Lakers advance to the NBA Finals

There it is! The Lakers are headed back to the NBA Finals for the 30th time in franchise history after closing out the Nuggets 119-92 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. After five physical, entertaining games of basketball, LA was superior from the opening tip in Denver Friday night, up by five after one, 13 at the half, and not looking back from there.  Not a bad time to unleash the team's best performance of the postseason. Yes, it was championship-worthy.

Kobe Bryant was brilliant, authoring 35 points, dishing out ten assists and grabbing six boards. Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom played the second and third fiddle just as well, each dropping 20 points and combining for 20 rebounds.

A year after the Finals disappointment against Boston, the purple and gold are guaranteed another crack ad the Larry O'Brien, four games away from hanging a fifteenth championship banner at the Staples Center and roping off Figueroa for another parade.

The Finals tip June 4 and the Lakers will welcome the rest as they wait for Orlando or Cleveland. Plenty more postgame coverage to come!

Go Lakers!

So is pfunk done throwing up yet?

Good night everyone!
I will enjoy my sweet, sweet dreams, full of purple and gold!

4 to go
GO LAKERS!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR 2008-09 WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPION LOS ANGELES LAKERS!!!

4 more to go!

Thank You, Lord for answered prayer...AMEN!

We Win!

watching,
That's even better than shrimp on a treadmill!!

L.A fan from Boston, MA...Great game!! Not only they killed Denver tonight, they also send a scary message to the East. Watch out...

Nuggets say "they are who we thought they were" the best team in the NBA.:

Figueroa Next!
Baywood

1000% from the foul line, 24 for 24. That has to be a record. Talk about intense.

That was nice to watch. These playoff games have been hard to watch live lately.

Finally we got the game we have been waiting for. I have had more comfort reading the blogs than listening to the sport writers nuckleheads. Denver better enjoy this year. The Lakers took the tougher part to the finals. I rank about four teams above the nuggets(Houston, Portland, Utah and my beloved Lakers). The Lakers put themselves in this postion by not closing down Houston and getting preparation times for the Thuggets. They had to feel their way through the series which makes the Thuggets look better than they really are. To me they are the fifth best team in the west and depending on what Dallas and San Antonio does, they may even be the 7th best team next year. All the first four teams have at least two superstars. Denver only have Camello and Chauncey is a very good point guard but cannot dominate a game like the fast point guards in the league and he is going to be 34 years old. So Lakers are really not their rivals. They have a false Gold this year. More like Lebron run to the finals the last time via an easy schedule and got swept by SA. We will see. Good Job Mamba.

mmm... just thinking...
30th finals... the next in June
My birthday is June the 30st

i'm 30 right now, today (for me) is may the 30st (-4gmt), today, in my country, we celebrate San Fernando... My name is Fernando, and there's the San Fernando Valley where -if i'm correct- is the Staples Center... In Figueroa street... which is the surname of my girlfriend!!!
There are too many coincidences!!

Well, is good day to be a Laker fan!!

this was the game we were looking for.

it's not over yet...

I hate how espn is saying that the nuggets were 2 bad inbounds passes from sweeping the lakers. If I recall, they were still trailing in both cases and the nuggets still had to score even if the inbounds passes were successful.

Our Best Game of the Playoffs

Very nice win and a very competitive series until today's game from the Nuggets. Hats off to them but now we are on to the Finals.

Enough of the Kobe vs LeBron talk, people. Let those who have no championships have the subjective argument over who is the greatest player. I'm FOR the greatest team in basketball and that is the one and only LA Lakers!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU ! THANK YOU!!!!!! I LOVE YOU LAKERS!!!!!

I HOPE THE LAKERS HAVE FLASHBACKS OF LAST YEARS FINALS AS THEY LOSE IN THE NBA FINALS FOR THE 16TH TIME IN THIER FRANCHISE HISTORY TO EITHER THE CAVS OR MAGIC THIS YEAR.

THE LAKERS BETTER COUNT THEIR BLESSINGS THAT THE BOSTON "NBA LEAD LEADING 17 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS" CELTICS GOT HURT THIS YEAR AND COULD NOT MAKE THE TRIP TO THE FINALS.

