing the TEAM or some of the players is considered as not being a FAN.

i'm happy you ALL enjoyed last night performance. it was uplifting.

LETS CHOCKE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for some home cooking. Two wins at home away from a title.

no problem.

Both of the last two losses were still within about 5 or 6 late, but the Lakers couldn't quite break through. At home, even improved contributions from Farmar and Brown will make up that difference. And you can bet Pau won't get punked like that again. He'll step up and take the shots when they're given to him and make a better percent of them.

It's a shame that the Lakers couldn't have closed them out in 6, but they'll get this done.

"even improved contributions from Farmar and Brown will make up that difference"

did u just forgot LUKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE???????????????

Why do we play 82 games before the playoffs start? At this point in the playoffs, does anyone care that Lebrick received MVP during the season? We fought for 82 games to get HOME COURT. We have it!

In a 2-2-1-1-1 format, home court should be up 3-2 after 5 games. In the 2-3-2 format, home court is down 3-2.

I'm not worried at all. This series is playing out exactly how the NBA wants it to. Game 7 is guaranteed.

Watch for Jordan and Brown to have big impacts at home. Jordan looks like he wants this one bad. He may make some horrible decisions, but he is playing with a lot of heart. Especially with little man Nate barking in his ear. That's not going to happen in LA. Big Baby will be put down for his nap. Nate will shrink into the floor. And Perkins or/and Sheed will get a tech for arguing with Jack!

Go Lakers!

WHEN LAKERS LOSE FACTIONS PREVAIL:

1. Kobe Faction: Leader ouchhhh, second in command Kblitz and underling Hobbitmage

2. Pau Faction..leader lonesome dove Ricky becuase others are scared to face the wrath of ouchhhh, such scared cats..

3. Bynum Faction: Leader LakerTom and his diciples CornerJ, Staples4, Nemeia. Currently BynumSwami is in retreat at one with the Universe and his followers patiently await his return, stay tuned.

4. Bottom Feeders: Captain Jack, Celticnation, Red love child (bastard) and 131-92,

5. Confused Lakers fans rainbow Coliation: Leader Edwin Gueco, followers Mamba24, LakerMike, Art-the-lakerfan, UTZworld, Mark G, Justaanothermambafan & noah

6. Zen: FAR SIDE

Kobe was a BEAST last night...WOW.
But the rest of the team....well, they were horrible.
It's up to you guys, help Mamba on his task, THE RING!!
Cheers.

FAR SIDE

LOL. thanks. i will embrace the responsibilities.

i want to ADD a small * to

2. Pau Faction..leader lonesome dove Ricky becuase others are scared to face the wrath of ouchhhh, such scared cats.*

* because Pau Gasol and the Lakers will be scared to face the WRATH of KOBE

ACCORDING TO LAKER MIKE'S POST BELOW: I reckon ouchhh, hobbit, Mark G and Edwin Gueco are trolls and not lakers fans and I will have to agree:

You are NOT a TRUE LAKER FAN if you ...

1. Sorry, the term "Pollyanna" is for weak-minded, mealy-mouthed, drifters. I use the term "loyal" because it requires mental-toughness, resolve and courage.

2. It is not the "criticism" of the team (even venting) that I address. Read it again. Get focused on what matters. Do what is best for the team and fight off the temptation of selfishness or self-preservation which indulge a midget-budget-mentality.

3. True Laker fans did NOT enjoy last night's performance. We died a thousand deaths... and live on to cheer another day.

4. (Ummm ... it is spelled "choke") If Celtics defeat Lakers in Game 6, cheer the Lakers AND admit that Boston was the better team... NOT Lakers choke.

we as fans need to show some freaking heart. yes, we are down 3-2, but yes we also still have HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. we win next game and the series is tied 3-3. Then who do you like? I'll take the Lakers at home, thank you very much.

Everybody on the Lakers not named Kobe, plays better at home. Remember, prior to Ray Allens historical game 2 performance, the Lakers have not lost at home this playoffs. Obviously it is do or die time, but I believe the Lakers will DO!

who's coming with me!!!!!!!!!!

I love how in the huddle phil was telling the lakers " This is a team that knows how to lose, they are showing us that right now!" I guess he got his teams mixed up...

Go celtics!!

