How bout I add a few guarantees.

I guarantee you Stu Jackson was smoking something when he didn't suspend Rondo for the cheap shot on Miller.

I guarantee you Boston fans are panicking about the sorry state their team is in, struggling against one of the worst teams in the playoffs.

I guarantee you DJ Mbenga will contribute more in the playoffs than KG.

Tom,

Always enjoy your post, but dang man, who's Derrick?

hahaha. slow days.

I like the way Broderick Turner writes.

Simple, succinct, direct, honest, hopeful.

It's not Jim Murray, but everyone doesn't have to be Jim Murray, only Jim Murray.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the officiating this year, particularly:

1) the obvious home court advantage (home teams decidedly have been given the benefit of more calls going their way)

2) the lack of a flagrant foul call on rondo's attack on brad miller

3) the lack of an ejection for dwight howard's attack on samuel dalembert

4) how pre-game posturing/whining by coaches/players have resulted in calls going in their favor

Good to hear that andrew bynum is putting in some extra practice shots with kurt rambis... we'll need him to hit some buckets from about that range, if we play against the rockets (who love to collapse).

http://www.dailysportspages.com/forums/register.php?referrerid=811

"Bynum admitted he wasn't quite focused enough, especially when his play suffered and even more so when he lost his spot in the starting lineup to Odom."

Now I want Bynum to succeed and actually I am very happy that he admitted he wasn't focused (takes a mature man to admit things). Still though the fact he wasn't focused only showed how much he was very unprepared for the intensity of the playoffs. Were there some bogus foul calls charged to him? No doubt indeed especially Millsap's flop in Game 3. Still even when he was benched his job was to at least bring energy off the bench and to rob minutes off of Pau. He did neither in Games 4 and 5.

That is why I did not believe all the total just that simply it was his knee. For sure that brace is limiting his lateral movement and there is some fear of the knee. Still though things like Rebounding and especially DEFENSE require FOCUS and ENERGY and Bynum admitted that he did neither.

Why this is different from Kobe's airball shots when he was a youngster? At least Kobe was willing to take thoseshot. "No one else was willing to take those shots except for Kobe". Kobe did airball those shots and those speak for itself but to even have the courage and energy to do even attempt those shots when not even Shaq was willing to step up? That is when I believed that Kobe at that young age was going to be great and that All-Star selection was no fluke.

That is why I'm still not completely sold on Bynum (though not completely given up like SOME people has). Will he be great? Depends on him I can't say how much. And for the same reason why I didn't jump on board when he put 45 points on a depleted Clipper team and a defenseless Al Jefferson. Did he play good defense against Tim Duncan? Yup (didn't shut him down) but he didn't put up 20+ points against Tim.

No matter what things Kareem may teach it is up to Bynum and only Bynum that can rebound him from a forgetable Utah series. Truth is he doesn't need to score and shouldn't be focused on that like Kareem says he shouldn't. Instead REBOUNDING and DEFENSE (still have loads to work on screen and roll) and ENERGY and FOCUS are what is required. The Lakers offensive firepower is there with Kobe/Pau/LO and the bench (when they have their playmakers). Even if Bynum doesn't score much, as long as he has those 4 other things the Lakers will be a LOCK to win the title no doubt about it.

Laker Tom,

That last comment won't go through, and you know why. Please don't make us bring this up again. You've been told on several occasions and we're losing patience with you ignoring a very simple request.

AK

Here's what Drew said: "Even when you're not playing, you've got to be focused on the bench. You never know when you might be called on. In any situation, you have to be ready for it."

Here's what Broderick wrote: "Bynum admitted he wasn't quite focused enough, especially when his play suffered and even more so when he lost his spot in the starting lineup to Odom."

I'm not pardoning Bynum for admitting he was unfocused at all during the first round. This is the playoffs afterall. But, is what Broderick wrote an accurate interpretation of what Andrew said? He didn't say WHY he was unfocused (did he KBros?). For all we know, it could be girl trouble.

BK/AK,

One thing that hasn't come up in a long time is does Bynum stll practice the skyhook? I've always hoped that he would develop that shot because it would be an unblockable and unstoppable shot. I believe that it would also extend his career in the long run because he wouldn't have to bang down low all the time. I hope he unleashes the skyhook some day, it would be beautiful.

Not much to say about the league's decision about the Rondo foul, other than that it was no different from when Kobe was suspended for shooting and then slapping Ginobili in the face in a regular season game. According to Stu Jackson, Kobe's foul was an unnatural act and follow through. Rondo clearly wasn't going for the ball and he did wind up and hit Miller with enough force to make him woozy. Although Miller still could've hit those FTS, I believe that the foul by Rondo may have changed the outcome of the game.

Watching the Denver-NO game and it looks like the Hornets went fishing after game 4. Nuggets completely demoralized them. Will Melo and Yao advance for the first time in both their careers this season?

I'm hoping Houston wins tomorrow so I don't have to listen to those hyenas of Blazers broadcasters for the rest of the season. Hopefully they'll have pacifiers for all the crying they do.

Interesting how Stu Jackson was "informed" that the Rondo foul was called correctly. He doesn't even have the decency to watch the play and make his own decision. What a spineless weasel.

I should have said David Stern and not Stu Jackson. Stu Jackson was probably the one that informed David Stern. So that makes Stern the spineless weasel.

Other than Kenny Smith, just about every analyst and sportswriter is drinking the Nuggets Kool-Aid, but I think that it's going to be a very tough series which the Mavs can win.

Can't wait for the winner of Houston/Portland to emerge so that we can begin the next round even though this is a nice and much needed rest for our guys. I see the Rockets closing it out tomorrow night in a tough game.

I guarantee you, if any one of us made a remark that is remotely critical of the President, it would never see the light of day on this blog.

LakerTom,

I'd appreciate it if you could refrain from making out-of-left-field references to Obama, at least during the playoffs. I understand your infatuation with the guy, but many on this blog don't share your views of him.

