A typical Kobe... missing a lot of shot and putting the team in jeopardy. A typical Lakers winning at home and losing on the road twice before closing the series in 6 in a nervous fashion. A repeat of last year... a boring scenario. a repeat performance by Lakers and Utah.. Jazz will win tonight and Saturday, the Lakers will win the fifth and sixth games. Who are you fooling fixers?????

lakers just showed us tonight how weak they are...
they are not tough enough to beat a team on the road in the playoffs, its just that simple...
from Pau Gasoft not being able to defend a guy who's half his size, to everybody not being able to hit their FTs, to kobe not being able to make a shot if the basket was the size of the ocean, thats just a pathetic showing..
And to put the icing on the cake was the blown lead yet again... maybe Phil Jackson should call the Yankees and ask for Mariano Rivera, we could really use a closer.

Free throws...free throws...free throws....Luke Walton...Sasha Vujacic......I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Great loss for the Lakers. That's right. Another blown lead. Bynum 4 points, fouls out. Gasol misses too many freethrows.
Great loss. Wake up Lake Show!
Night night.

Absolutely pathetic effort by the Lakers. Everything that I've complained about the Lakers this year, it all came together in this pathetic loss. Now they're going to lose again next game and then they're going to have a difficult game 5 to sweat through again. But this time they're not going to get bailed out by a no call.
Pathetic is all I can say.
These are the list of things that have haunted them all year.
Kobe shooting the team out of the game.
Gasol's lack of clutch free throw shooting.
Fisher's inability to guard anyone. Why wasn't Shannon Brown in there to guard him.
Horrible coaching by PJ again.
Coasting when they have the lead and giving up a big lead.
Lack of hustle in giving up way too many rebounds.
Inability to guard the pick and roll.
Inability to win the close games.
Sasha.
Leaving the best 3 point shooters wide open again and again.
I don't want anyone to say that the Lakers only lost by 2 even though they played badly. The Jazz didn't play well either.
I have this SICK feeling that the Lakers are going to lose this series in 6. The last time I felt this was when the Lakers were up by 24 in game 4 of the finals and the Celtics started to make a small run. I got this sick feeling in my stomach. I have the same feeling now.

What a ball game...
Unfortunately we lost... on to game 4...
Posted by: dice8up | April 23, 2009 at 10:29 PM
RANDOM THOUGHTS AS I DIGEST OUR FIRST PLAYOFFS LOST
* Andrew Bynum should be absolutely ashamed of himself. He should donate this game's paycheck
* Kobe giveth, Kobe taketh away
* Pau has horrible balance. You can sneeze at him and he'll be wobbly
* Phillip Jackson must NOT begin the crucial 4th period with his usual bench lineup. We simply cannot win with Sasha and Luke in there
* No game is a giveaway. Lakers need to be pissed off tonight.
* One thing I discovered tonight...Utah sucks
* Other than passing the ball, what good is Lucas Walton?
* Farmar needs to see Lisa Estrada (head of the Laker Girls) and get fitted for his skirt
* We lost by 2, which means all of those FTs Pau missed cost us the game
* Fish is good, but not great. We need to get a starting PG for next year
* When Kobe sucks, he sucks hard and ugly
* good job, LO
* I officially hate the current Boston Celtics team more than I hated any of the 80's teams, and that's saying alot.
* We'll still win the series, but it sucks to lose...

Where can I start?
Even if the Lakers win this series, Utah still have more HEART than the lakers.
Pau Gasol played like a b**c* and a P**s* on the board. He completed allowed Boozer to dominate him on the board.
Kobe played like a dumba**. Hes stupid shot is stupid. He just played horrible. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Fix your game player, and stop coasting. You are wasting our time and effort. If you keep us coasting, you will get your team psyche as coasting. Get this together, because Lebron is doing a better job leading this team, and you are NOT.
Phil...Do not EVER eVer EveR play Luke in this playoffs again.
Sasha, man up and start making some shots, to spread this team out.
Such a stupid LOSS LA
Now I have to go to work in Cleveland to hear this B.S.
Posted by: wow | April 23, 2009 at 10:33 PM
Can't play much worse than that! Kobe, what a struggle! Just going to be that much tougher now. I'm outta words.
Posted by: DJ | April 23, 2009 at 10:34 PM
I can't believe how stupid PJ is. He says he wants to cut down rotatons and minutes. Sure overplay the guys you overplayed all year and congratulations you earned us a loss!
How about a younger Shannon Brown for tired Fish in 4th. Gee how about no Luke Walton who Harpring came in and ate him up.
AB gets into foul trouble so sure bring in tired Pau who Boozer is just pushing him around and Pau to tired to fight for positon.
Here's a thought, how about bringing in Mbenga and let Pau rest? Or throw a curve to Jazz and start LO at the 3, AB at the 5 and Pau at the 4.
I think Jazz not ready for that and Jazz don't control boards. Oops that requires forethought and coaching ability. My bad.