It's not over. That's the bottom line. We have game 6, and the team needs to put every ounce of heart and soul into that game. Nothing else matters. Staples will be rockin big time. The players need to feed off of that. We can do this!

Game 6, Game 6, Game 6, Game 6, Game 6-----Nothing else matters except 4 qtrs of hell for the Celtics in game 6. 48 minutes of ALL OUT hustle, effort, intensity, execution, everything. We need to throw everything at the Celtics, even if that means putting Mbenga in there to drop kick Big Baby. Even if it means Shannon Brown has to clothesline Nate Robinson.

Seriously though, we will take some big punches in game 6. We have to keep our heads and keep fighting. We have to have a 2-track mind right now; Game 6-keep fighting, Game 6-keep fighting, Game 6-keep fighting.....

Game 6-Keep fighting!
All out-Game 6!
We can do this!
Go Lakers!

It's not over!

*
I HAVE FAITH, WIN 2 AT HOME IS WHAT WE’LL DO
THEN WILL GET A RING FOR YOU – BANDWAGON
*
(00) PHIL JACKSON - 10RINGS - It's basically defending HOME COURT. That is the way it's suppose to be , isnt it?
(01) 2PHATT – OWNER – I have Faith in the next two at home Stop worrying Wes, WE GOT THIS
(02) FAITH – DRIVER - I am FAITH & I have FAITH
(03) JUSTANOTHERMAMBAFAN – RIDING SHOTGUN -
(04) NEVER - RIDING SHOTGUN2 - Come on Lakers. I believe in you.
(05) WESJOENIXON - SGT-AT-ARMS - There is no game 7, only game 6. Nothing but game 6, everything is game 6. I am ready.
(06) ZAIRA - GODDESS OF INSPIRATION - Get it together my Lakers. I might be angry, disappointed and let down now, but I still wear you up on my heart sleeve and I STILL BELIEVE 16 ring is ours to take NOW. I know you have it in yourself. And I still choose to show you love instead of any other feeling, today too, to make your pride and skill and hustle blossom out from exactly that love that you still inspire me. I do believe in Win after Love. Prove me right. Please.
(07) LUDWIG - SECURITY - Kevin Tully writes, "IF Fisher didn't go crazy in game 3 in the 4th quarter you guys would have lost in 5 games."Guess what, royal nitwit, if Ray Allen doesn't set a world record in game 2, then it would be 3-2 Lakers going back to L.A., with the last two at Staples Center, series over.
Two can play that bullshit game, moron.
(08) MAMBA24 - Call me a fool but I still believe...WE GOT THIS
(09) LEARNMEDIA - MEDIA DIRECTOR - Don't panic. Two wins at home is very doable. However, it seems the bigger and more rugged the game, the more Pau disappears. Still we got a great shot at winning two at home. I repeat, don't panic Lakers faithful. Oh, and somebody please tell T.J. Simers that Our Ball Hog as he refers to him was the only one playing with heart and given that the rest of the Lakers offense had gone ghost on us, Kobe's shooting kept us in the game at all. Not sure the rest of the Lakers would have shot a better percentage in the 3rd quarter.
(10) mti312 - Gasol have cost the Lakers late in close games. Celtics were going to choke but was saved by a couple of good breaks. Anyway, this will not happen in LA. c=choke

(18) BRONXLAKERFAN - I believe that the Lakers will win it, still. They won game 3 in Boston, guaranteeing a return to Staples, and fought hard in both games in Boston. The Celtics came through with big wins. Now they have to win another game in Cali. If they can, they will deserve to be crowned champs. But the Lakers are no slouches and it won't be easy. We shall see.
(19) SPIKE TOPIAN - I'm shocked at the comments hammering Kobe. Are you nuts? Kobe single handedly kept the Lakers in the game. Pure and simple. Ride the hot hand... that's what the Celts have done to win game 2 (Allen's 3's), game 4 (Big Baby), and game 5 (Pierce). Kobe was on fire and he was man enough to carry the Lakers on his back... and it almost worked! Also, I'm sick of hearing people daydream what it would be like if Ariza were here instead of Ron-Ron. Are you kidding me? Here are the simple facts: Ariza this year shot 39% from the field, and 32% from the three. He is not half the defender that Artest is. Last year, Ariza played over his head and will never play like that again. On the other hand, Ron has been in a slump and when he plays to his potential in games 6 and 7, the Lakers will have won another championship.
(20) LET'S GO L'S - Regardless of what happens in 2010 and beyond, the lakers will be back...As for Boston, free-agency and max contracts will doom their team for years to come. (21) LONGTIMELAKERFAN - The Celtics knew that if they lost this game there's no way they could take two in LA, so they played with desperation and they won. Other than Kobe, Boston wanted it more than the Lakers. Now the Lakers come home and win games 6 and 7 to take the championshIP.