Now's the time for unity among Laker fans. See, I've even refrained from making comments during the playoffs about trading Drew for LBJ :)

God told me that the cavs will beat us in the finals. He didnt tell me in how many games. He gave me signs to prove that they were gonna loose. And what ever he says is true. I hope he will change his mind. At least they will make it to the finals again but whats the point if there gonna loose again. Dang man life sucks

Jon K,

This "Bio-Chrono" thing that you do, how do you do it and how does it work? Have you done one on all of our Lakers?

Except for Kobe, Lamar, Pau, Trevor, & Derick the other Lakers have not geared up to sustained playoff intensity & focus on every possession. Watch the intensity of the Cavaliers & Celtics on every possession. All go after rebounds, loose balls and are always setting up for a rebound as soon as the ball is in the air. Rondo is a better rebounder than Laker guards & some forwards. Davis, Perkins & Powe are better rebounders than Walton, Bynum & Powel more due to desire, effort, anticipation(blocking out) & moving to the ball, positioning based on where the ball is shot from, trajectory, and pace. Utah's Price, a guard, came away with a rebound when 3 much taller lakers had better position but waited for the ball ! Lakers need to greatly cut down on turn overs and do not have the 48 minute focus of the Celtics & Cavaliers who attach far greater importance to number of possessions. The Laker bench needs to play with the same intensity as the Celtic & Cavalier benches at both ends. Wish Powel could match the intensity that Davis & Powe (Celtics) bring the moment they step on the floor. Shannon, Sasha & Farmar would do well to watch the heady play of Rondo on both defense and offense and lack of hesitation to attack the basket at opportune times or to strip the ball from opposition bigs. If the Lakers stay below ten turn-overs a game, out-rebound the opposition, communicate, and sustain a strong team defensive effort they will win the championship. Go Lakers!

WEAK LAKER DEFENSE = CLEVELAND CHAMPIONSHIP

KOBE - SHAQ = 0 championships

ALL HAIL KING JAMES!!!

Bill Simmons says he doesn’t hate Kobe. But somehow he uses his article about Rondo’s flagrant foul to take two cheap shots at Kobe.

“OK, you're confused. Not to sound like Coach Finstock, but there are five laws in the NBA. The first is that two players can only feud because someone owed someone else money from a card game and didn't pay, or because someone slept with someone else's girlfriend or steady hookup. The second is that everyone has to pretend Kobe Bryant is a good guy at all times, even if it means lying to family members, friends and media members or convincing Spike Lee to make a full-fledged gushing documentary about him.”

“Stage 5: "I'm going to pretend to be Michael Jordan to the point that you will feel creepy."
(Best example: Kobe's game-winner against the Suns in 2006 that recently made the slew of cool playoff commercials. We haven't seen an imitation that uncomfortable since Jennifer Jason Leigh got Bridget Fonda's haircut in "Single White Female.")”

Why does he feel the need to this?

AK / BK,

Those were great quotes in the last post from Derek Fisher, particularly about losing a lead. Made me think back to Game 4 of the finals last year and how that happened. Since I don't think this team will ever be a lockdown defensive juggernaut (not that it has to be), keeping the offensive flow working is key to a championship (again, my opinion).

Great to read the insider stuff, really helps understand the players better.

You know, Rondo drives past people in the lane pretty frequently.

If I was the Sixers, he'd be getting a head shot EVERY time
he was driving in to the hole. And then when they called the
flagrant two, I'd be ranting and raving to the media about disparity
of calling.

And for you Boston fans, if you say Miller's just being a whiner
and it was just a good hard foul, then you clearly won't mind
when Philly starts taking head shots at Rondo and Pierce any
time they drive the lane. They'd just be playing good hard defense
like the Celtics.

Some questions:

1. Is Adam Morrison's diabetes slowing down his healing process?

2. Why is Lamar Odom playing so well? Has something for him changed?

3. How much rest is enough for our veterans? How much is too much?

4. How the hell did the Nuggets beat the Hornets by almost 60 points in the playoffs? I didn't see the game and that is unfathomable to me.

5. How comfortable are Shannon Brown and Adam Morrison with the triangle at this point?

6. How's Luke's ankle?

7. How's Trevor's ankle?

8. What's Kobe's favorite color?

9. What's Fisher's favorite food?

10. If Pau Gasol could be a tree, what tree would he be?

11. Which present Laker has a personal vehicle which most closely mimics the infamous "Smushcalade"?

12. Which Laker is MOST likely not to be on the roster next year?

13. Do any of the Lakers own a Crysler?

14. Do any of the Lakers read this blog?

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

It was reported that Drew stayed late to have more shooting practices with Kurt Rambis.

Now we know why his shots are bricking, he is being guided by a blind man who was not known for shooting but on rebounding. It should be Craig Hodges to guide the youth to a correct form or at least the record holder, Cap. Kurt is just a Clark Kent in the 80's version.

I wonder what the Cap meant when he said that by the end of the playoffs, Laker fans will no longer hear those issues on Bynum. That's loaded with several meaning. It could mean that he has solved those issues, second Drew is no longer a Laker and third, he will sit permanently in the bench. If the last two happens, there will be a lot of gnashing posts here, coupled by endless debates and speculations leading somebody I know committing "harikiri" lol!

Go Bynum, you do not only bring victories to the Lakers but also maintain peace and harmony in the blog.

EJK,

LT's comment was originally unpublished and I don't know how it eventually got cleared. But it's since been unpublished again, and he and I discussed why the politics need to remain outside the blog. It shouldn't happen again.

AK

Finally... Omega has revealed himself as a hybridized troll mix of Mike T. and Butler. That's some seriously twisted breeding.

Houston will win tonight. Anyone know when the first game of the second round starts?

Go Lake Show!

