how come GASSY does not pitch IN regarding this game. is he lost of words. he always talks a lot

or did he LOST a STEP when guarding KG?

or did he lost a STEP when attacking KG? or Perk. definitely has no game against Sheed???????????

I was listening to Dr. Jack Ramsey on BSPN radio and his take on the Triangle Offense was really interesting.

First, he compared Laker bench players to Celtics bench players.
He said in the Triangle, the subs are expected to play the same role as the player they substituted did. So Farmar is expected to be Fisher and so on.
When the Celtics substitute, the player coming in is allowed the freedom to play to their strengths. So Nate is not expected to be Rajon and so forth.

Dr. Jack also said that the Triangle is too predictable and in a seven game series a disciplined defense like Boston is capitalizing on the predictableness of the Triangle.

These observations are pretty astute. Can anybody deny our bench or even our starters, besides Kobe, are not allowed to play to their own strengths?
It also doesn't help that everyone not named Kobe is going into their own little shell to hide.

One more thing Dr. Jack said about the Triangle, is that it is jump shooting offense. We could use some jump shooters.

I have to agree on all these points the Dr. made. The Triangle should go and just pick and roll all day long and let our players be all that they can be.

One thing is for sure, some Lakers better step up or I can see players being traded. There are a lot of great players out there in free agency who actually play hard all the time and have heart. Oh yeah I almost forgot, they are talented too.

Gasol have cost the Lakers late in close games.
Celtics were going to choke but was saved by a couple of good breaks.
Anyway, this will not happen in LA.

C = choke.

2010 is the year every Boston sports team will choke.

New England Patriots first
Boston Bruins was second.
Boston Celtics are next.

Boston = Choke City

Lamar odom should not be allowed to make postgame comments about "energy" and "confidence." Honestly, to put it into nice words, I'm sick of his ass, and I really dont care what he has to say from now on.

PAULA GASOFT IS BACK!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how soft is Pau Gasol?

9.0

On a scale of 1 to 10, how scared is Pau Gasol right now?

10.0

How much does kobe hate his teammates right now on a scale of 1 to 10?

sportsguy33 (Bill Simmons): I would say he's a 9.3. I have been to maybe 60 Lakers games in the past decade and have never seen him angrier than he was last 5 mins... his fists were balled in anger a couple of times. And it wasn't because of the refs.

Come on Lakers. I believe in you.

Here are the keys to Game 6 & 7:

Artest, Gasoft, Bynum and our bench will play better (I've given up on Odumb).

KG, Pierce and their bench will play worse (i.e. no more Game 4's).

Both teams will be tried from traveling across country, but that will impact the older Celtics more -- plus, the home crowd and elimination situation will rev up the Lakers.

Bottom Line: I am actually pretty confident that we can win both games and break the Celtics hearts.

Yeah, baby.

Will the 'magic' return at Staples? This was a rugged, tough 1-2 'ROAD TRIP' spending a week in Beantown.

Back home, guys, and hope for the following in Game 6:
1. LO shows up
2.D-Fish plays well; started off fine in the lst qtr, but didn't keep it going for the rest of the game.
3. Pau has got to get at least his 22-12
4. Ron-ron goes back to playing D like he did in Games 1 and 2
5. Bynum's minutes count for something after manning up and getting into Game 5.
6. Kobe plays like Kobe...

They'll play better at home...but can't look ahead to a Game 7 if they don't hustle, get to the loose balls, crash the boards and play better D.

LET'S GO, LAKERS!

I will continue to be a lifelong fan of my Lakers, but tonight something happened to me. I'm detached from this series. Not completely, but I just don't care much anymore. I think this was my own way of saving myself, as these Lakers losses were becoming too emotionally draining for me. No more anger, frustration, or anguish. I hope the Lakers win Tuesday, but if they don't, I don't care. I may not even watch the game.

So... let me get this right...
All the Lakers needed to do is play a solid, physical game against a team their coach, their fans, and their hometown sports-writers have already labeled and written off as "old" and "inferior" to take an insurmountable 3-2 series lead home to the Staples Center. But, not only did they fail - badly - they needed a herculean performance from their superstar to avoid a rout with a capital ROUT. Then, and this is the best part, a bunch of people go on the LA Times message boards and call the Celtics "Chokers".
You guys are a bunch of friggin geniuses.

There is no game 7, only game 6. Nothing but game 6, everything is game 6. I am ready.

Wes

NOTHING LIKE BEING HOME, SLEEPING IN ONE'S OWN BED..

wesjoe.....You damn right!

I predicted this series was over when the Lakers lost game 2. A championship caliber team losing at home because they didn't man up when it counts? That's when I knew they were going to lose the series. I predict another loss at home in game 6, and by DOUBLE DIGITS. Celtics will stomp over the Lakers in a repeat of the 2008 game 6, but at Staples. More demons for Lakers, who can't spell tough even if you spot them T-O-U-G. Get it over and let the misery go. Then let PJ go. It's time to put another offensive system in. Laker fans, stay home and save your money and fuel.

I see the clowns tom and ouchhhhh are back
and in every defeat.

Today more than ever I am convinced that this ring
will be for the lakers.

I do not think we're going to shoot worse than today
I do not think that the celtics will shoot better than today
and we have only lost by 6 points!!