Simers that Our Ball Hog as he refers to him was the only one playing with heart and given that the rest of the Lakers offense had gone ghost on us, Kobe's shooting kept us in the game at all. Not sure the rest of the Lakers would have shot a better percentage in the 3rd quarter.

I'M WITH YA BROTHER!!
MAMBA24

I'm going to reserve my criticism of Phil Jackson since we're still in a championship run. But, I'm really annoyed by Magic Johnson. I don't know what his motive was. Not only he predicted Celtic wins in game 4 & 5, at the half time at game 5, he sounded like a cheerleader for the Celtic. If he continues to talk like that, I think we should start a boycott of his business in Los Angeles. Who wants to start a bandwagon on this?

So I'm not a true fan for publicly calling out the manhood of the players I cheer for?

Someone needs to call out these guys. They obviously won't man up on their own.

I hope one of their PR directors read this ish and relays "the people are mad. Make your effing shots" (or something along those lines)

These guys are paid professionals. Time to act like it.

There was no excuse for last night. NONE.

Good thing trolls are just here to disrupt and don't actually believe the crap they talk about, or I'd be out some cold hard cash.

I'm willing to put it on the line for my team.

Gasol will never be a gritty player. But after two subpar games, he's 2008 Gasol, all of a sudden? I don't necessarily think so. KG was considered washed up a week and a half ago after a bad game or two. He goes back to his homecourt, and what do you know? He's hitting tough shots and pounding his chest again.

Give the C's credit, they were due for good games from all of their Big 4 and they got them. Pierce was due for a good game and he pretty much hit a series of tough shots that were decently defended. In hindsight, it was gonna be really tough for LA to win two of three against the C's in Boston. They just don't like playing there and Boston has been able to conjure some of the old mystique.

That being said, if this team has any championship mettle, then they'll rebound tomorrow night. Boston is ripe for a loss tomorrow night, after 1 day's rest, and the minutes their starters played, they should be a little more fatigued than they were on two days' rest at home between games 4 and 5.

LA's had their chances. They froze against the C's bench in Game 4, and flat out didn't rebound or shoot FTs well in Game 5. But the game that hurt them the most thus far is Game 2. Allen's treys and Rondo's boards in that game were the difference between a 5-6 game series adv. Lakers to a 6-7 game series adv. Boston.

I feel pretty good about LA's chances tomorrow. They punch back and win Game 6, they're in very good shape for Game 7.

Now, with the message of challenge having been delivered (and quite well by you), I am just reminding all true Laker Fans that we must march together in the same way we call out the team. FOCUS... TOUGHNESS... NO QUIT... STRENGTH... CHARACTER...

Brothers and Sisters of Laker Nation,

I'm leaving Ohio after several years of enternment among LeBroniacs. I'm driving cross country, so I won't be able to post over the next several days, but I'll be with you in spirit as I watch the game somewhere from rural Nebraska on Tuesday.

We remember the last Game Six.

Let's make this one very, very different.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Well said!

LakerMike,

Great post, as usual.

Each team has stolen one game on their opponent's home court. If no one else loses a home game this series, I guess we'll be watching a parade down Figueroa, right?

I'll believe in my team right down to the final buzzer. Always.

Go Lake Show!

Is it just me, or is Paul Pierce closer to MJ than bryant when the two face off in the playoffs?

Pierce seems to have the edge over bryant. It's not a direct comparison, but just the head to head matchup. If BOS wins, this will nail the door shut on those ridiculous comparisons.

Look y'all, I'm the biggest pessimist out here, as some can attest from previous posts. I am definitely NOT a kool-aid drinker and this particularly Laker team frustrates the hell out of me (particularly Odumb, Farmar and regular season Fisher), as well as when Kobe goes Ball Hog mode. This team just ain't the Showtime Lakers and never will be...

