Ok - who jinxed the lakers. they were rolling through and now they're playing like last year giving us fans heart attacks as they play like $%$#@!
Yes, they're about to be 14-4 - they lost to all the good teams. They better start learning to beat the good ones or bounced in round 1 of the playoffs.

kobe at his best.
finally not a boring game.
i love the lakers!

good thing they won! but as to what they've shown... if this is a preview of how they play against good teams... we're done! they need to be hungrier than last year.

What a Kobe's Divine gift!!!!
Still this game showed too well we have issues to work over.
Lamar's new role seems too fit for the new show "Dumbing up with that Kardashian" and we are not as consistent as you would expect defensively speaking.
This win shows just we are above everyone, but shows also that we are not playing our best at all.
Miami was focused and we were not.
Now please... why bother with tacos when we have to win a ring?
My energies need to pour out sweetly now. Catch you later and thanks everybody during the chat :) You rock people (way more than teh NBA pass, whose images are like a foggy day...)
Kobe The GOD Bryant kisses his haters goodbyes. Nobody can hold down the MAMBA!!!

the lakers needed this shook-up.
on a different not, JVG said that kobe is not shooting well from 3. well, he is right, but only for the first part of the season when he was posting up. but in the past few games, he shoots more than 50%. and the last shot of this game will improve his %.
4 the winning shot, can he get 2x3 points for his statistic?
December 04, 2009 at 11:00 PM
yeah, the rosy fingered dawn cast its light upon a miami heat team that was frankly a bit non plussed by its role in the epic role that it played in the ongoing saga of laker greatness. Fortuneatly, this wasn't a proper homerian epic so dDwayde didn't have to suffer a hephaestus' wrought spear through his vital to perceive the lack of favor he enjoyed with the gods. He merely was sent back into his fabrile existence of T Mobil commericials and "greatest # 4 or 5 players of his era that were screwed by the refs" humdrum daily existence, which one much imagine gives solace to such who come too near the sun only to melt in its gaze, a la icarus, sam bowie, and perhaps some failed center on a favored team that...well, it's best not to look too closely. it can cause blindness, you know.

james, you are one big spoiled fan... Why can't you appreciate your team through and through...?
It is early into the season, you can't expect perfect basketball at this time... chillax...
December 04, 2009 at 11:09 PM
Nothing to be happy about. The Lakers have shown that they can't be competitive against the better teams in the league. Miami should have won; it took a lucky shot by Kobe to make everyone happy. I'm too smart for that.
The current Laker record and their winning streak is fools gold. They handled Phoenix when the Suns were tired. Other than that, not too many quality teams.
Still, always happy to see my Lakers win, just not happy with their efforts against quality teams.
December 04, 2009 at 11:10 PM
more thoughts seemingly...
un-be-liev-able !!! what a finish...how lucky are we to be Laker fans and have this team and this Kobe dude on our team?
I am always worried and leary about Kobe going against certain players and making it a one on one battle and he did that to some extent tonight as well, fortunately he won the battle to say the least HUZAH !
Espn and the League and the rest of the media (and especially Jeff the Zombie) all want Wade (and or Carmelo or Lebron) to eclipse Kobe Bryant and it really pisses them off when ultimately they can't and never will
and the fact that he's on the Lakers feeds the fire that much more
all I can say is...wait for it...eat our collective shorts...
this was a great win for this team at this time---too many glorified scrimages lately, we needed a gut check and rose to the occasion---what this insignificant win (as an early regular game etc.) does for this team and their confidence and their focus will be evident when we are raising that trophy in June again...and again...and again...
and we are going to get better this year---a whole lot better...
guess we saw another reason why we keep Fisher around...
the Miami coach is looking more and more like Eric Estrada...but a real bummed out Eric Estrada after that horse shot...
not going to get much sleep tonight....when do we play again?
AS ALWAYS, AS EVER, YET ANOTHER GREAT DAY (AND CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON) TO BE A LAKER FAN !!!
GO LAKERS !!!

Ever heard the phrase:
"It ain't over till it's over"
Well, gotta love it when not only does Kobe saves the day, but he can make you eat your words at the same time. The World Champions will find a way to win, either easy or gutsy, but never count them out....EVER!!!

more thoughts, as it were, or so:
I think I know what Dwayne Wade was thinking as he walked down the tunnel, besides "Holy Sheetrock Batman":
"if I can't beat 'em I may as well join 'em---I'm taking the veteren min to wear that purple and gold next year--screw the money, the only way I am getting a ring is if I become a Laker"
STRANGER THINGS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAPPEN...

Kobe "Bean" Bryant: Who wrote history, ONE GAME AT A TIME
December 04, 2009 at 11:24 PM
This is the key win that will bridge this team to a record setting 34 game winning streak. I say there's one or two more nail biters to go to reset history.
December 04, 2009 at 11:26 PM
my goodness Kobe. You're all time great!!! Thank you for being a laker!!! the best player evah!
December 04, 2009 at 11:32 PM
Yes, that's one of Kobe's great shots in his career, and again it was D-Fish's clutch 3 before that set it up, but this game exposes a few concerns:
1) It's clear opposing teams are giving 150% against the Lakers. The difference in play between last night and tonight for the Heat was night and day. This was the first game against a semi-good team and it showed. Now that Pau's back and RonRon's settled in, home wins against sub-.500 teams aren't doing the Lakers any favors. They need a road trip and/or quality opponents to toughen up and rediscover their championship mettle.
2) I believe the Lakers lost the 9 point lead after Pau had to come out. Until then the game was in hand, but after he came out they seemed to fall apart. Guess that shows what Pau means to this team.
3) P&R defense continues to be the Lakers' kryptonite. D-Wade was killing them at the end with this and every contender out there has a guard who can do something similar. Addressing this should be the Lakers' top priority. Otherwise, I thought the Lakers actually did a fairly good job on defense, until (unfortunately) the last part of the 4th quarter. Until then the Heat were making a lot of contested jumpers, not to mention some lucky bounces went their way. Kobe did a superb defensive job on Wade, who couldn't score unless freed by the P&R.
4) Bynum seemed to be very inconsistent on rebounding and defense, which is another reason the Heat stayed in the game and out-rebounded the Lakers which should NOT happen. A lot of times he seemed to stand around as smaller Heat players out-hustled for the ball. Until he shows more dedication toward defense and rebounds, I don't think Phil is going to have him close out tough games. (Of course, he closed tonight because LO nearly poked Pau's eye out, but the Lakers then proceeded to lose that lead.)
The NBA... Where Kobe happens...
December 04, 2009 at 11:40 PM
There couldn't have been a more perfect ending to that game. How fortunate are we, to have Kobe on our team, to get to watch him in real time.