BECAUSE THEY WOULD OF WHOOPED THE LAKERS AGAIN THIS YEAR, LIKE THEY DID LAST YEAR AND SEEM TO DO EVERY TIME THEY MEET IN THE FINALS DATING BACK TO THE GREAT BILL RUSSEL CELTIC CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS OF THE PAST.

OH WELL I GUESS I JUST HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR AND HOPE AND PRAY THE 16 TIME NBA FINAL LOSER LAKERS CAN REACH THE FINALS AGAIN WHERE THE CELTICS WILL BE WAITING FOR THEM, IN ORDER TO PUMMEL AND EMBARRASS THEM ONCE AGAIN AS THEY WIN CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE # 18.

I CAN HARDLY WAIT!

exhelodrvr,

"So is pfunk done throwing up yet?"

I totally burst out into cackling laughter.

{Big smile on my face.}

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

blh-
all i heard from ESPN the whole series was how the Nuggets were doing, what the Nuggets need to do, what interesting people the Nuggets were, these guys were openly rooting....

mud,

"this was the game we were looking for."

This WAS the game we were looking for.

Now imagine this game with an enraged, intelligent BEAST let loose.

Imagine that.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

SWEET SWEET LAKERS....Wheres the tweety bird now? shaven and shorn haha....GO LAKERS, ALL THE WAY....(ps denver fans suck - so rude:)

MrNano,

I'm sorry brother, but we should be celebrating the Lakers not your name being Fernando and, no, Staples Center is not in the San Fernando Valley.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

During the awarding of the WCF trophy, nobody was excited to raise it, it was just sitting there wearing a cup. In the background are the Lakers as if they are in the Kindergarten class just nodding their heads which Mitch K did the talking. Haha, what a way of sending the message, we want the O'brien trophy, are we not there yet? On the contrary, the young players who first timers to play in WCF and made great contributions like Bynum, Ariza and Brown they were not with the team wholeheartedly would like to shout and expressed joy but withheld for the reasons is not over, we con't recognize WCF in Los Angeles. Move on baby. Yeeeeeaaaaaaah!

Peter said it true, this is the game we've been waiting for. For the shove in the back, the intentional trip, the flapping arms, the trash talk, the national tv announcers, this one's for you.

See you on Thursday. Get some rest, Purple and Gold. You have certainly earned it.

We were focused.

Good things happen when we're focused.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

wow, the lakers are hungry. you can tell it by the looks on their face. compare last year's western trophy presentation to this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgVytD8RJS4

now thats the attitude!

Not satisfied yet. 4 more wins. However, I did really enjoy Martin hanging on Sasha looking like VanGundy draped over Mourning with his plugs drifting in the wind.
LAKERS FOREVER

"So is pfunk done throwing up yet?"

Not quite yet nor is his stooges are lol.

Interesting stat that Luke played 4 more minutes than Bynum and also outplayed Bynum. Bynum's only points was a dunk, only got 1 rebound (that one offensive one that he failed to put back) and generally was invisible.

I don't expect to Luke to outplay Bynum but that is laughable. I guess that pfunk36's and his stooges will now just shut up until they find another game to blame Luke lol!

Yeah I know Mikefloss Kobe got 10 assists and only shot few shots. The difference is that his teammates were active enough for him to pass the ball instead of CP3/LBJ where they force the issue to create assists for them.

When triangle offense is executed 100%: Win.

Kobe may have earned 10 assists but Fish also gave out 4 dimes, Gasol 6, Luke 3 which all contributed to the 28 assists the Lakers achieved. Those will win ball games.

And some deserved rest for the Lakers.

Congratulations Los Angeles Lakers 2009 Western Conference Champions.

Mr. Nano, happy birthday in advance but Staples Center is not in San Fernando Valley but there are lots of Staple stores in SFV. LOL!

