Derek Fisher's emotional night resonates with the team

In the immediate aftermath of his clutch performance in the Lakers' 91-84 Game 3 NBA Finals win over the Boston Celtics, the normally calm Derek Fisher couldn't help but reveal the emotions swirling in his mind. See the postgame video, below.

It's been a season filled with criticism about his shooting numbers. Fisher ended the regular season averaging 7.5 points per game on a 38% mark from the field, the lowest output since his 2003-04 season. It's been a season filled with doubt about his defense. Though he displayed a valiant effort, Fisher largely struggled in  defending quick, young point guards, even prompting Kobe Bryant to defend Russell Westbrook in the Lakers' first-round match-up against Oklahoma City. And it's been a season filled with conjecturing about his age. Fisher is 35 and must have wondered himself, as he has gone through his 14th regular season, whether the Lakers value his experience and abilities as a clutch player enough to re-sign him once he becomes a free agent this off-season.

But on a night when he helped limit Boston forward Ray Allen to a zero-of-13 clip, scored 11 fourth-quarter points and made a coast-to-coast layup that would further add to his legacy, Fisher couldn't help but share how much the game meant to him.

Fisher would later say "the emotion was just from being a part of such a big night and being so instrumental in helping our team win this game." And the team still felt the effects of Fisher's contribution from Game 3.

Lakers center Andrew Bynum said the win and Fisher’s performance had brought the team even closer together, despite its having come after allowing a 17-point lead against the Celtics to dwindle because of stagnant offense.

Lakers forward Lamar Odom had a hug for Fisher right after the game. "I learn so much from him," he said. "When he speaks and when he doesn't speak and the way he carries himself. He's a man."

And Lakers guard Kobe Bryant remarked that Fisher was the only teammate he truly listened to, adding that he admired the "toughness" Fisher brought everyday to the court.

"It's not unusual for players that have played together for a long duration of time and come through a variety of situations in the course of their careers” to develop a close relationship, Lakers Coach Phil Jackson opined, "especially when you have winning and positive results."

Ron Artest said he admired Fisher's willingness to play a complementary role to benefit the team and that it had prompted him to follow suit. "Fisher and Kobe are taking me on a ride and they're taking me to school," he said. "They give me a lesson every day."

For the team, Fisher's positive reinforcement contrasts with Bryant's fiery personality and demanding expectations -- Fisher said Bryant had likened the duo's contrast to that of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

But on a night where his coast-to-coast layup brought back reflections of his other clutch efforts, Fisher refused to bask in them.  He doesn't even like to think of his game-winning shot with 0.4 of a second left against San Antonio in the 2004 West Semifinals.

"Only winning it will cement that and solidify" his clutch play as one of those that he'll want to remember, Fisher said. " '04 I don't really think about a lot until other people ask me about it because it's connected to losing a championship. So I kind of put that away."

Gentlemen,

As we stand here on this battlefield in hostile territory, tired... weary... injured... preparing to do battle once again, I ask that you do one thing...

And that is Remember.

Remember what it is we are fighting for.

Remember the long and oft times difficult voyage that we have taken to make it this far.

Remember the battles that we have won and lost.

Remember the joy and the pain that we have endured along the way.

Remember that this is a foe that had bested not so long ago, who has caused us humiliation.

Remember that we are now stronger, more intelligent, more courageous, more determined.

Remember that you are warriors battle tested and hardened.

Remember that you cannot and will not be stopped.

Remember that you are NOW AND ALWAYS WILL BE CHAMPIONS!!!!

Now go forth and give them something to REMEMBER!!!

Additional info on the refs:

The Lakers have won all playoff games that Foster (4 playoff games) and Willard (4 playoff games) referee'd.

Our only encounter with Rush in the post-season was that infamous game 3 against PHX (remember that - 22 FT's differential against LAL).

Call me corny, but I love this team. I love the way the chemistry has developed over the past three years, I love how they seem to pull for each other, and I love their commitment to each other.