Yes, this is worst playoff game by Kobe ever.
Yes, this is a sign Kobe is absolutely on the sunny side of his career.
No, this is not bad, just the way it goes. We all age.
Yes, Moses' greatest work came after he reached the top of the mountain on the down from the summit.
But I think Phil's on the edge of being done with coaching. He's not cutting it in a lot of obvious ways and his mental acuity isn't what it was even 2 years ago.
We need Bynum to get this championship, so he needs to be in at crunch time.

game 3 observations:
No Andrew on the court equals no ring.
Pau is soft.
Lakers-as during the season-are not mentally tough.
Championship caliber teams do not blow 4th quater leads.
Saturday should have been a close out game.
Additional needless games can lead to injuries.
Sad.
Posted by: passionate Lakers fan | April 23, 2009 at 10:35 PM
We played right into the Jazz hand with that crappy crew that started the 4th quarter...keep Luke and Sasha on the bench on the road!!!!! Dang!!!!!
Posted by: BocaLakerGurl | April 23, 2009 at 10:35 PM
Gasol got bullied tonight. Played like a little softie.
Bynum needs to focus. Stop thinking about Rihanna.
Fisher needs to stop trying to be great. Just be good.
Kobe was the least valuable player tonight.
Posted by: Tom | April 23, 2009 at 10:36 PM
Kobe stunk...Pau killed us at the line...and yet, we enter the fourth up 8...
So, why do we lose momentum and the game?
Phil's rotation to start the fourth...poor Luke couldn't gaurd anyone tonight and he got lit up to start the3 fourth...harpering got on a role, and so did Korver...
Want to know why this team doesn't have a killer instinct?
Look at Phil...
You play a great third to take the lead on the road...a chance to go up 3-0...you start the fourth with the crew that gave you that lead...if you sub anybody, it's Shannon for Fish only...
You take their heart away right then...
Not Phil...same tired rotations...let the home team get momentum...and you lose...
I'm not excusing Kobe, Pau or some of the other players...
I said it at the start...Kobe stunk...he ran his mouth before the game about the Jazz fans, and then his ego wouldn't let him back off...
Pau killed us at the line...he makes his FTs, they never get back in the game...the turning point was in the third...up 12, Pau at the line...and he clanks two...that's being mentally soft...
By the way, is there a rule somewhere that if we have the two biggest players who dominate the other team, one of them isn't allowed to play more than 7 minutes?
Golden opportunity, pissed down our leg...
I know we'll win the series, but Phil's lack of killer instinct and poor rotations are too costly to overlook...
GO LAKERS!

PFUNK
PJ REALLY SUCKS. how can he start the 4th with the losers? took all the momentum out after the 3rd.
fish at the end on williams?!
if we take this in 7 it will be a miracle.

Kobe showed tonight why Lebron is the MVP and Dwayne Wade is second. Horrible performance by Kobe tonight!

I'm not angry at the Lakers. I'm just angry at this.
What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!
Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.
GO LAKERS!

