It was the difference between this being a 4 game series and a 6 gamer.

Close out in PHX

Hopefully I'm wrong and they find some heart in game 4.

And oh yeah, LO & Ron Ron hit a few of those threes and we win.... get out there 2-3 hrs before the game and get into the rhythm.

No, No, No. Close out at home Tim. It's all aboout the Benjamins. Dr. Buss got to make some money to pay the Luxury tax. But it's all good. Farmar got more playing time and it looks like Phil will trust him in the Finals.Fisher had two good games in a row. And we played a good tight game. we will need that experience when we play Boston. Plus Boston will have to sit around and wait for us.Meanwhile Kobe can knock more rust off. As I see it, I would have liked a Sweep, but this way is better. A real game 5 is better than a practice game.
Mamba24

SO WHAT!
I saw Lakers wouldn’t, I knew Suns would, but that does not mean it’s not all good
A sweep would have just made us more cocky, instead of realizing we’re not “Rocky”
The playoffs not a movie, it’s a hard @zz game, We won’t win the Title just because of our name
Sure they’re the Lakers & they’re all that, But there will be times, when they do fall flat
Some good things did come from the game last night, Farmer & Dfish put up a fight
Kobe’s stroke is coming back, playing well against the Zone, is what the Lakers lack
It’s been the same for all Lakers teams, I don’t understand it, makes u wanna scream
They go over it in practice & have it down, Get out on the floor & flounder around.
But does anyone in their right mind, Believe the Suns will win 3 of 4 this time
We got this and we want more, We’ll beat the Suns and Boston for sure.
Just one more game we got to see, before the season is over & It’ll be woe is me
So enjoy the drama and enjoy the game, the outcome for Lakers will be the same
We will win title # 16 and that’s all we play for, We play for the Ring

Its time for Lakers to breakout their zone offense.

32 3-pt attempts is terrible and lazy.

Lakers outshoot Suns .483 vs .463 on 2's and .281 vs .250 on 3's and win rebounds 41-40.

Lakers lose in turnovers 17-7 and steals 10-4.

Suns FT's 37-42, whew!

Hard to win any game when the other team makes 37 FT's, has 10 fewer turnovers and 6 more steals.

Game 4: take care of the ball, cut down on 3's, drive.

Seems the Suns are going to dare the Lakers to beat them from outside.
What else is new?

Don't forget both Bynum and LO had two fouls after the first quarter. When 2 of your Bigs are in foul trouble that early, it's kind of hard to carry out your game plan.

Why is it that they always seem to work it out so that all possible games are played? Could it be market share?

I know, how cynical... but still....

know, how cynical... but still....Posted by: Is this rigged? | May 24, 2010 at 07:35 AM

SHOCKED, I tell you I'm shocked to hear such a thing suggested. LMAO!
Mamba24

OK ....

Would anyone like to quote on Bynum playing 8 minutes?

Would anyone like to quote on Bynum picking up 1 foul every 2 minutes?

Would any of the spanish contingent like to comment on Kobe having as
many rebounds as Pau Gasol?

I had expected PHX's best punch this game. I had expected a fall off in the
shooting of LO & Artest. Lakers in 5 still works nicely. I wish PJ had given
DJ Mbenga more playing time. Given Bynum's penchant for fouls it would
be nice to have another big body who could play.

Oh well.

So, the Cavs have fired Mike Brown. Last season's "Coach of the Year" walks the gangplank because the team's superstar choked when it mattered most. I'd like to see what he can do for an organization that wants to build a team instead of one that only gets other guys to burn minutes surrounding a single player.

Given Bynum's penchant for fouls it would be nice to have another big body who could play. Posted by: hobbitmage | May 24, 2010 at 07:46 AM

In that case I guess it was just a coincidence that LO was in foul trouble at the same time as Bynum which enabled "Superstar Amare" to score all those points. Come on Hobbit, you could have scored 50 if two of the opponents big guys were hit with fouls right away so that they were taken completely out of the game. A refs help does not have to be overt such as an advantage of free throws for one team over another. A strategic foul call will do just as well and won't show up as much in the box scores.