Wow, what a WIN!!
Down by 4 with 9 sec to go, we win by one!! How true is that, when they say "Lot of time on the clock" when its 10 sec left in Basketball!!
However, our overall game was not very spectacular today. Sometimes our D looked very pedestrian - letting Miami get offensive rebounds and score on will. Many a times Fish and other defenders were ball-watching. Too many jacked-up threes, when we should have pounded inside.
The biggest vets on the team hit BIGGG threes when it mattered the most. Kobe's was a mean, dream shot... INCREDIBLE....
Now I can go to sleep peacefully and gleefully!!

"I'm too smart for that."
Just like you were too smart to say the Lakers last year were soft yet won the title and showed their physicalness.
Just like you said the Lakers are soft. Yeah EVERY team has off game. Heck Boston lost to Atlanta in BOSTON. EVERY team has bad games and it took an outstanding perfromance from KB to win this one.
Please top being a band wagoner Troy. The Lakers served you up and your "IQ and the softness of the Lakers "

Finally, a game against a quality team. The Heat are good this year and their record is worse than they are. I expect them to move up by the end of the season.
After a string of playing vastly inferior teams at home, the Lakers had to get used to playing a team with a real superstar in DWade plus the whole Heat are well coached and Beasley and Jermaine are good players.
So I wasn't surprised that Lakers looked a bit out of sync and Miami played with the intensity of a playoff game. Experience and a career of making clutch shots by both Kobe and Fish won out in the end. Plus, Pau came back strong after the eye injury. Drew is still not used to these situations. Farmar had a good game again and seems to be on a hot streak perhaps his attitude has permanently been adjusted for the good. LO is not in a good mood, rumour has it he's been fighting with the missus.
Good game for the Lakers because it showed weaknesses in their defense against a team that knew to to execute offensive fundamentals. They'll review film and be better for it. And the teaching moment even turned out to be an exciting win so a perfect evening.

I DON'T FREAKING BELIEVE IT!
I'm not talking about the win: that I believe.
I had to DVR the game and for safe measure I DVR'd the post game show. So there I am watching...Fish hits one of his clutch threes (natch), they foul D-Wade with 3.2 seconds left and...the recording ends. Noooooooooooo.
I rushed to the computer to see what happened, because I felt somehow my boys just may have pulled it off.
And they did! Well, Kobe did. Oh - My - Gawd! I love this team.
(Still many teachable moments for Phil. But who cares? WE WON!)

Great December Game
Good TV, poster finish and all but...
Didn't understand Kobe's comment about how he and DWade had to give their teams an offensive lift. 24's got a helluva lot more weapons than Wade.
Pau should have had 40 being guarded by guys a head shorter than him.
Loved Andrew's fire in this one.
Ron seems to be suckin' some of the life out of Lamar's game.
Good game from the Farm.
Would have thought Phil and the brain trust would have had some counter for the undersized defense.
THink of what Kobe could do with the screens they set for Wade.
In the end, no matter how it looks, winning is so much better than losing.
December 05, 2009 at 01:29 AM
Has there ever been a study done to see who has the most game winning shots in NBA history? Kobe has to be near the top of any such list. Trying to find tonight's shot on youtube, I found these. I could have posted about 35 of these if i wanted to:
This was the same game, right?
December 05, 2009 at 01:37 AM
The Lakers needed a good test in a close game in order to keep their competitive juices going. Playing in blowout after blowout is not good for any team trying to stay in championship form. Finding a way and a will to win games that appear to be out of your reach and playing with the fortitude and attitude that keeps you convinced that you can win under even the most trying of circumstances is what makes a champion.

steve Nash gets the vote only cause no one ever expected them to be 2nd in the west this year. his last 2 MVP's were undeserved. first of all his first MVP belonged to Tim Duncan, his 2nd to Kobe Bryant. but now, in my world he is relevant
December 05, 2009 at 02:39 AM
Best Kobe Shot to Win the game that i have seen was the 2 shots he put up againts the SUNS, in regular time and on overtime. yeah it still didnt come up w/ a series, but u can't deny it was the best/unexpected/commanding shot you've seen since Robert Horry's and D-Fishs'.
December 05, 2009 at 02:46 AM
Great game. that was for the lakes to lose and for the heat to win. Vant wait to see what the Lakes do to the Suns on when? Sundday, lol. i expect it to be closer, but have the Lakes to win by 7

I actually predicted a laker win last year when the opponent ended up being Orlando.

Where is Carmelo Antony in your list of MVP Candidates??
As much as I dislike that dude, he is playing the best ball of his career, and is very important in Denver's current record.
Also, Gasol is #5 and Queen Crybaby James is not there?? Wish all sports writers and editors were like you. Kobe will then win MVP in a landslide :)