The 80s team was special to me in its own way, but there is really something great about this group -- maybe it's the redemption theme for so many players.

I'm in shock that n one has made the comparison between McHale takedown of Rambis and Fisher's layup. Difference is Fisher made the layup, and we're winning this series! Rambis' Revenge Baby!

Rambis:

Ooops, sorry, did not realize this was already covered in the previous thread by lewstrs.

Before our eyes, we get to see who becomes of a man in Fisher, and who becomes a man in Bynum.

This is both historic and special.

Behold!

--FEARless

Ron Artest said he admired Fisher's willingness to play a complementary role to benefit the team and that it had prompted him to follow suit. "Fisher and Kobe are taking me on a ride and they're taking me to school," he said. "They give me a lesson every day."

LOVE the comment from Ron...

LOVEY-DOVEY

Fish's layup will be remembered as the turning point in the series. It began with on the sideline when he reminded everyone, "if I told you we'd be up at this point in the 4th quarter at the beginning of the game, how would you feel?"

Also the moment another future head coach stepped into prime time.

Has anyone else noticed that if the Lakers pull this off, Kobe would have been the center piece of two Redeem Teams?

Its like, "if you need revenge, you better call Kobe!"

--FEARless

@DWNTWN ATTY
Win one for Rambis thanks Attorney, Don’t let them get away with that thuggery
Even though Dfish made that great layup, Someone needs tto kick a Celtic in the Cup
A wise man said to get rid of a Bully fast, knock him stone cold on his @zzz
I’m not advocating violence yawl, But if you turn the other cheek you’ll have another sore Jaw.
Time to end The Bullies violent reign, So once again the NBA will be safe and sane

IF YOU NOTICE COMMENTS FROM DFISH'S TEAMMATES...has nothing to do with Dfish as a payer but more to do with all the intangibles that he brings..

So many of you including Kbltiz, Ouuccch, Yellofever who have failed to recognize Dfish's merits should try to think out of the box instead of relying on stats.

Good morning Mamba24 & the fabulous Laker morning CRUE!!!

GAME DAY BABY - YYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Mamba24? A correction is urgently needed. You said "KOBE: YOU HAVE BLED WITH TMAC AND YAO, “NOW BLEED ME!!"

Does that make RonRon a vampire?? A leach?? A doctor from 1849??? It should be bleed WITH me... ROFLMAO!!!

Ok Lakers - time to man up. To me, this game is very close to a 'must win'. Being up 3-1 is so very much better than having a tied series with the next game still in Beantown. I'm quite sure Tha Show feels the same way. I fully expect another Septic energy flourish to start the game, but our guys should withstand & prevail.

The only thing I want - besides the W of course - it that no one gets hurt and the refs let the men play. That's it.

That being said - I want the Lakers to KILL THE SEPTICS. That scum needs to be destroyed for another couple of decades. Bunch of thug punks. And whoever said they'd want Fat Baby in the royal Purple & Gold needs to have their head examined. NO PUNKS ALLOWED. Stupid tub of lard. What's with the faces, the tongue hanging out, spitting at the crowd?? Seriously?? You want a low-class fool like that on OUR team??? Come on - get a grip. Drink some vodka or something.

TIME TO FOCUS. TIME TO MIND-MELD WITH THE MAMBA. LET"S GO OUT THERE AND TAKE WHAT"S OURS!!!

GO LAKERS!!! WE GOT THIS!!!

Nothing but another title will suffice - Kobe Bryant

i like odom's comments. it's almost like he felt like crying too.

@FEARLESS
NEED REVENGE CALL KOBE!
If Revenge it must be, Need Revenge then call Kobe
Don't go to one who is 2nd Rate, Go to one who is alltime great
Don't let your Revenge drag on and on, Go to Kobe he'll get the job done.
What makes me say such a thing. Look at his hand it's full of Rings.
Each ring represents a job well done, If you need Revenge to Kobe you should Run!