The best way to break the effectiveness of the zone defense is the triangle. When I say triangle, the outside shooters connect their shot not brink it. Who are the Lakers good in post ups and penetration lay ups i.e kobe, gasol and lo as well drew if he's playing. These players contract the zone in the post if they survive in holding the ball and pass it to the open man in the perimeter. What we lacked yesterday were marksmanship in the perimeter. How many times did they miss those shots that turned into Suns going into easy transition offense. Secondly, nobody can stop Amare on one on one, there has to be a help defense in blindside double teaming when he goes to the basket. Fisher is good on this, as well as Kobe or Shannon, these are the small players who would grab the ball from a taller player when ball is down. Lastlly, Nash is the point man, it means there is a p & r lurking around. Anticipate those passes before it is executed not after it was received. I believe I just said something contradictory statement there. Anticipation is always "before" not after, well I'm just interpreting how Lakers play the p & r.

Don't worry Laker fans, with enough faith and also prayers i.e. that's important in passion and fandom because it transmits inexplicable energy on Odom, Bynum, Artest and Fisher, Lakers will get Games 4 & 5.

For two consecutive games now, Sasha and Luke did not play, not even for cameo minutes of three minutes each offering a breather to Kobe and Gasol. That is the fallacy we have in this blog. We always expect these two players to be in high gear at all times. If only they have a "hybrid" organs that can be run by batteries, perhaps they're apt for miracles in every game.

Good Morning Edwin, No disrespect but if the Freakin World Champion Lakers need Faith & Prayers to win Games 4 & 5 then they are in bigger trouble than I thought!
Mamba24

MIKE BROWN FIRED? WTF! Oh the Humanity!

Come out, Come out laker bloggers. The waters fine. The worlds not about to end.

hobbitimage,

>>> ... Kobe having as many rebounds as Pau Gasol?

I can't blame Gasol. His effectiveness is somewhat dependent on what the other bigs do. When neither Bynum nor Odom are on the floor being effective, all the attention and pressure is naturally directed at Gasol. The Spaniard didn't have a chance on Sunday. Take a look at the 4th quarter. Gasol was completely worn down by then because all game long, he had to carry the load for all the Laker bigs, instead of having the burden spread out as it's designed to be.

I don't like the idea of benching Bynum for the rest of the Suns series. If we wear out Pau before the Finals, and make Kobe play another entire 2nd half with no rest, their legs will be gone before the ultimate showdown begins.

Everybody has to carry their share of the load starting Tuesday. If they all had on Sunday, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Not worried. Lakers won 8 playoff games in a row. They lose a game on the road to the Suns, a great home team that did, after all, make it to the conference finals and had their backs to the wall.

Lakers did a good job early on weathering the Suns' strong emotional start and actually winning the first quarter. But Amare's agressive game was effective in scoring and (more importantly) in getting the Lakers' bigs in foul trouble. The zone got the Lakers out of rhythm and gave the Confidence. And the game got away.

On to game 4. The Lakers will need a new approach to Amare, crisper offense against the zone (get INSIDE the zone!), and more from Drew and Lamar.

I think this is Suns' only win.

OH SWEET JESUS, TONIGHT IS THE LAST EPISODE OF "24".
DON'T TELL KOBE!

An old cliche' says: "It is hard to teach an old dog with new tricks".

In the case of Bynum, it is hard to teach a stubborn young player avoid getting fouls in the first two quarters.

Don't u think by this time, he already gotten the problem. Someone from the coaching staff has told him how to avoid fouls, how to use his body as a natural defender and avoiding body contacts or by timing his jump and using his long arms to ward off balls coming from smaller players. Well, I call him stubborn because to this day, he has not passed that test yet.

I think this is Suns' only win. Posted by: Tom Daniels | May 24, 2010 at 08:01 AM

I think Rick Friedman is a very smart man also.

I was told to stop trolling on a Suns board. Pretty funny when you're trying to actually discuss a game and you've even complimented their players. Ah well. Should have expected they wouldn't be able to discuss a game with any sort of class.

Not worried, even a little bit. I expected PHX to get some home cooking, and despite how bad we moved the ball and shot, we still scored 108 and it was close 'til the end. To quote someone above, "Lakers in five still works nicely."

GO LAKERS!