This ring will be for the lakers
Stern will have their 7 games and play dirty Celtics shall be punished in the next two games is a matter of karma.

TODAY MORE THAN EVER
GOOOOOOOOOOOOO LAKERS
IS THE TIME TO BE WITH THE LAKERS

Two games for the glory anyone who believes in defeat
we have another team in town for you!!!!!!!
Fucking fake trolls and clowns lakers fans outta here!!!!!!!!

We're lucky to still be standing, and I feel goood about our chances to win it all. The Celtics blew it by losing that 1st game on their court. They absolutely blew it, because i see this Laker team with this coach and this star player rising up and stomping the Celtics in game 6. I really do. I feel good about what's about to go down. We worked hard all year to earn home court and we're about to see if it pays off. I bet it does.

Wes

troy, keep it up, man...
Again, we lost to ourselves. Regroup and win 2 games.
Cheers.

honestly, i like the optimism of the fans. There is something about playing on your home court. It takes a LOT to lose an elimination game on your home court, ESPECIALLY if it is for the championship. I mean, we are only 2 WINS away from a ring, even though it seems like we are so far back . All we need to do is win these 2 games, and it's not even like we have to travel or anything. We should be able to do it. I am confident we can do it, if everyone shows up. Everyone has to just believe.

I also just heard Kobe, Dfish and Gasol had a seperate meeting.

Troy, I feel your pain. This whole series really the whole season has been an emotional and physical toll for me. I take these games too seriously. I wish I can just fast forward to next week so I don't have to deal with all this drama.

After the parade and everybodies home in bed with that smile of victory, Mitch will be working how to get Ariza back. Trading LO, getting Shannon Brown to Op- out, not resigning Farmar, looking to un-load Luke and Sasha, not resigning DJ or Powell, re-signing D Fish for 2 years as player and asst.coach, sending Phil into the sunset, trading Pau and signing Bosh, finding a way to bring in Chris Paul will have plenty of cap space and finally a real bench. Thank you Dr. Buss

ummmm, trolls...you may not realize this, but Lakers still have the home court advantage.

Tonight we didn't execute down the stretch, didn't seize key opportunities and throw in a huge missed call on the 24 sec. violation and we just couldn't turn it around.

Seltic-fan, please continue to believe the series is over, it will make our ultimate victory all the sweeter.

Dock Rivers is a disgrace to NBA basketball. Just because the Boston are the home team, dosen't give them the right to have everything go their way. The refs are allowing the celtics to be rough but the lakers have to play as if they are standing on egg shels. Know other coach in the history of the NBA ever did what dock Rivers did. As everyone knows, the Boston celtics have always has the image of being americas team. From the 60's through the 80's, you could not beat Boston whether in Boston or anywhere else until the lakers of the magic johnson err showed up.

We are so lucky to have home court in these finals. There are a maxium of two games left in the year and they're both in Los Angeles. This is a seriously stressful time, but I can see a clear path to victory for us. We've got to believe!

Wes

I like how the Lakers fans are calling the Celtics chokers after Bryant had to put on a clinic of clinics to avoid his team from getting absolutely demolished. We were called chokers before in the Orlando series. At least be original. This isn't hockey. Jackson says in the timeout "This team knows how to lose in the 4th quarter. They're showing us now." Great advice Phil! Way to tell your team how to come together. This rivalry is incredible because Lakers fans honestly

The mean green laker killing machines are coming to your home and murdering your children

Stop worrying Wes, WE GOT THIS.

I will preface my comments by saying, "I am a diehard Lakers fan!" Now, I am going to speak the truth about what the Lakers have to overcome and why no one should be suprised if the Lakers do not win the championship

1.) Boston leads 3-2 and the winning team of a Finals game 5 after being tied 2-2 wins 72% of time

2.) Lakers have yet to win 2 consecutive games in this series

3.) Boston has already proven they can win in L.A., so it's not unimaginable that it can't happen again!

4.) Lakers have had no production from their bench, especially LO in 5 games

5.) AB is injured and inconsistent

So after examining these facts, there is very little reason to believe the Lakers will win. However, the Lakers have yet to play a complete game on both sides of the ball and no one other than #24 has played well in more than 1-2 games.

Finally, the best thing or two that the Lakers have going for them is that they haven't had to play in any must win games since the 2009 Houston series, unlike Boston who has played in plenty for the past few years, so that type of environment can bring the best out in teams;

And the second thing, is that the odds makers have handicapped the Lakers as a -7 point favorite in game 6:)

We'll see what proves right!

Troy: I feel the same as you, unfortunately I wasn't as successful at detaching myself from the disappointment of this loss; I'll probably have a hard time sleeping tonight.

Troy: I feel the same as you, unfortunately I wasn't as successful at detaching myself from the disappointment of this loss; I'll probably have a hard time sleeping tonight.

I guess I understand the optimism and comfort that many fans derive from knowing that the next game (hopefully 2) is (are) at home, but my concern is that this same level of comfort makes its way into the Lakers locker room.

Win or lose this series, I think this year's club has been an underachieving group from beginning to end. I lay that at the feet of Phil Jackson. Everyone focuses on the upside of his "zenlike" approach to the game, and how it instills a calmness in his players that allow them not to panic in stressful moments. That may be the case. What is also clear, is that there is a negative corollary to Phil's zen. Laker teams, from Phil's earliest days, have underperformed and had an attitude of "we'll turn it on when we need to". They are constantly outhustled, except when their backs are against the wall.

