We have to play Lucky Lakers basketball, Okay!

Lakers will definately go 1-1 in the road and finish it up at staples. 1 more game at staples = more revenue for the team, thats just my opinion.

Also I think we'll see Luke back in the series, just for a few minutes to settle the team up by running the offense. I see Vujacic play for defensive key moments as well. I don't think Mbenga will play unless its a blowout. I think this will happen in Phoenix.

Win game 3 and that 1 and 1 goes into question.

It's all about Game 3. Win it, you crush their will and end the series... lose it, give them hope, and have to dig deeper for the game 4 victory.

I saw squash 'em.

No Mercy.

The Celtics 24 fouls = at least 48 free throws.

Pau Gasol's Playoff FT% = .789

.789 x 48 = 37.9 points or 38 points.

38 points and foul trouble for boston's bigs? Putting Pau on the Free Throw line is a REAL compelling argument, LOL....

Having to resort to fouls also concedes that Pau can't be stopped with normal defense. Quite a fatal view of one's team.

I keep trying to figure who on the Celts is a bruiser, other than Perkins, perhaps Davis? Certainly Rondo and RAllen aren't. I don't see where KG is much, if any, tougher than Pau. I would take Ron's bulk over Peirce. Kobe and Fisher will give better than the get. Just not getting this deal where the Lakers need to fear the Celts style of play. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised when the Lakers made the 08 Finals. So if we meet Boston in the Finals, I just can't see phsyical play making the difference.

Yellofever,

"have no fear (against Boston) ron ron is here.. No more luke and weakass defenders on their top scorer paula"

Good points. Ron is the biggest improvement this year from 2008. We went from Vlad / Luke to Artest. Just think about that. That's like upgrading from Chris Mihm to Dikembe Mutumbo, or from Slava Medvedenko to Dennis Rodman. The Lakers lost in 2008 because they basically got bullied. That's not happening again.

IMO, the Suns will come back strong at home. For some reason, fastbreaking teams get that extra energy and get up and go from being home. Same with 3 point shooters.
-
Even though I'm guilty of looking ahead, it would be wrong to assume this series is over until it actually is. The Suns, for all that we see they lack, have Nash, Hill, and Richardson who are good players with decent careers that have suffered the pain of losing, like the 2005 Pistons and the 2008 Celtics.
-
They will fight like wounded animals protecting their young. More accurately, they are good players on with a history of bad teams protecting their own egos. Don't underestimate that.

poo,

The team is running on all cylinders, and have won 8 straight. Why mess with a good thing by bringing back Luke? There's no reason for the Lakers to give any added confidence to their opponent.

Mamba-

Whos side are you on? You were doing so well these past 2 weeks!

Kobe @ 1:10 - i don't see anything with having a New York accent and be Lakers fan

answer: thank you my friend, muchas gracias.
A great 2 - way Jab @ Nash/Arizona regarding the NY accent and accent in general and the response in Spanish
----------

Kobe @ 3:50 - i'm old, what do u expect
Kobe @ 5:50 -
Q: with Robin (Lopez) back in the lineup does it change how you attack the basket knowing that there is a 7' there?
A: (Kobe) - No (Lopez is a SCRUB - my comment)

Kobe @ end, re:LO; - very "fortunate" (Lucky) to have him

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

after being hackled with the most stupid and inane questions for the past 2 months, and even now continuing with article like Plashy and Simmers and reminders of tanking the Game in Phoenix in 2006/2007 Kobe started to have a total indifferent but tactful approach to his press conferences. IRREVERENT and laconic in his de-construction of all the myths and old and new off target points of the press.

it's like watching Pete Sampras in his prime:

Ace
Serve and Volley
Ace
Passing shot - if necessary

don't feel guilty. ESPN, Yahoo and the rest of the national press r looking forward to Lakers - Celtics final. at least it's clear that the Lakers beating the Suns is just a schedule formality regardless if it's happening in 7,6,5 or a SWEEP.

the local press, LA/Phoenix has to play it more cool and take the games 1 at a time.

if you watched the TNT post game show, they were all REACHING to find ways for the Suns to play better, almost the IDEAL game to beat the Lakers. they were deflated already: Miller and especially Barf-ley.

my response:

This whole thing started/happened because Pau was playing C vs. playing
PF. Pau is a highly skilled pf. He's a good C. He wasn't used to the physical
style of play and he didn't dominate they way he had in the west. i.e. His
offensive numbers were off by ~ 6 pts per game. He also wasn't blocking
a lot of shots, if I recall.