I must man up and admit Fish was able to knock down some wide open shots last night. Unfortuately on a couple he was contested on he failed to hit the rim on both. Posted by: DFish | May 24, 2010 at 08:00 AM
*
WTH? HELL NO! Not Dfish giving Fisher a compliment. WTF is going on in the world today? One freakin Laker Loss and the whole world goes crazy. "Lost" last episode last night. "24's" last episode tonight. And now DFish slinging complements at DFish! Mama Mia! oh the humanity!

The only game Amar'e played better was the game when he went for 40 on Big Fundy (in his prime) in the 2005 playoffs (I think). In the "Just Some Dude" category, Lopez hits 80% from the field for about 20. The Suns went to the line 42 times. Bynum, as is his custom, gets into foul trouble on the road. Odom disappears. Our Test goes cold.

And LA was in the game until the last 90 seconds.

I'm disappointed after every Lakers' loss. But if that's what it takes for the Suns to beat LA the rest of the series, so be it. They're 2-5 against the Lakers this season. They'll have to win 3 of the next 4.

On a side note: Shannon Brown played a *horrible* game. He cost them with a couple of critical turnovers and a horrendous foul to end the 3rd. He's a tough kid though, he'll bounce back.

LongTimeLakerLover a Troll? Hell NAW!! Let me at them Longtime!

The Bynum game is intolerable.

Forgot to mention the great ballhandling and passing by the ball wizard Fish. Yes 3 huge assists in 38 minutes...which is actually above his average and only 2 tunrovers. Those stats will probably put in somewhere near the bottom for all time for point guards. Good luck on your quest for a championship with this clown. Posted by: DFish | May 24, 2010 at 08:04 AM

Oh thank God, the real DFish has returned! Thank you Lord!

So I was chillin out drinking an IPA at home on Saturday night. My phone rings and it's my abnoxious, drunk, Celtic fan cousin talking smack like he had already won the championship after his team put another beatdown onto the Magic.

That kind of pissed me off a little bit being the lifelong die-hard Laker fan that I am, so I was hoping that the Lakers would take it personal last night and put a whooping on the Suns just to make a statement. That's is what last nights game should have been, a statement.

Well, a statement was made alright. Unfortunately, it was the Suns who made the statement instead of the Lakers. And that put the nail in the coffin for the time being. The Celtics are now the clear favorites to win the championship this year.

We will beat the Suns, then we will be in a position that we haven't been in since we had Kwame Brown; we'll be the underdogs. While it does not please me that the C's are back on top, I think being the underdog going onto the Finals will probably be a good thing for the Lakers. The Lakers under Phil Jackson have always played their best ball when there is doubt, when they are the underdogs.

Go Lakers!

Los Angeles Lakers = Kobe and Gasol

the rest = PURE GARBAGE.

Boston Celtics = P Pierce, R. Allen, K. Garnett, R. Rondo, R. Wallace, K. Perckins
The rest: Tony Allen, Nate Robinson, Big Baby, M. Daniels.

Seriously, Lakerfans, you think Lakers have any posibility???????

Actually, IF we make the finals (since I don't like to count my chickens before they hatch), there is a possibility of our team winning the championship.

And your use of identity in your posts is misguided. The franchise is much more than just Kobe and Pau; did you forget about John Black or the Buss Family?

You really ought to be more careful when making identity claims.

Hey Mamba,

Last episode of 24, good one Mamba, LOL!!!

Phil lost this game. He sat Bynum down and play Odom 21 straight minutes in the first half. Odom usually comes in at the 6 minute mark of the 1st qtr. Why not put in Mbenga for 3 minutes? He can't hurt you and can at least make it interesting.

ANd why the #$%^& put in Powell for < 1 minute? IS he really that bad that you can't put him in for 3 minites to give LO a rest?

And you give artest a rest by putting Kobe at the small forward and play the kids at the guard positions? How is that supposed to work in the long run? Then when Farmar hits a shot you take him out?

Sure i get it that you hide the inefficiencies of the bench by keeping 2 starters in with them, but can't Walton play for 3 minutes to give Artest a rest? Is he that bad?

Odom picked up the fouls because he was tired and couldn't move his feet, he hung on and fouled to get a rest...play the tape again..

