MM- Get some sleep brother. You're up too early for a Sunday morning.

It's true Gasol had a pretty bad game, it happens. Still I thought he played hard the whole game. In the past he would have sulked, I didn't feel like he did that in this game.

I read Drew is thinking about having his knee drained. I hope he does it. It sure worked for Kobe and we need Drew to neutralize Perkins.

Is it game day yet?

Yes, Pau had a bad game, but his team picked him up. He'll be fine.

With all due respect to Ernest Lawrence Thayer,
Author of Casey at the Bat (1888), from which this was altered.

Kobe Takes The Shot

The outlook wasn't pretty for the Phoenix five that day;
The score stood 3 games to 2, but the Suns wouldn't go away,
And when Gasol kept missing inside, and Odom did the same,
Resounding cheers of happiness came from the patrons of the game.

A straggling few got up, to go in deep despair.
The rest clung to that hope which springs eternal in the air;
They thought, "If only Kobe would stay longer on the bench —
Finally our thirst for victory, we'd be able to quench."

But Fish preceded Kobe, as did also Ron Artest,
And the Fish was hitting big shots, while Ron was at his best;
So upon that stricken multitude grim Suns began to shoot;
And it seemed they had a chance without Kobe getting to the hoop.

But Fish let loose a 3, he knew what he was playing for,
And Artest, to all's surprise, kept adding to the score;
But after Sasha clobbered Dragic, and men saw what had occurred,
There was Dragic, Nash and Frye rallying the herd.

Then from 20 thousand throats and more there rose a lusty yell;
It rumbled through the valley, it rattled in the dell;
It pounded on the mountain and recoiled upon the plain,
For Kobe, mighty Kobe, was entering the game.

There was ease in Kobes manner as he got into his place;
There was pride in Kobes bearing and a glare filled up his face.
And when, responding to the jeers, he lightly tipped his head,
No stranger in the crowd could doubt the Suns would soon be dead.

20 thousand eyes were on him as he dribbled up the court.
20 thousand tongues were jeering but them he just ignored.
Then while the desperate Suns tried to make him slip,
Defiance flashed in Kobes eye, a sneer curled his upper lip.

And now the leather-covered sphere went hurtling through the air,
And Kobe stood a-watching it in haughty grandeur there.
Close by the bench all stood, no one moved at all —
Swoosh the ball went though the net, he was fouled and got the call.

In the stands filled with orange, there went up a muffled roar,
Like the beating of the storm-waves on a stern and distant shore;
"Kill him! Kill the ref!" shouted some one on the stands;
And maybe someone would have done that had not Kobe raised his hand.

With a smile of Christian charity great Kobes visage shone;
He stilled the rising tumult; he bade the game go on;
He signaled to his teammates, you better get that ball to me;
The opponents kept on hacking him then Kobe hit a '3'!

"Stop him!" cried the maddened thousands, he can't play one-on-five"
But one scornful look from Kobe and the audience saw it in his eyes.
They saw his face grow stern and cold, they saw his muscles strain,
And they knew that Kobe wouldn't let this game go down the drain.

The sneer remained on Kobes face, the teeth were clenched in hate;
He heads towards the basket, as the clock winds down he waits.
And now the Kobster holds the ball, and then he lets it go,
And then the air is parted by the grace of Kobes throw.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright,
A band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, kids are playing and whatnot;
And there is great joy in Laker-ville — mighty Kobe made the shots.

Whether or not we win the Championship will be up to the Laker Front Line.

Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, and Lamar Odom hold the fate of the Lakers and all their fans in their collective hands.

bad game for Pau, really bad, poor game. Period.

First MM, big ups man. You are doing an awesome job!

Second, this is the best blog in the land because of the great prose of bloggers like Jon K., LakerTom, Mike T., Mamba 24, Phred, Fatty, the Moderator, Princess Z among others. But Art-FL Laker Fan you out did yourself. That is just an awesome ode to Kobe Bean Bryant's greatness. As Mamba 24 says regularly OUT FREAKIN STANDING!!!

