Kobe Named Western Conference Player of the Month
January 2, 2009 | 6:13
pm
The league was impressed with his 28/6/4/1 steal December and decided to give him what I'm guessing is a plaque of sorts (or maybe a KIA dealership gift certificate, since they're the ones sponsoring the award). During this period, the Lakers went 11-4 and a perfect 7-0 at Staples. D-Wade repped the East after a 29/5/6/two steal/1 block month of his own.
Congrats to The Mamba on the honor.

MLB has a partnership with Chevy.
NBA with Kia.
Is there something wrong with this picture? lol.
Good job Kobe. Right on time too...coz we were skidding out there for awhile. That's MVP for you.

Zen:
"The article in the times shows him watching the tape in his car.
Whether we like it or not, the offense starts with Kobe.
Is he helping Ariza become a better defensive player?
is he helping Sasha become a better defensive player?
Is he pushing everyone in practice at all times?
If he is, then let's have a story on it! Why is it always about him studying film?"
Oh you can bet he is doing ALL of those things. And the fact that you want stories only shows how much you doubt Kobe Bryant (not a wrong thing but still).
The Laker players only need to one thing: Win Games. They don't need reporters trying to get into the locker room just because Zen wants stories.
You seriously undersestimate film watching. It's obvious you were not an athlete. Kobe does that when he's on the road lol....what should he be doing, talking on the cell phone to Sasha?? You know you can get pulled over that in California.
You do everything you can to prepare for games. Just because you have experience in the NBA means squat when it comes to preparing for games. You have to do the maximum and Kobe does the maximum whether it is motivating his teammates or preparing himself.
And to those stupid questions?
That would be a "YES" to all the above.
"Believe me, Kobe already knows the tendencies of all the star players in this league"
By saying that and relying on experience you FAIL to see the value of film.
"Kobe could be helping everyone a lot in practice..I don't know. I'm not there. It's just funny that there is never any articles on it. It's always about him popping in a tape at midnight before he goes to bed."
Really?? Then show me 10 MORE articles about his film watching!! And that's the point. *you* don't know. I may not watch the practices but he's been doing all the things you are so accusing of not doing otherwise Phil Jackson wouldn't have named him captain and there would have been complaints from the locker room right now.
"If Kobe is doing all the other things too, then great and I'll be quiet now!"
Great because he's always been doing those things. Now be quite.
And grats to Kobe though he has earned many of those already. Can't wait for the Finals MVP.

zen....
Too bad this guy Kobe wastes so much of his time studying video of his opponents instead of helping his teammates. He might amount to something.

hey! i get to post this again! (at AK/BK's pleasure)
zen,
it gets old seeing people dog Kobe for his passing. he MUST be doing some of that studying that you want him to because he is far and away, the TOP assist man from the 2 guard position in the NBA.
http://tinyurl.com/8p69ze
sir, he is 3rd ALL TIME in total assists in Lakers history, behind Magic and Jerry. he MUST be ok at passing. he must work on getting his teammates good shots, because to have so MANY assists at this point in a ball hog's career(almost 4100), he must have been passing at the best times more often than not.
http://tinyurl.com/86tfsq
for a guy who needs to learn how to pass, he sure has done well getting assists. he's number 83 ALL TIME in NBA history for total career assists already. although according to this outdated link he's 87. http://tinyurl.com/9v9vvy
he's ahead of Scott Skiles and Ron Harper and Kenny Smith and Brian Shaw and just behind the great TeamPlayer Bill Russell.
i get that you want he and the Lakers to get better and thrive, but i thought you could use a little information that might help ease your mind. i think he IS doing at least SOME of what YOU want him to do. don't shoot him, please.

Dang!
Did anyone catch the TOR/HOU game?
Von Wafer scored 18pts in only 12mins on 7-9FG, couple of treys, No TO's
How did we ever let this guy go? Just think about the JUGGERNAUT we'd be if he was still a Laker...
Such a shame.....

The only award I care about Kobe winning is the Finals MVP, when it's sitting beside his 4th O'Brien. Everything else is just gravy....
Almost game time!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow all the dissing on Kobe. He studies film and people complain? How do they know he is not helping his teammates in practice? How about leadership by example? Give Kobe his due! He is not perfect but he is the best. So appreciate what he is and complain constructively when he uses poor shot selection at times.
Give the guy a break and appreciate he is here!

Kobethebest,
I told you on an earlier thread, you need to put links in tiny URL form. It maintains the proper formatting and keeps the appearance from getting stretched. Go to tinyurl.com. It's very easy to use.

KOBE the best of al the best greatest all time player handsdown. He's not perfet as nobody's perfect,he's only human,God is the only perfect and can have everything.Nice and lucky to live in this generation as we see our Lakers propel their true destiny and develop as one of the best of the best team in NBA history.Hopefully our players stay healthy specially KOBE as we continue to develop to capture glory in June and become world champion again.