The bruisers were/are KG, Perkins & Davis. This year, the bruisers are
KG, Wallace, Perkins & Davis.

What nobody talks about is how Pierce outplayed Vlad.

Let's be clear about this. We can't win if our C/PF's are timid and play like
sissies. Why? They are the foundation of our defense and are necessary for
inside-outside basketball offense.

Mike T raves about Kwame's calves because he's focused more on strength
vs. skill. Gasol's lack of strength will mean that he's out of position and
being out of position will stop our offense and open Boston's offense.

*I* believe that Pau has become stronger & better. *I* believe that Phil will
have a good/great plan for combating the defensive scheme of Boston. *I*
believe that we've been better the last two years due to the removal of the
"Space Cadet" that is/was Vladamir, the play of Ariza and the acquisition of
Artest. However, *I* don't get to play the game. So ...

We wait and see.

Pau 2008 - first season past the first round.

Pau 2010 - third season in the finals (assuming we make it), 1 for 2 in the finals previous.

You can learn alot about yourself in those 2 years intervening. Being able to say you're a champion also make you less vulnerable mentally.

Hilton

BK is another run of the mill diehard kobehating journalist.. he will do anything to diminish kobes contributions..

Let him bask in the moment but let it be noted pau's last game is coming against one of the worst defensive teams in the league if not THE worst.. Amare hates contact and hates playin D... Pau thrives under these situations.. against weak non physical teams..

Boston will be a TRUE test of his mettle.. His laker legacy may be defined in this nxt series.. Boston will throw everythin they have at him and rough him up every chance they get.. Off the ball hard shoves and dirty hard fouls to rattle him.. If pau steps up here let no one ever call him gasoft ever again.

If getting his knee drained doesn`t cause Kobe to suffer from dehydration...chasing Rondo around all night on defense, with that 32 year old body, might also do the trick!

Just to be accurate, Kobe Bryant is 31.

My favorite quote from the half-time TNT locker room peeks:

Gentry: "We're going to go down like we always do, okay?" That was awesome. It reminded me of something the Little Lieutenant might say. Combine that with his "laying wood" comments and you've got something straight out of a prison movie. Oh, whoops. That probably cuts a little close to home for the Little Lieutenant.

Go Lake Show!

RED'S LOVE CHILD,

"If getting his knee drained doesn`t cause Kobe to suffer from dehydration...chasing Rondo around all night on defense, with that 32 year old body, might also do the trick!"

Dude, come to the Light. You've been rooting for the Dark Side of the Force for WAAAAAYYYYY too long. Didn't you see what that did to Anahkin Skywalker? Come on, man. There's still time.

By the way, when you are dealing with Kobe Bryant, you are dealing with a force of nature. He doesn't get tired. He breaks the will of those who oppose him.

Remember, Kobe Bryant does not breathe. He holds air hostage.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

GO LAKERS!!!

RLC,
Kobe won't be on Rondo all the time. He'll share that pleasure with Fish, Ron-Ron, Shannon, and Farmar. That's 25 hard fouls to give. Let's see how the "physical" Celts deal with that. How's his free throw % been in the playoffs, anyway?

Remember, Kobe Bryant does not sleep. He waits.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Remember, Kobe Bryant solo once beat China in a basketball game... ALL of China simultaneously in a basketball game. The score? 174-0.

When we win this Championship this year, I think it pretty much cements the eventual retiring of Pau's jersey.

Kobe did just fine against Russel Westbrook two injuries ago. Not worried!

Play of the night? Dudley squashing coby's showboating by picking his pocket. Keep practicing that crossover bryant..

Good overall game from LA. The entire team is hitting everything.. no one can beat LA when they shoot that well.

Amare's played so poorly, that I have to assume his heart and mind are elsewhere. His effort isn't close to what it has been for months, so something tells me there's an underlying reason. I tend to think it's because he saw his mom handcuffed and hauled off on a busy scottsdale street a few days ago. The cops told Amare he had to leave the scene since mom was screaming his name over and over..like something out of a tupac song. Amare's got to be thinking he can't escape the turbulence no matter how successful he is.