Third, I loved seeing Steve Nash cry. Great player and all but I remember just like Kobe does, Nash and his teammates verbally dogged and disrespected the Lakers back in 2006 and 2007. Kobe and the Lakers made him cry in 2010, revenge is a dish best served cold, now for me all is forgiven. Nash should remember to never make fun of your opponent when they are as great as Kobe Bryant is, he never forgets, and he will never let you forget.

Is it Thursday yet? Cause we ain't seen nothing yet!

Go Lakers!!!
Go Lakers!!!

I watched the trophy presentation and the team looks like it's very focused and ready to go against the celts.......Phil said that they are looking forward to this series with great intensity........what a great line.......coop even chimed in, saying "Boston, u wanted us.....we're coming for u".......and if u saw magic's commentary on espn, u can see that the old competitive juice started flowing within him........as a die hard laker fan, I'm all lathered up and ready for this classic finals matchup......

OMG YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WE AARE GOIN' TO THE FINALS!!! OUR DYNASTY IS CEMENTED. 3 out of 4 years !! HOW GOOD IS THAT??? WHOOOOPIE !!!

GOOOOOOOooooOOOOOOOOooooOOOOOOOOooooooOOOOOooOOOOOO
LLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRSSSSSS!

THe coming war is the reason Ron Artest is a Laker. His basketball career was aimed at this purpose. Pierce is about to visit Ron's park, where it's hard to breath and legs are heavy.

Just 4 mo' blog bros.

This series was very encouraging. Phoenix is a talented, explosive team (and much taller than you would think from all the talk about Laker length). On top of that, they were very we coached. Gentry showed smarts, and class as well with his reaction to Kobe as the series ended.

Phoenix basically took away the low post from the Lakers. It go lost in the shuffle, but in addition to taking away Pau's low post game, they also took away Kobe's inside game and turned him into a jump shooter (a freaking incredible one). It's tough when they take away your second option (Pau) and almost all of your inside game. And they did it. They denied entry very well (and the Lakers feed the post poorly anyway). Doubled quickly on every touch down low. Clogged the lane.

They said this - "Kobe, beat us from outside, Artest, Fisher, be scorers." It is the smartest way possible to play the Lakers. With a good defensive strategy and an explosive offense, Phoenix put themselves in a position to win.

BUT Kobe was having none of it. He saw what the zone gave him and took that, and much more. Kobe in Q4 last night was just incredible. Still the best. Jordan was never better.

AND - with Suns draped all over Pau, the Lakers needed a second option. So in game 5 Fish went for 20. And in game 6 Artest did. Sasha and Farmar hit a few key shots. They played tough D. And, even with the Suns playing the Lakers smart and very well, the Lakers got it done.

That is very encouraging. The Lakers perservered, adjusted, and stepped up. In particular, Kobe looked outright scary. And Fisher stepped up and played incredibly well in this series. His ability to pick key points in the game to score was remarkable. Kobe showed faith in Fish - in the fourth he passed the ball to him with about 5 seconds on the clock for a very tough baseline jumper, that Derek buried.

The Lakers were forced to go to secondary options, to run the offense better against the zone, to play active defense. All that will be needed against the Ugly Greens.

Now we wait for the Finals.

I can't believe that some on here are defending Sasha by saying that Dragic flopped. We all saw that he flopped. The refs probably know that he flopped. The important point is that Sasha had ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS reacting to Dragic at that point in the game. This is about winning, not about sending messages. The Lakers were up 15. The 2 technical FT's from Dragic preceded the next possession where Sasha played matador defense and practically escorted Dragic to the basket. That cut the lead to 11 and from there the game was in jeopardy again. There is no sugar coating it. That was just a horrible sequence for Sasha. He was in the game to buy a few minutes of rest for the guys like Kobe who were winning the game for his team. That was his role. Not to send messages or settle personal scores. Not to almost cost your team the game.

Art-FL Lakers Fan....

Kudos, my friend. That adaptation of "Casey at the Bat" was clever and extremely well done. I'm printing it to save as a memento of the Laker's 2010 playoff run which will hopefully end with the C'ship. Thanks!

=========================================

I agree with the horrible sequence part but don't you think it's unfair officiating when Lopez did the same thing to Fisher, and Dragic pushed Sasha as if to start a fisticuff. Both was instigated by the Suns and was called for double technical? When a Laker instigates it's a flagrant?