Mamba24? A correction is urgently needed. You said "KOBE: YOU HAVE BLED WITH TMAC AND YAO, “NOW BLEED ME!!"

And just what Fing business is it of your's sir. But if you would like to know - not that it is any of your damn business, I consider 131 a friend who helped me out of a tough situation when he did not have too. Any thing else you would like to know about my life or don't you have one of your own?

Did anyone take notice of what almost happened in game 3? Death Ray Allen almost followed the greatest offensive game in NBA Final history with the worst. The record for futility in a Final's game is 0-14. He just missed it by that much.

Too bad he barely missed a unique place in history.

Oh well...

REPOST: Again with apologies to the family of Sir Winston Churchill

Here are the famous words of Sir Winston Churchill in WW II (with my apologies in quoting them in June, 2010)

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Boston, we shall fight on the blog and media, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the locker room, we shall defend our beloved City of LA, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on tweets, we shall fight on the cell, we shall fight in the blogs and in the streets of Boston, we shall fight at TD Garden; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, the 1969 meltdown or a large part of 2008 defeats were subjugated and starving, then our colors, Purple & Gold beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the Zen Master and Mamba would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.

~~Lets put all old leprechauns to oblivion. As special request from Art - FL Laker Fan include the young ones and those who lived in LA.

Come to think of it, maybe a head coaching job for Fish isn't the best use of his talent for selfless leadership.

Mayor D Fish sounds good.