All is not lost (yet) this season, but the Lakers are on the brink, and I did not get the sense from postgame interviews that the players have internalized that fact. Instead, I see Lamar smiling and talking about "effort". I'm tired of the smiles and of the talk. For once, I'd like to see Lamar or Pau or Fish or Artest just say "I have no comment" and push a reporter out of the way. Get pissed. Show some passion. Give me some fire. But I won't hold my breath.

The point made at the top of this thread (quoting Jack Ramsay) is very appropriate. We run an offense that is designed to get jump shots. That worked great with the Bulls, who had shooters at practically every position, or with the 2000-2003 Lakers, who had a dominant force that could just force his way to the hoop. But now, with the current players, the triangle offense is getting open shots for guys who can't shoot. Shots are there for Artest, as they are for Lamar and Fish. Even Pau can generally get an open jumper. But the problem with this (predictable, according to Ramsay) offense is that a great defensive team can focus its efforts on one to two key guys and deny them good looks. That's what is happening to Kobe and to our bigs on the block.

So, we're getting nothing but wide open jump shots for a team that might be the worst jump shot shooting team in this year's playoffs. The result is that the better coached Celtics are holding the Lakers to fewer points in each game that is played. This is not the recipe for a title, and I'm not sure how the home court changes that....

Would you like a free trial?

hiltontown,

Although you used one of my all-time favorite words in your post, I hardly think that it is appropriate language for the 13 year olds who read this board, which, I believe, may represent about 75 percent of the Laker fan base, or so it seems.

Sonnybelfast

Hey,

If yours is a lost cause, you can always root for U.S.A. Soccer in the world cup.
Go U.S.A.!!!

Sonnybelfast

sonny,

I'm sure you're all too familiar with lost causes. If things don't work out in these Finals, please share with us how you cope with perennial losing and heartbreak. Thanks.

Pau is back where he was in 2008, getting spanked by KG who has found his game. We were thinking if the Celtics big 4 ever played well as a group they would rout the Lakers and if Kobe didn't go crazy, which you knew he eventually would, the Celtics would destroy the Lakers. You had Bynum play for 31 minutes and you lost. You had Kobe play the best he is capable and you lost. You had twice the free throws and you lost.
Can any Laker fan finally just admit it, the Celtics are CLEARLY the better TEAM??

Some of you nitwits don't know SQUAT about basketball, and even less about NBA basketball!

This is how it supposed to go in a 2-3-2 format. Boston should be up 3-2 going back to L.A. Now, if the Lakers lose game 6, then all you pansies and pussies (chicken-shit know-nothing Laker fans) can come on this site and spew your defeatist claptrap.

We have Boston EXACTLY where we should have them: 2-3 with the last 2 on OUR HOME COURT!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the phuck!!!

No, louder: WHAT THE PHUCK!!!

Just chillax, boys and girls, and have a good night sleep. The Lakers will win game 6 -- NO DOUBT IN MY MIND (NONE!!!!!) -- and then, and only then, you can start to sweat a little in game 7, but even then, you shouldn't have to worry too much!

The Los Angeles Lakers are the better team!!! And they will be home to close this thing out! Remember, the Lakers played like UTTER CRAP tonight, and they still had a chance to be within just TWO FREAKING POINTS with 39.6 left in the game (had Artest made that freaking basket and hit the "and one").

The Celtics played their best freaking game so far (the best collective effort by the big 4 anyway), and the Lakers played their worst game, and but for a blown 24-second violation call late in the 4th quarter, this game could have been FREAKING TIED wih one extra Lakers basket!!!

Just believe and the Lakers will be fine.

It's Lakers/Boston -- the NBA loves to milk these rare affairs.

Artest cost the lakers this game. He choked on the line 3 times down the stretch and is pretty slow. Unfortunately, Gasoft is back and doesn't even bother to get in the post. Actually no one besides Kobe showed up for game 5. LO's attitude seeped into everyone else. But he did seem to give more effort. Fisher was so emotional after game 3 he never recovered from that. The refs did call a pretty good game but messed up in the 4th. The problem I see is that just about everyone on the Cs can hit shots whereas in LA hardly no one besides Bryant can hit consistently. With Bryant I noticed he took the Priest advice and went to work from the top of the key.

So now finally the anti-kobes in lakersdom will shut up. If not for Kobe, the Lakers will fold up and just retain the sparks featuring their stars Gasoft and Odom. I cant believe the Lakers actually offered these guys a contract extension. Worse, they released Ariza. Gasoft is a girl and Odom is a COWARD. Finesse and Glamour are not enough to win championships. Kobe's offensive might is useless if the lakers can't defend on the other side. Is there anybody in the planet who is stupid enough to still defend Odom? This guy doesnt belong in the NBA. He is a pussy. It has been proven after 6 Finals games in 2008 and Jackson the Wacko still believes Odom is the man. After 5 Finals games this year, he is definitely the Celtics hero!!! Phil, in case you have forgotten, no rebounds, no championship. & while Kobe is confirmed as one of the greatest players that ever played the game, if your team can't defend on the other side, Lakers will still lose... & now that Bynum is playing hurt, perhaps common sense will tell you that a shallow bench won't give you a championship. Now before you respond by saying you won last year, hey man, you had Ariza to control the traffic. I say, Kobe, play like there's no tomorrow in the next game. You made about 20 passes today in the 1st half and your teammates just managed to convert 4x. Your teammates are U-N-R-E-L-I-A-B-L-E. Trade Gasoft for Amare, Bynum for Chris Bosh and Odom for Ariza. We will be champs again. Trade them!!!