Well, in the end the Nuggets could not compete to the intensity of the Lakers. We have to give the credi where it is due - Phil Jackson. He thoroughly prepared the Lakers and pick up from Game 5 intensity. You can see that the really mean business in executing the triangle methodically and finding the open man. Ariza delivered the mail and Gasol sealed with a softee kiss. It was a sight to see, Bynum jumpin', bulldog is steady again and Kobe is always prospecting for the best shot, Lakers never gave back the lead from 2nd to 4th. The Denver bigs were frustrated, they could not figure out what hit them, after all the brawl and physicality, Basketball is still a tall man's game and athleticism, you can't force it, push it b/c Lakers shots are going in, Denver has to face the inevitable. Other than the thug image of some, Nuggets are a classy team too. They deserved all the praise for beating two best teams like the Hornets and Mavericks without a 7-footer in their line up. The birdman has helped them much who became an important symbol of the birds in the Rockies. K-Mart humbled himself, an overpaid dude with those damn fouls. Who is Nene compared to Marcus Camby? The 11 games spread in the season standing showed how big and how deep are the Lakers if they're focused and determined to finish the job.

Can Lebron shine again tomorrow? I think it is the closing of the Cavaliers? When you wish upon a star, It will not be Lebron vs. Kobe, it's Disneyland vs. Disneyworld.

Not that we need to dwell on the Nuggets any longer, but what is with Kenyon Martin's kindergartner's predilection for holding onto other players long after the whistle? Last game he did it to Pau, this game he does it to Sasha. Weird...

Does anyone know when the Lakers arrive at LAX?

This Leo is not the Laker fan who used to blog here. He is a troll. We just won the WCF and he's wishing for Lakers demise in the Finals You know what to do with a troll.

To Leo, the celtic troll:

Well, the Lakers are in the Finals, so they have a better chance than the celtics do sitting at home. I don't know who will win the Finals, but I'll be rooting for the Lakers. Why don't you sit home and watch the games and see how they come out. Maybe you can call Kevin, Ray & Paul and have them watch the games with you. They're not busy now. Nor will they be the rest of their careers. They had their shot and they're done.

ps. That key on the left side of your keyboard marked "Caps Lock" probably works. Unless you've been removing the keys and eating them again.

=== KOBE BRYANT: PLAYER OF THE DECADE ===

When the NBA history books for the decade of 2000-2009 is written, it will reveal ONE central figure.

His name is Kobe Bryant.

6 NBA Finals out of 10 years. Even the years he didnt win, Kobe had wierd connections: HEAT (Shaq wins without Kobe), SPURS (Kobe Drops 81 points), SPURS (finally take out Kobe and the Lakers)

I'm not sure you realize how RIDICULOUS this is....

13 years in the league. 6 years to the FINALS. That's almost HALF his career Kobe's in the Finals! Over half, he has at least made the WCF!

10 all-star teams.
1 MVP.
81 points in a game.
etc. etc. etc.

When you talk about the NBA from 2000-2009, there is ONE player you must talk about. His name is Kobe Bryant.

Hey leo from Boston, I think you meant to say the Celtics were counting their lucky stars that they got hurt this year so that they don't wind up getting embarassed by the Lakers in the finals this year. They saved you the agony of crying as the Lakers move ever closer to your precious record.

They couldn't whup a vastly inferior Chicago team, let alone a healthy Lakers team, not in the regular season and not in the Finals. Dream on and keep counting your rings. You won't be getting any more anytime soon.

I know it's like beating a dead horse but Socks is gonna have to wake up and catch up these next couple of days. I'm putting my money on Orlando and if he can't make D Howard work...it's gonna be a long series watching the Magic bomb 3s after 3s. We all know the Lakers are suspect guarding the 3.

4 to go and it 11th and Fig ya'll!!

GO LAKES!

Best all around game in a long time. Good inside-outside game and interior passing.

Bynum played well despite not having great numbers. He really altered a lot of the Nuggets shots and made them afraid to drive to the paint.

Walton started really poorly, but redeemed himself in the 2nd half with a couple of absolutely crucial baskets and decent defense.

My last question for the night - Are the Celtics in the Finals? Is KG playing? How about the other mercenaries Moore and Marbury? Oh they are gone too, in deep fishing in the Atlantic. Hope they are all hit by the perfect storm and the leprechauns will hibernate again for the next 20 years, see you in 2029

How sweet? No Celtics, the low class NBA Chumps!!!