Well, at least I don't have to read a bunch of malarkey here
about how Jordan Farmar lost the game.
Kobe shot poorly. He won't next game.
Pau missed six free throws... most of them in the second half.
Fish shot poorly and made some bad decisions on offense
again.
3 for 9 shooting by Trevor.
Bynum got victimized by a couple of flops - one by Millsap and
one by Collins - that the refs made homer calls against Bynum
on.
1 for 5 by Sasha.
Even golden boy Shannon shot 1 for 4 and made some rookie-esque
mistakes trying to guard Deron Williams.
Lamar was the ONLY Laker to play mostly well.
And with all that suckage, Utah still only managed a 2 point
win. You have to give some of the credit to Utah. They played
very aggressively - lots of shoving people around & the refs
were letting people play.
They'll win on Saturday.
Posted by: Long Time Laker Fan | April 23, 2009 at 10:45 PM
you guys are fricking hilarious. one game where we play badly and suddenly its the end of the world?
grow up all of you. bad games happen to everyone, you should be encouraged by the fact that despite all that went wrong we still only lost by two. we'll take this series easy and thats a promise.
Posted by: migs | April 23, 2009 at 10:47 PM
We lost by a hairline tonight & good for the coffers of JB but a bad image of a team aiming for Championship. Kobe will adjust on Saturday and by Monday, the series is over.
The irony of the game, the second unit closed the lead in the 2nd Q but gave away the lead in the 4th Q. Lakers inconsistencies and softness was exhibited tonight but still the score was still close. By Saturday, they will get use to the noise in Utah
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | April 23, 2009 at 10:47 PM
Gasol tonight played like he did in Game 3 and 4 last year. Soft.
I guess some things never change.
Posted by: Tom | April 23, 2009 at 10:47 PM
Fisher almost cost us game 2. I guess he wanted to succeed in doing that in game 3. How can he not go up to Phil or Ariza and tell them he can't guard Willams. put someone else on him.
Posted by: Tom | April 23, 2009 at 10:48 PM
If the Lakers do not win the title this year, they will never win it with this group. That's a guarantee.

For tomorrow's blog post, can you please look up Michael Jordan's worst ever playoff performance. Thank you.
Posted by: Tom | April 23, 2009 at 10:51 PM
After this horrible display by Kobe today, I hope the press at least starts respecting our IQs a little bit more by stop saying that kobe's the best and he's clutch just for the purpose of selling the NBA
Posted by: David | April 23, 2009 at 10:51 PM
I really wonder what is MJ's worst performance in the playoffs. Kobe greatest ever? ummm . Not yet.
Posted by: Tom | April 23, 2009 at 10:51 PM
Yet, some folks called us trolls when we were pointing this out. Phil acts like he owes Luke Walton..Damn
Posted by: keen observer | April 23, 2009 at 10:52 PM
Well,
Once again we see the lakkers lose a game to a team that had no business winning. The Lakers fell back into thier old regular season bad habits of Kobe not guarding his man and putting unecessary pressure on the rest of the team to cover for him once again. Pau Gasol played around with the ball in the post and had it stolen instead of taking the ball strong to the basket against a smaller Carlos Boozer, Kobe kept taking shots while struggling instead of getting easy shots by taking the ball to the rim. The Lakers shot jump shots and did not take advantage of driving to the basket with Utah in the penalty in the last 7 minutes of the game, the Jazz went to the rim. The Lakers gave up a 13 point lead, championship teams finish these type games like Cleveland and Denver are doing. LeBron leads his team and never allows Cleveland to give up a big lead because he reads the game situation and puts pressure on the defense when in the penalty by driving to the basket. Kobe is not leading the lakers right now, he should not allow his team to give up a lead like that. The lakers played with fire, got burnt and lost regular season games that they should have won but in this second season being the playoffs, if you play with fire, you will get burned. Utah now feel they can play with the lakers and will have a great chance to win game 4 and tie the series. We as fans talk about how good Kobe is and defend him in the eyes of other fans but frankly Kobe has not really shown smart leadership and the ability to take over a game when it is in the balance in a while and as much as I hate to admitt it, LeBron does.