And why play Kobe the entire 2nd half?
What's the result? nobody has the energy to drive to the rim, they take a lot of 3 pointers...Phil you lost this game

No I was trying to be funny, but I'm serious. This is Jack Bauers last tick on the Clock. The plug has been pulled. Though they are going to make a Movie 24 which makes sense. Why work for 250, 000 per episode when you can get paid 20 million for one movie.

Good morning everybody,

Surprisingly, I'm not too upset or surprised by the loss last night. Game 3 is always the toughest game to pull out for the visiting team simply because the home team is playing the 1st game in front of their crowd. I expected them to play with much more energy and aggresiveness on their home floor. I always said this would be a 6 game series but after watching the Suns play their best game last night and be tied or up by just a few points most of the game, I say 5 games now. This will most likely be their only win in this series.

I will say this though...WHAT THE HELL WERE THE LAKERS THINKING TAKING OVER 30 3-POINTERS??...seriously!!! Way too many which explains why we didn't get to the line as much as the Suns did. Had we driven to the hoop on half those 3-point attempts, we could've pulled the win out.

Oh, and what did youall think about Amare's lucky game last night. Dude is insane if he thinks he's gonna drop 40 on us again in this series. Hahahahaha loser!

And your use of identity in your posts is misguided. The franchise is much more than just Kobe and Pau; did you forget about John Black or the Buss Family? You really ought to be more careful when making identity claims. Posted by: Caliphilosopher | May 24, 2010 at 08:20 AM

Thanks man.

And by the way, welcome Ricky. Hope your enjoy your stay in the purple and gold land of the Lakers! I look forward to your in depth analysis, spot on predictions, not to mention your ability to form whole sentences. I know it's hard with your protruding forehead and your knuckles hitting the ground while you walk, but you seem to manage somehow.

But seriously, Boston is playing extremely well. You can't take that away from them. I've watched every game and know why you're proud of your team. I love a true fan. Even a Boston..nope, choked on that one. I just wouldn't count your chickens. Yeah, they'll play great. Yeah, they'll beat us in some of the games. But it doesn't necessarily translate to a championship for your team just because YOU think so. Even if they are playing so well. So - you asked the question "Seriously, Lakerfans, you think Lakers have any posibility???????" And the answer is OF COURSE WE DO YOU GREEN WEENIE!!!!!

That is all.

Good morning CRUE!

Well - that sucked, but not time to panic, people. Sheesh. You'd think WE were the ones down in this series.

Does anyone (besides a troll) really think that the Suns can win 3 out of 4 against us? Really?? If so, you really need to switch your allegiances, cuz you are NOT a real Laker fan. (You're also not a real sane person, but that's another conversation).

Laker Nation - we got this. Seriously. The Suns are dead - they just don't have enough sense to lie down.

GO LAKERS!!

Nothing but another title will suffice - Kobe Bryant

We scored 62 points in the 2nd half?

Against their zone defense?

I guess it didn't cause us to struggle as much as some may like to think. The problem came with jacking up 3's instead of getting it inside. (Well - 1 of the problems...)

Still - if Suns stick to the zone, we will pick them apart next game like a buzzard picking apart a carcass.

Does anyone really think The Show won't make the appropriate adjustments and win Game 4? Really? I can't believe the Lakers will let a very close win by the Suns in 1 game to defeat them mentally for the rest of the series. Our guys are in it to win it. Period. The only question is how bad are the Suns going to get beaten by in the next game? And the one after that? We have a date with destiny people - and the Suns are not in that equation.

my response: You've mistaken the point of my post or maybe you chose to
ignore it.

I have clearly stated and re-stated that Pau is a great PF, but only a good
C. We have talked about the benefits of having a "big" Center. We have
talked about the pros and cons of defense over offense.

We have a large center on the bench who's name is DJ Mbenga. He's better
on defense than on offense. I have wanted him to get more playing time for
two years now.

Does that clarify things?

Rick Friedman,

you wrote: I can't blame Gasol. His effectiveness is somewhat dependent on what the other bigs do. my response:

Benching Bynum without the surgery is useless. I would have been in favor
of giving DJ Mbenga more playing time throughout the season. he's big.
He plays good to great defense. He would have protected Pau and allowed
Pau to play PF.

In my earler response to KB Blitz, I had mentioned that Bynum is being
protected by management, coach & players and it has affected his
maturity. By the same token, the refusal to use DJ Mbenga has retarded his
growth as a player and *NOW* when we could really use him ... he's ill-
prepared for the job.