Edwin, good comment about Kurt. The key to Lakers is playing good defense, stop opponents at critical moment, and ability to win closed games, we will see.

Looking forward to the two pivotal games tonight - Boston/Chicago and Houston/Portland. I will be planted in front of the TV tonight! I'm hoping that Houston will close it out tonight though. Not because I fear Portland but because I'd like to see us back on the court without too much time in between games. They need the rest, that's for sure, but I worry about too much rest.

In other news, I've made a commitment to not address the trolls the whole rest of this season. It just feeds the fire and frankly, wastes my time. But I have to say, it's fun to read the rest of you all taking them on!

Is anyone else having the feeling like we'll be seeing KG if the Celtics make it past this round? I just have this feeling that they'll wait until the final round and trot KG out. Don't know why...maybe because I view all things Boston as sneaky, suspicious and not to be trusted. Like Paul Pierce. Every time I see KG on the bench the feeling gets stronger. Boston will end up having this huge press conference and ride the tidal wave of emotion as far as it will take them. Just like the PP episode. Hmmmm....

GO HOUSTON FOR TONIGHT ONLY!!!!

Good morning Mamba24 & the Laker morning CRUE!!

WHEN - for the love of god - is GAME DAY???? I've heard Monday...is that true??? Ughhh - sure hope it's sooner than that, but at least knowing we're seeing the light at the end of the (very long) tunnel is good, right? Maybe that will limit the in-fighting somewhat lol!

LOVED the shrimp on the treadmill clip again. Truly a Lakers Blog classic LOL!

I can't wait to see Rondo with his head removed. With a face like that it can only be an improvement.

AK/BK - who's clearing the comments on Pau's blog? Is it you guys or does he do it himself (or have his peeps do it)? Also - do you know if he's even reading it? Just curious....

SOCKS - bust out the skyhook, man. You have NO IDEA what that would do to our crowd and team morale. I know you need to concentrate on defense, but just once - maybe at the end of each series - just do it as a "final nail in the coffin" kind of thing...

There are a LOT more inane ramblings going on in my head (what's not to love about a slow off-day) but I'll spare y'all ...

GO LAKERS!!!!! WE GOT THIS!!!!!!!!

EKJK,

I agree. No problem. My apologies.

Tom

Kobeblitz,
as usual you make a good point here/there and then start to make stuff up.

In the Kobe airball game, Del Harris gave the ball to Kobe for the last play despite Van Exel and Eddie Jones being on the same team. Van Exel was hot at that time if I remember correctly. Point was, it wasnt like no one wanted to step up. Del just hated on Van Exel and didnt give him the rock.

In overtime, Kobe lost his mind taking all those ill-advised 3s. Its good that he wanted them, but he obviously lacked the energy to take them (no legs=airballs) and lacked the judgement not to work the offense.

A learning lesson for sure, but its not like everyone ran from the ball. Kobe just took it.

"second Drew is no longer a Laker"

That's not a serious comment Edwin, is it? It seems like you're making that statement out to be more than what it is. People won't be talking about because he will have his legs under him and Playoff experience. That's pretty much it. There's no way he won't be a Laker before the Playoffs are over. Seriously? I get it. That's funny though!

Really. That's just crazy talk.

Edwin,
I think Cap just meant experience and repetition breeds confidence.

You ever play golf? You ever sit over a shot that you are not sure you can hit and totally flub it. That sucks, but its about confidence in the situation. How do you conquer that feeling? Repetition of playing in that moment will quickly solve your fears. You'll mess up so many times that its like you seen that before. One time you'll execute and you'll say that wasnt so hard.

Same will happen for Bynum.

With a basketball of course.

BK/AK,

If Houston wins tonight, when does game 1 take place?

Good morning LakerFamBam!!! Go Lakers!!!

Laker Hopeful;

I have Bill Simmons back on this one - his thoughts on this subject are mine, and in the cold sober hue of a spring Valley morning I feel that Yellow Ferrari is, no matter how valuable to this Laker team, a wannabe MJ in need of full-time spin repair for his hopefully youth-related personality disorder. Thank you for asking.

Long

Its the playoffs. Theres gonna be hard fouls. Did you watch the Heat v Hawks last nite? Whether Miller is a whiner or not ... I dont know and dont care. Go to the line make your free throws and earn some of that 10mill your gettn paid. McHale played the last 3 or 4 months of the '87 season and playoffs with a broken ankle. Surely Miller could shoot a couple of free throws with a puffy lip!

Also why do you keep mentioning the Sixers? Are you talking about next yr? Or are you predicting they will beat Orlando and will Bostons next victim? Dont understand but anyways Rondo will keep driving at will and if gets knocked down ... he will get up and do it again! Thats just what Celtics do. He learned it from his Captain "The Truth". ITS CALLED CELTIC PRIDE!

RONDO THE BEST YOUNG POINT GUARD IN THE NBA!

Bynum not focused for the playoffs? This is the guy that woulda made all the difference last yr in the Finals! How do we know he woulda been focused for the Finals. I have just declared your excuse for last yrs beat down NULL AND VOID.

What is ole Drew focusing on these days if not the playoffs? The next party at the mansion? Does he have another job?

PERKINS THE BEST YOUNG CENTER IN THE NBA NOT NAMED HOWARD!!! (If I was a myopic Laker fan I would not have mentioned Howard) Substance over style ... production over potential ... fact over fiction!

lakers_sth,
I think its really unfair to try to make every problem with Bynum into "girl trouble".

As if every NBA player doesnt have a wife or 5 girlfriends on the side (in some cases both!).

If he doesnt play well, let's just say its basketball related.

If it's not, questioning his motivation cuz you *think* he is with Rihanna or whatever girl is outrageous to say the least. Wild speculation at it's finest.

LTLF

Not that the NBA had much credibility in the first place when it comes to fair and even handed discipline.

But the Rhondo decision just sends them further down the path that they are not a credible organization when it comes to truly protecting their workers, the players.