WHERE ARE ALL THESE POSTERS NOW?
I SAVED THESE FOR A REASON:

It's the CAV's year, no doubt. The Fakers are done, toast, kapoootsy, and those are their best qualities.
Posted by: mike smith | April 10, 2010 at 09:20 PM

Who still thinks this team deserves to be called the Lakers and not the FAKERS?
Stop fooling yourselves!
Derek Fisher is USELESS.
I can't picture Trevor Ariza blowing a breakaway layup...
Kobe will never be what Magic Johnson was...Kobe is in it for himself and I agree with everyone who was wondering why he wasn;t on the bench supporting his crew last night.
Phil Jackson's time is up too.
WAY TO STEP UP AND PLAY BIG LAMAR! The guy is all TMZ and not NBA now...I'll never understand why this dude who could have got ANY chick in LA goes for the biggest HOG of the Kardashian's...his pride in picking a wife equals his pride in playing hard on a nightly basis.
Where's Jonny Boy K and his voice of reason? Anyone defending Derek Fisher on here is just as big a loser as he is. This team has NO shot.

LAKERS OVER HERE, LKAKERS OVER THERE, LAKERS RIGHT AWAY, LAKERS WHNEVER, LAKERS IN 24 SECONDS, LAKERS AT NIGHT, LAKERS AT LUNCH!!!
TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!!

I don't see the Fakers getting out of the first or second round tops. At their age(s) and mannerisms, especially Ron Artest, they are not that disciplined like other LA teams of the past. It's the CAV's year, no doubt. The Fakers are done, toast, kapoootsy, and those are their best qualities.

TOO BAD THE SERIES IS OVER.

Or better yet, Phoenix need that shirt.

Make a name for myself? LOL!

Gee, calling Mamba24...these people just keep setting themselves up for

Boston in 5 or 6.

Now Vlade can breath easy because a worse flopper has been found in Dragic. On the replay you can see he took a peek at the ref then dropped to the floor, covering his face, writhing in pain; so bad acting it was comical. The worst part was the refs bought it even Dragic was the one initiated the incident by walking back towards Sasha and barked in his ears . Dragic certainly earned a Razzie for that lousy performance. Having said that, Sasha should have more control over his emotions and he certainly underestimated how strong he was to have caused such pain to Dragic.

mti312....

To me it doesn't matter what the refs called or didn't call at that point in the game. And, although I agree that they missed calls throughout the series, as a professional ballplayer, one has to play through all of that and remained focused on the ultimate goal. DFish was getting blasted by illegal screens throughout the game, particularly by Amare. He never took the bait and instigated any retaliation. Kobe was getting hacked all night long, with very few foul shots to show for it. He played through it. Lamar and Pau got hammered under the basket all night long. They continued to play through it. As difficult as it is, a player has to take his personal feelings out of the game and concentrate on what's best for his team and how he can best help his team win. Sasha let his team down last night. He didn't fulfill his role and let his immaturity and emotions get the best of him.

Mike T

Sasha deserved a foul and perhaps a tech. Not a flagrant.

Dragic deserved a tech and perhaps a bloody mouth. He got neither.

bronxlakerfan,
I said I do agree with you. I was questioning why the refs called double technicals when Fisher was elbowed by Lopez. Sasha barked at Dragic and Dragic pushed Sasha to start a fight.
I guess my point is, this double technical must be changed. There shouldnt be anymore double technicals. It should be either or. Just a technical on one player or flagrant. This will end this controversy once they enforce that rule.

New rules should be:
1. No more double technicals.
2. NBA should review possible floppers and fine them if proven the player flopped according to their judgement.

wow, JA Adande - no faith

Greetings fellow Lakeraholics!

What a lovely day!

So, I got off the plane last night at LAX and was able to watch the last 5:46 seconds of the fourth quarter.

I walked into the closest sports bar and it was just me and four employees all rapt in the television. As various Kobe shots fell and we shouted out with joy (including a bellowing "THAT'S WHY HE'S KOBE-FRICKEN-BRYANT!" from myself, more and more people filled the room until the last minute in which the bar was largely packed.

Packed with people from different ages, different races, different backgrounds, different faiths... all jubilantly rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers and finding a commonality, a fraternity in that.

It was awesome.