Anyway, I hope he actually gets it together and competes in this series. It'd make it more interesting at least.

Remember, If paper beats rock, rock beats scissors, and scissors beats paper, what beats all 3 at the same time? Answer: Kobe Bryant.

Bruzer-

LOL ... Dribble-Dribble guarding Rondo? LMAO. If you consider staying in front of someone for 1/100 of a second as guarding someone. I think Fisher might be able to stay in front of Rondo for like 1/10 of a second. I believe thats like 10x longer.

BTW ... Fish, Dribble-Dribble, Shannon and Farmer ... Thats 4 guys @ 6 fouls each = 24.

Jon K,

Rock, paper, scissors, very good! Correct, by the way!

Not to change the subject, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Cleveland Blog talking alot about why LBJ should do a sign & trade to go to the Lakers. Just thought that was very interesting if nothing else.

Naw, if you want your jersey retired at Staples, you must make the hall of fame. This is why #21 is still available and why #16 will likely be so.

Likely, but if you believe we go on a monster run of say 3+ titles, then Pau's credentials will go way up. If his career ended today, no HOF - if it ends in 5 yrs and one of his hands is full of jewlry, then yep.

To contrast, if you want your jersey hung in Portland, just win a single title. I swear the whole 77 Blazer team is retired even though only 1 HOFer on that squad.

Remember, Aliens do exist. They're just waiting for Kobe Bryant to die before they attack.

mamba24,

New York-ers, culture lovers and Shaq?????????????

there is a very interesting art space in Chelsea, non-profit, called Flag Art Foundation

i was disappointed seeing that they chose Shaq O'Neil as a curator for an exhibit called "Size DOES Matter".

i'm not questioning the artists who did the work, the work, but i'm really laughing at the timing and how the Shaq/LBJ connection tried to be promoted even in New York, especially during the playoff. the exhibition will close on May 27

also it is interesting that the catalog and the central essay was written by a Cleveland native, James Frey.

so looks like it was a full LBJ/Shaq promotion party ..... not in the playoffs.

http://www.flagartfoundation.org/current/index.html

unfortunately, the site has only 4 images:

I'm with Jeter. The Lakers even making it to the finals in 2008 was unexpected and awesome. Why Russell Crowe feels the final score two seasons ago is relevent today is beyond me.

Both teams are different and the Lakers are much better and much more physical. Don't get me wrong the 2010 Celtics version is pretty darn good. That's why I want to see them in the finals. Should be the best in a long long time....

Remember, Kobe Bryant can set ants on fire with a magnifying glass. At night.

Either that, or Delonte West has been payin his mom some visits!
"Where's my donuts Gloria!"

Remember, Kobe Bryant does not own a microwave, stove or oven because revenge is a dish best served cold.

As an honorary sentiment, I think Derrick Fisher's #2 jersey should be retired. Hall of Fame or not. The Buss family and Laker organization should consider this. I know it is not the rules and tradition but there needs to be an exeption here. First comes Shaq's #34 Kobe's #24 D Fish's #2.

Who thinks so??

the funniest one was Butler thinking someone here on this blog cares what his "play of the game" was...

although I guess I should give him/her props for showing up after 2 beatdowns like that....

BUTLER: I give credit to you. I honestly thought the Suns would give them competitive games wire-to-wire in LA, and still think the possibility exists for it this weekend. I don't think the series is in doubt anymore, so I'm pulling for a sweep so that Kobe and Socks can r-e-s-t.

If they play Orlando, they'll have to deal with a deep, athletic, younger team with a whir at PG and a freak of nature in Dwight Howard. Guarding Kobe in the Finals would be a dream for Kobe, as it was for Raja Bell and Reuben Patterson before him.

If they play Boston, they're in for trench warfare. Boston will make the Lakers work for every shot, they've got quality bench support, veteran leadership, and their most valuable player is a dynamo at the position where LA is weakest *defensively*.

We'll see how things unfold. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the Magic steal at least one in Boston. Or for that matter, to see the Suns steal one in Phoenix.

#'s,
Kobe Fish Ron SB & JF all have 5 to spend on ET before any of them foul out...that'd be 25...

SalM,

"Who thinks so??"

I agree.