When people have been questioning the integrity of the NBA, this clearly show bias, predjudice, and little regard for the so-called insignifigant franchises while favoring one above the others.

It sets a poor example as well to kids that its OK to win at all cost, even it means the potential to seriously hurt another individual.

As Lakers fans, we are sensitive to this subject, because the NBA felt compelled to protect other players from the 'dirty play' of Kobe and suspending him for a reckless back swinging of his arms.

This hit by Rhondo was viscious and intentionally calculated to stop a player from scoring at all cost.
It got its desired results, a player was hurt, could've been even more serious.

And the NBA rather than discipline the offender, rewarded him and the team.

We are not stupid fanatics, as Stern implied by saying we are wrongly judging 'a normal basketball play'.

Everyone saw what happened. In this case, the video, and the ball don't lie.

Eli,

I put some basic information into a computer program. The program processes the information and presents it in the form of some basic symbols that I know how to interpret and I am able to put together a reading out of it.

Essentially, the program tells me how a person is orientated on the four basic levels of human experience: The physical, the emotional, the mental/social, and the creative/spiritual. From that I put together an analysis.

And, yes, I have done a reading for every member of the Lakers. Kobe's reading is extraordinary. Who would have guessed, right?

I'm getting all psyched up to unleash the Bio-Chrono Weapon on the Rockets if we play them. Should be fun.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

justanothermambafan,

Monday.

I know. It's going to be a long five day wait.

At least Kobe, Pau, Trevor, Derek, and Luke are getting some rest.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Poor Celtics.

In order to win, they need 'welfare' like handouts from the Refs and League.

Is this what it has come to in Boston? There play is so bad, they need extra help to get by a lousy team in the first round?

"1. Is Adam Morrison's diabetes slowing down his healing process?"

I would think so. My shoulder still isn't fully healed but is getting a lot better! I hope they keep plugging away with the Stem Cell research.

laker hopeful,

Envy.

Kobe also has a competitve intensity that is repugnant to people who are fearful of Greatness, content with mediocrity, yet egotistical enough to think that other people shouldn't aspire to be better to them.

Bill Simmons meets that profile.

I (we) see him for who he is. Ignore him. He's another well-paid, articulate troll and nothing more.

Kobe will have the last word when he retires with seven rings.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Edwin Gueco,

Dude, why are you hating on Kurt Rambis?

The guy had a crazy high shooting percentage.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

The more I think about it, the more I believe the Hawks have a legitimate shot at beating the Cavs 4 out of 7 games.

They were 1-3 against the Cavs this season, but the Hawks actually played the Cavs tough. They challenged the Cavs on their home court, and played them almost to a draw in most statistical categories.

Pts +4 Cleve
FG% +4 Cleve
Rb Even
Stl +3 Cleve
Blk +2 Hawks

Over a 7 game series, those are miniscule differentials. If Horford isn't lost for the remainder of the Playoffs (which is likely) and the Hawks play defense like they have been against the Heat, they measure up quite well at every position. Even at Forward, where You have at least 3 guys to send at LeBron that are big enough at athletic enough to keep him away from the hoop (Willams, Jones, Smith) and big dudes down low who will punish him close to the basket. That would be an interesting series.

Spanky Jones,

Cleveland Cavillers + Entire History Of Franchise = Zero Championships.

Cleveland Cavlillers + LeBron James - San Antonio Spurs = Swept In The Finals.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Long Time Lakers Fan,

"And for you Boston fans, if you say Miller's just being a whiner and it was just a good hard foul, then you clearly won't mind when Philly starts taking head shots at Rondo and Pierce any time they drive the lane. They'd just be playing good hard defense like the Celtics."

While I appreciate the crystalline logic you are expressing, at the same time I recognize that you are trying to present a reasoned argument to Celtics fans, which is, in itself, unreasonable.

When you visualize a Celtics fan, imagine a pasty-white, overweight, blind drunk, village idiot with a metal bucket of clam chowder over his skull, clam chowder dripping over his "Paul Pierce 4 EVR!" t-shirt, as he screams through the bucket and repeatedly runs, bucket-first, into a brick wall.

As you see this person, you know there's no reasoning with this man. Why? Because this man is a Celtics fan.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Charles,

" I hope they keep plugging away with the Stem Cell research."

I know! How awesome would that be?

I'm confident it will happen in our lifetime.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Pig "No I don't have the flu" Miller,

Actually, out here in the zombified gray wastes of Northern Ohio, interestingly enough, the team the LeBroniacs are most concerned about in the East is the Heat.

It seems that the Cavs don't match up well against the Heat and LeBron's personal competitive need to "out do" Dwayne Wade completely throws him off his game.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Change of pace.. Let's talk about the Dwight Howard elbow to Dalambert's head.

Howard was suspended and rightfully so, but I hate how Dalambert is acting like such an innocent bystander! The replay clearly shows Dalambert pushing Dwight with both hands in the back, not even trying to play basketball. I'm sure this has been going on all series and the 76ers will be in a world of hurt when Howard comes back if the Magic can't close it out tonight.

I think Dalambert should step up and take some responsibility as should the refs who have culpability by not calling fouls and taking control of the game. Ultimately, most of the fault lies with Howard, but players react when they don't get calls or feel that they're being played dirty.

I forgot to mention that one of those Cavs Hawks games was an early season big win for the Cavs. Take that game out, and The differentials get even tighter.

I'll enjoy that series.

Jon K: bio chrono

Is there "basic information" besides birth date, place of birth, and name? I know you have secret agent clearance but anything beyond that would be tough to come by on short notice, especially from Cleveland.

You and your old prof should launch the Bio Chrono craze. Infomercial / hotline / website / Laker floor seats. Now that's the fast lane back to LA.

longtimelakerlover

I second your feelings about troll bashing.