Bring on the Celtics!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Yes, you’re Mike T. The guy who ran away like a little girl after the Lakers traded away your precious Kwame Brown for a real big man in Pau Gasol. You’re the Mike T who put a foot in his mouth when he proclaimed that the Lakers would never win a championship with Gasol and went into cowardly hiding when the Lakers won the chip

I take it back…you having nothing to lose because you’re already at the bottom. But I’m giving you a chance at redemption.

This time when the Lakers win the chip I want you to stay gone.

Deal? Or are you still gutless?

Mike,

Don't worry. Whatever ESPN says, the opposite thing will actually happen.

I'm beginning to think that ESPN works with bookies and/or organized crime to lend their "expert advice" to people who don't know any better so they'll bet in the wrong direction.

I'm wondering if that could honestly be true, because they are so consistently wrong, yet have so much inside access.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

mti312...

I agree with you that the double technical is a cop out. And flopping needs to be addressed. Perhaps the NBA could have a replay ref seated at the scorer's table who could review such plays and alert the on court referees as to exactly who initiated the action resulting in a double tech. As we all know, the refs usually miss the first hit and generally catch the guy that reacts, just like last night with Sasha and Dragic.

I see most of the NBA basketball experts, overwhelmingly have picked the Lakers to win. I hope it doesn't jinx us to be favored so heavily.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/fp/flashPollResultsState?location=/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-100529/daily-dime&pollId=91749

I'm interested in Yahoo Sports picks.

Kenny Smith seems to have a good understanding
of playoff basketball. He picked the Celtics over
the Magic in 6 games.

mike t.

Fatty,

The same thing happened in 2008.

The Lakers were favorite by almost everyone except
Doc Rivers.

Doc Rivers says, when healthy, the starting five of:

Rondo
Allen
Perkins
Pierce
Garnett

have yet to lose a series.

mike t.

Machine no understand why team pissed at him!

Machine no understand why flight to LA left without him! (jk)

Machine glad to have Sharapova comfort at home and fat paycheck!

Enjoy it while you can, Machine!

Mike T

The same can be said of the Lakers. When healthy we haven't lost. This is why I feel its going to be a great series. Superb defense on both sides. Close games.

Celtics don't execute well in the 4th in close games. Advantage Kobe and the Lakers.

Lakers 5-6 games

PS. Hey Mike T, Why you not in church on a Sunday AM? lol

Michael C. Teniente,

GO LAKERS!!!

Fatty,

Kobe wants revenge.

We're older (in a good way). The Celtics are older (in a not necessarily awesome way for them.)

We've got Artest, who will be fully unleashed and after Game Five against the Suns now is truly a Laker.

We actually will have a somewhat more mature Bynum on the court.

We have home court advantage.

I'm greatly looking forward to this.

History is now!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Good morning,

I find myself too exhausted from the WCF to even write this morning. Just checking in to say, Have A Great Day! Go Lakers!

Okay Art - Fl Lakers Fan, I would say you sir, are into these playoffs and into rare form....

Fatty tries to write a poem.

Roses are Red

Lakers to the Celtics
F*** You!

Fatty - Let the war begin. First on the blogs, then on the court.

Congratulations to the Lakers for playing a great series. Third Finals appearance in a row? Fantastic.

My favorite part of the night was the trophy ceremony. None of the Lakers were smiling or celebrating. They know it doesn't mean anything yet. We don't hang conference banners in Staples.

For those of you getting riled up at the Little Lieutenant, remember one thing: The guy isn't a Lakers fan. He doesn't watch the games. He writes commentary based on what OTHER pundits write. That's so... little of him. He's a little man with a big ego and an even bigger need for attention. Starve him like the troll he is. And don't visit his website unless you're prepared to read some of the worst drivel ever written. It really is that bad.

Yes Kobe and this team are highly motivated to stay focused on and off the court for the next two weeks or a Lakers Championship, whichever comes first.

All those same guys that picked the Lakers over the Celtics in 08 are now picking the Celtics over the Lakers this time. Goes to show how much they really know. These are the same guys who picked LeBron and the Cavs to win it all this year. Their predictions are no better than anyone else on here.

preseason picks and playoff picks by these same experts:

Adande - Cavs
Legler - Cavs
Broussard - Cavs
and just about everyone else had the Cavs winning it all.

