Game 5 Poll Madness!

It's time once again to put our collective finger to the wind and see in which direction the Laker Nation blows.

All the voting you can handle below the jump.

BK

Note: I changed this one because the third answer, not originally there, is necessary for those who don't have a problem with what PJ is doing. Sorry to those who already voted. BK

We've got to make pound cake of the nuggets big men. What are they by the way?

A Nene? A Nene is someone who used to babysit me. Fran Drescher is a Nene.

And the Bird Man? A big chicken. Make chicken nuggets, I say. Chicken nuggets of them all.

That's what’s for dinner: Chicken nuggets, blood pudding, foul, beef and, pound cake.

Wes

The officiating has been horrid all around, but the Nuggets have been the beneficiaries of the horrible calls. I can't think of a truly horrible call that has gone the lakers way.

Lakers by 18 tonight. 101-83 final score!

I wanna know what's up with the Lakers free throw shooting?

In the end...

It's not about Roll Calls.
It's not about Lucky Barstools.
It's not even about Game Day Prayers.

All of those things help to rally us as Laker Nation. But it's not - and NEVER WAS about those things.

What it has always been about is The Los Angeles Lakers Basketball Club stepping out onto the hardwood to play 48 COMPLETE MINUTES OF FOCUSED, DISCIPLINED AND DETERMINED BASKETBALL.

EVERY GAME from tonight onward has to have that mindset above all: 48 COMPLETE MINUTES OF FOCUSED, DISCIPLINED & DETERMINED BASKETBALL.

If we do, we will be marching down the streets of Figueroa next month.

if we don't, we lose.

Simple as that.

It's out of our hands, Laker Nation. It's in Kobe/Pau/Drew/LO/Trevor/Fish/Sasha/Jordan/Shannon/Luke/Powell/Mbenga's hands now.

Dear Lord, may you haunt them with the spirit of NBA Finals 2008 Game 6 up and down the court from this point forward. And when they look the demons of that game in the face, MAY THEY RISE and play like the champions WE KNOW THEY ARE.

We thank You for answered prayer...AMEN!

I agree with Dominic about the officiating. What are the three calls the league has had to reverse in this series? Bynum's "flagrant" downgraded to a mere foul. And Dahntay Jones' push in the back and trip of Kobe, one upgraded from a foul to a flagrant, the other upgraded from a no-call to a flagrant. (Seriously, how do you make a no-call on a flagrant foul?)

But tonight isn't about officiating, per se. It's about desperation. And the Lakers DO seem to come through when the season is on the line. I just hope they realize that the season is indeed on the line tonight.

I like what I just heard on the radio.

2 MORE GAMES TO HOME COURT IN THE FINALS!!*

*Magic win series, Lakers win series

What is up with Denver's names? I think it explains why Laker fans think the Lakers should be doing better than they are. Denver is a great and tough teams, but their names? Not so much.

Chauncey sounds like a British poof in an old movie.

Nene sounds like a fashion model.

Carmelo is a candy bar, right? And 'Melo really sounds too laid back,

Linus is the kid with the security blanket from Peanuts.

Birdman?

How can you take them seriously?

Go Lakers!!!!! Big game 5, should be exciting tonight.

wes - mmmmmm - sounds good.

Don't forget a place setting for me!

wes - forgot to mention - I'll bring the whine....

It's gut check time for the Lakers. No more excuses, focus and execute!

Come on Bench Players!

Your night to come through for us Laker Fans!

Kobe is a rock.

AMEN!!! NOW KILL THE BASTARDS

Is it too much to hope for that Melo, K-Mart, JRSmith & Dante were out late partying it up in Hollywood?

These "mature" nuggets are annoying.

Go Lakers!!!

The truth of the matter is that NBA, ESPN, NIKE, Vitamin water and all other media outlets have hyped the KOBE VS LBJ too much that it is sickening. I love KOBE but I do not subscribe to this hype. They have to face it, LBJ needs it more than KOBE. They are using KOBE to generate excitement, because KOBE is such a polarizing figure that anything associated to him , people cannot help but be interest, meaning more hits on the blogs, etc. They can hail the "chosen one" but eventually it is the fans like us who will spend money, watch the games, we are the last and only who will hail the true KING.

Lakers will be in the finals. This will be a good matchup. It will be even and there will no pressures on the refs. They will let the better team wins because there's no more agenda by the NBA. Crabs will be a better match up for LA but I would not like to take our chances in meeting LBJ in the Finals, because the NBA will definitely give the trophy to LBJ and they might even give him a crown and a skepter with the chair. LOL

Redemption time for KOBE. It is long overdue. LBJ will be relegated as a WITNESS !!!

Lamar Odom and Bynum needs to box out, gobble up rebounds, snatch offensive rebounds and dunk the ball, no sissy put backs that will get swatted away. GO up strong.

Lakers need to commit hard fouls, and send a message that we're here to play physical if thats what you want. I want to see a derek fisher like hit to JR Smith. LOL.

Kobe needs to drive to the hoop and not settle for the J's. Once he gets hot and builds rhythm, then in the words of fat joe and lil wayne.. Make it rain on dem hobos!!!!!!!