Yes, its true, when I was a young buck on the blog, I took great delight to bash, smash, and bury trolls while still alive 6 feet (2 m) under the figurative electronic ground we walk on.

But today, I just enjoy sitting back and watching others humiliate the trolls that foolishly wonder onto our blog.

I have to wonder though, are they a true representative of another teams fans? Can they all be that stupid to come here and say some of the things we hear?

In either case, a little bantering can perk of the blood as we wait for our next playoff victim.

I will never get tired of the sweet aroma of roasting troll on an open fire.

Fatty - Its nice to be a fan of the best team and organization in the NBA. You can even smell a troll's jealousy 3,000 miles away in Boston as they will be chanting 'Beat LA' over and over again, when they are eliminated from the playoffs.

Jon K,

I don't put too much stock into what most fans think. The majority of fans have little idea of the true intricacies of competitive basketball and how it's played at the NBA level, aside from what they hear Mark Jackson and Avery Johnson telling them on ESPN. They've never executed a complex basketball play in their lives.

I'm especially skeptical of basketball fans in Ohio. Perhaps if it were New York, or even (begrudgingly) Boston, I might give it some weight. However, outside of Los Angeles, there really aren't a high number of other places with knowledgeable basketball fans in large numbers.

Korey: That was exactly my point. Broderick jumped to the conclusion that Bynum was unfocused b/c of his poor play and b/c LO replaced him in the line-up (like it depressed him into being unfocused or something) when all Drew said is that it's important to stay focused on the game while you're on the bench in case your number gets called. I brought up the "girl" problem b/c people who jump to that conclusion are doing the same thing. Bynum is one kid I take at his word. I don't here a lot of savvy handling of the reporters coming from him.

Not that it matters, Ronda looks like a reptile, a lizard!

Rajon Ronda Rondo that is....

Edwin

Regarding Rambis:

If it was like the Rambis/Bynum video, the one posted on the Lakers site a month ago. Its Rambis bodying up to AB, pushing him around the key, as Andrew shoots the ball.

Kurt is trying to simulate a game type situation, which Bynum needs to practice on to get his timing and rythym back.

Although, if you listen to Rambis, he was a great shooter in his day that wasn't allowed to shoot because the Lakers were loaded with even greater shooters.

At San Jose State, who recently retired his number, he was known to have a sweet touch.

Hey, let's have some respect, we are talking about Kurt Rambis, scoring machine here. With 1,736 points, he is the all time leading scorer in Santa Clara College history, and just had his jersey retired there in December.

Rambis is a great teacher, and was a great low post defender as well. I am sure he can help Drew in the post.

Hell, Charley Lau was a successful hitting coach and Ted Williams wasn't.

"1. Is Adam Morrison's diabetes slowing down his healing process?"

The answer to this question will always be "yes". What is more nebulous is "by how much". No one knows that, really.

My wife is diabetic, so I know from experience.

--Fearless

Jon K - Monday it is - canNOT wait.

BTW - I really feel sorry for you in the grey wasteland of Ohio, condemned to listen to Crab people with their inane drivel about how their team is so great (and this with no championships & no history worth speaking of). It's got to get on your last nerve. Bet you're grateful to the K-Bros more than you'd like to say, huh??!! LOL! Well, hopefully you'll get the job you want and get your behind back to sunny LALA land. (Just don't forget the barstool - it's coming with you & will be enshrined in Buss' office along with the Larry's).

Charles - hope your shoulder continues to improve. My mom has diabetes & doesn't heal particularly well either...

socal - you know that no NBA player has ever committed a foul in his entire life, right? They can't admit to a problem they don't have lol!

Seriously though - the FO laid an egg on the Rajon "it was was a play on the ball" Rondo brewhaha. Ridiculous. I know I'm an admitted Laker & Kobe homer, but does anyone out there NOT think that if it was Kobe who made that play on Miller he'd be sidelined for a game (at least)? You KNOW he'd have been fined, suspended, flogged, tarred, feathered, and otherwise publicly humiliated. But it was little Rondo - the league's favorite green beenie baby who did it - so it must have been a great playoff basketball foul. He couldn't have been trying to hurt Miller or anything like that, could he? No.... not our little boy. Mommy & Daddy are soooo proud.... ick.

WHAT recourse does anyone have?? Stern & his merry band of idiots have screwed the pooch so many times they can't even make sense of their own rules, so how could any of us?? It's going to continue until someone loses an eye.. or suffers a career ending injury... or dies. I don't believe I'm exaggerating. I am one seriously pissed off fan of the game who can't believe the crap that goes on that gets ignored.

To repeat Pig's earlier comment:
The NBA - where the worst officiating in professional sports happens.

It's a travesty.

One interesting development that's taking place in these playoffs are the possibilities of the teams and coaches that PJ and his Lakers will take on in the WC.

PJ teams, whether it be the Bulls or the Lakers, have dominated Jerry Sloan's Jazz, which just happened again in the first round. PJ has also dominated our potential next round opponent coach Rick Adelman when Rick was coach of the Portland Trailblazers and the Sacramento Kings. It's also the same story for the new popular pick by many to topple the Lakers in the West, George Karl and his Nuggets. PJ has dominated Karl coached teams such as the Sonics, Bucks and now the Nuggets.

Here's my question. Why has PJ had such a one-sided dominance over these coaches and their respective teams??? Aside from the obvious of having Jordan/Pippen and Shaq/Kobe, why has he consistently beaten these coaches and some of their great teams?

Also, PJ has lost in the finals to Larry Brown and Doc Rivers and to Greg Poppovich in the West. So which coaches and or systems has PJ struggled to coach against and why?

Thanks for your responses. Have a great day everyone, whether you're a Laker fan or the fan of another team. Go Lakers!!!

Ed

Maybe the Lakers should hire Byron Scott ... He should be unemployed soon. He can teach Bynum how to miss in the clutch.

Great to see an ex Laker lose and have his team quit on him ... Riles is next!