That said, as pissed as I am about the last two games, I still think WE GOT THIS. Here is what we need to keep in perspective:

1) This Laker team IS NOT dominant and Boston is a good, veteran team. If this were the 2000-2003 Lakers, we might have a real reason to be disappointed at their play last night, but this team has been inconsistent all year, especially on the road, and last night was another example. Frankly, I'm just happy they won one in Boston and we got the series back to LA....going to Boston, I was really concerned about a sweep, not because I think Boston is that good, but because this Laker team is so mentally weak on the road.

2) Game 5 was a MUST WIN for the Celtics. They basically had no chance to win the title if they lost last night, so they played like it...the Lakers played like they missed their beds at home. This isn't an excuse, but just a reality, especially given the mental weakness of this team other than Kobe and Fisher (the Showtime Lakes would have shown up, win or lose, but they were a much tougher team mentally). Last night's outcome was predictable. Also, I think last night was Game 7 for Boston and they shot their wad (and still only won by six) and their old legs. Which leads to #3:

3) Boston is old and they are going to play their best games with 2 days rest -- Games 2 and 5. Flying across the country and playing on the road, with one days rest, doesn't bode well for them (exhibit A: Game 5 against the Magic, in which they were schooled). I truly believe if we had played Game 2 on one day's rest, we would have beaten them solidly like Game 1.

4) Lakers have been nails at home in the post season and it took an historic performance by Ray Allen to beat us in Game 2 (and some bad calls and two days rest and some Laker over confidence). I don't believe that is going to happen again. At least the odds aren't good for them happening.

5) In general, role players and bench players play MUCH better at home than on the road. Meaning that I believe we will see Artest, Lamar and the rest of our bench play well -- or at least decently -- and we will see their bench look a lot more human...a lot more. If our bench plays even with their bench and Lamar and Artest show up, I don't see how they win at Staples.

6) Pau will school KG again at Staples...this is guaranteed. Pau is soft on the road, but he is much better at home. Plus, we'll see KG hit the bottom of the rim on a few lay-ups in the second half of games 6 & 7 -- it's the old legs, stupid. KG is going to look more like the KG of Games 1,2. Again, I feel this is pretty much guaranteed.

7) With their backs to the wall, the Lakers will be focused the entire time -- a constant problem and frustration with this team. Focused Laker team = win at home.

So, I think we are going to win two games at home and break a lot of Bostonian hearts.

My prediction: Game 6 will be a tough street brawl with the Celtics still energized from Game 5 and the Lakers still looking for their mojo. Down by 4 at half, the Lakers pull away in the three quarter and fourth quarters and win 97-90.

Game 7 will be a statement game. With the Celtics running on fumes and the Lakers smelling a championship, the Lakers will take a 9 or 10 point lead into halftime and then blow the doors off in the third quarter. Adam Morrison and DJ get a minute of burn at the end of the game and the Lakers win the title 105-88.

Book it Dano.

Game 7 will be a statement game with the Celtics playing on fumes.

Mamba24,

you posted: As you challenge the Lakers to "man-up" and be all they can be in Game 6, perhaps it is time to make the same challenge to that face in the mirror.

OUT FREAKIN STANDING SIR!!!

my response:

Why? Are you saying that Kobe did not "man-up"?

After all the injuries that Kobe has endured this season ....
After all of the last minute heroics this season ...
After enduring the lackadaisical play from teammates this season ...

Why are you telling Kobe to "man-up"?

OUCHHHHH:

By the way I do rememeber Mamba24's threat to lakerfan which happens to be me and not a troll and remember him disappearing for few days and then happened with Rick, went in exile. Anyhoo please wipe the snot off your nose, indeed ithas been dribbling all morning and enough..

Thank You for the MOST level-headed post I've read so far. Love your predictions... Gonna go call my Bookie right now... =)

Laker Fans, PAY ATTENTION and TROLLS BEWARE!!!

lakers... lakeRS... lakERS... laKERS... lAKERS... LAKERS!!!

LLLLAAAAKKKKEEEERRRSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody said that would be easy...Boston is not Orlando Phoenix or Utah.

Everybody relax and chill out!

So we have to win 2 games at home and odds are on the Celtic's side? NO WAY!