"I also just heard Kobe, Dfish and Gasol had a seperate meeting.

Posted by: jac | June 13, 2010 at 11:10 PM"

Where'd you hear this?

Pau had his one bad game of the series...seriously doubt he'll be 12-12 again. It's Kobe and Pau and ??D-Fish, LO or another bench player for a Game 6 win, AND if Drew plays big minutes that equate to some blocks and more boards...gotta wonder what that knee will be like after this game....whatta shame....

LAKERLAND....TWO GAMES AT STAPLES FOR THE TITLE...BELIEVE!!!

Think about it, Laker fans, our team played horribly tonight, and Boston played fantastic (hustling all over the place) and still with 1:02 left in the game, we were only down 5 points ON THEIR HOME COURT. And had Artest hit that basket off Fisher's jump ball and hit the and one, we would only be down 2 freaking points with 39.6 left in the game -- and with Kobe hot as a firecracker, do you think we would have lost this game???

No way, not when you consider that Boston has lost the most games in the NBA in the 4th quarter. They were practically trying to give this game to us -- had Artest hit those free throws!!!

Boston played their "A" game, and we played our "F" game (with a hobbling Andrew Bynum) and we should have been down only 3 points (if Artest had hit his free-throws) with 39.6 seconds left in the game (or maybe even 2 points if Artest had slammed the ball home and hit the and one).

Now we're going home! The Lakers ALWAYS play better with their backs against the wall -- ALWAYS!!! Specially at home!!!!!!!!!

Lakers in 7!

If, If, If, If. Tell more about what woulda happened if this woulda happened then of course this woulda happened and it woulda meant that this woulda happened.

Well, to quote Charles Barkley on NBA TV after the game: "and if my aunt had onions she'd be my uncle."

Seriously, at this point I don't know how you can say the Lakers are the better team. They have played one good game. They have scored fewer points in each game as the series goes on, which is a testament to the superiority of the Celtic coaching staff and their ability to make defensive adjustments that our coaches cannot match. Moreover, our supposed advantage in the paint has been turned on its head, with the Celtics dominating the middle. Gasol is being shown to be every bit as soft as he was in 2008, Lamar is the invisible man, Artest plays offensively like Adam Morrison (without the shooting ability), and Derek had his Finals moment.

When you go up 2-1 and have a chance to put a stranglehold on the series but then go and get outhustled and beaten up for two straight games, you don't really get to say "we have them right where we want them" even if the next game is on your floor. You can forget about game 7 if EVERY Laker player doesn't play better in game 6....

If the Lakers lose this series -- and that is a HUGE "if," which I don't expect whatsoever -- the Lakers have to get another "consistent" scorer. I would package Odom and Walton for Bosh. I don't know if the salaries match, but that can be worked out as the Lakers need another consistent scorer.

Maybe even a Kyle Korver.

Had Phil Jackson nurtured Sasha properly (instead of falling in love with Shannon Brown's jumping prowess) then Sasha possibly could have been that player. He plays solid defense and can hit 3s consistently. What a shame. I can just see the Lakers cut Sasha loose and the guy reaches his potential wearing some other jersey.

Odom has been abjectly PATHETIC this series! I'm starting to HATE his game, and his weak mind. He has twice the amount of talent that Fisher has and 1/3 the heart.

Prove me wrong, Lamar.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, prove me wrong these next two games!!!

Ludwig, you are a big turd. The Lakers should have won this in 4 or 5 games. Now they have their backs against the wall. They could easily lose game 6 and this is over. Even if Lakers win game 6 (probable), then it's a one game winner take all and anything can happen. The celtics seem to want it more than lakers (besides kobe) i'm asahmed to even be a laker fan at this point. they totally suck and PJ has to take blame for this lack of preparation.

I like what Jojo said - trade these losers. Gasol has to go. LO has to go. Farmar, Sasha, Brown, Morrison, Walton, dang...how much crap can one team have? We need players who can show up for the playoffs.

It really looks like the ring means more to the fans than the team. Kobe is the only one that seems to care. The rest can take their million dollar salaries, expensive cars, big mansions and kiss my ass!!!

And seriously don't bring PJ back. He's an idiot. If he can't win with this loaded team he doesn't deserve to come back.

And seriously don't bring PJ back. He's an idiot. If he can't win with this loaded team he doesn't deserve to come back.

IF Fisher didn't go crazy in game 3 in the 4th quarter you guys would have lost in 5 games. Maybe you only lost by 6 points but anyone who was watching the game knew that the Lakers were totally dominated. Your shooting, was 33% in the first half. The Celtics were at 66%. The Celtics came to play and except for Kobe the Lakers stood around and got pushed around. They have played worse and worse each game and you know it. You have scored in the last 3 games: 86,89 and 91 points. You are being squeezed defensively. No more 120 point games like against Phoenix. The Celtics play better on the road than at home.