131-92 - Perkins is a big body with a decent jump hook but he's not the best young center in the game not named Howard. Nene, Bogut, Marc Gasol, Okafor, Brook Lopez, Horford and Hawes all were more productive for their teams. And Perk is a real liability on offense with his moving screens. There have been plenty of times he's made bonehead fouls like that and has really hurt the momentum of his team.

Rondo has been carrying an anemic Celtics squad through this round but that doesn't mean he holds a candle to CP3, D-Will or even Tony Parker. One reason why he doesn't get more respect from the league is b/c he acts like a punk. He drank the kool-aid and adopted the idiot behavior from the vets on the team who are supposed to know how to act like Champions.

The irony about you calling out myopic Lakers fans is that you're acting like a Boston homer yourself. You completely undermine any credibility you have by trolling here. I get why you do it. Your team winning gave you a license to troll for an entire year but now that year is almost up and it's not getting renewed.

socalife,

I hope Howard realizes he is not receiving half the punishment that Shaq received. O'Neal didn't go crazy till the Chicago Game when both Oakley and Miller.

Though Shaq got flack for giving punishment, people forget he taketh.

justanothermambafan,

"condemned to listen to Crab people with their inane drivel about how their team is so great (and this with no championships & no history worth speaking of). It's got to get on your last nerve."

It does. Cleveland fans are by their very nature irrational. It's part of the culture here and I think impacted by the trauma of losing/never winning a championship in over 60 years.

There are, of course, exceptions, but, man, this is a place where I literally spoke to many people who predicted that the Browns were going to go undefeated last year.

When one (me) talks about the Lakers, Cavs fans quickly make it a personal argument, as if I'm personally insulting them by questioning their faith in the Cavs (LeBron James, really).

And people out here usually want to make it a battle between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. The argument almost always comes down to that and I never want it to go that way. I always remember that this is a team sport. It's not a battle of individual personalities.

{Sigh}

Anyhow, yeah, The Crab People suck. I feel compassion for the fact that they are culturally tied to a community of sports heartbreak, but, in general, I find Lakers fans to be more intelligent, rational, and informed people.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Did anyone hear what artest said on TNT last night? He said brandon roy is the best player he's ever played against. He also said charles barkley was overrated.

Vman,

That information is secret at this time.

Regarding the Bio-Chrono craze, actually, I was in the process of putting together an elaborate website allowing people to access their own reading with an explanation on how to personally best manage their life choices and health, including nutritional advice.

However, just as we finalized the whole thing, the controlling business partner decided to cancel the whole project right as we were about to go into the marketing phase. Months of hard work flushed down the drain. I'm still pretty bitter about it, to be honest with you. A good business model destroyed by one person's irresponsibility and selfishness.

Anyhow, I think I'm going to write a book on the subject. There's no point in letting all this knowledge go to waste.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Pig "No I don't have the flu" Miller,

I understand your hesitation to accept the insight of the LeBroniacs. These are the same people who think that Houston will sweep the Lakers in the next round of the playoffs. Still, I think other people's opinions are always worth a listen. Even a person who is almost always wrong is still right sometimes.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

131-92,

Hey, thanks for posting. I'll agree that at this point, Perkins has utilized more of his skills than Bynum has and I credit Perkins for doing the hard work for the Celtics on the boards and defensively. Any offense he provides has also been a huge bonus and lift for the Celtics as well. One thing also that has worked in his favor in comparison with Bynum is in the injury department. Perkins has been fortunate not to have had any major injuries early on as Bynum has. There's no denying Bynum's potential, but injuries thus far has derailed him two seasons in a row and he's still trying to work out of it right now. I'm not making any excuses here, but I believe that Bynum will be the center piece for the Lakers for many years to come barring any further injury.

I also have no problem with having the Lakers play the Celtics in the finals even though as you pointed out in an earlier thread that the Celtics have dominated us head to head in the finals, because I believe that our team should always take on the best. I give credit where credit is due, and much of what you've said is hard to dispute, but as a fan I'm hoping for my Lakers which are historically the second most successful in the NBA behind your Celtics can close the gap even more by winning it all. While I hate the Celtics, I respect them because of their winning tradition. Good luck against the Bulls and the rest of the East and I hope we meet again in the finals. Go Lakers!!!

When a player headhunts that player should get a flagrant foul and be thrown out of the game and at least a 2 game suspension.
Rondo crossed that line and for the league to sugar coat it is reprehensible. It's no wonder people question then integrity of the game.
And for David Stern to validate the decision without even watching it is an outrage.
Seroiusly, what if that was Pau Gasol who got hit by Rondo.
You should be able to play tough without being dirty.

Until the public makes the person in charge accountable for making the greatest game in the world the WWE with a ball and hoop, the game will continue to deteriorate.
One more thing , can someone put a gag order on KG on the sidelines? This league needs a lot more class and a lot less foul mouth idiots.
Someone mentioned Stem Cell research... Didn't you mean Stern Cell research? This guys needs his brain replaced. His inablilty to make common sense decisions overruling serious errors by incompetent people in other departments makes you wonder just who is running the show.

Jeez. . .

Non-game days are BOR-iiing. What has it been about a month since the last Laker game?

The Hou-Port series has been ok to watch and the Celtics are so damn lucky to still be in their series. But to be fair they have been making the shots down the stretch. Note to Bulls: Double PP & make Marbury take the last shot.

I wonder if chowder-heads would think it is just a basketball play if Brad Miller knocked some of Rondo's teeth out. They would have emptied the stands.

Plus watching KG's foul-mouthed growling on the bench plus Perkins' continuous scowl is just kind of pathetic. Typical Celtic class.

Is it Monday yet?

Go Lakers!!!

Laker_st

Being that your such a student of the game ... you know that its usually not the guy setting the pick that is at fault but the guy with the ball not waiting for the pick to be set. But Im sure you already knew that and you were testing me.