REPOST FOR 131 AND HIS COHORTS...
~
~
CHARACTER COUNTS !!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let me begin by saying that I am not a fan of the win-at-all-cost mentality that rules sports today. I’ve always believed that there is a right way and a wrong way to play the game. The coaches whom I most respect are John Wooden, Dean Smith, Mike Krzyzewski, Greg Popovich, and Phil Jackson, teachers who believed in and strove to teach their players how to play the game of basketball the right way.
~
That’s why I hate teams like the Celtics, whose basketball philosophy from the days of Red Auerbach through the current Danny Ainge regime is predicated on bullying, cheating, and bending the rules of the game whenever possible. Tom Thibodeau’s Celtics defense is based on statistical analyses of how and where to foul without getting caught just as the offense is based on illegal screens and flopping.
~
Other than being born in or raised in New England, how could any basketball fan conscientiously choose to become a Celtics fan? There is something perverse and even a little evil about willingly embracing a franchise for whom fandom requires the equivalent of an ethical lobotomy and total abandonment of the basic principles that constitute fair play, honesty, and good sportsmanship?
~
A friend of mine recently told me that Celtics fans are masters of cognitive dissonance, much like parents of ugly and bad children who blindly believe that their offspring are handsome and good. How else do you explain why anybody would want to become a fan of a franchise that takes pride in winning by hook or crook and even incorporates the concept in the team logo and legacy.
~
Just compare the comments of the Lakers coaches and players with those of the Celtics and you see the difference immediately. Even down 2-1, the Celtics are still the smack talkers who refuse to give the Lakers any credit for their play and ironically are now accusing the Lakers of being too physical and the refs of not calling the games fairly. Like I said after Game 1, this series is really over.
~
Drew said it best when he said the Celtics stole a ring from us two years ago and were now going to pay them back. Phil Jackson and the Lakers franchise know that character counts. This Lakers team exudes character from MVP Kobe Bryant and future Lakers head coach Derek Fisher to young Jedi Warrior Andrew Bynum, fast becoming one of the most likeable and intelligent players in the NBA.
TOM
@Cosign Justanothermamba... What was with that? Baby licking his lips and spitting all over himself and the crowd after a layup? He wouldnt stop either, just kept expectorating all over the damn place-wierdo.
Another huge game tonite, I think they NEED this one almost as bad as the Septics. They are too dangerous to let them back into this thing. Additionally we saw how the rest between games 1 and 2 benefited them and we dont wanna go into game 5 (after 2 days rest) knotted up at 2 a piece. HEEEERE WE GO LAKESHOW! HERE WE GO!!
I am reading the LA Times sub headline on Column One, it says: "If you think it, they will win." It refers to McCourts in hiring a Russian scientist and healer. Perhaps, he is also hired him trans meditation in trying to win the divorce case.
Think about the positive energy we get from Mamba24 - If you think it, they will win. he is no turn coat, he is no lovey dovey, he has been here inspiring all of us from Day One, he is our gentleman among the gentlemen in blog. He is the soul of this blog, our Chicagoan scientist of positive energy
BELIEVE IN MAMBA24, and you will all go places. Go Lakers
mamba24:
no disrespect was only checking on the rumor mill 'lovey-dovey" and figured i should go to the source for correct information. I understand none of my beezwax and heck if two guys are lovey-dovey then its cool too..
Imagine it... Celtics, after losing in these finals, try to keep this core of nasty old dinosaurs together for another run... Doubt, not revenge eating at them all summer..
Also, there's something really beautiful about how deep the Lakers are having to go into themselves to respond to what this war requires... and they are finding what they need.. from a variety of expected and unexpected sources..
Hey lakerTom:
Drew said it best when he said the Celtics stole a ring from us two years ago and were now going to pay them back.
Yeah I caught that too and I like that fact Drew making that statement!!
Yeah Edwin, like straight to hell! Lol! Just playing with you sir, thanks for having my back but no need.
I know I am a paranoid Lakers fan, but I lived through all the jinxes our team has suffered over the year by the hands of the Celtics. Therefore, my plea to our team is to end this series quickly before Bynum's knee gets worse or Kobe and Gasol run out of gas at the end of games or who knows what. Forget about winning it at home. Let's get it done on the road.