Pau needs to be the the GASSHOLE! I wanna see grizzly bear man screaming after scoring each time. Pau cannot be stopped once he is in the post. His low post game is lethal.... he'll either draw a foul or hit his jump hook.

Bynum needs more activity. I get that he's coming back from injury, but he needs to crash the boards and box out. I could care less if he's hitting his jump hooks, I just want to see him rebound. If he focuses on that, we will be in good shape.. anything else is a bonus.

Sasha the Machine... dude is a stinker, LA should deduct money from his paycheck everytime he tosses a brick. He does have some value as a pesticide on defense. He should sacrifice his Euro soft body for the good of LA. He needs to be a dennis rodman and tick off JR SMITH and get under his skin.

Jordan Farmar, Brown, and Ariza will need to be our 3 point specialists. I would have included Fisher, but Fisher seems to be shooting like he wants to go Fishing.

Phil Jackson... Needs to call Timeouts quicker, especially if we have a 14 point lead, and the Thuggettes are making a comeback with a momentum swing. Timeouts can be used to disrupt momentum. Also, Phil has overvalued the Laker's Bench. True in past years they have rocked, but this year he should not play sasha, luke, powell all at the same time w/o KOBE on the floor. WE ABSOLUTELY GET MURDERED and lose any type of momentum with them on the floor together.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY! REAL TALK! LAKERS WILL WIN IF THEY READ WHAT I JUST TYPED.

OUT FREAKING STANDING BANNER HOLDER!!!!!
I'm ready to run through a brick wall or a Marshmelo

dominic,

While I think the officiating has hurt both teams, you are right. I cannot think of a single HORRIBLE call that has benefitted the Lakers. When it comes to AWFUL calls, the Thuggets have been the sole beneficiaries.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

utzworld,

Amen.

But I'm still utilizing my lucky barstool. It's not about prayers, it's not about roll calls, and it's not about lucky barstools... but those things don't hurt and might help.

I'm not taking any chances.

Big game tonight.

Bring it all, Lakers.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Hey Mamba24...I love the Slug-A-Thug post...perfect for the occasion. Trust me, I could slug a couple of thugs on that Denver team. Posted by: EastCoastJessie | May 27, 2009 at 10:02 AM
No, No. No Jessie!! Leave the sluggin to me, we can't have you hurting those gorgeous lil hands of yours. Lol

utzworld,

One thing that does matter is the fans at Staples Center.

There's a reason they call it home court advantage.

If you (or anyone you know) will be attending the game tonight, I beseech you... I beg you... as a true fan that wants his team to win... please SCREAM YOUR LUNGS OUT TONIGHT!!!!

THE CROWD MAKES A DIFFERENCE!!! A BIG DIFFERENCE!!!! HELP YOUR TEAM WIN!!!! REAL FANS MAKE NOISE!!!!!

MAKE NOISE!!!!

MAKE NOISE!!!!

MAKE NOISE!!!!

MAKE NOISE!!!!!

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Mambafan,

Your meaning of "Whine".

Do you mean, you'll bring the whining in regards to Phil Jackson whining about the lack of calls and inconsistency

or

you'll bring the wine to get drunk in case the Lakers play another game like the last one.

Amen Utzworld!!! Now I'm ready!

I'm heading out of the office now and going home to pace the floors and pray until the game starts. Nothing for dinner today because my stomach is just not having it.

Please Lakers...come out and play hard. We're behind you 100%.

lets goo!

breakout game im feeling ittttttttttt!

I see lamar odom having many points today. I HOPE!

Barcelona beat Man U for the Euro final. Pau should be feeling pretty good and inspired for tonight.

Isn't Kobe a Barca fan too?

lazNirv,

"Is it too much to hope for that Melo, K-Mart, JRSmith & Dante were out late partying it up in Hollywood? "

It's not too much to hope for. Carmelo Anthony has been known to do it before. They are the Thuggets, after all.

WE ARE THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS AND WE RISE!!!!

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!!!

I respectfully disagree with my brothers and sisters who think that the most important thing for us to improve on is the play of a few players.

The most important thing we need to do is rebound the ball. I can't even count the number of times during Game 4 I screamed "box out!" at the television. We are not going after the ball at all. Drew, Pau, Lamar - they all backpedal the instant they release the ball. No one is putting a body on anyone. We should be KILLING them on the boards.

I'd love to see a lineup of Kobe, Ariza, Lamar, Pau and Bynum. Just plant the forest and post them up all freaking day. Kobe and Ariza can still rain 3s to keep them honest.

Prediction:

Close game five, the little things will count big. Lakers win.

Jon K: "One thing that does matter is the fans at Staples Center."

I agree wholeheartedly. What also matters in regards to fans is our attitude during the Live Game Chat.

SUPPORT YOUR TEAM! PERIOD! NO WHINING! NO COMPLAINING! NO CHICKEN LITTLE ATTITUDES!

SUPPORT YOUR GOSH DARN TEAM AT ALL TIMES...or LOG THE HELL OFF!

Simple as that.