Think carefully about how many games, this season, that Bynum has given
a lackluster effort for *WHATEVER* reason you want to furnish. If we had
played DJ Mbenga a total of 5 minutes per game in each of those instances ...
would DJ Mbenga be a better player right now?

Before you discount DJ Mbenga, go back to last year's NBA finals and you'll
find that in game 3 or game 4 ... there was a 2nd quarter when Pau, LO &
Bynum were all in foul trouble. We fielded Mbenga, Powell, Kobe, Ariza &
UPS or Farmar and we didn't crumple. We held the line.

DJ Mbenga is actually our most athletic C. He's also our strongest C. He's
also the least talented C. He's also the most focused on defense. I would
have preferred that he received more playing time.

Does that make sense?

Look, I was hoping, as well as all of the Laker Nation, for a Sweep. But hey, the Suns came out with some heart. What do expect... we're the ALL MIGHTY WEST BABY!!!! Our teams have PASSION and PRIDE unlike most of the WEAK EAST teams... we won't mention any names, right Orlando, Cleveland, Milwuakee & Atlanta?

Celtic Fans, don't get your panties wet just yet... who the hell have the Celtic's beaten so far? All of them essentially "One-Man" teams like the Lebron-aliers and now the Orlando Howard... you know damn well the Lakers are not just a "One-Man" team, although we do have "THE MAN". Keep up the DREAM that this "one" loss means you can beat us in the Finals... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The Lakers under Phil Jackson have always played their best ball when there is doubt, when they are the underdogs.
(03) LONGTIMELAKERLOVER- RIDING SHOTGUN - Not worried, even a little bit. I expected PHX to get some home cooking, and despite how bad we moved the ball and shot, we still scored 108 and it was close 'til the end. To quote someone above, "Lakers in five still works nicely."
(04)
(05)PEACE - SECURITY - I'm disappointed after every Lakers' loss. But if that's what it takes for the Suns to beat LA the rest of the series, so be it. They're 2-5 against the Lakers this season. They'll have to win 3 of the next 4.
(06) MAMBA24 - REPLAY OFFICIAL - If they aren't that upset I guess I'm not either
(07) CALIPHILOSOPHER - REFEREE - Actually, IF we make the finals (since I don't like to count my chickens before they hatch), there is a possibility of our team winning the championship.
(08)TOM DANIELS - DIRECTOR OF TUESDAY WIN # 3 - Not worried. And the game got away.I think this is Suns' only win.
(09) ART-FL LAKER FAN - Director Win # 4 Thursday - Game 4: take care of the ball, cut down on 3's, drive. Seems the Suns are going to dare the Lakers to beat them from outside.
What else is new?
(10)HOBBITMAGE - BYNUMS BIGGEST FAN - had expected PHX's best punch this game. I had expected a fall off in the shooting of LO & Artest. Lakers in 5 still works nicely. I wish PJ had given DJ Mbenga more playing time. Given Bynum's penchant for fouls it would be nice to have another big body who could play. Oh well.
(11) TIM-4-SHOW - It was the difference between this being a 4 game series and a 6 gamer.Close out in PHX Hopefully I'm wrong and they find some heart in game 4.
(12)JUSTANOTHERMAMBAFAN - KOBES DUNK COACH - Does anyone really think The Show won't make the appropriate adjustments and win Game 4? We have a date with destiny people - and the Suns are not in that equation.
(13) HALOSANT - TROLL SLAYER - Look, I was hoping, as well as all of the Laker Nation, for a Sweep.

Hey Mamba24, please add me to the "NOT UPSET AT ALL ABOUT 1 LOSS TO SUNS BANDWAGON"

Ouchhhhhhhh, in Spain to guys like you call them "rabble." What what mob? It is very easy:
Kobe 36 pts, 9rb, 11 as.
Pau Gasol 23 pts (11, 14, 78%), 9rb, 2 asis
Bynum 2pts, 2 rb, 0 asit.
Odom 10 pts, 6 rb, 2 asist
Fischer 18 pts, 5 rb, 3 asist
Artest 12, 6, 0
As you will see either the men in the painting Bynum and Odom have played beautifully and the party has lost because Gasol is soft, only scored 78% of their lanazamientos, wretched has caught nine rebounds, and has two assists)
While the Beast Bynum has made two huge points and two rebounds wonderful. Odom has played a fable and has managed 10 points and up to six magnificent glorious rebounds.