Even though it is not technically a sweep, let's get the brooms ready for a 3 game sweep in beantown!
STOP THE HATE JUST MAKE ALL LEPRECHAUNS BELIEVE
That the Lakers will win tonight. Convert them, cajole them and invite them to come to the Laker side. It is not too late for a special seats for turn coat leprechauns. They are our Laker fan leprechauns.
Mamba24 - NOOOOOOOOO - don't talk about the lucky stool!!!! I finally get some sense of normalcy back and you go and bring that back up???? HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Just say NO TO LUCKY STOOL. You'll be glad you did.
Edwin - I've been here lol! Just busy at work so little time to post, plus my laptop at home broke down (broke down real good) so.... BUT - it's GAME DAY BABY and I'm gonna be locked & loaded & ready to go tonight!! I'm gonna have my sofa on, the vodka handy, the defibrillator on standby, and the purple & gold garb rockin!!
OH YEAH BEANTOWN FOOLS - where's your wheelchairs???
Did you guys here the Laker fan after the game Tuesday being interviewed outside? He said he was attacked in the restroom after the game by the Boston fans. And his wife said it was the first time that she was seriously afraid just because she was wearing her colors in another team's venue. WOW - at least no one will EVER mistake boston's "fans" for being classy.
MM - there are a LOT of instances of trolls using our handles still. Maybe you can find time to read through some comments & do a little banning while you're trying not to get mugged?
GO LAKERS!!! WE GOT THIS!!!!
Response: Talk about Red Auerbach's legacy that speaks volume on how to thug one's way to winning titles over winning it with grace and poise (lakers), the two opposites.
repost for NANDA:
I know this was posted before, but Paul Pierce tweeted last year (http://tinyurl.com/twheelchair) about Lakers being the german sheperd and his team as a rottweiler. Now I see him eye to eye on this, since a german sheperd is a smarter dog than a rottweiler. Good call, Paula!
Posted by: GameFaceON
The way I see it is Boston got a few rottweilers, an old greyhound and an annoying little chihuahua, we got a rottweiler of our own now, a magnificent crossbreed dobermamba, a pitbull, a great dane and a very skillful dammatian. We got them!!!
Doesn't it seem that Fisher ALWAYS makes the plays that could be the "turning points" in series in which the Lakers go on to win? Or he's giving the right motivational speech in the huddle or halftime that also gets the team moving in the right direction? Future Head Coach??? Yeah, I can definitely see that.
He may not be a "Superstar" like Kobe, Wade or LBJ (to name a few), and his Career Stats as a player may not get him into the Hall of Fame, but I bet, if he decided to go the coaching route he would have a VERY SUCCESSFUL career.
As far as the Hall of Fame goes, he ABSOLUTELY belongs in the Honorable Mentions Wing.
And NO MATTER WHAT Fisher's Name and Legacy is already cemented into the Hearts of all TRUE LAKER FANS just like the names of Scott, Rambis, Cooper and Worthy (to name a few... )
Yeah Edwin, like straight to hell! - Mamba24
~~Nope, Audie Murphy said, TO HELL AND BACK.
We will be behind you and stay united. We call all bloggers gone for good to come back and fight for Mamba24. You don't need it but you are our flag ship. We will defend our fort to the end on anyone attacking Mamba24. Anybody who is against Mamba24 is also against US.
STOP THE HATE LAKER FANS, STOP THE ANALYSIS -PARALYSIS, COME AS ONE FAN TODAY - win in small letters and WIN IN BIG LETTERS.
From Thorbin Firebold's Adventuring Notebook
On Trolls
Generally, Trolls live under bridges and prey upon goats (see entry under Paul Pierce). Sometimes they riddle, but mostly they just complain about how hungry they are.
Trolls like to get up in your business, so make sure you bring a stout sword and have a little jerky (see entry under Sheeeeeeeeed) to appease the pesky Troll.
Unfortunately, killing Trolls is difficult as they have incredible regenerative powers (see entry under BUTLER) so bring a torch if you want to combat the Troll and win, fire cancels out there powers of regeneration (for more info about things 'On Fire' check out the entry for Derek Fisher).
Trolls also have a knack for showing up when least wanted (in this case the NBA Finals, where y'all at during pre-season and we all need someone to talk to) and to make themsleves overly comfortable in an uncomfortable way. Not to worry, as soon as that which holds the trolls fascination is gone (in this case some crap-tastic team from bean town), the Troll will, generally, move on to 'greener' pastures.
Nuff said.
Yeah, what he said!