Get it yet? You Lakers are going to lose again to your hated enemy.

2-3-2.
We still have hca. No way we lose game 6. No way!

Welcome home, Lakers! Let's do this!

G I made that comment about 3 games back about the lack of emotion of the Lakers. It is Phil's zen aproach but it is hurting our team. Kobe internalises too much and should be the emotional leader on the floor. Even at home in the pregame introduction he walks out in a dead fashion. If the leader is emotionless the crowd will be as well. If I had Kobe's ability I would come out fired up and even egg the Cs fans on in Boston to fire up my team and get them believing. People say Fisher is the emotional leader but it will ring hollow if Fisher ask LO to play better when Fisher only scores 6 points. Kobe a great player is too isolated and lacks comraderie. That was evident when he sat out couple games due to an injury. Instead of sitting on the bench and cheer his teammates on he was in the locker room. I was disappointed with that by Kobe. Kobe is my boy but that was so profound to me for him not to be there for his boys. What do you think that does for chemistry? The Cs are together and Doc always preaches that. In game 2, I could be wrong but it seems tht Kobe made a concious effort to be the top scorer in that contest and cost us the game. Gasoft/Bynum were having monster games but Kobe started jacking up these terrible shots. Plus he decided to double Garnett who was having an off night to say the least and allowed Rondo to burn us.

Ludwig,

Shut the hell up. You are an embarrassment to all us Laker fans. Had Artest made the dunk then the made the free throw. What the hell is that supposed to mean? We got our asses handed to us. Dont give me any of this crap about if Artest woulda made the dunk and then the free throw. Go to bed. We dont need idiots like you representing us.

God,

I'm sorry, but you don't know shit about NBA basketball. It's a 2-3-2 format, for Chrissakes! What, did you expect the Lakers to take 2 out of 3 (or 3 out of 3) from the Celtics in Boston? The Lakers got the one they had to have -- this is the one weakness with the 2009 and 2010 Lakers, they only play their best with their backs against the wall.

The Lakers got game 3, and sadly, relaxed (mentally) and took their perverbial foot off the gas pedal, I'm sad to say.

And Boston did what they had to do, which is win game 5. If Boston loses game 5, it's almost guaranteed that the Lakers win this series. So, they held serve at home, and now it's the Lakers turn to win 2 games in L.A.

I didn't come up with the 2-3-2 format, but after 5 games, we are EXACTLY where we should be!

Going to laugh when the lakers choke this away. I've been saying it all season long. This laker team stinks and it starts with the coaching. Phil's system is out of date and not one can execute it properly. He can't motivate his players to bring it.

They played like heartless chumps the entire season and now it's biting them in the butt. There is no switch to turn on and they are mentally weak. They panic in crunch time and have no hustle.

They are an embarrassment to LA!!!!

131-92,
You're not fooling everyone here. Just know that.

mti312 It seems to me the chokers here are the Lakers.

JoeMoore,

You're an even bigger moron. Trade Gasol? That's your answer, loser? He had one bad game. The guy was the series MVP up to now, and now, with the series on track to be where it should be, you already want to trade Gasol, without waiting to see how the series actually ends.

You're THE turd, loser. Go and watch some soccer, you don't know shit about NBA basketball.

And guess what, genius, the Lakers WOULD HAVE proabably won this series in 5 games if Bynum had been 100% healthy!

Adversity provides a deeper opportunity to acheive Greatness.

Well, our opportunity just got deeper.

I'm leaving for home tomorrow.

As are the Lakers.

It'll be good to be home.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

I'm like troy - i really don't care anymore. Lakers obviously don't care. They don't hustle, they don't play hard, they don't show up. They gave up already. I do too and actually hope they lose already so we don't waste one more fricking day with them.

I feel bad that Kobe signed the extension. He should have gone to another team that is not so spoiled. A team that hasn't won a ring - team mates who will show up when it counts. It looks like these guys aren't even interested.

I agree Ludwig, it is SUPPOSED to be like this.

RELAX EVERYONE, stop embarassing us normal Laker fans please.

Alex --

You call yourself a "Lakers fan," loser? My only point was that the Celtics played their best game so far and we played like utter crap and it was still a two possession game with one minute left in the game, you mindless twit!

Am I wrong on that fact?

Celtics Gameplan for beating the Lakers

1.) Win one of the first two games in LA
2.) Win 2 of 3 in Boston
3.) Win one of the last 2 games in LA

Gee, seems like 1 and 2 have been accomplished. With Bynum scoring 6 points every 31 minutes, Gasoft going for 12 points and Artest and Odom not knowing what the ph_k is going on, I am sure you Lakers should be very confident!!

I say let's all unite so that the Lakers will have real men in the team. Let's all ask Buss to release everyone except for Kobe of course and get Amare, Bosh, Ariza, Deron Williams and a bunch of hungry, cheap but reliable role players to join Kobe. We will be champs again this time for 5 consecutive years...