4 Things Why We Won:

1. Mr Nine rings - He was En Fuego tonight. I admit he drives me mad sometimes and I just can't understand his decisions at times, but Mr. Nine Rings stepped up big for us tonight. Phil was on fire! How bout that great timeout in the 2nd qtr when the nuggets were starting to make there run. Thank you Phil for finally realizing you need to micromanage this young team. It's about damn time.

2. Pau Gasol - He Dominated the 2nd Half. We saw the whole package tonight from the Spaniard tonight. Jumphook, fadeaway, left hook, jumper. He was like a surgeon tonight. He carefully dissected the defense with his post-moves and timely passes. I don't want to hear any Ga-soft comments from here on out. The dude played like a grown man tonight and he's label of softie should be buried to the ground like the Celtics championships hopes.

3. Our Small Forwards - Ariza and Luuukee. My man Luke played like an all star tonight. 30 million was money well spent today on Luuuuke. And how bout Trevor. His looking more like Craig Hodges now instead of Coop'. His shot from way dowtown is automatic.

4. Of course who else but the MAMBA - Kobe was the driver, the motor and the engine to the Lakers attack tonight. We saw "Kobe the facilitator" and the "return of KB8" all in one game. What a thing of beauty when Kobe plays like this: 35 points 10 dimes 6 boards. He could have gone for 50 if he wanted to the way he was shooting the ball. Before Lebron is crowned the KING, he's got to go through the Mamba first and win a ring. As far as I'm concerned Kobe is still the KING and Lebron is his Queen. This year, after Kobe gets his 4th ring, this would be KOBE BRYANT's vindication as the best player of his era. Don't believe in "Lebron is the best of the all-time crap" hype, that's all a bunch of baloney. Sit back and enjoy the ride Laker fans, we have the best player in the NBA on our team. I say, "In KOBE we trust!" Just an advice to true Lakerholics, avoid reading what the media says and the Fakerholics in this blog, they'll just corrupt your mind. We will be parading the NBA championship in the streets of LA this JUNE! Believe in Kobe, as you believe in yourself.

"Adversity is our biggest strenght! When our backs our against the walls, we rise because that's what champions do".

This series is dedicated to Charles Barkley.

Colorado loves the Lakers!

I think the incomprehensible thing that the National media doesn’t get is that up to Game 5 of this series, the Lakers were struggling in a mini-slump, and the playoffs to date have basically been Bynum’s rehab assignment. We did a 180 and are now playing some of our best ball of the YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PERFECT TIME TO START GETTING HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s finish this LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DESTROY, JUst like you just stepped on the Juggular of these Teddy bears, destroy the king/king jr. FINISH THISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LA LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LAKERS 2009 NBA CHAMPS......THE DYNASTY BEGINS

Kobe 2009 Finals MVP.....

Laker over Orlando in 6

PL

I saw the following comment in Game Recap in ESPN.com site:

"The Lakers might very well have been swept by the energetic Nuggets if veterans Anthony Carter and Kenyon Martin hadn't botched inbounds passes in the final seconds of Games 1 and 3, respectively."

How could that have been a sweep?? It was NOT the Nuggets which were leading in both instances, it was the Lakers that were up by 2 in each. All denver could have done from a successful inbounds pass is max 2/3 points, which does NOT guarantee a win!!

The guys over at ESPN are morons!!

Love the Lakers to death, but they need to step it up. They won't get away with what how incosistent they played against Denver in the finals.

To Leo,

Celtics bought the championship with 3 all star future hall of famers otherwise Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are chumps and you can see that how they could not even make it to finals without Kevin Garnett and if you think about lakers...Kobe Bryant with just one player became MVP and lakers went to finals. Celtics Fan need to shut their mouth and they are never going to win championship again unless of course they buy it again by bringing LeBron, Wade and Howard together...

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YESYES YES YES YES YES YES

The whole time I was playing music I was wondering about my dear Lakers.

This is GREAT

GOOOOoooOOOOO LAKERS!! GOOOOOO!~!!!!!!!

I'm just glad it's over.

Korey,

You bring up an interesting point about player of the decade.
How about the other decades.

My list looks like this.

50's Mikan
60's Russell
70's Kareem
80's Magic (slightly over Bird, 5 titles man)
90's Jordan (duh)
00's Kobe

Pretty good company.