Charles and Kenny just touched on the lakers bad habit of not defending..hmmmm. my point exactly, and they are 100% correct.
Posted by: 70slakersfan | April 23, 2009 at 10:55 PM
the bad thing about kobe is: he just doesn't miss many of his shots, his shot selection is absurd at least half of the time
Posted by: David | April 23, 2009 at 10:56 PM
I'm mostly sad about the lucky bar stool. It's obviously lost it's mojo. Time to move back to LA and find a bar stool out here. The thing wasn't undefeated anyway.
So we lost by 2. All the naysayers want to bet against the Lakers to win it all?
Boston? Cleveland? Smart money is still where it was.
Posted by: Vman | April 23, 2009 at 10:56 PM
I'm with Jon K. One poor showing and we still have the game go down to the last shot.
You guys need to seriously chill out.
We will not play this badly again and I say we win in 5.
Can't win 'em all.
Posted by: Benjamin | April 23, 2009 at 10:56 PM
Utah deserved to win this game......The Lakers came out flat and relaxed when they went up by 14 in the third.......Kobe was TERRIBLE!!, when he saw that his jump shot wasn't falling he should have attacked the bucket; he was totally out of sorts tonight...everything about his game tonight just flat out STUNK!!....Pau was as WEAK as he was in the finals last year... Boozer man handled him the whole night and he missed at least 5 free throws.....Bynum was totally out of rhythm and a step SLOW....his frustration got the best of him and made him a non factor...... Fish has consistently played PITIFUL basketball over the last several weeks....not to mention he also takes some of the worst shots I have ever seen (which is very surprising considering his experience) .....Phil's coaching was an ATROCITY... his walton/ sasha debauchery in the fourth is as much to blame as anything else...when is he going to realize that coaching is a part of his job description...Kobe's jump shot is not going to always figure things out for the Lakers .......LO was the only soldier who came to battle tonight....he was focused and almost carried this awful team to victory.... Apart from LO this team laid a big fat egg and as the soon to be 2009 NBA CHAMPS they should be embarrassed by this DISGUSTING performance. ......This is certainly one they have to flush, learn from, and move on.......We will see a more focused LAKER ball club in game four.....I still believe the guys will respond and get a win in game four and end the series on monday.........

Kobe was trying too hard to win the game for the Lakers but he should have realized that he was the target of the whole Utah Jazz. His assists to Odom and Pau were very effective, but Lakers seldom go to the hoop either they are avoiding Boozer or afraid to be mangled by the nasty boys. The beast is foul prone, his moves have been fully scouted and getting a lot forcing through. I guess Lakers bet against themselves in Vegas. lol!
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | April 23, 2009 at 10:59 PM
The best closer in the game ... he looked more like Mitch Williams!
Sasha shoulda been guarding Williams (not Mitch)
Can we stop comparing the loss of KG to Bynum?
At least KG is in there when the game is on the line. A guy who doesnt even play in crunch time is the reason we destroyed you last year? Only Laker fan can come up with that one! LOL LMAO
Lakers and Boston 2-1 LOL
Posted by: 131-92 | April 23, 2009 at 11:01 PM
No need of trying to talk about MJ's worst playoff game because MJ is not playing anymore, Kobe is. MJ was, Kobe is the league's best player but has not really put his stamp on this team and lead the Lakers. I now have to say that LeBron is a better leader and gets the most out of his team as much I hate to admitt it.
Posted by: 70slakersfan | April 23, 2009 at 11:02 PM
Forget MJ, he's no longer a factor in 2009, if you are a laker fan you have to think of the positive things that happened during the season. One loss should not deter us but learn from it. However, if you are a fan of other teams, it is easy to dismiss the Lakers after one loss.
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | April 23, 2009 at 11:03 PM
One bad team shooting night and you guys lose your panties....get real, they had a shot to win, they will take game 4 and close it out in 5 like most were predicting. No biggie.
Posted by: fvbruin | April 23, 2009 at 11:06 PM
I'm as upset as everyone but stop jumping off the bandwagon.
Here are some facts:
1. its very hard to win on the road, esp. in the playoffs Very few teams can do it and Lakers are the top road team.
2. Utah is very good at home. One reason is they slap at the ball so much, push off on rebounds. They get away with this at home, but not on the road (hence their awful road record).
3. Bynum was victimized by very bad calls. That affected our lineup. Gasol had to play too many minutes.
4. Kobe shot poorly, didn't play well. But made good plays to others at the end. He'll bounce back on sat.
5. Lakers will bounce back big time on Sat.
Posted by: Ice | April 23, 2009 at 11:09 PM
131-32 is here just to mock at the lakers and kept on prodding the Celtics in the Lakers Blog as if he can change our minds. He is a perfect definition of a troll and his name alone is symbol of why we despised leprechauns? They just try harder without any due respects or ethics.
What is the new drama on Rondo being carried to the locker room? It is self-serving and sneaky.
Posted by: Edwin Gueco | April 23, 2009 at 11:12 PM
At one point in the 4th quarter during a time out i saw Phil doing what he has done for the last 3 years which is yell at someone else, in this case Lamar when he should have been yelling at or getting on Kobe for not leading the team and for his bad shot selection and decision making. Lamar has came to play and has been consistent the last 10 games and into the playoffs and was the best laker player tonight. I guess when you are playing for a new contract as lamar is you tend to play better...