Far Side: you went in on Edwin Gueco, and now you get on mamba24's bad side? You seriously need to reconsider your approach.
We disagreed vociferously on Kobe for a few years (until, at a turning point, I changed my stance). But he's always been respectful and set the tone for this blog.
Your alpha dog approach only works when you're actually the alpha dog.
Game Day
This is getting good, people, tough doesn't even begin to describe how this team is playing right now. even when guys are down statistically, they find ways to contribute.
No recipes for success from me today, I'm getting the feeling that the blue prints got blown out the window and both teams are rocking serious game-to-game strategy.
Gotta love Doc Rivers and his officating rant. When the replays show absolutely no contact on a foul that (Rondo on Fisher) was called and we have a replay showing an absolute foul that wasn't called (Rondo on Odom), it's better to cut your losses. Not Doc, he wants to point out Fisher's "charge". Uhm, Doc, did you notice Rondo slappping Fish's arm into his side resulting in his careening wildly into Big Baby? Those green tinted glasses maybe need a bit of cleaning? Obviously, your not a Doc of the eyes.
GO LAKERS!!!!!!!
As for the game:
Boston will deliver its best shot. Its back is against the wall. I see each of the Big Four being productive. The crowd will be behind them. They will have a couple of flourishes in the game.
LA's response will decide the game. It's becoming more and more apparent that the way LA plays is more important than what the C's can do.
Fish's effort seems to have really energized and brought the team closer. Like they want to win one for the old man.
Reminds me of the team after his big shots against Magic last year.
Hopefully, this motivates them to finish the job ASAP.
SOME of the LAKERS FANS ARE SO LOVEY-DOVEY AND IT IS TO REFRESHING TO SEE IT..
JUSTA!-
I agree BBQ troll is quite tasty. Even though Larry is against this, I'm also adding BBQ leprechaun to the menu. I've been wanting to try something different. Plus what is a leprechaun anyways, just a little tiny troll.
Though I'm not a believer, I'm glad to see we have our Biblical figures are in the house. Couldn't hurt.
Justa good tip about imposters. There is def some weird stuff afoot, someone has been using my security parentheses and I don't like it.
"Nothing means more to me than helping my team win."
THAT is Derek Fisher.
For all you people who have been hating on Derek Fisher for a year, it's time to recognize that you've been hating passionately on a person who by all reasonable standards has a higher level of character than you.
What does that say about you?
What do we play for? RINGS!!!
Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.
GO LAKERS!!!!
Aint nobody getting Lovey-Dove with me
Biblical figures?
I feel so.... profiled.
FAR SIDE... Thanks for the great comments and support. What Celtics fans still do not get is that there are more important reasons to dislike and even hate the Celtics beyond that abuse that they gave Jerry and Elgin during the prehistoric Russell and Havelicek days – which is the disrespect they show their opponents and the great game of basketball. That is why the Celtics were sentenced to 20 years of failure and obscurity.
~
Now given another shot at greatness, the Celtics elected to continue their win-at-any-cost attitude by putting together the NBA’s first genuine “fantasy” team. Due to their continued crassness and classlessness, however, the basketball gods are on the verge of sentencing them to another 20 years of futility and irrelevancy. You have to wonder when the greenies like 131 and Red’s Bastard will jump their little rat’s asses off the ship.
Here's how Derek's "intangibles" are going to help us win a Championship...
Derek's speech reaches out to the motivations and desires of individual players in different ways, thereby increasing the unity and synergy of the team, thereby leading the team to play more cohesively tonight, thereby leading us to win.
That's how that works.
What do we play for? RINGS!!!
Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.
GO LAKERS!!!!
Basketball being a huge business with millions and millions of dollars spent on advertising, etc. the Lakers will win tonite but allow Boston to win the fifth game wheras the lakers will win in Los Angeles in six making everyone happy but also clearly showing that pro sports as far as basketball is not what it appears but a business to make money. Lakers could sweep Boston if it wanted, but again, money talks.
LOL ... We gonna take care of everything tonite
GUYS - there are idiot trolls on here using other people's handles.
So - if you read something that doesn't sound quite right, chances are it isn't.
Don't let the fools ruin our joy and anticipation. We are destined for greatness!!