Then earlier in the season Kobe wanted to overtake someone on the all time scoring list and it cost LA the game. Gasoft's comment was that he glad Kobe got the record and now they can hopefully concentrate on winning. If the Cs win and Rondo was named the MVP I don't think their ig 3 would mine. However, on LA Kobe wanted to make sure he was the MVP and not Gasoft who was having a big night in game 2 especially. That game 2 loss at home was huge because if we did win that we only needed 1 win in Boston. See Kobe is like Spider Man with the mantra that said who is giving much ability has great responsibility. Ludwig I was a Laker from 1982 and I love LA but we as fans are giving critical analysis and not some blind faith that since we comming home all will be fixed. Kobe played magnificent tonight but why? Because he realised what I saw was that he needs to attack from the top of the key and not from the corners allowing himself to get trapped. I am not saying all is lost but LA got work to do. Ithoughtgoing in that LA was going to wipe the floor with Boston due to the 2008 beat down but there is no fire from or side.

THIS GAME WAS OVER BEFORE IT STARTED...

i had a horrible feeling about this game from the start... i prepared myself for this loss about 2 days ago so maybe that explains why i'm so surprisingly calm right now... when vegas had celts favored and line moved down from -3 to -2 i knew then lakers were doomed.. it was another setup and vegas had everybody right where they wanted them...

after the lakers blew a golden opportunity last game there was NO WAY IN HELL STERN was gonna let boston lose this one... stern was gonna get his dream wish and now a game 7 is all but certain.

if lakers blow this series it will all go back to game 4 that is still eating me up inside... that pivotal 2nd half that lakers let get away may turn out to be the most costly and turning point in the series... one that i VOW TO NEVER FORGIVE phil jackson ever for... and i still cant get that image of that slobbering big baby out of my head.. i'm afraid that fatazz is gonna haunt me in my dreams forever

i dont think i can watch game 6 or 7... if i have any regards for my own health i will skip both games in its entirety and go hide out somewhere.

If you don't care anymore, good, go to sleep and don't waste your time. This is a blog for REAL Lakers fans, not for the faint of heart who quit when the going gets tough.

You're what my old man would call a quitter. And by definition, quitters are losers. Remember, a winner never quits, specially not on his or her Los Angeles Lakers, the team with the most wins in NBA history. All we need is TWO more wins, AT HOME!!!

Are you clowns KIDDING ME??????!

It's better this way, we don't need the ban-wagon crowd, and we specially don't need sissy fans along the way, so be a dear and stay home on Lakers Parade Day!!!

Look, guys/gals...the Celtics looked terrible towards the end of the season...I couldn't believe how badly they were playing in some of those games that they lost AT HOME, but they managed to resurrect their season.

The Lakers didn't end their season on a high note, they struggled in the lst round against a quicker, younger Thunder team, seemed to get their schtuff together to win that series in 6, blew through the Jazz in 4 and then had another gutcheck against the Suns, winning on their court (third consecutive series winner on the opponent's homecourt) in 6.

If you seriously thought the Lakers would blow through the Celtics, who dispatched the two teams with the best records in the East, you were kidding yourselves. Say what you will, this Celtics team is gutsy, gritty, plays scrappy and will scratch and claw you to death to get every loose ball and rebound and see what they can get away with in front of the refs.

Doesn't mean the Celtics are not beatable and can't lose two straight at Staples...the Lakers have HCA for a reason....

I've been a Laker fan for as long as most of the posters here have been alive, and if you are a TRUE Laker fan, you NEVER give up on your team....

LAKERS!!!

Remember that before game 5 some of us were hoping that Phil would play DJ Mbenga a few minutes to back up Bynum? I couldn't believe when I saw Adam Morrison in uniform for the first time this series and Mbenga was in street clothes.

What is Phil Jackson thinking? Big fat walrus baby torched Lamar in game 4, and he dresses Morrison? What the hell? If there ever was a time to think about playing Mbenga it was for game 5, and he's not even in uniform!!!

PJ, I hope you know what you're doing, but after how you've nurtured Sasha, I'm not sure. And what happened to Shannon Brown?

But what I noticed is that Cs doen't respect us and said plenty things that should be bulletin board material. However, it didn't matter to the lakers. I kept on looking for an angry LO from the series started but to no avail. His only comments have been that it is fun. I know Kobe misses Snack now. I accepted tonight's loss better than game 4 because the Cs led the whole game and shot over 60%. The game never was in doubt. Artest is a mixed bag so far. He played great defense in the firs 3 games and now Pierce is killing us and he can't hit a layup or convert free throws.

A two-possession game with 1:02 seconds left on the clock is a winnable game.

Posted by God
When you go up 2-1 and have a chance to put a stranglehold on the series but then go and get outhustled and beaten up for two straight games, you don't really get to say "we have them right where we want them" even if the next game is on your floor. You can forget about game 7 if EVERY Laker player doesn't play better in game 6....
......................................................................................
What I notice the most in this series is the Celtics put in a new wrinkle in their offense or defense each game which the Lakers can't adjust to it in-game.
On the other hand the Lakers don't seem do anything different in game strategy, and if they do, it doesn't work or the Celtics adjust to it.

We miss Rambis on the sidelines and his work as defensive coach...and remember that the Celts have the soon-to-be-leaving Thibodeau...who has been the key to their defense.