The lack of a father and his mother's upbringing have hurt him somewhat cavalier

Justa, just being protective of Pau. Apparently Ouchhhh called him soft and he took offense to it. Says that people call Bynum and Odom the "big men" but look at their numbers compared to the "soft" Pau.

Saying something like "the flatulence of the matter is all in the perception of the anal ability to justify the expulsion of the aerated materials, my bro-tha..." etc etc - Hilarious stuff - no meaning! (01) EASTCOASTJESSIE - OWNER - Surprisingly, I'm not too upset or surprised by the loss last night.

Hey Escarpia, escribes fenomenalmente bien español. Felicidades. Totalmente de acuerdo con tus comentarios.

The big Laker problem is Dept. Lakers have only 2 players, the rest is really pure garbage. Against Celtics in the Finals, Lakers have any possibility. Kobe and Pau vs. Pierce, Ronde, Allen, Garnet and Perckins (plus Tony Allen, Big Baby and Rasheed Wallace)

You can see this matchups:

Rondo - D Fish = RONDO
Allen - Bryant = BRYANT
Pierce - Artest = PIERCE
Garnet - Pau = I dont Know.
Perckins - Bynum = PERCKINS

Lakers only won clearly 1 matchup (Bryant)

Now, the bech matchups

Odom - Rasheed = RASHEED
Brown - Tony Allen= ALLEN
Mbenga - Big Baby = BIG BABY (Mbenga is not a real player)
Daniels - Powell = Powell (i dont know really)
Robinson - Farmar = The same garbage

Guys, sorry, i´m a true laker fan, but i think Lakers have any possibility against Celtics. Lakers have no dept. ONLY A 2 PLAYERS TEAM

Trust me guys, LAKERS have only 2 players. Today Pau battle against 2 bigs (Lopez and Stoudemire) b/c Bynum and Odom fault trouble. Against Celtics, Pau should battle against 4 bigs (Wallace, Garnett, Big Baby and Perckins) I think Pau have any possibilty b/c Bynum is not a real help and Odom, well, Odom is what he is.

Laker fan-

Get used to watching Fish, Dribble Dribble, LOL, Brown, and Farmer launching 3s.

Watch and learn tonite!

Guys, sorry, i´m a true laker fan, but i think Lakers have any possibility against Celtics. Lakers have no dept. ONLY A 2 PLAYERS TEAM

TWO SEASON TICKETS TO ANYONE WHO CAN EXPLAIN WHAT THE HELL THIS IS SAYING.

MATCHUPS LAKERS VS. CELTICS

Kobe Bryant vs. Ray Allen
Pau Gasol vs. Garnett, Perckins, Big Baby and Wallace (no possible for Pau)
Paul Pierce vs Artest. Pierce is a superstar, Artest only a role defensive player.
Rondo vs Fish: That is not a real matchup. Is a "masacre"
Perckins vs Bynum: Bynum cant play. Is injured, again.

Sorry, guys, but Lakers cant win. Pau and Kobe should score 40 pts. each other every game.

Man, Andrew Bynum only 2 points, only TWOOOOO POIINTS............????????????????????????????

Why do so many people think the Raptors will trade Bosh for Bynum? It is about the dumbest thing I've ever read. Check that - the lakers sweeping the CELTICS this year is the dumbest thing I've ever read. The Bosh-Bynun thing checks in at #2. If Colangelo did this, he should be fired!! Bosh will take a pay cut to come to LA? Or, Toronto will take Walton or Sasha in a trade to make the salaries work? Walton or Sasha? What have you guys been smoking?? Your window is closing fast, you have NO first round pick, and just with koME, Gasol and Bynum you are over the cap!!

Bosh ain't coming, MeBron ain't coming, and CP3 ain't coming!! Deal with it!