Edwin,

"When you wish upon a star, It will not be Lebron vs. Kobe, it's Disneyland vs. Disneyworld."

Nicely put. But I wouldn't write off Cleveland just yet. Orlando is unpredictable and perfectly capable of choking the series away.

One point that I think was the turning point of the game...

In the third quarter, the Lakers got their 5th team foul at the 8:55 remaining mark. If I recall, it was Ariza's 4th, and the Nuggets were creeping closer. Spero and Stu said that it would be very difficult for the Lakers to be in the penalty that early, and to potentially give Denver stopped clock chances to get back in the game.

The Lakers had only one more team foul in the third quarter. They only had 19 fouls for the entire game. I think that was a turning point. Add to that the 57% from the field, the 56% from 3, the plus 11 in rebounds, and the PERFECT free throw shooting...plus the inability of the Nuggets to check themselves...

There it is.

Kobefan-

Just to clarify, that's from the AP story, which most major outlets (including ESPN) use. Not their postgame analysis (though I suspect someone will talk about how the series could have changed had the Nuggets been able to inbound those balls, and it's a legitimate question I think. Those first games were super tight.)

BK

Great finish to the series. I do think it is our time this year. As Jeff Van Gundy said, neither Orlando or Cleveland are as good as Boston was last year, and we are better. LO played his ass off the last two games - he must have finally felt the sense of urgency, Shannon Brown is huge off the bench, Ariza is the most under-rated player in the NBA, Walton is Mr. Steady, Bynum is slowly but surely getting back to effectiveness, D-Fish is going back to the well again, Vujacic looks to be finding his jump shot and what can you say about Kobe and Gasol? Those two are the foundations. You can count on them night after night. Something tells me Cleveland is going to win games 6 and 7, I just don't think LeBron will let them lose to Orlando. What great theater it would be with Kobe and Lebron. We shall see.

Lincoln Laker

Great win.

Great plays.

Great hustle.

Great heart.

TA, Kobe, Pau, LO - even Fish stepped up. We played 48 minutes of championship ball, and WE WON! Denver played terrible. I'm glad we won, but I also feel for Chauncey. We'll really have to watch out for them next year.

Who is it, Lakers Blog? CLE or ORL?

GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PL,
LAKERS 2009 NBA CHAMPS......THE DYNASTY BEGINS.

Great post. It gave me goosebumps. I have that feeling too that this is a dynasty in the making right now. I didn't have that feeling last year, but this playoffs, this team has finally grown up. We will win the championship this year and Kobe will finally get his 4th ring.

"Adversity is our biggest strenght! When our backs our against the walls, we rise because that's what champions do".

1. Phil Jackson is simply the best coach.

2. The Lakers finally played like Men. They were focused. They worked together on defense. They passed the ball. They made great cuts at the basket (finally). They played as a team.

3. Lamar Odom played great. I'm glad his back is getting better. When Lamar is focused, he is as good as Kevin Garnett. He is better actually since he can also dribble the ball and shoot threes.

4. Pau Gasol played fantastically. He should be, as tonight, a focal point of the offense so that he can draw players toward him and pass the ball to cutters toward the basket. He is such a good passer, he should be considered a big guard when passing - just like Magic Johnson.

5. Kobe played fantastically. He did not force shots. He played within the system. This allowed the Lakers bigs to participate strongly in the game.

6. This is the Lakers' best game of the year by far. They played high intensity, high quality, focused basketball. The execution was fantastic.

7. I think Bynum should stop complaining and just be ready to play. Play sharp, intelligent, quick, intense basketball within the time you have. Make plays. Be like Shannon Brown, who is ready to play at any time, who shines in whatever minutes he has, who makes a difference very time he comes in. Shannon always comes in with his A games. You have to do the same, Andrew. Your time will come - but realize, you aren't even in Pau Gasol's league yet.

8. It was great to see Big Game James.

9. I liked how Magic predicted an LA championship based on the way they played tonight. If they continue to play at this high a level, none of the other remaining teams will beat them. They have the energy to beat the Magic. They already can beat Cleveland.