Don't count out the Zenmaster...he drives me crazy at times and can't say he's my favorite Laker coach (that's Riles), but I cannot believe that he will let the Celts win two on the Lakers homecourt en route to another title...if that happens, he's not coming back to coach them again. You would think he'd want his team to win another B2B, then he can write himself another contract.

Island Priest,
You are obviously an anti-kobe. Are you familiar with the Lakers strat? In the 1st half, the ploy is to involve everyone. Kobe must have passed the ball 20 times in the period and the team was able to convert JUST 4 times. What was that telling you? The supporting cast are just unreliable. Isn't it a fact that Buss is paying Kobe for his offensive skills and not for his passing skills? wake up brotha! Kobe can't be a magic johnson. And if you will compare him with MJ, man you must first compare the rest of the supporting cast. When MJ makes kickout passes, his wingman almost always delivers. Best of all, he had Pippen. We had Ariza and Phil released him!!! Have you ever played basketball? Have you ever managed and/or coached a team in your city or town? I have and we were champs 2 out of 2! It is about getting the right people so that your objective is met. Kobe is Kobe. He must shoot!!! The problems of the team are Gasol is too soft and can't defend, Odom is a coward and also can't defend. Bynum is playing hurt and we have no other center to rely on, Fish and the rest of the team are just unreliable. Do you really understand the game???

After Lamar Odom's thrashing by fat baby in game 4, can someone please tell me why Adam Morrison was in uniform and DJ Mbenga in street clothes for game 5???

JoJo saying that the Priest is anti Kobe. I stuck with Kobe through thick and thin when most of you guys were siding with Snack. But the Priest disciplines his kid in what it is called tough love. I read yall post and eiter some people are critical and others have blind faith but I am the few persons who give suggestions that can work for Kobe/LA. I am very good amateur ball player. With all of your experiene I never seen you suggest that Kobe should play from the top instead of the corners allowng him to be trapped like in 2004 when Prince basically shut him down. The following year Miami d Wade attack from the top. Also I am the only one who is seeing that Gasoft is living on the perimeter and not ettig in the post. How can our center/pf be shooting jumpers and LA is suposed to be sucessful? Plus only Farmar seems to be makin a concius to attack the rim another of my suggestions. So JoJo with your experince give us some insiht or homecurt will solve all.

Kevin Tully writes, "IF Fisher didn't go crazy in game 3 in the 4th quarter you guys would have lost in 5 games."

Guess what, royal nitwit, if Ray Allen doesn't set a world record in game 2, then it would be 3-2 Lakers going back to L.A., with the last two at Staples Center, series over.

Two can play that bullshit game, moron.

Ludwig,
If you have a team like ours, you might end up doing the same. it shows desperation to come up with a lucky charm. Unfortunately, morrison wasn't. Phil was desperate because he saw that except for Kobe, the rest of the team have no heart to win while trailing on foreign grounds. That was the point all along why I said we have the wrong guys... There are no more pep-talks, vitamins or even special trainings that can transform Gasol or Odom to play like men. They are too old to be transformed. They are soft and cowards. The NBA's brand of basketball is too physical for them. And these 2 belong in the WNBA... as 2nd stringers.

When Lakers won the first game, I didn't see any of you saying "I can't wait to be on the wrong end of an elimination game in game 6". Optimism is nice, but this is NOT where you guys wanted to be, most of you had predicted that the series would be over by now.

JoJo you are just giving adjectives Gasol is soft and Odom is a coward ad Bynum is hurt and Fisher is unreliable. For a championship coach is thats all you got? That is no insight. It is obvious I understand the game better than you and would own you if I had to coach against you. For the record I was a Laker from 1982 on. Plus I was a Laker when Nic Van Excel, Eddie Jones and Cedric Ceballos were the main guys. Kobe is one of the best to ever lace them up but not infallible. I think he does little to build up his team's confidence and as a result his team is depedent on him to save the day.

Anyone who is blaming Kobe are just embeciles.
Is anyone on this Laker team showing even the remotest quality of "rising to the occasion"?
As Kobe said in his post game interview, "offense comes and goes" but the defensive effort of this team is woeful. Granted the Lakers aren't scoring in the 100's but they should be holding this team in the 80's easily.
Again as Kobe said, it was layup after layup after layup after layup.
90% of defense is effort, if the Lakers effort doesn't change at home, they don't deserve to the championship, and they deserve our disdain for them.

THE LAKERS DESERVE OUR CONTEMPT BECAUSE THEY DISHONOR US WITH THEIR EFFORT.

Ludwig, I believe he said something before about Mbenga being out too long to be able to step in and be effective. We all knew Morrison wasn't coming into the game either though so I'm not really sure. Early stages of Alzheimer's maybe?

THE LAKERS DESERVE OUR CONTEMPT BECAUSE THEY DISHONOR US WITH THEIR EFFORT.

But the blame goes around. This game it was the entire team besides kobe. In game 2 it was Kobe Bryant. He started taking difficult shots and it was his decision to double Garnett allowing Rondo 2 uncontested layups and couple jumpshots in the 4th. In game 4 Kobe had 33 points but 7 turnovers. gasoft had 21 points and 4 turnovers. How could LA win with our 2 main guys cotting 11/15 turnovers?