LAKERS TODAY LAKERS TOMMOROW LAKERS FOREVER

AK/BK, I understand the point of the whole "Lights Out" theme at Lakers home games it to put an emphasis back on the actual game but don't you feel that it kind of takes away from our home court advantage? Last night when Lebron was shooting his 2 FTs to tie up the game that Orlando crowd was rockin, I don't think I've ever seen a crowd that amped. At Lakers home games I can't even see the fans cheering anymore because the lights are out.

Lakers will get it done tonight!!!!

Also, have you guys notice that the media has started giving excuses for LeBron about how great he is but he doesn't have any help from his teammates. He can't win with this group cuz they are carppy. They are already making excuses for him. They didnt do this to Kobe when he had Smush and Kwame. They even killed him for not being a good teammate and can't carry his team...MEDIA BIAS IS ALIVE!!!

GO LAKERS!!!

“This is a moment in time when you can define yourself, This is a moment when you can step into that destiny.”

"This is your moment”

Derek Fisher
Game 3 (Western Conference Finals)

Lets have another one of those moments tonight in game five.

Go Lakers!

I predict Phil Jackson Napping on the bench. Head down (rolling) and legs crossed.

Lakers win he will talk about the energy and the flow. He will still blame the refs and take some shots at the Thuggets.

If Lakers loose he will talk about lack of energy and no flow. He will definietly blame the refs and officiating. He will blame Bygone and somebody other than himself. He will ofcourse take some shots at some Thugget players.

I am looking forward for Post Game Show.

OK boys, here we go...

The biggest game of the season is upon us. All the ups and downs of the year lend themselves to tonight.

Make your fans proud tonight, Lakers!

Make your parents proud!

Give us everthing you got. It's yours if you want it.

Go Lakers!!!

There have been 19 playoff series where the Lakers were tied 2-2, and had home court advantage. (Playing game 5 at home.) The Lakers are 19-0 in those games. After extensive research, I noted that the only thing in common in those 19 victories is that the Lakers scored more points than the opponents. Therefore, I believe that scoring more than the Nuggets is the key to victory tonight.

Well Said!

Fly away Stanley.. Be Free!

WE REALLY NEED THIS ONE
Check this article out it is very interesting it's about how LEBRON'S HYPE IS OUT OF CONTOL:

PHIL THE FEELING
*
You say Phil Jackson will talk about the flow
We'll my brother that shows what you know
The nuggets used all their energy in the 1st 4 like clowns
While Lakers played efficient ball in a air lacking town
So tell me what would you have Phil do
Jump around and act a fool like you know who
I guess yelling and screaming will put the ball in the hole
I'm telling you now that spit can turn old.
why is it when times get tight his teams don't panic
cause they don't have a damn fool coach acting manic
sure a lot of that zen stuff is bull spit
yet he manages to go a long way with it.
All i can say is 2 and 2 aint chopsticks
Look at coach Karl damn the boy looks sick
So I'll cast my lot wtih 9 rings all the way
And if the Lakers lose then you can have your say
You can call me an idiot and call Phil a fool
But if the Lakers win, i won't say nothing just be cool\
Both you and me we both want the same thing
At the end of the day we want that Championship ring
So at least for tonight let's make this pact
If you got mine then brother I got your back
And when the game is over win or lose here's to you
I'm Mamba24 and you are a cool dude too

No more Laker excuses...there are no valid reasons why we can't get this done!

Mamba24 u got game!

Lakers 101-82 .. OUT!

SBPimp,

>>> I'd love to see a lineup of Kobe, Ariza, Lamar, Pau and Bynum.
>>> Just plant the forest and post them up all freaking day. Kobe

I like it. I posted the same lineup last night with Lamar at point on offense but probably guarding Melo on defense with Ariza on Billups. Offensively, we force the Nuggets to try and match up with us as we dominate the boards. Of course, we’re not Phil. Too bad.

Is this a suggested starting line-up or a group of guys you would like to see on the court at any given time?

I wouldn't mind seeing Lamar at the starting Point, but will this weaken our bench quite a bit. Anyhow, seeing something like that reminds me of the old Lakers in the 80's when Magic ran the point. I'm sure if Pat Riley was stilll coaching the Lakers, your wish would probably come true.

Someone who thinks one rotation is too short will also think that the other rotation is too long

Excellent analysis exhelo. Definitely a trend in those 19 games and I am sure glad you spotted that one. That will help the team tonight as they make it 20-0.

Forget about rest and all in the game....

If the going gets tough, the tough gets going... I hope PJ keeps his rotations to a minimum and ALWAYS tries to keep at least 2 starters on the floor anytime.

Denver know this is their last chance (since they have only one home game), and are going to fight tooth and nail, and hard fouls. If we have to match their intensity, then we need to have a strong group out there all times. (The worst 5 would be - Sasha, Farmar, Powell, Odom and Luke/Bynum. - Hope PJ does not put this at any point of time). I would also say let 24 play the entire 48 minutes, going to the finals is more important than offseason rest....

Our guys should not play thinking since we're playing at home we'll get a W by default.

However, if we play with heart and mind together and focussed for 48 min, we should get it.

And yes, did I mention FTs, please please make those!!