ROFLMFAO!!! OH SWEET JESUS, THAT'S SOME FUNNY SHIZZLE!
Sounds to me like you're scared witless. Relax Giant, it won't hurt much. We will take those 4 games from the Celtics as painlessly as possible and to show what nice guys the Lakers are they might let the Celtics hold the trophy. HAHAHAHHAHA!! Now stand tall man. Be proud of your team. Sure they are going to lose, but once upon a time they were relevent to the discussion. See you next week. Of course the week after it will all be over since we are going to SWEEP. The Celtics beat the Lakers? ROFLMAO! Please, please, oh my god that is so funny.

Truly Ricky, it's good to see you're not biased.

Mamba - if you sweep, I will never post here again. Sweep, right? Four in a row? 2 in LA and then 2 in Bos? You said sweep, right? Well, we ain't Utah!!

And, no I'm not worried. If we lose, okay, no one ever thought we'd make it any way. But Bynum for Bosh? Really? Straight up? No other players involved? You ARE kidding, right?

If Amare decides to play with that kind of aggression, there is no one in a purple and yellow uniform who can stop Him.

One thing which is perhaps more encouraging than the SUNS' gritty performance (Nash is the toughest playa the NBA has these days) is the way in which LA tends to come apart at the seams when a loss exposes the delicate balance of egos.

Phil Jackson can corral his playas up to a point; I'm still not convinced that Artest has let go of his past habits. It was only last season he was ejected twice in the HOU-LA series.

Both PHX and LA start 22-year-olds at center.

Whereas LA's big costs millions and has little impact in last night's game, PHX's bargain big dominates inside and shows an array of polished post moves and tough defense.

I'd say Steve Kerr is looking pretty good right now.

Ricky,

>>>Los Angeles Lakers = Kobe and Gasol
>>>the rest = PURE GARBAGE.
>>>
>>>Boston Celtics = P Pierce, R. Allen, K. Garnett, R. Rondo, R. Wallace, K. Perckins
>>>The rest: Tony Allen, Nate Robinson, Big Baby, M. Daniels.

First I have to say that it amused me more than it should have to see back to back posts from Rocky & Ricky. I thought about posting this as Racky.

Ricky, are you seriously comparing Nate Robinson and Marquis Daniels to Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, Derek Fisher, Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown?

NOT
EVEN
CLOSE

Fat Baby Davis and Sheed and Tony Allen are decent role players and contribute something, much as Shannon and Jordan and Lamar do.

But Nate Robinson and Marquis Daniels are less significant than Powell and MBenga, and for you to say they are better than most of the Lakers role players show how completely ignorant you are of the game of basketball. Why don't you go settle in on the Boston blog, since you seem to be snuggling up to their jock strap. I'm sure you'll have a great time there until the Lakers give them a smack down in the finals.

It's time for another episode of...

Jon K.'s Early Thoughts That He Has Not Put Too Much Thought Into Yet!

1. Does Mark Medina sleep?

2. I am learning to dislike chicken littles even more than (most) trolls. With trolls, you know what you get. With chicken littles, they claim to be (and seem to actually believe they are) real fans. They just don't get it.

3. It was so busy last night we should have had three bartenders. We had me. As a result, I could barely even keep track of the game. So, I will not be able to provide much pseudo-expert analysis.

4. I hate losing.

5. 22 more freethrows? Really? I know home court gets the calls, but the Lakers NEVER get 22 more freethrows in a game! NEVER! (Well, maybe against the Kings once in the playoffs, but that's it.)

6. I can somehow live with losing by 9 when the opposing team has 22 more freethrows.

7. I'm worried about Andrew Bynum... a lot.

8. I was impressed by Kobe and Phil's maturity and calmness during their interviews. They are not panicking... at all.

9. I originally picked the Lakers to win in six. I think that the Celtics' success and our domination in the first two games took my mind out of reality and I began to be affected by my fellow Lakeraholics' enthusiam and I assumed sweep. Now, back to reality.

10. How the heck did Stoudemire score 42 points? Really?

11. Onto the next game!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

Lakers rule!

Celtics suck!

Long time-
Robinson and Daniels are not in the rotation. Odom is basically a starter for you and he is definitely a matchup nightmare for the Celtics. But Brown and Farmar have not done nearly as much in the post-season as Tony Allen Rasheed Wallace and "Fat" Baby Davis (I actually like that!!). Boston's bench has outplayed each of their opponents bench so far. Counting Odom, you have a great 6, decent 8. The Celtics have a very, very good 8. It should be a great series, but anyone who thinks it will be a sweep is blinded by their loyalty to one team. Either that or has no knowledge of the game. I'm thinking Mamba24 is Option 1!!