As far as best young centers ... Ill take Perk over all those you named. They all have their liabilities and Perk has been there and done that. Something I cant say for the rest of the guys on your list.

As far as point guards go ... Again Ill take Rondo. Dwill and Paul might be better currently but Ill still take Rondo. Considering our team sucks according to you and the rest of your fans, then Rondo must be the best.

Paul couldnt get by an old Spurs team last year that even lost to the Lakers and this yr ... well lets not even go there.

Dwill, who I really like ... well he may be a better shooter but other than that ??? And again Rondos been there and done that.

Parker ... very similar but he couldnt get his team past Dallas.

And if Im not mistaken and Im sure you know better than me cuz your a Laker fan and Laker fan is specal and knows all ... Rondo hasnt been in the league as long as all these others.

Ill meet you half way ... RONDO AND PERKINS ARE THE BEST YOUNG PLAYERS AT THEIR POSITIONS WITH RINGS!!!

Happy? Because its very important to me to have your approval. You just dont know how special I think ... you think ... you are.

Magia32,

Compadre. Kenny Smith was actually very funny. After watching what Ron Artest said, Kenny wanted to grab a machine gun full of Tic Tacs and shoot it at Chuck's mouth.

Funny Stuff.

Cwebb- "I can't believe this is my job."

Best.

justanothermambafromanothamotha,

Thanks for the wishes.

"Also, PJ has lost in the finals to Larry Brown and Doc Rivers and to Greg Poppovich in the West. So which coaches and or systems has PJ struggled to coach against and why?"

Nemaia,

The jury is still out on Doc Rivers. But Pop and Larry Brown are the only two active coaches, IMO, that have the knack to outcoach Phil. I'm not saying they always do. But they both have the exceptional basketball intelligence needed to get the job done. Not only that, they are both what I consider "strong" coaches. They run the sideline, not the players. Both are very defensive minded coaches. They both prefer tough, gutsy players over flashy, super athletic players. Those are the kinds of teams that can compete against Phil's teams.

Of course, Brown's personality turns off players. But guys truly respect Pop.

Karl has always come off as a whinner to me. Alderman seems to be missing something that keeps him from going to the next level. He is an excellent coach, but not a championship caliber coach.

Shall the Cheese dip a toe into these muddied waters?

But of course!

A few thoughts as to the continued presence of Boston's mental-defectives within the Laker-loving community. Clearly, these people are depressed. There are no players on their team that actually represent the work ethic of their city. The mercenary-gangster approach causes uncomfortable discord when viewed against the franchise's proud history.

Furthermore, it rains in Boston: 43" per year, an average of 126 rainy days. The average HIGH temp in January is 35.6F. I wash my car in the driveway in January.

And, perhaps worst of all, is what the toxic pollution in the Hawh-buh has done to their genetic stock:

These photos represent Bostonians at their best. Enjoy.

Respectfully - to the 29 franchises that still deserve a little...

magia32 - Testes is an idiot with extraordinarily high levels of craziness thrown in for good measure. I hear him & gold teeth garnett were separated at birth - that explains a lot don't you think?

Pig - stay healthy my friend....!

Jon K - you didn't say how the LA job offer is coming....?

Fatty - with the recession & everything, do you think we'll have to raise the prices on the BBQ'd troll this year? The playoff tickets are more expensive, and I hear Jack would be willing to pay.... But with the whole swine flu thing I just don't know. It gets very confusing trying to decide what the best way to proceed is. Still, everyone looooves them some BBQ'd troll. I know I like mine with a side of coleslaw....

See???? Told you..... LOTS of inane ramblings going on. I need a game day... or a Mamba24 sighting... or a Chrysler... wait a second....

Hollinger just called James Worthy a Marginal candidate for the HallofFame...

What do you think Laker Fans...Insulting?!

Joe Dumars (Detroit): Hooray for marginal candidates on winning teams being in the HOF!!!

SportsNation John Hollinger: (3:28 PM ET ) James Worthy and KC Jones heartily second your thoughts.

So which coaches and or systems has PJ struggled to coach against and why?

-Defense and defensive minded coaches.

131,

"Great to see an ex Laker lose and have his team quit on him ... Riles is next!"

And how did that Larry Bird stint go in Indiana? Coulda sworn it was the Lakers that humiliated him in the finals. I don't think it's a coincidence that he stopped coaching after that.

Lakers STH,

"The irony about you calling out myopic Lakers fans is that you're acting like a Boston homer yourself. You completely undermine any credibility you have by trolling here. I get why you do it. With ringS??? Why, what other championships did they've won? Whack a mole tourney?

Wuttup Charles, Justa,

Also did you guys see the way artest was moving around when being interviewed? The man is strange, well he is a comedian according to Kobe.

KOBE SUCKS!

KOBE SUCKS!

Just kidding...I couldn't help myself.

It's been a while since I've blogged, but I'm glad the K-bros are still at it. I even noticed that AK and BK make appearances on one of the radio broadcasts. Way to go K-bros. I still remember our last conversation of not using "K-buddies".

I see the same cast of bloggers are still around. Same ole conversations. Looks like my buddy (who shall be un-named) is being b-slapped by the K-bros...how times have changed. LMAO!

As for the Kobe Lakers...wow!

I still don't like Kobe, but this Laker T-E-A-M is fun to watch (when they decide to play and not take quarters off).

If Kobe can lead a [emphasis on the singular tone of "a"] Laker team to a championship (don't give me no crap about the Shaq Lakers of 2000-2003), I may have no choice but to be a Kobe fan again.

Good day.

justanothermambafan,

About the ghostwriter position? I didn't get it. It was rather frustrating, especially since I felt my submission was significantly superior to the "winning" submission.

Oh well. There's got to be something for me in California. I just got to keep chugging along until things turn out.

Yes.

What do we play for? RINGS!!!!!

Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.

GO LAKERS!

