Live chat: Lakers-Suns Game 4
Welcome to the Lakers live chat. Mark Medina is having some technical difficulties this evening, but he'll do his best to join in on the conversation.

THIS is what I call some Pacific Division ball. The shooting so pure, you can drink from it.
Posted by: BUTLER | May 25, 2010 at 06:57 PM
another horribly officiated game!
Posted by: rdlee | May 25, 2010 at 07:13 PM
we are done. period.
Posted by: blake | May 25, 2010 at 08:16 PM
MOMENTUM HAS SWUNG ON SUNS FAVOR....
WOW the dang SUNS second team is beating Lakers first unit.
Lakers are working their tail off to get a difficult shot while the Suns are just toying with the lakers..hmmm
Posted by: Jesus Santos | May 25, 2010 at 08:18 PM
*Sigh*
Same old NBA, same old cruddy officiating.
I mean really, we're supposed to buy this BS and just go along? Sorry, I have eyes. I can see Pau getting molested with no whistle and Almond-son going over the back and somehow that gets him two free throws.
NBA = Professional Wrestling, only the players don't get to know the script.

FIXED
Posted by: Mayor of Kobe Town | May 25, 2010 at 08:24 PM
The level of biased officiating in this game was off the charts.
The team the NBA wanted to win won, and clearly had all the help they could get from the refs.
100% guarantee Celtics/Orlando goes to game 6. The NBA has lost too much money on these playoffs already, every series will be artificially stretched out in order to recoup their losses.
Posted by: Mayor of Kobe Town | May 25, 2010 at 08:26 PM
Mayor of Kobe Town,
The reason why David Stern is helping the Suns win is that he knows the Celtics are going to win the series tomorrow and he doesn't want an entire week of no NBA games. He wants this series to go at least 6 games.
The NBA is so fixed. I knew from the first few plays when the Suns were hacking the Lakers and nothing was called that the game was going to be fixed to let the Suns win. The NBA is so fake.
After the season, Bynum and Odom need to go. I'm sick and tired of their poor play. Artest was useless too.
Odom is one of the dumbest and most inconsistent players in the league. He's totally useless.
I shouldn't have even watch this game.
The Lakers were able to sweep Utah because Stern had Celtics-Cavs series and Utah will get no love from the refs because Stern has no use for them.
David Stern should have joined Tim Donahy in prison.
NBA = WWE

Don't worry though. David Stern would rather have Lakers in the finals so the Lakers will get all the calls in the next game.
Posted by: dj855 | May 25, 2010 at 08:36 PM
Lakers playing like April again. We lose in 6...
Better than losing to the Celtics.
Posted by: dewey | May 25, 2010 at 08:38 PM
Suns in 6
Posted by: David Eastman | May 25, 2010 at 08:38 PM
I am so sick of watching TNT where ALL of the commentators are rooting for anybody but the Lakers!
I guess the Lakers will never get another call this post season. The hacking going on the Laker bigs not being called looked like the fix was in.
Barkley is a moron. He knows very little about basketball - he just pushed his big rear end to the rim - never and D.
Posted by: NuggetsCountry | May 25, 2010 at 08:48 PM
Seriously, can anyone see the Lakers beating the Celtics? IF the Lakers were to win this series -- which I highly doubt -- Celtics beat us in 5 very easy games for them. It'll be embarrassing. Better to just lose to the Suns and then let PJ walk.
Posted by: dewey | May 25, 2010 at 08:50 PM
unreal game
how stats lie
Artest and Gasol +10
Kobe -4
I guess we should have benched Kobe and let gasol and artest lead us
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 08:54 PM
tell me how can a player play only 13 minutes and have a -21
Thats Shannon Brown WOW
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 08:56 PM
Yeah, Phil, it was the free throws that beat you. Keep thinking that and you will be able to get a new job!
Posted by: dana | May 25, 2010 at 08:56 PM
the most worrisome thing about this?
Kobe scoring 30+ and having 10+ assists and the Lakers still lose
THAT SPELLS SERIOUS PROBLEMS
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 09:03 PM
Well my LA friends, that was a proud moment for SUNS fans the world round.
How about Dragic? His spectacular drive to the hoop made Derek Fischer look vulnerable and aged.
Imagine the spurs' pain at giving him to the SUNS.
Interesting what Kenny smith said about the zone: LA lacks a true PG who can defeat a zone. I think we have us a series.
Posted by: BUTLER | May 25, 2010 at 09:10 PM
It doesn't make sense that a guy that loves to shoot the ball like Kobe decides to only take 4 shots in the 4th quarter and make them all...I smell fixed game...
Posted by: Peter | May 25, 2010 at 09:13 PM
The league wants to extend the series....I guarantee Lakers win Thursday and then win in Phoenix on Saturday...They won't extend it to 7 games for the risk the Lakers may lose the series...So obvious!!
Posted by: Peter | May 25, 2010 at 09:14 PM
FREE THROWS
GAME 3
42-20 SUNS +22
GAME4
32-13 SUNS +19
GAME2
34-26 LAKERS +8
GAME1
32-22 SUNS +10
So the Lakers have shot more free throws than the Suns just once in this entire series.
the Suns have shot 43 more free throws in this series
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 09:17 PM
big disparity in free throws
logically you can conclude that the free throws should have resembled somthing like the 1st 2 games in LA
logically you can conclude this is a corrupt league
has been and always will be until darth Stern is ousted by the owners
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 09:26 PM
If all you conspiracy theorists are correct, that means that every Laker championship is a fake, trumped up by the league for the sake of ratings and not earned. Do you really want to go down that road? If so, turn off the television and get another hobby.
The Suns missed nine free throws tonight. The game wasn't won at the line. The Lakers shot 28 3-pointers because they were frustrated by a defense they don't see a lot of extended periods of time. They will likely figure it out for Game 5. But enough with the "fixed" crap. It's below you.
Posted by: Get Real | May 25, 2010 at 09:30 PM
Like I said
At home, the Lakers had 8 more FT's in one game and 10 less in the other
In Phoenix, the Suns shoot 22 and 19 more FT's than the Lakers
Someone explain to me why the disparity is so great
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 09:37 PM
Poor or crooked officiating can also make a team look like wussies
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 09:40 PM
NBA is becoming WWE.
Game #3: Lakers had better shooting percentage and better 3-point shooting percentage. The difference maker: trips to the free throw line. Game 4: Lakers again have better shooting percentage, almost as good 3 point shooting percentage! Difference maker: trips to the free throw line.
The best team in the NBA will still lose if they are up against the refs.
Posted by: James | May 25, 2010 at 09:40 PM
I'm a Laker fan, and the Lakers got beat. The Suns were the better team in games 3 and 4. It ain't the refs. These crybabies don't represent Laker fans.
Posted by: Ross | May 25, 2010 at 09:43 PM
The Lakers outscored the Suns in the paint 42 to 32.
Yet the Suns shot 32 freethrows to the Lakers 13?
The Lakers will win in six.
The Celtics will win in six.
And yes, the league is fixed.
I used to watch the NFL every Sunday.
I will only watch a NFL game every now and then.
Why?
The Seahawks vs Steelers Superbowl was rigged.
I will longer watch the NBA regular season.
Why?
The NBA is rigged.
The Lakers and Celtics will play for the championship.
However, stretching the series is so sad to see.
Money. Money. Money.
Sad.