JUSTA BELIEVE WE GOT THIS!!!!
Im not an Idiot. This is me.
How do we know this is you. You might not be you.
Noah,
At least you haven't been accused of hugging the enemy.
If we win again this year, it will back-to-back memorable Fisher moments in the Finals. No one should ever criticize Fisher ever again. As Kobe said, he is "the heart and soul" of the Lakers. 'Nuff said.
NOAH... “Imagine it... Celtics, after losing in these finals, try to keep this core of nasty old dinosaurs together for another run... Doubt, not revenge eating at them all summer..” ROFLMAO, Noah. That was sweet. It’s going to be a long “dry” summer for Celticholics, especially since the Red Sox are going down AGAIN. What is the score of Yankees championships versus Bosox? Does 27-2 ring any bells, Celtics trolls. It’s the bottom of the ninth and the Celtics suddenly realize that that steamroller in their rear view mirror is getting bigger and bigger and their slim 17-15 lead is going to disappear as fast as the last honest sports fan in New England.
Great job by D-Fish in game 3. I've always believed Fish has been under-rated, and I love how he steps up at a critical time and jams the ball down our opponents' throat! A true Hall of Fame candidate in Laker's History! Too bad the League will never give him his due...
We haven't had a great break-through game in this series by Odom or Artest -- overdue, I believe. One of them is going to step and give the Craptics hell tonight!
Killer job on the blog MAMBA24.
Noah,
At least you haven't been accused of hugging the enemy.
Sorry,
Im just jealous
justa,
you wrote: Ok Lakers - time to man up. To me, this game is very close to a 'must win'. Being up 3-1 is so very much better than having a tied series with the next game still in Beantown. I'm quite sure Tha Show feels the same way. I fully expect another Septic energy flourish to start the game, but our guys should withstand & prevail.
The only thing I want - besides the W of course - it that no one gets hurt and the refs let the men play. That's it.
That being said - I want the Lakers to KILL THE SEPTICS. That scum needs to be destroyed for another couple of decades. Bunch of thug punks. And whoever said they'd want Fat Baby in the royal Purple & Gold needs to have their head examined. NO PUNKS ALLOWED. Stupid tub of lard. What's with the faces, the tongue hanging out, spitting at the crowd?? Seriously?? You want a low-class fool like that on OUR team??? Come on - get a grip. Drink some vodka or something.
my response: Don't mince words dear. Say what you *REALLY* mean!
*chuckle*
131 - it's me. For realzz. BUT I gotta say that when I was talking about "stupid trolls" I wasn't really including you, but hey - if you're feeling left out.... :)
hobbit - my dear, dear (BAD) hobbit.... Make sure you make a cameo on the chat tonight, ok?
Mamba24
you Sir are outstanding!! I love reading your posts along with the other blog regulars, it helps me channel all my nervous Laker energy when I am at work. Please include me on the rolls from now on, I may not be able to comment as much as I would like, but I'm always here in spirit! GO LAKERS!!!! We got this and then some!
Airlock
Mark Geezy - just exactly how many groupy trolls of your own do you have??? LOL!
I had one... now I don't... I'm the one feeling left out :(
Derek Fisher is such an F'N Actress. Sure he played a great game, but that was all uncalled for and bunch of nonsense.
The Leprechauns will reign supreme when this is all said in done.
#UpsetinFlakerLand
This forum is truly one of the bright spots on the sports Internet! The people in here, by and large, are not only Laker fanatics, but they are true students of the game of basketball and of the history of the NBA. The caliber of discussion in here is generally several levels above what I see on other sites. Anyone who has read Jon K., LakerTom, , Art - FL Laker Fan, mamba24, HalosAnt, Edwin Gueco, t_sensei, Tim-4-Show, Jamie Sweet, justanothermambafan, (sorry if I left any founding fathers out) and many of the other regular posters in this forum automatically knows that these fans understand the game, the League, the history, the team and that we all appreciate one another. We are fortunate to have this forum and to have such a great franchise here in Los Angeles! Go Lakers! #16 coming up STRONG!
I AM FEELING SOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOVEY-DOVEY TODAY......
LOVEY-DOVEY:
Well, you're the cutest thing that I did ever see
I really love your peaches, want to shake your tree.
Lovey dovey , lovey dovey all the time
Lovey dovey, I can't get you out of my mind.
Every time you kiss
me you just thrill me so
Don't never, never, never, never let me go.
Oh lovey , lovey dovey all the time
Lovey dovey, I can't get you out of my mind.
I sigh with the feeling when you are near me