10. Congratulations, Lakers! I hugely enjoy blowouts. They are far more entertaining and relaxing after a hard day's work. I love it.

Denver's energy was never there tonight; it's pretty sad how they just gave up (at least in my opinion). The very thought of having to face the odds they did, made them buckle under the pressure.

Watching the Lakers pound on the Nuggets was actually chilling; the pepsi center was so quiet.

The Lakers put it down straight execution style...and I loved every minute of it.

All the way, bay bay!!!!

sweet!

You want to know the difference between the Laker's and the Celtics, our blog let's trolls like that Leo egg-head post smack about the Laker's even when their team wimpered away in the 2nd round with their tail between their legs. while their blog screens posts and deletes any posts by other teams fans, don't believe me, check out the boston globe celtic blog, I can't wait till we win the Title, Kobe will have more rings than KG, ALLEN & Wheelchair Pierce put together and Phil Jackson will have more rings than Red AROGANTback. Mean while their big three are already breaking down.

Benicio, you mean four WINS to the championship, not four GAMES. Or are you being optimistic? Anyway, let's not jinx it.

0 rebound for bynum .. any comments?

EJK,

I wish it would be the Cavaliers too, than the Orlando. I see an easy path to Championship if it's Cleveland but with Orlando, it could go all the way to 7 games. They have an inside-out force that is very efficient in the playoffs, it could be a dog fight all the way to the finish line. Of course, there is exuberance among our youthful fans in the blog, counting the chicks until they are hatched, I guess that is the message of the Lakers tonight, be cautious until the job is done, preparations is the key to winning a Championship.

Gotta love the trolls coming out even though they have no room to talk smack.

It's all about the Lakers!

How is this for a stat.

Kobe, Lamar, Pau, and Ariza scored 92 points. So did Denver!!! Nice.

Wes -siide!
Look - who's got the best player on the court? We do, Kobe Bryant. Who's got the best big man on the court? We do, Pau Gasol. Who's go the best X factor on the court? We do, Lamar Odom. Not JR Smith, not Carmelo, and certainly not birdman, squirel man or any other rodent with tattoos on the neck. Hey, and who has the best coach on the court? The guy going for 10, phil the p.i.m.p. jackson.

So what did we notice about the game tonite?

1. WHy did George Scarface Karl leave Carmelo out the game for sooo long. I know he wasn't playing well but really, you take him out down 5 and put him back in dowwn 20. Did u see the look on his face when he put him back in. Karl is an idiot.
2. Ariza and Odom are playing fantastic right now. I know we can only keep one of these guys, but if Odom keeps playing like that you gotta resign him too. The guy is playing with a bad back in a contract year. And I'm sure he's risking further injury with the pain shots and the draining fluid thing. THat's heart, I love you LO, god bless you brother.
3. And this is the most important thing on this whole blog. DID YOU SEE THE BODY LANGUAGE OF THE LAKERS WHEN THEY RECEIVED THE WESTERN CONFERENCE TROPHY. Barely a smile. Not a hand on the trophy. And the only player who spoke was LO. WOW. I think last year they were passing around the trophy dancing on the scoreboard table. Do I really need to go into what that means... Kudos lakers, focus, eye on the prize.
4. Pau and Kobe are simply fantastic. If we can continue to play inside out no one can stop us. Double team and one of them is wide open. Don't double team and we will score almost every possession. This is what we've been waiting for. That may have been the best game I've seen the lakers play the last few years. Dominant, skilled, defensive minded, just fantastic on both sides of the court. Smart game tonite. Phil coached his best game tonite.

Final note- It's weird cuz this time last year we were picking out our parade spot and this year we are not going to get too excited just yet. Orlando is better than Denver and if Cleveland somehow manages to win, no homecourt. Remember we are 0-2 against Orlando regular season,so either way its going to be tough. I will say this though, if the lakers play like tonite with everybody doing their part, NO ONE WILL BEAT THEM. Even Luke got some tonite.

Go lakers.

Hey Lebron, have you seen my 4 championship rings?

Haven't been here for a while.

Great win for the Lakers.

I have to know though, how did Pfunk handle Luke's key role in the win tonight?