Get Real and Ross,
It's obvious that you're just band wagon fans who don't really follow basketball or follow any news.
First of all, most true fans know that the games are fixed. Not deliberately, but refs ALWAYS make calls to favor one team or another or to keep games close. Sometimes, as Tim Donahy admitted under oat, the games are deliberately fixed. Do you even watch the news? He admitted that the League wanted a game 7 that year. So I admit it. The Lakers do benefit. But in game 5 of that year in Sacramento, the Lakers got totally screwed.
It's TRUE that the Lakers have benefited from calls in the past because David Stern WANTS the Lakers in the Finals, but it also means that he wants to keep the series close. He also REALLY REALLY wants a Lakers Celtics finals. Even though the number of fouls were close in the Celtics-Orando series and Orlando is a crappy team, Orlando has been getting more screwed by the refs than the Lakers.
NBA = WWE
Posted by: dj855 | May 25, 2010 at 09:52 PM
So game 5 will be just called straight because Stern knows the Lakers don't need help from the refs to win. Now the Lakers may still lose and still get knocked off. Maybe Stern wants Nash to finally make it to the Finals to vindicate him. Who knows. But I think due to the declining revenue of the NBA, he needs a Lakers Celtics Finals more than anything.
Posted by: dj855 | May 25, 2010 at 09:55 PM
As a Lakers fan I think Phil should have played Sasha Vujacic that is the answer to this zone or go inside every time not Ron or Lamar shooting threes am I wrong please help me Lakers fan
Posted by: jean in atlanta | May 25, 2010 at 09:56 PM
YOU'RE NOT A LAKER FAN IF YOUR NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE OFFICIATING EVEN PHIL HAD TO SAY SOMETHING
I CAN ACCEPT A LITTLE HOME COOKING
BUT I REFUSE TO ACCEPT THE FACT AND I HAVE SHOWN THE FACTS
THAT THE LAKERS GET THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF CALLS AT HOME
WHILE THEIR OPPONENTS GET DOUBLE OR TRIPLE THE CALLS WHEN THEY ARE AT HOME.
THE FACTS ARE THERE EXPLAIN IT AWAY YOU SMARTY JONES
Posted by: Troll Man | May 25, 2010 at 10:04 PM
I used to give Laker fans credit for their basketball intelligence. But the display on this board is pathetic. You believe the word of a disgraced, convicted felon looking to make back some of the money sucked up by lawyer fees. You don't deserve the team you have or the legacy it's built. Take your loss like your players do, like Mr. Bryant did after the game. The Laker defense was awful. They didn't move their feet, they didn't bring the fight and they fouled. There were some missed calls late on Gasol, but this wasn't a one or two-possession game. Accept defeat gracefully, just as your team has won with grace for 50 years.
Posted by: Get Real | May 25, 2010 at 10:17 PM
Kobe had a Lebron game tonight -- winning by yourself is tough.
Posted by: hungryneck | May 25, 2010 at 10:30 PM
Lakers getting hacked left and right and no calls. The suns barely getting touched and the whistles are blowing. This game was called so one sided to the Suns its ridiculous. I'll give it to the Suns that the Lakers can't figure out the zone and its throwing them off their game, but at least let it be a fair fight with fouls.
Lets see if there is some home cookin with the refs in game 5 back in LA. Also, lets hope the LA Fans can give the same energy in the arena that the Phoenix crowd gave their team.