So Game 1 was critical because Phil never lost after winning it. Game 3 was key because winner of game 3 wins the rind... Game 5 is critical because winner got the championship 19 of 25 times...rebounds win the game, second chance opportunities win the game...PLEASE forget about all stupid statistics that media provide as the rule of thumb. That does not mean anything!! Why we watch the games otherwise?

We love the sport and we love the Lakers, we love to see 0.4 shots, 0.7 tip in shots, bank shots at the end of the buzzer, key steals, key blocks and overall we love to see our Lakers winning.

If we win 2 more games we will win the ring. Thats the only truth.

Fasten your seatbelts, Let's get ready for Game 6!!

GO LAKERS!!!!

OK, in a way it doesn't matter, since you don't get to decide anything, but. . . you said I'm not a real Laker fan because I've done one of the following:

"You are NOT a TRUE LAKER FAN if you ...
--Say you are not even going to watch the game
--Cry about the past when the present still matters
--Talk about trading the very players who can still win this thing
--Badmouth the team or coaching staff with irrational attacks
--Ridicule the character of team players you so recently cheered
--Lose focus on what matters ---- GAME 6"

Unfortunately you gloss over one somewhat pertinent little fact: I HAVEN'T DONE ANY OF THOSE THINGS!

Worry about your own Laker cred and I'll worry about mine.

One last thing, people who are "Zen," don't make lists about what "factions" other people are in, and they don't need to point out their own Zeness to others. Just so you know.

RESPONSE:

Kobe needs to lead and not become a one man show, the reason Lakers lost last night, no ifs ands butts.

True and Great Leaders have innate ability to bring out the best in ordinary people during the time of adversity and Kobe painfully lacks in this department. I don't care how tough, baddest, greatest he is but if he can't lead his troop in battle field then he has failed and lost the battle and lives of his troope. In real battle field the stakes are higher as the onus is on the leader to lead his team to safety, no second chance. So we are only talking BB and Kobe has one chance to try again to lead.

We are where we need to be - both the Lakers and the fans.
Our collective mental toughness is being tested. Are you up to the challenge?

I am!!!!

2-3-2. Nothing has been decided.

This is not over by a long shot. Overcoming demons (literally, not metaphorically in this case) is supposed to be hard. We will prevail!!!

Go, Lakers!

People people, here's what we got to complain about. In the past three years we are in the Finals with a Title. Being a Yankee fan as well I'm kinda used to that. My son likes Yanks and Lakers too and is not happy about being down 2-3, but I ask him if he would rather be a Milwaukee Brewer and New Jersey Net fan. He didn't think so! We are going to be in the hunt for the next several years as well (need to make a couple adjustments).

now i have a good news

remember the C's were 3-0 against Orlando and they could not close it out at home??????????

but there is a difference. the magic started to play faster and they run the C's out of the Garden. the lakers r playing slow, they walk up the ball with Fish or LO and the C's defense is ready for the attack.

i do not care about Barkeley's comments but in this case i'm on his side: in both the Cavs and magic series he said that both teams have to play faster against the C's to surprise them offensively and not to let their defense to settle and to be ready. also that will take out the steam and shooting of PP and Allen, or KG and his gimpy knees.

maybe the Lakers staff does not pay attention to that detail. too bad. also the STUPID triangle offense requires that the players take time to get their position. not the best solution.

(cont.)

game 6 is a closing Game for the C's

the C's sounds almost like deceased!!!!!!!!!!!!

Win or lose, I hope Mitch and Doc do a sign and trade for either LBJ, D-Wade, Bosh or straight out trade for CP3. I think the only two I would keep as untouchable would be Kobe (DUH) and probably Pau. Just my thoughts. Of course I'm used to George signing whoever he wants, ha, ha! It's GREAT to be a lifelong Laker and Yankee fan!

Wow! It's all Kobe's fault as always. Like who is he supposed to pass to? He kept us in that game. At least I agree in blaming him for one thing lately, yeah, that 2009 Championship!

Pau vs. Perkins,, Wallace, Davis and Garnett.

1 big vs 4 bigs.

Sorry guys, but that is not a Matchup. Lakers can´t win this series b/c Celtics had more bigs, more players in the paint. Lakers only with Pau (Bynum, Powell, Mbenga???? The Lakers roster is a joke.

Celtics more Depth, better team. Celtics champion.