Lakers all day, everyday!!! Time to complete the goal and bring home the Larry O'Brien. I thought that Houston was actually tougher than the Nuggets. With all the coverage and press that LeBron has been getting, one would think that the Cavs have already advanced to the finals. I was surprised that Magic actually picked the Lakers to win tonight while both Barry and Wilbon chose the Nuggets as did Charles, Kenny and Reggie Miller of TNT. At work today, all I heard on the radio sportstations was that the Nuggets would tonight and force a game 7.

I don't think the Nuggets will be as good next year and I expect our biggest challenge to be the Portland Trailblazers. I said during the playoffs that I had total confidence in the Lakers winning when we matched up against Jerry Sloan, Rick Adelman and George Karl because they're all winless in playoff series against PJ's Chicago Bulls and Lakers teams. As I thought, it stayed true to form. Truth is, unless or until PJ retires, none of these afforementioned coaches will ever beat his teams. Lakers will be ready for the finals, regardless of which team they play. Go Lakers!!!

Greetings Lakeshow Fans,

Nice Lakers "closeout" win at Denver to claim the WC and a trip to the Finals. They played excellent "team" ball on both ends.

However, their work is far from over as they seek to claim the Larry O'Brien Trophy outright for the 2008-2009 NBA season.

All I can say at this point is that whoever they face next, Orlando or Cleveland, they are not going to be an easy out by any means. No easy street!

The recipe is very clear for a Lakers championship. It is all about "interior" play and "teamwork" for 48 minutes each game. Yes, the "inside-outside" game to be exact.

The Lakers have all the pieces to get it done without question. We have quality bigs in Gasol, Odom, Ariza and Bynum in the front line, veteran leadership in Fisher in the backcourt, and the ultimate champion and closer on the wing in KB24. MVP24 that is!

More importantly, for any success to happen, they have to bring their commitment, desire and will to "close" the entire deal. It has to come from every single player.

"Accountability" is what they should embrace at the start and end of each day. Being half-baked won't get it done.

The bottom line? The Lakers already know the "deal." The deal is about winning it all! It's time to bury Game #6 of last year to rest.

Like Kobe said once, "Just win the damn game!" Actually, 4 to be exact. Go get em' Lakers. It's time to deliver!

Laker pride through ALL and ANY ADVERSITY!

A Masterpiece of a game. Lets move on to the next victim.

Hopefully the ECF goes 7 games and 4 OT periods. We can use the extra film to study..LOL.

We should have plenty of time to heal the battle wounds from the last two series. its been a great run...lets finish strong.

4 MORE!

GO LAKERS

If we play Orlando we need to Play Howard straight up and wrap him up, put him on the line where he's 59%. Using hack a Howard, we have 6 fouls for Drew, 6 for Powell, 6 for Gasol and even a few for Lamar and Mbenga. That way we can stay at home on their 3 point shooters. Take away the 3 and they fold like a house of cards

"As Jeff Van Gundy said, neither Orlando or Cleveland are as good as Boston was last year."

I wouldn't take to much stock in this, Orlando already gave the leprocons the beat down. Granted the lepos are beginning to show their age, but when you have basically the top 3 players in the NBA still in the playoffs, nothing is going to be easy. But thank God, we are mostly healthy right now and playing our best B-Ball of the year. It won't be easy, but LAKERS WILL BE WORLD CHAMPIONS, WE just keep playing like we did the last two games.

LA LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!LETS FINISH THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Where the H has this been? You know the boys have the talent to do this night after night. But we keep stepping on our own body parts. It's been so frustrating watching this year's playoff. Toyed with Utah. Slept through the Rockies. Won a couple either way games with Denver. Then boom, the last 5+ quarters. As they say: D-E-F-E-N-S-E. And 50% plus shooting.

Pack your bags boys. Game 1 is next Thursday in Cleveland. Refs won't let "Jordan (What, me travel?) Rules" Lebron (or Stern) down tomorrow as he "fouls" out the entire Magic team in Orlando. Truth is, I hope we get more "official" respect than the poor, tragic Magic. Start lobbying Phil. Hard.

Could this be the opposite result of last year, where we started out the playoffs strong but got punked at the end by Boston? Maybe we can follow the Celtics successful 2008 formula: rocky start but with a parade finale.

