Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum out Thursday night
Wednesday after practice, all seemed reasonably well in the world. Pau Gasol and Luke Walton practiced, and though Andrew Bynum missed the session with a right shoulder injury, Phil Jackson seemed reasonably optimistic that he'd play tonight in Anaheim... with a minor caveat. "My training staff doesn't anticipate anything that would prevent him from playing, but we'll see what it looks like tomorrow," he said.
Well, tomorrow is here, and Bynum isn't dressed. Lakers.com reports that Bynum will miss tonight's game with a rotator cuff issue in that shoulder, and a bruised left knee just for flavor. The hope was Gasol would be okay to play tonight as well, but that didn't happen, either. Clearly his balky hamstring didn't respond well to yesterday's run, and will keep him sidelined not just tonight, but Friday night in San Diego as well.
What that means for Tuesday night's opener remains to be seen. Hopefully with a weekend of rest, Gasol will be ready and rearin' to go. The big thing, though, is to avoid taking a two week injury and turning it into a two month problem.
Luke Walton (back) is dressed and seems likely to play. More to come as we get it.
