Pau Gasol is long. Absurdly, improbably, Jay Bilas-makes-weekly-offerings-to-him long.

June 12, 2009 |  1:56 pm

I mean, check this out, from last night's OT period:

Pau Gasol reaches over Jameer Nelson for a Rebound in Game 4

I call it Gasolasana.  Caption that bad boy yourself if you'd like.

BK

UPDATE: Click below the jump for a killer photoshop effort from our very own Ajax.  GREAT STUFF!

What else you got, Jerry West?

PG is perhaps my favorite Laker on this team. He is effective and impactful. He never has an attitude. Pure warrior. Maybe a little more body-on-body with D12 in game 4 would be better. But how can anyone not want this guy on your team? I say that his DNA and work effort are so good that Mitch K. must now trade to get his brother, Marc. If one Gasol is great, two would be awesome!

MOVE, ***CH! GET OUT THE WAY!

This was the play where JVG originally thought Jameer did not foul Pau. When the replay clearly showed Nelson hooking Gasol, JVG, to his credit, corrected himself. And Pau is LONG!! And he has been playing terrific defense throughout this series. The play where he dunked the ball to push the lead to 5 in OT resulted because of his tremendous rotation on Turkoglu on a high pick and roll. Pau has been really terrific in this series.

Gasol: Can I be the new NBA LOGO?

Amazing play there from Gasol. He wasn't going to be denied no matter what Nelson did.

Great pic.

"I don't care if the call me soft ... this is desperation time ... I'm busting out my ballerina moves"

Some quotes from espn articles today ...

They've got a real nice outside the lines thingy on the zen master, this is what kobe had to say at the very end of the article:

"We're in this together, Phil and me," he said. "I can't imagine looking over there and not seeing him waiting on me."

Darn it Kobe ... what about my campaign to get you pat riley ... and all you "oh we're laker fans not kobe fans" ... wouldn't you rather have magic's coach handling him than mj's? ... join my campaign ... get buss to go poach riley after the season

______________________________________________

Next up Bill simmons ... yup the one we all love 2 hate on ...
According to him he's never seen a finals mvp shoot as bad as kobe who's doing .429 now but ummm wait wait didn't jordan shoot .415 in 95/96 against seatle and .427 in 97/98 against the jazz. And for all you "I'm a laker fan not a kobe fan", he also mentioned he enjoys seeing Gasol getting whacked in the face. So at least we can all hate on simmons together.

If you ask me ... if you're a laker fan ... you should at the very least be a gasol, kobe and ariza fan ... they've been our most consistent ... personally everyone on the team is in my good books except for jordan farmar ... simply cuz i think shannon brown would make better use of his minutes ... same way i used to hate on walton for cutting down ariza's minutes but now walton is like a stud cuz he aint getting major minutes and for the minutes he gets he's putting in a nice effort ... next season though if bynum doesn't shape up i'm gonna be complaining about his contract, for now he's playing hurt and doing his best

Anyway I'm getting ahead of myself ... the series isn't over ... a team with a guy than call pull down 21 rebounds and 9 blocks can never be counted out till it's over

the new NBA logo....

LOL Chicnstu. Could you imagine this silhouette on every NBA uni?

Pau's arm is almost as long as Nelson's entire body.

Then again, Nelson is only slightly taller than Papa Smurf so I guess that's not too impressive.

Anybody know what Pau's wingspan is in inches...err....feet...meters? Curious to find out.

Length aside. Pau has ungodly quicks, agility and touch for a big. That's what separates him from Shawn Bradley, the most posterized "B" in NBA history.

ajax

Bravo!

LOL, Good job ajax. Your are talented!

Pau's wingspan is 7'5"

Arizona Laker Fan

I read somewhere that Pau's wingspan is 7'4, which would make it 3 inches longer than his height (though I've also heard that he's really 7'1, but whatever). The man's a freak and also totally totally awesome. And how can someone be THAT huge and yet so freaking graceful? The way he moves on the court is just ridiculous.

Why did you use Jameer's arm instead of Pau's? (for the one not reaching for the ball) It looks like someone pulled Gasol's left arm and his right arm got all short and stubby.

Bill SImmons loves him some Celtics.

I knew I hated that guy...

Ajax--

That's good art my friend.

Wes

MJT,

Please rewrite the post without stringing together so many letters/words without a space. It stretches out physical appearance of the blog.

Thanks

Why have I not heard anything on Sasha's complete disappearance? What's up with that?

Superman versus Plastic Man!

Are you sure that's not gymnastics? I do yoga sometimes and I can't be that limber haha.

Glad to see so many true fans giving props to Gasol. All I ever hear are haters and bandwagoner/media calling him soft...

Guy is a stud. Aside from the skills you all have touched on, he's been a warrior and playing practically the entire games.
Throughout the playoffs, he's battled the big guys. Also demonstrating what a top level talent he is.

If Kobe wasn't on the team, PG would be the Finals MVP.

Lastly, have you ever seen Gasol run so fast as he did when chasing down that rebound and breakaway dunk in OT? Dude smelled blood and pulled some juice from the reserves!

nice

Gasol is the best thing since sliced bread to this laker team but it is a team so we must play that way toll the end. this smells lake it can be another 3 peat or a 4 peat team if they stay together. Kobe should restructure hs contract so thet can resign ariza and odom. Teams will go after them just to take to them from lakers.

Orlando fans thought tha tjust cuase they beat bron bron that they were going to do the same to the lakers but we are not guarding turkglue or rishnard with midgets like clevland did we have real men. A not overhyped superstar that can not close(sorry dwight not talking about you) and we have Kobe need is say more, but i will and the rest of the team that is what makes us great.

Plastic Man!

I LOVE that nickname for Pau Gasol.

Plastic Man is (oddly enough) one of the more powerful super-heroes in the DC Universe, after all.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Be UPSET! That your team loses to dynasty Lakers!
Be UPSET! With the outcome! Lakers rule.
Be UPSET! That you will fail. And Lakers will win!

But most of all I hope I did not UPSET you too much with the truth!!!]
=======================
Selfish, Primadonna Kobe Bryant
Arrogant bought and sold, unprincipaled Phil Jackson
and the Sell-out style of play that this team embodies.
THIS IS A TEAM SPORT!!!
Not, a one man show with a supporting cast.
The 5 players on the court at any given time, should, in a team sport, play as a team and NOT look for the one "Star" to pass to.
Kobe and his ILK should go play golf, tennis or find another self oriented sport.
So sad.

[So tell me, how is you team whichever it is doing lately?]

I hate lakers. I thought orlando was going to win. If Howard made at least one free throw this series would be tied2-2

[Ifs and ands belong in Disneyland, in the world of fantasy.
Reality is what you must trust, a direct trip to the haunted house.
For what is left is a Laker dynasty,
And a loss for the house of the mouse!]