To have BSPN keeping playing Lakers out is just a point in favour AND a point of honour.

Those are the same fools predicting Crabs unbeatable and the glory of the Biggest Loser of all time.

They simply are delusional and so out, out, OUT of reality ;)

Just saying.

2010 it's revenge year.

Such a sweet, tasty, awesome year for us ;)

I can feel it, coming in the air of night... ;)

RED's LOVE CHILD,

You had given examples on ESPN's editor's predictions, where most of them have predicted Celtics to win in 6.

However, rewind your memory to 2008, pre-Finals?? The same ESPN editorial group had predicted "Lakers in 5", "Lakers in 6"... There was not even a mention of a Game-7!! We know how it turned out.

So, never take the predictions!!

bronxlakerfan, I agree that it was a stupid play on Sashas part, and in my opinion, a worse call by the refs. Kobe took over and we won the game inspite of the flagrant flop, flagrant foul or flagrant call by the refs- whatever you or I want to call it.
Important thing is for Sasha and the Lakers to LEARN from this, because you know the Celtic's with their physical play are going to try to goat us into losing our cool and making bone head plays.

I don't know why some people are putting ESPN down for their picks.
Out of the 10 predictions 6 go in the Lakers' favor.

Only 4 writers are picking the Celtics and if ESPN is usually wrong,
well, that's not a good sign for the Lakers.

Laker fan-

Great to see you having a good laugh at the expense of the media "experts" but have you gone back any read any of comments posted by the "experts" on this blog regarding the "old" Celtics?

How many of the blog geniuses picked Miami over Boston? How many picked the Cavs over Boston? Orlando over Boston? And dont give me any of your BS about you wanting Boston to win so you could play them in the Finals.

Mike T. has nothing to apologize for. He has been right for the last two months ... while all of you have been wrong. Are you gonna apologize to him NOW?

Good morning to my brother, Mamba24!!

Please put me down with the "I believe in the Lakers" b/wagon!

How could a true Laker fan not believe after what we've seen in the Western playoffs? Our Lakers will find a way!!

GO LAKERS!!! Beat back the green slime!!

Kobe slapping Gentry on the azz after the last of his cold-blooded daggers was quite simply one of the coolest things I have ever seen. The very classy Gentry's reaction, as his coaching and motivating throughout the series, was nearly perfection. What a great moment in sports.

The "complaint" that the Lakers "struggled" at times in this series brings to mind the great Jimmy Duggan from 'A League of Our Own" explaining the beauty of the struggle to Dottie Hinson:

"Of course it's hard. If it was easy, anyone would be able to do it. It's supposed to be hard! The HARD...that's what makes it GREAT!"

Here's to overcoming more "struggles" on our way to Title # 16!!

GO LAKERS!!!

"(00) JON K. - OWNER – Mike T will you apologize when the Lakers destroy the Celtics? Bring on the Celtics"

If the Lakers beat the Celtics I will admit that I was wrong about the trade for Gasol.

But if the Celtics win will you admit that the Lakers traded the wrong person for Gasol?

My problem with Gasol isn't his scoring. He's an excellent "power forward" but as a defensive person...he is seriously weak.

That's no problem if we had a defensive center to compliment the scoring power forward.

Bynum says he's defensive but he's not. He could be but he has his mind on wanting to be an all-star player, which means an emphasis on scoring. He's not a good compliment to the Gasol power forward type.

Anyway, if the Lakers win I'll admit I was wrong.

But if the Celtics win all of you admit we need a strong defensive center like Kwame Brown, who is a free agent this summer.

Is it a bet?

Boston in 5 or 6 because of the Celtics' defensive center.

mike t.

Let`s just have a nice, clean, hard fought, competitive series. Ok?

No more roughhouse antics that cause the Celtics to have to construct a "medical triage" by their bench!

We`ve seen enough of Pierce having to be wheeled off in wheelchairs, as well as Baby Davis and Marquis Daniels suffering concussions, etc.

As reasonable people, I think we can all agree on this.

Is it a bet?

yea or nay?

Where ya guts on this matter?

If the Lakers win I'll admit I was wrong.

