Smiles, everybody, smiles

We've spent much of the day discussing Michael Vick, which predictably sparked an emotional and serious discussion in this little corner of the blogosphere. Nothing wrong with that, but it's Friday and I'd hate to see our readership kick off the weekend on a pensive note. Thus, a few items that spark nothing but a grin:

Happy Birthday Magic Johnson!  Earvin turns fifty today, which prompted ESPN's True Hoop's Kevin Arnovitz remind us how much #32 has meant on the court, Forum Blue and Gold's Kurt Helin to praise his impact away from it and ESPN's J.A. Adande examines both. FB&G also wants to make kids smile, which is why they're spreading the word about Kids in Seats.

I didn't notice a very clever piece from Third Quarter Collapse when it first hit the 'net in July, but with Quentin Richardson getting dealt for a whopping FOURTH time this offseason (to Miami, where he's likely to stay put), it's worth taking a look at TQC going Trade Machine crazy in an attempt to move Q to all 30 teams before the season commences.   (They have him becoming a Laker in exchange for Adam Morrison and Sasha Vujacic, which actually isn't a terrible deal.)

And finally, this pic of Ron Artest visiting Hangzhou in China’s Zhejiang province during a recent trip just makes me happy.

Thanks to The O.C. Register for the heads up.