TWO HUGE QUESTIONS FROM LAST NIGHT:

1) Why wasn't the foul on Artest at the end of the game (after Kobe stole the jump ball and passed it to him) a breakaway clear path foul?? Should have been 2 shots PLUS the ball!

2) Why in the name of God did Phil play Sasha Lose-his-swish instead of Shannon Brown?????

Those 2 things might have made the difference!

Mark G:

Lakers in Six!

No more takers of Lakers in Six???

What happened... 2-3-1?

btw i still feel Celtics will run out of gas...

though i am loving the way all the arrogant fans are being humbled.. crying.. askin for someones head.. y did we not trade for him .. y did we not.. y y y..

What you think about Bynum????
What you think about Odom????
What you think about Artest???

Pau has not played well, but the Lakers problem is not Pau (23,25,13,21,12) This Team have only 2 players, the rest is pure garbage:

Bynum: Can´t play, year after year, series after series, finals after finals.
Fisher: 1 good game, 8 bad games.
Odom: Mistery. He can´t play well a simple game in this finals
Artest: ZERO, NADA
Kober: The best player around the world, but poor IQ. He understand´t the game. Unable to play teamwork.

BENCH: PURRREEEEE GARRBAGGGEEEEE

I thought that the Celts ran out of gas in many 4 Q's thus far and wondered myself if we would run some? But basically PJ doesn't ever change much!

PS - Kobe is obviously the best in the game but we will NOT win unless:

1) Lamar comes out of his Khloe-and-candy induced trance and starts to play like the man Buss shelled out the big bucks for. WAKE UP LAMAR! This is not mellow. This is not fun. This is tough Championship ball against the Celtics!

2) Artest stops dribbling and taking jump shots and instead focuses on stopping Pierce from dribbling and taking jump shots. Artest is our equivalent of Rodman with the Jackson/Jordan Bulls. Only Rodman played super-D and rebounded and DIDN'T dribble and take jump shots. Get it Ron????

@JON K, Good luck brother have a safe trip.
@ LAKERMIKE, The spirit never left any of us, we just needed a lil time to let
it percolate back up

RESPONSE:

YES, as a matter of fact there are hundrededs of instances in history where soldiers, warriors have not only desserted a weak, self loathing leader but also have turned on their leader and killed him. So I am not surprised Kobe's team mates unable to help when Kobe decides to win it on his own and not corrale them for help. Go figure!!

Shannon a dozen minutes, not seconds, and a dozen points, Tuesday.

We were in games 4 and 5 but couldn't punch through. Pau was not himself last night at all. Every time he messed up, he looked like he was about to cry. We can't have that in game 6. The celtics were the more aggressive team after game 3. They knew they had to have a series lead coming back 2 LA cause no team has ever won game 6 and 7 on the road. Lakers just looked satisfied with winning game 3. We must play with a sense of urgency or we will watch the most arrogant team in the NBA celebrate on our court. In the piece that espn did on our team(the association), Derek Fisher said "Personally I believe we have what it takes, but it'll be tested more than it ever has in recent years, and we'll have to dig deeper than we've ever had to dig" He was right. In order to win 2 in a row ( championships) we have to win 2 in a row( game 6 and 7). We will.

Kobe vanishes.. when Lakers get desperate only thing ur mighty kobe knows is jacking up 3's.. like in 08 Finals.. he started jacking up 3's .. in return of 3 failed Kobe attempts were 3 3's from posey and house.. from 8 pts deficit LAKERS were looking at 17 pt Deficit.. Game over ... RESULT 131-92!

Kobe destroyed ur chances yesterday .. he made his teammates get cold, uninterested, and when he takes that many shots in like the 3rd .. wears his own legs.. had u stuck with going to the post .. more ball movement.. maybe u could have overcome the 7 pt deficit.. Keep playing Kobe against a whole team.. like 04 and 08 ...

then ofcource when he looses.. he comes out with 38 pts, valiant effort, and can blame Gasoft and Artest and who ever. However much u want to blame Dumb Odom and Gasoft .. they were 9 for 18... most of them down low... 10-15 more shots at point blank range.. Celtics would be all fouled out.. then u can get ur lil Kobe attack the rim ..