Jon K,

I'm having deja vu. Think you might have answered that for me once before. Interesting subject. Understand keeping it under wraps. Too bad 'bout the biz plan but good plans never die they just look for more money. You should do a book, and be ready with the next phase.

Bill Artest is crazy.

That guy has some serious issues. The way he was rocking back and forth and looking up at the ceiling the entire interview.? Creepy.

Bill Artest. Certifiably random, and 100% whacked out of his skull.

Whatup justa!

Fatty,

I too enjoy the smack talking that goes on here. Especially when our friends 131-92, Butler, Jonathon and a host of others are exposed for being arrogant, misinformed, and basically stupid. And there's nothing I like better than delivering that line myself - but for some reason I've decided to eliminate Troll from my diet. Maybe it's the indigestion...

And to answer your question, I think they are a true representative of their team. Especially the 131 guy. Butler just wants to get a rise our of people. But the 131 guy really believes what he says is true, and loves his team to distraction. He's just stupid, and that's why we question him.

BTW, one of the thing's I'll truly miss by not playing Boston in the finals (because let's face it - they aren't going anywhere) are the chants of lucky Laker playoff ticket holders shouting "PAUL PIERCE SUCKS! PAUL PIERCE SUCKS" while he pretends not to notice. Yeah. That would have been sweet.

BTW, anyone seen Christopher Blake lately?

justa......

In a Capitalist market like ours, it a matter of supply and demand.

Currently, we have an excess of roasted trolls, in fact more than I can count with a virtual Smorgasboard of Troll delicacies spread out before us.

So the current market conditions would dictate a very low price.

I'm of the opinion though, that because so many people are facing hard times, that we should share freely of our bounty.

My wish is everyone is welcome to enjoy our sumptious feast and eat to their hearts content. We have plaenty of troll.

The amount of Trolls on the Lakers Blog can be compared to the Miracle of the Bread and Fishes. You know when the Apostles kept taking an endless supply of bread and fish out of a basket to feed thousands?

In our case, I feel we could feed tens of thousands. Our Troll supply is limitless.

Justa......and others.....Happy hunting and Bon Appetite!

CHEESE,

>>> The mercenary-gangster approach causes uncomfortable discord
>>> when viewed against the franchise's proud history.

Proud history? You’re only part right. More like a shameful history. Only a blind fool with a sponge for a brain and a noodle for a spine would call the Celtics history proud. From McHale’s cheap shot on Rambis to being branded a cheater by the NBA, to Red Auerbach’s annoying pomposity, to Pierce’s wheel chair antics, to Rondo’s flagrant foul, the Celtics history is that of a team that would stoop to any length to win, a trait that their lame fans actually cheer about. They would prefer to “steal” a win like Rondo did by cheating over even a playoff road blowout. As Mrs. LakerTom says, just more “Celtics chicanery.”

The half you got right is the history half, because any fool’s gold that Celtics fans can really enjoy ended over 20 years ago. And after this year, it is likely to be another 20 years before the Celtics ever make the Finals again. I am never surprised when a franchise like the Celtics suffers a tragedy. I learned a long time ago that what goes around comes around. KG may never be the same player again. The Celtics are an aging team with meager draft and trade prospects. More plays like Rondo and attitudes like KG will only hasten the basketball gods to deal another 20-year long bad hand to the Celtics starting these playoffs.

Tom

I have a feeling that if we face Houston in the next round, that Artest interview will somehow find its way to Kobe. Just a hunch.

Nemaia Faletogo,

No need to thank me. Im just glad I found the needle in the haystack. I agree 100% with your post. And not just cuz you agreed with me! Im glad somebody watches without their purple and gold glasses on.

Thx Faletogo but Ive got to deal with some other Idiots ...

Rob,

"And how did that Larry Bird stint go in Indiana?"
LOL ... 10000000000000000 TIMES BETTER THAN IT WENT FOR MAGIC! HOW MANY GAMES DID HE COACH BEFORE HIS TEAM QUIT ON HIM. AT LEAST BIRD MADE IT TO THE FINALS! LMAO

Gamefaceon,

"With ringS??? Why, what other championships did they've won? Whack a mole tourney?"
YES RINGS ... PERK HAS ONE AND RONDO HAS ONE ... math lesson for Laker fan ... 1+1=2

Rolf,

"I wonder if chowder-heads would think it is just a basketball play if Brad Miller knocked some of Rondo's teeth out. They would have emptied the stands."
NOW SOME OF MILLERS TEETH WERE KNOCKED OUT? LMAO .... LOL .... GO WATCH THE WNBA

I guess you expected Rondo to do what Farmer woulda done ... watch him score and have Phil bench him for the next series! LMAO LOL

131-92,

>>>Its the playoffs. Theres gonna be hard fouls.

Great, so you won't be complaining if the Sixers make "hard fouls"
on Rondo and Pierce's head, right? You won't complain at all,
you'll just call it a good hard foul. Right?

>>>Also why do you keep mentioning the Sixers?

DOH! My bad. I meant the Bulls

A KL sighting? Wow, this really MUST be a good season. KL, one of my biggest hopes is to see you at the parade on Figueroa in June. Wearing your Kobe 24 T-shirt.

Go Lake (Team) Show!

"Also, PJ has lost in the finals to Larry Brown and Doc Rivers and to Greg Poppovich in the West. So which coaches and or systems has PJ struggled to coach against and why?"

Interesting as to how people FORGET history....

2001: Beats Popovich 4-0, Beats Larry Brown 4-1
2002: Beats Poppovich 4-1
2003: Losses to Popovich 1-3 (misses on game due to surgery)
2004: Beats Pop 4-2. Losses to Brown 1-4
2008: Beats Poppovich 4-1. Loss to Rivers 2-4.

Records Playoffwise:

vs. Popovich: 13-5
vs. Brown: 5-5
vs. Rivers; 2-4

Total recordwise: 20-14.