JoeMoore and Alex --

Here's my point, summarized by Mike Bresnahan, "The Lakers shot only 39.7% and were drilled in points in the paint, 46-32, but they had their chances in the fourth quarter, pulling within 87-82 on three free throws by Bryant with 1:30 left."

As bad as the Lakers played, and as solid a game as the Celtics played in a must-win game for them, the Lakers still "had their chances" on Boston's home court -- EVEN WITH THE LAKERS PLAYING LIKE SHIT!

Got it, shmucks?

Good.

Hey Island Priest
And exactly how far did any of your teams get in the playoffs?
Guess you needed someone to ride your arse because it takes a hell of a lot to win a championship and Kobe has 4 rings so I guess he's somewhat of an expert.
When this team is lacking mental focus someone needs to snap them out of it.
You think Phil will? No, he'll give em a book to read.

Island Priest,
Physical is physical. If you can't hack it like a real man, howelse can you get inside? If you will also notice, most of the time, when Kobe has the ball, the guys were doing nothing. They were not moving at all. No cutters, no jostling under the ream, and when kobe decides to play decoy, the wingman can't convert. And you were wrong when you insinuated that I'm still young. Been watching the NBA since the 70s. Kobe must shoot especially when nobody seems to be moving & in a good position to shoot. Besides, have you checked how many times they missed after getting the pass from Kobe? You only see the lousy misses of Kobe. Have you ever wondered why he had to shoot? Those are the instances when I would recommend that you watch the games with open eyes. When your players stop moving, they are having cold sweats and have started to show signs of losing heart to win. If you are the Lakers owner, will it be your fair assessment that if you will release someone between gasol and kobe, it will be kobe who should go? Assess how the team was transformed over the years. Was it built around gasol? In my earlier entries days back, I said it was a recruitment problem. Sure we won last year. But that was because we had Ariza, and Bynum was healthy. With those 2 conditions, Gasol and Odom can do their thing. Now that Ariza is gone and Gasol and Odom just signed huge new contracts, would you say that Gasol played his contract fairly with just 9 points? Back in the days of Kobe and Shaq, they can create opportunities on their own. Not everything rests on the coach's shoulders. So whether you can accept it or not, Gasol did not do his job and did justice to his huge contract. Even the Bible will tell you that you get what you deserve. But are we getting our money's worth with Gasol's performance? I know we are getting more than what we bargained for in Kobe's playoff performance...

Also Island Priest

you claim you were a Laker from 1982 on and were on the team when Nic Van Excel, Eddie Jones and Cedric Ceballos were the main guys.

The earliest those 3 were on the team was 1994/95
So let me get this straight you were a Laker for at 13 straight years during this time frame.
Since there is no player who played continuously for the Lakers during this time period there are only 2 possible answers
you were a waterboy or something similar employed by the team and had a player yell at you which messed with your head

OR YOU ARE KURT RAMBIS WHO WAS THERE IN 82 LEFT AND CAME BACK IN 93 AND RELEASED IN 95

LADYS AND GENTLEMEN I GIVE YOU KURT RAMBIS

you just lost all credibility Kurt, glad you're in BFE now.

Joe Moore, Island Priest, Ludwig,
Been great exchanging pleasantries with you. Have to go. Let's all hope that a miracle would happen and the Lakers will win. And after the series, there will be changes in the team. We can't be stressed this way everytime there is a playoff. I say bring back showtime!!! Thank you guys...

Dear Jojo Zaide writes,

"Let's all hope that a miracle would happen and the Lakers will win."

That's my whole point, Jojo, the Lakers don't need a "miracle" to win. They just need to get back to what helped them win games 1 & 3. By your definition, 2 "miracles" have already happened.

So why not 2 more???

Jojo Zaide - you GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ouchhhhh, you are a certified moron!!! hahahaha. Adios...

Lakers need to find someone in the offseason who's a 'banger' who gets to the rim, bodies up his opponent and makes it difficult for them to score. There isn't anyone on this team like that. In his day, it was Rambis, who didn't back down from anyone...not a lot of offensive talent, but all heart and came to play.

Sorry, I just have to respond to Lakerlady's comments...
Kurt Rambis wasn't exctly someone who gave the Lakers a championship. He played for the Lakers and did his share but I don't think he should represent the type of player that we are looking for. Let's just look at the bottomline - Championship. We all want the Lakers to win. And in order to do that, we must have the right players. So with all due respect, let me suggest that we collectively ask Buss to trade Gasol, Bynum and Odom for Amare, Bosh and Ariza then get guys who are cheap but reliable. If we can still afford Deron, by all means let's get him. We want to win and that's the bottomline.

Jojo --

Amare is a pathetic has been who can't rebound worth shit. I wouldn't take him over any of our big men, not even Lamar.

Trade Gasol AND Bynum?

Jesus, lay off the sauce.

Lakerlady,
As I said, we must collectively ask Buss to trade Gasol, Odom and Bynum for Ariza, Amare and Bosh. If there's still room for Deron, by all means. Then get cheap but reliable role players. With kobe at the core of the team, we will be champs for a long time. Bottomline is we want to win.

JoeMoore and Alex --

To further make my point, read the following: "We could have won tonight before I missed those two free throws and didn't give a chance to let Kobe do what he do," said Artest, who only hit one of four free throw attempts in the fourth quarter. "That was a backbreaker."