Ouchhhhhhh,

We all know Pau Gasol had a bad game yesterday. In my oppinion, offensively, he did not get into the game in all first half and he also looked very tired from the very beginning of the game (which makes me feel very worried) missing jumpers that he usually makes and being slow in transition (slower than KG). He wasn't able to post up more than maybe a couple of times and his inside out game was predictable being on the perimeter with Kobe heavily guarded and seeing that the open guys in the arc were jacking up shots or taking worse decisions than him. We can also see that Rondo and KG are smart enough to steal the ball once Kobe or Pau have no shooting option and throw a soft pass.
In that situation, is when Pau needs to take advantage of his skills and attack the rim where there is a very high percentage that it will be either fault or basket but he did not have the energy to do so.

Basically, we should wonder why our top guys are burnt off and we should put this in perspective. If you are 250lbs and you have to be 42-43 min per game "figthing" with 3-4 different guys that are heavier than you and play only 25-30 min per game you need to find a solution. When Paul Pierce comes to double team on the post we need to find a solution, when Artest is wide open on the arc and misses we need to find solution, whether Bynum's health, Odom's play etc...

Tru is that when legs don't respond you have to play with more heart and more guts and Gasol sometimes fails there (specially after a bad start).

BUT, that is not the point.

You can continue to bash Gasol and mock him or you can cheer for him and wish him well and cheer for the team. You can choose whether you prefer Gasol to fail and prove you right or Gasol to succeed, win the Championship and prove you wrong. So, what do you prefer Ouchhhhhh?

Mark G:

hehehehe hahahahaha kewl man, dude you are awesome and I knew you were chillax, wot up, supp, dude you know..you awight, you tight man.oooh man you bad, you dig..

*******************************************************

While I agree with a good portion of what you say to a certain extent... True and Great leaders DO have the ability to bring out the best, and here is where I DISAGREE with you, Kobe has shown his ability to make his teammates better(his MVP season, yes they lost to these Green Weenies, but you can't deny that he didn't show his leadership mettle). And not ONLY with the Lakers but let's look at what he did and meant for those he played with when Team USA reclaimed the Gold, then the Championship in '09 and all throughout this year(playing while injured). GREAT LEADERS lead from the FRONT, LEAD by EXAMPLE. You would think that after 3 years his teammates would know what is called for but... Some situations call for the LEADER to go ahead and take matters into his own hands and (to paraphrase 50 cent) GET RING, OR DIE TRYIN'!! And if seeing your LEADER do all that he can to keep you from losing, and you still can't GET UP to meet the challenge... If they can't motivate themselves in THE FINAL SERIES FOR ALL THE MARBLES then the onus is NOT on Kobe but to his teammates to prove and put into it what they have learned from him.

I believe that this TEAM can and WILL take the mantle from Kobe and put him on their backs for Game 6.

AT THE POST GAME INTERVIEW last night:

Magic pointed out that in order for Lakers to win Kobe needs to score in mid twenties, not in 30ies and allow his team mates to help with scoring..

It's really funny how the laker blog is like a big rollercoaster ride... we win and we are on a HIGH...we lose and the world is on top of us!

All the real laker fans will show there true colors in moments like this and support the team. We played ok for the 3 road games had a chance to steal both we lost but ran out of gas.

I still expect us to beat them quite easy in game 6 tho. For all the pierce is better than Kobe head to head talk... it isn't him who is killing us. Their bench has played really well at home (ours has disappeared on the road) and that will be nullified once we get back home. Our starting 5 is better and has how played their starting 5. I expect this to continue....ohh... Lakers your 2010 champs!

They won their two at home and one here, now it's our turn for some HOME COOKING. Our laker's respond very well when our backs are against the wall. We've got the greatest coach and the greatest player, and with that we will win it all. Go Laker's. we all are behind you!!!

DEFINITELY WORRIED AND SCARED!!!
That was supposed to be the feelings of the REALISTIC FANS. But we are in the blogs of DIE-HARD FANS so the feelings should be CONFIDENT NOT WORRIED AT ALL. I will consider myself in the Former kind of fan. You can be very confident but the fact is, what if the Celtics that won games 2,4 and 5 shows up on Tuesday? What if the Lakers that won games 1 and 3 never show up again? This will be the most painful sights to see.....Boston players celebrating in Staples Center. I hope I am wrong with my gut feelings, but do you remember Rasheed Wallace being a member of the Pistons beating the heavily favored Lakers in 2004? Rasheed might beat the Lakers again being a member of the Celtics this time. Deja vu?
