Newest 710 ESPN podkast!!!
We're back and yapping again. This week, we break down the importance of home court advantage and play "Media Guide Trivia" to see which one of us knows the players better. We also take a page from fellow 710 ESPN podcaster Dave Dameshek's playbook, which often includes bringing in his A-List buddies (Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Corrolla, Bill Simmons). Our guest? My good friend Scott Krinsky (NBC's Chuck, and also in a commercial with LeBron James. Don't hold that against him.

Kobe Bryant shot selection:
Case by Case NBA Finals 2004 Game 4:
Since torrents are hard to find will have to use the play by play thing:
Link: http://tinyurl.com/d7pcgp
Fact: Kobe Bryant shot 8-25 (32%) from Game 4. The "one who works on his game" Kobe shot like crap while the Hobbitmage-described lazy Shaq was having a monster game and ended up scoring 36 points on an impressive 16-21 shooting (76.2%) not to mention grabbing 20 rebounds.
1st Half:
11:15 Kobe Bryant missed 26 ft Three Point Jumper.
11:00 Kobe Bryant missed 16 ft Jumper.
9:56 Kobe Bryant made Layup. Assisted by Rick Fox.
5:50 Kobe Bryant missed 19 ft Jumper.
3:26 Kobe Bryant missed 18 ft Jumper.
2:14 Kobe Bryant missed 20 ft Jumper.
9:26 Kobe Bryant missed 7 ft Jumper.
6:09 Kobe Bryant missed Jumper.
4:41 Kobe Bryant made 17 ft Jumper.
3:11 Kobe Bryant missed 10 ft Jumper. Blocked by Rasheed Wallace.
2:50 Kobe Bryant missed 18 ft Jumper.
2:15 Kobe Bryant missed 20 ft Jumper.
0:57 Kobe Bryant missed Layup.
0:23 Kobe Bryant made Three Point Jumper. Assisted by Rick Fox.
14 attempted. 3 Converted
2nd Half:
7:43 Kobe Bryant missed 13 ft Two Point Shot
7:03 Kobe Bryant made 25 ft Three Pointer.
6:31 Kobe Bryant missed 18 ft Jumper.
2:53 Kobe Bryant missed 20 ft Jumper.
2:20 Kobe Bryant made Layup. Assisted by Luke Walton.
10:18 Kobe Bryant made 6 ft Two Point Shot.
9:32 Kobe Bryant missed Three Point Jumper.
4:35 Kobe Bryant made 11 ft Two Point Shot.
3:05 Kobe Bryant missed 27 ft Three Point Jumper.
1:17 Kobe Bryant made Two Point Shot.
0:56 Kobe Bryant missed 27 ft Three Point Jumper.
11 attempted. 5 converted
Almost all of Kobe's shots were in the midrange. Very few were in the post or even close in the paint. And that was in 2004. 2008 was similar with Posey.
Maybe now Kobe's shot selection is a bit more clearer more? Please don't say "He hits them when it counts". There's already Big Shot Rob.

FYI Pluto is now officially a "Kuiper Belt icy body". It's not unlike the journey of Smush Parker, who went from starting point guard for the Lakers to balling for the Guandong Southern Tigers... maybe it all started when Pluto rolled up to the annual planetary get-together in the Plutoscalade...

This is out of no where but, i was watching on
youtube the greatest trajedy of sports and even thoe it was kind of exaggerated it kind of made me feel disapointed in our three peat the last one. becuase of the game 6 vs kings on 02. I do think it was one sided for us and we got cheated out of our last championship let along for the kings. Even thoe we beat them in 7 fare n square it still does not feel so good. Does anybody from the lakernation feel the same way?

SB Pimp-
I appreciate you listening long enough to fill us in on that one (haha).

Omega,
No, I don't because the calls were going for SAC in game 5.
p.s. The Lakers haven't won in Portland since we had Caron Butler in our team. The Lakers have the worst percentage of any NBA team playing in Portland. Trust me and I'm sure that fellow blogger Christopher Blake can tell us that Portland including the whole state of Oregon will be savoring for their shot at the Lakers. Mike Rice has been saving up his Laker Hater script. I wish Stu Lantz can slap his microphone right on top of Mike Rice's forehead.

omega - you're kidding, right?? The Queens got what they deserved and I will NEVER feel bad about how it all went down. IT FEELS GREAT! I wish they were still a contender so we could do it again.
Mamba24 - I'm with Rick - ROLL CALL POR FAVOR!!! And don't forget to bust out the currently rolling bandwagons!
GO LAKERS!

Never is right...
They hate the Lakers up here more than any other team...they hate anything having to do with Los Angeles period...
"Me thinks the lady doth protest too much..."
Sums it up pretty well...hope we beat them...

Oregon's inferiority complex is so bizarre.
I mean, it's a nice state! Why do the people up there have to soak themselves in Haterade all the time? It makes no sense.
What do we play for? RINGS!!!!
Lakers Today... Lakers Tomorrow... Lakers Forever.
GO LAKERS!

Thanks for posting. Love the podcasts. Is there any way you could post them on iTunes so that they will automatically download when posted?

Good Morning Blog Fam -
Game day! Not too worried about the Timberwolves BUT you just never know.
Lots of good games on tonight. How about it blog? Anyone else for CLE kicking the cloverleafs collective butts? They're rolling pretty strong right now. What about Nuggets/Jazz? Jazz are really coming on strong right now. You've got to respect them, that's for sure.
GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shaun-
We asked about that. Apparently 710 only gets a certain amount of slots on iTunes, and they're spoken for. Is there a way around that?

I went straight to Lebron's shot selection, and besides right next to the basket, there's only one other zone where he's over 45%. Just abysmal outside shooting...

I don't think anyone on this blog would dispute that Kobe occasionally shoots us out of games. However, he wins games for us, as well. In fact, when Kobe scores high, we win: the Lakers are 17-8 in games where Kobe scores 50+, and 5-0 when he scores 60+. Compare that to Jordan's Bulls, who were 2-3 when he scored 60+.
Everyone has their downside. From my perspective, I would rather have a guy who comes in, plays hurt, takes responsibility for himself and the team, and leaves everything he has on the floor every single night than a guy who talks about having operations and healing on "company time", looks for the slightest excuse to sit out weeks at a time, only comes to camp in shape when he feels like it, and generally acts like a punk towards every organization that's ever signed a paycheck for him.
Let me ask you this: if Shaq can have games like the one he had against the Lakers now, at 36 (and average 18 points so far this year), why did he average 17 ppg in 2007 and 13 ppg in 2008? The fact is, Shaq only plays when he feels like it. He shows no dedication, no discipline, no loyalty. Kobe is a professional who has consistently played hurt, played sick, played through personal issues, played through professional issues and has always left everything on the floor. I don't know about you, but I'll take a tendency for bad shot selection in light of everything else Kobe brings to the table.

SBPimp, nice stat about Jordan's 60-plus games.
About Shaq: It's interesting to note how he and Dwayne Wade are on icy terms right now. Funny how Shaq winds up hating his shooting guard every time he leaves a team. (Watch your back, Jason Richardson.) I hope people begin to realize that Shaq leaving -- and the bad blood in the wake of his departure -- wasn't all Kobe's doing.

Just as Cleveland and the state of Ohio and Boston and the
state of Massachusettes were savoring for their shot at the
Lakers.