If the Celtics win mamba24 starts a we need a Kwame Brown bandwagon and everyone signs on!

And I mean Kwame Brown as the starting center with Bynum coming off the bench.

Is it a bet?

mike t.

Mamba24...you are good! You beat me to the punch and got me on the B/wagon before I even asked!

TIME FOR SWEEEEET SIXTEEEEEEN!!!

mamba24, put me on the bandwagon, please.

Mamba24,

Of course, I BELIEVE! Band wagon tickets, please, sir. And Kobe Bryant for Finals MVP, Greatest of All Time!

Lovely Larry picked up the song I quoted :)
awwww :)
Thanx ;)

But I haven't cursed fatty myself ;) that Fword is not mine ;)
LOL...
;)

"You're simply the best, better than all the rest ;)"

I'll take the bet, Mike T. But you have to keep your word and never flip flop in the future if you lose.

bye bye bye,

Your on!

You will admit we need Kwame if the Boston frontline dominates
and causes the Lakers to lose in the finals again.

mike t.

Mike T.....

I'll agree with you that Kwame was a good one on one defender in the post. But Kwame was never a shot blocker who could shut down penetration in the lane. And his offensive game was so weak that he was an extreme liability. It was like playing 4 on 5 on offense. Pau has his limitations, but I think you'd have to agree that he is a much better all ballplayer around than your boy, Kwame. I agree that the Lakers could use another defensive minded big. I'm just not sure that Kwame is the answer. Even Mbenga has a better offensive game than Kwame.

Wow, my first bandwagon! Man, this is fun!

Thanks mamba!

I will be flying in from OKC on Wed for Game 1. Gotta get us started right!

bronxlakerfan,

Either make the bet or hush your lip!

There is no need for justifications.

This Boston/Los Angeles series will determine
who is right and wrong once and for all.

Lakers win I'll admit I was wrong.

Celtics win you admit I'm right and if I say we need
Kwame you say: mike t. knows best.

Make the bet or hush up.

mike t.

Kwame wasn't that good on defense that you could ignore his total impotence on offense. He wasn't Bill Russell or Mutombo.

Stakes too high for all you cheerleaders?

You talk a big game but here's the bet and
all the cheers have died down.

LOL!

Boston in 5 or 6.

mike t.

Thats exactly what I said. I meant he has nothing to apologize for regarding his Celtic prediction. What he has said or done in the past I dont know. And dont give a rats behind. I wasnt here when he talked about Kawme calves and I dont even know if he did or not. But I dont care.

You yellowfever have been wrong about the Celtics for 9 months now and still want more?

or better yet,

You cheer a good game but when the stakes
are for put up or shut up...

Where is the substance to your cheers?

Old pom-pom Lakers fans and nothing more.

mike t.

131-

fyi, i had boston over cavs when everybody already counted them out..

if ur gonna show ur face around here at least get your facts straight.

Michael C. Teniente,

I will agree with you that Gasol is much better on offense than on defense, but will you admit that since 2008 that Gasol's defense has improved considerably?

Also, if you think we traded Kwame for the wrong guy, who, realistically do you think could have been the "right guy"?

Also ALSO, Mbenga is quite good on defense, but for some reason we play better with Gasol and Bynum than Gasol and Mbenga. How do you explain this?

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

131-92,

Here's the deal. Back in 2006-2007 Dwight Howard and Yao Ming said that Kwame Brown played them the toughest.

Recently Dwight Howard said Perkins played him the toughest.

Our debate over the past 3 or 4 years goes back to the fact that the Lakers had in Kwame what the Celtics have in Perkins.

The Lakers were too stupid to see it and instead of getting a couple of pieces they instead glorified Luke Walton and gave him 30 million and traded their defensive center for fool's gold in Gasol.

I still can't get over the idiotic logic of that whole scenario.

Lakers' fans make the bet to finally end this debate once and for all.

Then we can be a united family once again.

mike t.

Mike T...

I'm not making any silly bets. Can't you just admit that Kwame was a one dimensional ballplayer? Put Kwame in Pau's place now and the Lakers would have "gone fishin'" a long time ago.

jon k,

I'm not asking for a punk a*s explanation.

Just make the bet or hush the lip.

It's that simple.