"I think Bynum should stop complaining and just be ready to play. Your time will come - but realize, you aren't even in Pau Gasol's league yet."

Exactly. It gets so tiresome for those Bynum HOMERS/STANS to keep bringing him up when he obviously isn't playing up to standard and keep bringing that PATHETIC excuse about his knee. Lamar Odom injured his shoulder in 2007 yet put up 33 points with a torn labrum. Note that Bynum fans (the real ones anyways) don't give him excuses and they are very pleasant and distance from the homers.

What Kobe said in summer 2007 was unprofessional and very stupid thing to do but he was right in criticizing Bynum's poor work ethic . Bynum did improve and work harder in 07-08 but fell off in 08-09 especially since he wasn't getting the touches as he did in the previous year (big part was as to how Gasol is better than him overall).

Bynum is complaining about his PT? He should just shut up and play. Shannon brings his "A" game almost every game coming off the bench and doesn't complain about his PT. Great players such as Kobe raise their games in the playoff and Gasol remained very good as well. Bynum? Both playoff years he saw more time on the pine than on the court crying about his minutes without producing.

Bynum is the future of the franchise until then take a back seat to Kobe/Pau and sometimes Odom. He should make himself useful instead of playing poorly and crying about it.

Here we go!!!!

We blogger laker fans were complaining about the toughness of our team in these last 3 playoff series against Uta, Houston and Denver. Todays game proved that Lakers are tough team.

Mamba24 is just great....Go Lakers!!! Go NBA Champs 2009!!!

ROLLING, ROLLING TO THE FINALS!! YES!!!!!!
YIPPPPEEEEE!!!!!
GOODNIGHT LAKER NATIION I LOVE YA'S!!!

>>>THE LAKERS BETTER COUNT THEIR BLESSINGS THAT
>>> THE BOSTON "NBA LEAD LEADING 17 TIME WORLD
>>> CHAMPIONS" CELTICS GOT HURT THIS YEAR AND
>>> COULD NOT MAKE THE TRIP TO THE FINALS.

Hey trolleo,

Your Celtics suck. The Lakers had two players who are starters
this year (Bynum & Ariza) out last year for the playoffs, but
they managed to make it to the finals. Boston has a couple of
guys go down and they roll over like lambs in the second round.

Weak.

You're like the little chihuahua barking at the doberman from
behind a fence.

If you're really so great, then why didn't your two remaining
hall of fame players and the rest of the TEAM manage to get
back to the finals to actually give the Lakers a challenge?

Because they suck. That's why.

GOOD MORNING LAKER NATION!

And what a morning. Cloudy here in the OC (my handle comes from when I was living in AZ) and it couldn't be more glorious!

Glad to see that Leo chimed in with his sad tale of woulda, coulda, shoulda. What ever you have to tell yourself to live your little dream my friend. What matters is what you do Leo. Chicago almost bounced the Celtics (yes that's right Chicago) before Orlando finally put them out of their misery in six. Last year is last year. I suggest that you live in the present and in 2009 the Celtics are home watching. And In their desperate need for anybody but the Lakers the Celtics blog recently adopted Pickaxe & Roll (a Denver Nuggets blog) and threw their support to the Nuggets. This gesture proved as effective as the Celtics futile and abortive run in the playoffs this year.

We welcome the opportunity to play the Celtics next year in the Finals (thank you for properly recognizing that we wil be there) but I am not very confident that the Celtics will be able to make it there. As Laker's fans we can only hope.

Hey where is 131-92 these days?

PURPLE & GOLD...IT NEVER GETS OLD!

What a beautiful game to watch! I am excited about the Finals, regardless of whom we play. If the Lakers continue to play at this level, it really won't matter and we'll be celebratin' like gangbusters.

Isnt it time someone make Jon Jennings apologize for what he said about Kobe?

"I think it's a total mistake," says the Boston Celtics' director of basketball development, Jon Jennings, who opposes any schoolboy's going pro. " Kevin Garnett was the best high school player I ever saw, and I wouldn't have advised him to jump to the NBA. And Kobe is no Kevin Garnett."

Now we done it well, we lead Magic, we can do better. Come, lakers