I'm high as a ceiling, oh baby hear me
Cause I'm saying that I love you, place none above you,
Give it up, pretty mama, I can't wait, because
My love is tumblin' down, you know I feel the mood
For you my darlin' I would break my mama's rule
Ooh lovey , lovey dovey all the time
Lovey dovey, I can't get you out of my mind.
I sigh with the feeling when you are near me
I'm high as a ceiling, oh baby hear me
Cause I'm saying that I love you, place none above you,
Love me, pretty mama, I can't wait, because [this line has changed a bit]
My love is tumblin' down, you know I feel the mood
For you my darlin' I would break my mama's rule
Ooh lovey , lovey dovey all the time
Lovey dovey, I can't get you out of my mind.
We can now all together cheer for both the teams,
I am feeling lovey-doveyas peaches and cream
Greg,
"Derek Fisher is such an F'N Actress."
Incorrect. Paula Pierce IS an actress.
Derek Fisher is by contrast a man of passion.
Listen, pal, you can fix ignorant, but you can't fix stupid. In the future you may want to consider keeping your comments to yourself.
What do we play for? RINGS!!!
Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.
GO LAKERS!!!
"Did anyone take notice of what almost happened in game 3? Death Ray Allen almost followed the greatest offensive game in NBA Final history with the worst. The record for futility in a Final's game is 0-14. He just missed it by that much.
Too bad he barely missed a unique place in history.
Oh well...
--FEARless
Posted by: FEARless | June 10, 2010 at 09:06 AM"
Fearless, actually that was close enough in my book...and should be in the books of all the commentators in the future from here on. The fact that one of the acclaimed all time greatest shooters was hitting a cow's flank, when he was aiming for a bull's eye. After a game where he set records, he basically negated them by building that brickhouse. Ray Allen's role is not that complicated, run thru a zillion screens set for you, catch ball and release. Yes he does have a very quick release and is a very accurate shooter, but if you were picking a team, I don't think that he would be in the top 25 to consider, even if you give him 5 years of his age back. He's too one dimensional. Kobe should have whomped on him back when the had their tiff, but I think back then Ray Allen was proabably stronger than the young Kobe was...who's the Man now...... MAMBA!!!!!!!!!
When Ray Allen said "Another win in LA" at the ESPY's that really showed how fast the mighty can fall. He must have drank his kool-aid and put on his black Nike's and robe as soon as he became a Shell-Tick....how about a little humility, how about reminiscing about all those years you won nothing in Seattle and was it Milwaukie? ... you were relegated to....
At the Laker celebration after defeating Orlando, did anyone put down or mention anything, but the effort, the teamwork, the time put in, sticking together through adversity....I think the class of the organizations speaks for itself.
When the Lakers were pursuing KG, they offered plenty, but Kevin McHale just slid him to the Celtics under the table, the same way he handled Joe Smith. Then the league cries when the Lakers get Pau. The Lakers gave up alot to get Pau, it was alot, but it also was alot of stuff that they did not need. And what did we get?, a talented, but "soft" big man. Who Kobe had to rebuild, and that is an ongoing project.
KG + Kevin McHale - Minnesota Timberwolves + Danny Ainge + Boston Celtics = Championship '08.
OR
Collusion.
A few thoughts on Fish...
He is as mentally tough of a player as I have ever seen.
Years from now, when Andrew Bynum is fully mature and crushing the NBA, the time spent with Derek as a teammate will continue to pay dividends. Fish makes other players better.
Big Baby Huey Davis could have easily been called for a flagrant foul on Fish's backbreaking layup at the end of game 3. And....Fish got fouled by all three Celtics surrounding him on that play. My point is that 2 players were allowed a free hack by not being assessed a foul. I think that on a play like that all three players should be hit with a foul but the player that was fouled should only get the and one or a two shot foul if they miss the shot.
Fish is a future coach. I hope he maintains his relationship with the Lakers for a long time.
GO LAKERS!!
PUT A STRANGLEHOLD ON THIS SERIES TONIGHT!!!
Those youtube videos with Big Baby Davis were hilarious! Kid looked really drunk! Whattaguy!
The C's are playing one of my favorite songs, "Promontory," during the warmups. They're going full "Kel-Tick" tonite! They know this is it.
Come on, Lakers. Come on D-Laker. Come on, Closer. Come on, Socks. Come on, Spaniard. Come on, Our Test. Come on, Bench Mob. Come on, Zen Master.
Let's get this series over with!!!!!