You got a lot of nerve to make a suggested bet but with no stake at your end.

Now I made the stake.

Take the bet or SH*T UP!

mike t.

@131-92, ok both our teams held up their ends of the bargain. Now may I say to you 131, whatever the outcome of the finals I hope we can continue to reamain friendly and not let our enthusiams for our teams make us descend into name calling. I respect your team and believe Rondo will be a Star in this League for a long time to come. I respect the accomplishments your team did in defeating Dwade and Princess Jimmy. I respect your opinions on Basketball - even though at times I may disagree. So that being said let us have a friendly competition and may the best Team Win. I wish your team Good Health and to make a good showing in the 4 Game sweep they are about to experience. Take care 131.

To be honest Red, I'm not sure this means anything (which I'm pretty sure is how you feel in reality). If you think the ESPN analysts are totally worthless except as reverse barometers (Jon K's position i think), then the Lakers are clearly in trouble. However if you think these "experts," have some knowledge, then the Lakers seem to be in good shape.

I personally would be much happier if Hollinger had picked the Celts. Oh well.

For every fan of the Mamba, another gem from the Washington Post's Mike Wise:

http://bit.ly/dveEwo

Wise penetrates what we can't even imagine as Lakers' fans: what it must be like to be on the other side of the Kobe equation. He is the cold blooded Assassin who comes into our enemies' hometown arena, to murder the dreams and aspirations of their team.

Michael Jordan was the NBA's White Knight, whose glorious journey put the sport on the map. Kobe Bryant is its Dark Knight, who takes wonderment to its most breathtaking and leaves us gasping while moaning for more. Kobe Bryant. Laker. Greatest of All Time. Ever!

Michael C. Teniente,

"Celtics win you admit I'm right and if I say we need
Kwame you say: mike t. knows best."

Okay. I'm willing to make a bet, Mike.

But I can't honestly say that you were "right" because there's no way we'd be in the Finals if we still had Kwame and didn't have Gasol.

And I have no idea why you are focused on defense the way you are. We are a MUCH better overall defensive team now than when we had Kwame and Smush. Can't you see that? Look at the numbers.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

I personally would be much happier if Hollinger had picked the Celts. Oh well.

Mamba-

Im good with you. You said the Celtics would beat Cleveland and Orlando before the series. You call your shot and if you are wrong ... you are wrong. Its the guys that been talkn mess and wrong for 9 months and now want an apology IF the Lakers win. I know you dont agree with me at times but youve always been respectful and Ive tried to do the same in return. Thats what its all about. I understand you love your Lakers and will root for them and well you should.

Silly bets, no logic, no discourse. You're in fine form, Mike. I give up.

Mike T, a few comments you made in the blog before the 2007-2008 season...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Could Kobe Bryant's behavior in the Colorado incident be influenced by the role model behavior of Jerry Buss? Could Magic Johnson's HIV be traced back to the role model behavior of Jerry Buss?

mike

Posted by: Michael Teniente | July 01, 2007 at 06:57 PM

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kobe Bryant called Jerry Buss an idiot. And what does Jerry do? He resigns Luke Walton for 30 million.

Dr. Jerry "the drunk/dope fein" Buss signed Luke Walton because he could. Like his "playboy" daughter said: No one tell my dad what to do.

Gee, Jerry great way to prove that point. You will sell this team you dumb MFer. Because like Kobe said: You're an idiot!

mike

Posted by: Michael C. Teniente | July 01, 2007 at 06:05 PM

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah Luke Walton is a key to the triangle. Except for that the Lakers don't run the triangle. They run the Kobe. And without the Kobe the triangle is obsolete.

A field day all next year. LOL!

Predictions: The Lakers don't come away with a 500 season.

Hey want's up with the leadership in Los Angeles? The Lakers are a Los Angeles institution and it's in the hands of what is basically a child molester. The business community needs to get the Lakers out of this guys hands. This guy is caught with a 23 year old, while drunk and drug driving and the NBA says nothing? The NFL and almost every other sport is coming down on the behavior of their players but here we have a owner who's basically a child molester. And the leadership in Los Angeles and the NBA celebrates this guy?

You are nothing but someone who wants to show you're a rebel, and gain name out of it.