Isn't it time for another LA Times writer or bynumb to announce that the series with BOS is already underway?

Celtics starting 5 is much better than Lakers.

Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett and Perkins is better than Fish, Bryant, Odom, Gasol, Bynum. You can see than Bynum cant play b/c injury and Rondo - Fish matchup will be a "total masacre". Lakers only won Bryant-Allen matchup, the rest is celtic. Also, the Celtic´s bench is more depth than Lakers bench (Tony Allen, Wallace, Big Baby is better than Farmar, Brown and Mbenga (pleeaaasseeee).

Sorry, but i think Celtics have more depth (8-9 players ready for action and Lakers only 4 (not count Bynum). We have the same situation 2 years early. Celtics favorites for sure. You Know i´m a Pau Gasol fan, but Pau cant win his matchups (Garnett, Perkins, Wallace and Davis- -buffffff) Impossible for Pau.

In this WCF, Pau GAsol should guard everybody (Lopez, Stoudemire) and vs. Celtics will be the same situation (Garnett, Perkins, Wallace and Davis). Pau´s Nightmares for sure. I´m Laker fan for longtime, but Lakers cant win vs. Celtics b/c Celtics Depth. Lakers only have 2 players, Celtics 5-6 players.

Kobe vs Allen = KOBE ALL DAY
Pau Vs. everybody (Garnett, Perkins, Wallace and Davis) Sometimes Pau, sometimes others.
Fish vs Rondo= I THINK RONDO
Odom vs. Garnet = GARNETT
Bynum = If he can play, Perkins and Bynum will be a interesting matchup

The lakers bench vs. Celtics bench = CELTICS

Sorry Guys, but Celtics in 6.

Celtics complete sweep tonight and start resting up for LA/PHO. It would be far more enjoyable to slap LA around but if Los Suns want the beating, well, it is what it is.

I'd say the SUNS match up better with BOS than LA does.

Why? PHX has more favorable individual matchups such as Nash vs Rondo, and Stat vs KG. Hill can guard Pierce and JRich is Allen's equal. Lopez can play Perkins just fine.

Sheed would destroy gasal, however. And Pierce is better than coby in head to head matchups.

Anybody else not not watching the Orlando/celtics game tonight? I can't stand to watch Orlando.. a team that in a win or die game, get 3 offensive rebounds. Even PHX had 10 ...

Celtics are good, but watch who is there to rebound Dwight's shots...just a wall of celtics. Are the lakers watching this?

Kobe is playing Rondo guys
Fish vs Allen= Celtics + 5 ppg
Pau Vs. Garnett = LAkers + 5 ppg
Bynum Vs Perkins = draw
Odom vs. Sheed = LAkers + 5 rpg, + 5 ppg
Artest vs Piece = key to game

The lakers bench vs. Celtics bench = ??
Big baby is good, so is tony allen. If young guns hit some shots, and others contribute rebounds, hustle and toughness, Lakers win.

Too close to all right now. Celtics do not score a lot of point though. If a body stays on Allen and Pierce to limit their streaks, then Lakers s/b in a position to win each game. Anybody betting against Kobe and his revenge factor is nuts (even celtics fans)

>>>You Know i´m a Pau Gasol fan, but Pau cant win his matchups (Garnett,
>>>Perkins, Wallace and Davis- -buffffff)

How little faith you have.

Maybe nobody has told you this before, but you know that Boston can only play 5 players at a time, right? They can't have Garnett/Perkins/Wallace/Davis guard Pau, as that would only leave one player to guard the other four Lakers.

Pau only has to beat one Celtic at a time, for the most part. They single-teamed Dwight Howard, they'll start out single-teaming Pau as well. And Pau will own either Garnett or Perkins (whoever they decide to throw at him first).

If they start double teaming Pau, then that will leave some other Laker unguarded (probably Fish or Artest).

So some new rules for you to learn if you want to be a fan of the NBA (not sure how they do things in Euroleague): Only 5 players on the floor at once.

Got it?

good.

Here's a Scooby-snack.
